Bitinstant will be back up to purchase bitcoins directly to your wallet at some point. I made a post about this, and they said it will be back Smiley

Another way to get money is setup a Dwolla account, and link it to your bank account. You can start funding Dwolla as soon as you verify the transfers Dwolla will send to your bank. Usually takes 2-3 days. You can then fund Mt. Gox with the Dwolla funds, and vise versa. I recommend getting on that NOW because Dwolla will not transfer money to Mt Gox account without having a 30 days past from your first Dwolla deposit. (It can be a 1 dollar deposit if you wish)

While this isnt as fast as bitinstant, its something you should get the ball rolling on now, so the wait of the 30 days can start ticking away Smiley

66  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitinstant to Bitcoin address gone? on: October 28, 2012, 05:57:12 PM
Maybe Im missing something, but I don't see the option to receive a Bitinstant transaction to your personal Bitcoin address. Did they take this option out?

I see the options to sent it to Mtgox, BTC-E, and a few other exhanges. Does this come in the form of Bitcoin or USD?

Anyways, I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here, or they just took out that Bit address option out. Any idea why?

67  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can't find locations in California to buy Bitcoin on: October 27, 2012, 06:05:12 PM
I can say Ive used Bitinstant to buy bitcoins a few times. Its super easy bud. Go to Bitinstant. Choose CVS in the first drop down window. Choose Bitcoin Address in the second. Type in your address. Choose your CVS location. Once you get to the point where the PDF file is generated either right down all the info, or print it out. Head to CVS and look for their moneygram phone. Use the phone and setup the payment. Head to the cashier, and pay them Smiley

Im usually in and out in under 5 mins.
68  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Mining Pool on: October 26, 2012, 07:02:41 PM
I'll give you credit in the aspect of trying to start a pool. But its clear you still need to do your homework. Look at a pool as a Bank. Would you Bank with someone who didn't understand how the current economy works, or the backbone of the system? You said if yourself your a newbie. You really need do a bit more research my friend. As for people calling you a scammer etc. Get used to that. Bitcoin is full of paranoid folk, but rightly so. Its very easy to try to scam people without harsh repercussions in this world. Paranoia is justified here Smiley

Good luck to you regardless.

Your motherboard shouldnt matter too much. All the hashing is done in the video card. If you want your CPU to mine as well though, you could focus on a better CPU. But I dont think its worth it to spend extra cash on a nice cpu just for litecoin. Example: I was getting 60 khash from my 8 core AMD FX 8150.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do? on: October 24, 2012, 03:24:27 PM
Just be real aware there is also risk involved with mining. Ordering an ASIC today will put you at the back of the line in the long list of pre-orders. BFL has sold 1000's. bASIC has just cut off pre-orders for their first batch, but you can order for the second batch said to be shipping sometime in January. If I were to make an educated guess, you most likely wont see your ASIC miner (ordered TODAY) until late January no matter where you ordered it from. Don't let this deter you from ordering because bitcoin is a great thing! But you need to know there is going to be a wait. By the time you actually get your ASIC, the mining difficulty should have increased 10x+ minimum (likely WAY more). If I had to make an educated guess it most likely will be around 30x+. But no one can really say for sure. Whats that mean? A Jalapeno will yield .07 bitcoin per 24 hours with a 10x increase from today's difficulty. That number also took into consideration the block halving too. Converted into USD that's somewhere around $.80 a day on today's market value. Of course Bitcoin may rise (I think it will if it follows suit with pasted difficulty increases), so .07 bitcoin may be worth more than what it is currently today. But then again, once ASIC miners are in full effect we may see a lot of people selling off their coins rapidly to try and get their investment back. This could in turn substantially decrease the value of bitcoin for awhile too. No one really knows, and currently its just all speculation.

In my opinion, in order to really dive head first into this, you will need a 30+ g/hash device. A Jalapeno is a great device for someone who wants to test the waters. It will allow you to make some coin (not much), but allow you to play with the market with your own generated coins. Theres still a lot of unknown factors. Ship times, power consumption, difficulty increase, bitcoin value, and other things that will determine the long term numbers/profit.

Again, I am not trying to scare you off, but its something you should be aware of before investing. You need to know what your getting yourself into Smiley

I think, once power numbers are revealed on more products, that will be a good time to choose who to order from.

I ordered from both. I honestly think both companies will produce great ASIC miners. I also distant myself from the mini wars that seem to pop up over and over again.

In the end its about the Coin itself, and our economy. Thats all that matters.

Anyone else having issues logging into BTCFPGA website? I made an account today, placed an order this morning, and everything was working fine. Went to look under my account, and I get an error clicking on the order status link within the email sent to me this morning. Try to login directly to the website, and says no account exists.

I think its an OMEN! Tonights the cutoff of pre-orders, and I didnt think I was going to get paid until end of the week. I was paid TODAY (early), and was able to get the pre-order in. Whew! Can't wait for it to arrive Smiley

75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a case? on: October 21, 2012, 10:14:31 AM
The truth is you may not be able to really mine with GPU's in the near future with ASIC on the Horizon. If your building a GPU mining rig I would say cut as many corner as possible IMO. The down side of not having a case is protection. Be it from liquid spills, pets, what have you. If you can find a way to setup your hardware in an environment that would not be bothered, I say go for it Smiley You truly don't need one.
