61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC now number one coin in Poloniex (surpasses ETH in volume) on: September 14, 2016, 04:35:44 PM
why are all the ethereum topics getting bumped up today.

is there anything going to happen with this coin?

i hope there is a pump on the ETC so that we can see the real power of a coin which is no longer centralized. so far ETH has been getting dumped so hard while ETC has been rising. i like it.

I think the Devcon2 will happen in the next few days.

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My new Eth thread builds info and other stuff thoughts and photos included. on: September 03, 2016, 12:48:44 PM
sapphire rx 480 nitro 4gb here is about $70 cheaper than the 8gb model.

any thoughts if i should choose the 4gb over the 8gb model?

will the 4gb suffer the same fate as the 3gb 280x on dagger algo in the near future?

All depends if you plan to resell them after, as some people like here. The 8 Go version will have a better resale value due to its great performances in games.

Good question.

I mine 475 mh so I earn  200 usd after power every 10 days.
I got 3 reference sapphire. 470 s for about 560 which means they will be paid off in  28 days.

I could sell them for 150 each since 28 days past I would net 450 and that would be all profit.

But frankly I want 8gb cards now 470's or 480's. Since I have about 11 4gb cards and about 9 8gb cards.

I guess blending 4gb with 8 gb works

What you earn of 200 USD in 10 days is from all the rigs. So you cannot use that to say the profitability of the 3 new cards to be paid off in 28 days.

That is right. In the future, all the program/codes need to be tested throughly on the testnet before they can be released on the main net.

I think that is not sufficient.  First of all, you can hardly test a contract for a year on a test net, because then it is much less hassle to go through the normal legal system.  The idea was to make contracting "light quick and easy". Also, contracts can contain ideas, and agreements which are confidential until they are made.  If you make them public before the deal is real, you lose a lot of competitive edge.

But most of all, if contracts run on a testnet, there will not be the same incentive to hack them than if they are for real.  In fact, I would look at contracts running on test nets, try to find hacks into them, not reveal them until the contract runs for real and then attack it.  The test net phase simply gives me more time to find a hack.

That is right. It is quite difficult to test the contracts on the test net. Hackers will not be interested. They have less incentive to do that.

The situation that I do not want to happen is what if the financial institutions and the government institutions come after not only Ethereum and their founders but all of the cryptosphere. They will attempt to control it and ban it that they will not allows us to take part in the world of cryptocurrencies because it is "illegal". Another question is will that stop you?

Maybe it is a good time to start learning about how to be more anonymous online.

Does it mean it is better not to have a foundation type of centralised controller? Then the development will be similar to bitcoin, very inefficient.
65  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: August 18, 2016, 07:34:16 AM
Well, i always sell my bitcoins every week after i received my payment from a service and i don't think i can't to not sell my bitcoins, because i always need it to turn it into fiat.

Well maybe you are on a fast pace life that you need always fiat money and you are not able to save every time you are exchanging it to fiat money.
It is going to be good if you are going to try some bitcoin allocation and try to save some of the bitcoins you have. So that you are going to have stable holdings of bitcoin.

Saying to someone  that he must allocate some bitcoin to his savings is easy but if we are in his situation maybe we would say the same thing especially if you need  money for everyday living, you would definitely exchange your bitcoin  to fiat everyday so that you would survive for everyday living.

In the short term, we can wait a few more months to buy the bitcoin. The bitcoin price might drop a bit lower.

Wow, there is so much in that document.  We landed on our feet with this Charles guy.
He has a good understanding of Business, Computing, Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Game Theory and, the thing that tie them all together, Mathematics.  I bet he can play a good hand at poker and play a couple of musical instruments too.

I will need to do some in-depth analysis of this expose' but on the face of it, this bloke knows where it's at.

In his proposal he mentioned that the difficulty bomb is an issue that should be talked about. My speculation is ETC will be the first one to do a fork to remove the difficulty bomb and it will also give ETC the opportunity to fix the replay attack issue also. After that it would be good for both chains now that they are truly separated and diverging in their own paths.

If that is the case, then the miners will support it and the price could rise above the ETH in the future. It will be good.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 18, 2016, 07:31:29 AM
Developers cannot develop on ethereum because eth will enforce forks, copyrights and trademarks.

Does it mean that the Ethereum classic cannot use the name Ethereum in the future? It might change to something else?
68  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone booked profit when btc touched $ 400 ? on: August 18, 2016, 07:30:15 AM
I think the bitcoin price will stay at the $650 level for two more months. Then it will rise to $800 to 900.

the fact that price falls and it may soon reach $600, but I hope not to fall further. I think this is just a panic, so I'll take advantage if the price falls to $600.

The price is below $600. In fact, it is $540 now. So it could be a good time to buy some for the long term.

Today's price is $590. So it has already risen $50 in the last 5 days. It seems the price will rise again next week.

That is right. I think the bitcoin price will not drop below $450 any more, even though the bitcoin exchange was hacked
69  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: August 17, 2016, 05:22:56 PM
We really need more patience before selling our coins also in buying... The price is stable around $530 to $550, I will not sell my coins unless it reaches the $750 which is my target. I'm willing to wait because this is my way of investing...

Really? The price hasn't gone below $550 in the last two weeks, so I'm not sure where you get your $530-$550 number from. Care to explain?
and the price is not going to go to such small numbers in my opinion, it is soon going to grow to the new skies in my opinion and make me good money

No one can say that the price wont go below $550 though it did not go there yet but it can always go there, and that will be a big chance for the people willing to invest money into bitcoin because the price would be good for the buyers but not for the sellers.

I think the bitcoin price will not go up too fast in the next few months. It might rise to $700 in November or December.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC now number one coin in Poloniex (surpasses ETH in volume) on: August 17, 2016, 05:21:40 PM
Both ETH and ETC are dropping. It seems that the hot money on these coins have moved to DASH and XMR. The volume of DASH and XMR is increasing and the price of these coins are slowly increasing. ETH and ETC is done for now.

The combined volume of ETC and ETH is just around 7000 now in Poloniex. The volume ratio to the DASH and XMR has reduced.
71  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone booked profit when btc touched $ 400 ? on: August 17, 2016, 05:19:56 PM
Bitcoin will never be accepted as a "real" currency if it continues to fluctuate like it has in the past. Nobody wants to buy $600 worth of currency only to have it drop the next day to $480.

In my opinion, there are a select few people making HUGE money manipulating the market. There should be no reason Bitcoin rises and falls $100's (Sometimes over 100%) in such a short time.

That is true. But when the bitcoin is used more, the market cap will be high, it is more difficult to manipulate.

That is so true, but the people who continue to hold massive stock piles of Bitcoin (more than one person) will continue to do their best to manipulate the market.

I think so. But fewer and fewer people will hold big amount of the bitcoin in the future. They will be less influential.

That is right. When more people hold the bitcoin, there proportion of the big whales will be lower, they will not have big ability to manipulate the price.

That is the reason why I buy and hold the bitcoin. My aim is to hold 420 bitcoin in the next 5 years. I hope my holding can contribute to the bitcoin price.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 16, 2016, 07:17:28 AM
Totally. Eventually it may be the way to go, in its current state no way. Look at every pos coin ever. Devs and friends sell off the stake until the price is not even worth mentioning. More than that it's a matter of principle, miners kept the chain alive, kept the hash up and kept etc relevant when it could have flatlined , we need the miners. Without them this isn't going to play out like everyone hopes. Alot of my friends around here are miners and so am I, no mining they will just move on then your at the mercy of traders shills and pumpertits

The ETH might live after changing to pure PoS. But ETC might not. It is better for it to be PoW for much longer and becomes more established.
73  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: August 16, 2016, 07:15:44 AM
It's a good idea not to take a risk and just hold your bitcoins, becuase you will never lose your money if you are attentive enough, i believe on you Grin
with bitcoin if you hold it it is impossible to lose your money because in a longer run the bitcoin price is going to reach a new all time high

If you believe in holding it for a long term then you don't have to worry about your investments, as price will surely go higher in future which will help you in earning higher profits.
i agree with you there are maximum bitcoin users hold their bitcoin and wait for until increase its price to higher they surely know that bitcoin price will be going to double in future and i am sure bitcoin users will be getting big profit from bitcoin sooner.

Yeah and even if you cannot hold it for long term even though this is not the perfect time to sell your coins as price is below $600 mark and not the best price to earn good profits.

It is not good time to sell now. The price is quite low. Investors are still suffering from the consequence of the Bitfinex hack.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2016, 07:14:23 AM
People here have claimed that Bitcoin is in fact controlled and ruled by China, as mining is centralized by Chinese mining institutions.

Do you think that China is controlling/ruling bitcoin yes or no?
China can be the controller of bitcoin because they are the biggest country from the world so it means that lot of peoples from china use bitcoins. For me its not important who control bitcoin  if his price is still going up

The Chinese are mainly miners. They mine the bitcoin but they also have to pay the cost of mining. Most of the mined coins flow to the west.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC now number one coin in Poloniex (surpasses ETH in volume) on: August 16, 2016, 07:10:04 AM
Although ETC has big volume but still there is not wallet ETC for android and it is make me doubt in ETC because there are not support or innovation for it.

Coins don't have to be functional in this space for people to invest. If it exist, people will speculate on it. The overwhelming majority of alts don't have dedicated mobile wallets, hell, most of them don't really survive that long.

Funny that you mention this. Right now Maidsafe is getting pumped the fuck out and it does not even have a proper wallet yet. Hell even the token (MAID) was supposed to be a temporal token until the Safecoin gets released. I think its an interesting project but im not sure if its viable.

The pump of the Maidsafe is finished. The Dash was pumped yesterday, but it also finished. I am wondering what is the next one.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 13, 2016, 08:40:59 AM
now is a good time to buy more ETC, or i should wait a little more?

I think it is better to wait until the destination of the 11 million ETC from the DAO hack is known. Otherwise it is too risky.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 13, 2016, 08:37:45 AM
Crickets.....may as well get used to it, these geniuses have bigger problems now than rolling back bail outs lol!

What problems:

The next 2 Forks are on the schedule for the Ethereum Foundation:

1) Metropolis

and

2) Serenity

Therefore, whilst you lot moan and groan on this ANN about history, everyone else is continuing with Network development.

That is planned fork and is essential for the development of the Ethereum. I have no problem with that. Maybe the ETC will not fork.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: August 13, 2016, 08:34:57 AM
if you have lots of money, it is good to hold bitcoin. but if you do not have money, it is better to grow bitcoin than just hold.

so when you grow and make a profit, you can save the most and hold for the long term.

Even if you have a lot of money but still it is better to keep them growing, if you dont want to risk them all then just do it with a half or just with a quarter of what you have, in that way if the price even drops in future you won't be in loss because you have been growing your bitcoins gradually with the time and if the price grows then you will earn a lot more profits then usual.
Holding is very simple, it just needs some patience, it is not necessary that you sell every time there is a price increase because that inrease could be more when you wait for a longer time, one should know how to have patience and treat his investment like a time deposit where there should be a definite time before you withdraw.

I bought some bitcoin in the middle of 2013. I have hold since then. I did not sell in later 2013, although I should sell with hindsight.

Although ETC has big volume but still there is not wallet ETC for android and it is make me doubt in ETC because there are not support or innovation for it.

It might take some time for the developers to work on it. I think the developers are observing at the moment. If nobody use ETC, there is no point supporting it.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC now number one coin in Poloniex (surpasses ETH in volume) on: August 11, 2016, 11:03:10 AM
I'm also mining ETC atm... But price is too unstable, i mine directly at exchange address and instantly dump coins

I know rthe price is unstable and i started mining the other day straight to an exchange and just dumped them as soon as i got them since i just wanted to make an instant profit, I since then moved back to ETH but changed my mind and went back over to ETC again and although the price is a bit chaotic i think im just going to mine and hold onto whatever i get and see what happens. You nevcer know, maybe ETH will kick the bucket and ETC will become the king of ethereum as it once was.

The ETC/ETH price has dropped in the last few days. The hash rate also decreased. The investors are wating for the ETC dump.

That might be true. There is a possibility that the DAO hacker will dump the ETC he got from hacking the DAO.
