Don't even think about it.

Is this the critical bug that was discussed on Reddit a while ago? Has nothing been done by the dev since then??

There is no such thing as "change addresses" in MultiBit. The address for change is picked from already existing addresses that you manually requested to create (except in the special case that you have exactly 1 address, in which case it would create a second address).
How does your reply help regarding the OP?

I guess the download-File is a Virus. I am not in a safe environment here to test it, but I would recommend for everybody, do don't download it.
Everyone can use the virus software scan the zip file first, then decide to do it. Follow my weibo here for update: http://weibo.com/3914834207/profile?topnav=1&wvr=5Why are you doing this? Did you forget your password? Do you remember parts of it? Or is it just a challenge?

I'm getting the below error message when starting up chainsnort. Any help? ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: '<!DOCTYPE html> <!--[if lt IE 7]> <html class="no-js ie6 oldie" lang="en-US"> <![endif]--> <!--[if IE 7]> <html class="no-js ie7 oldie" lang="en-US"> <![endif]--> <!--[if IE 8]> <ht ml class="no-'

>>> import ssl >>> ssl.OPENSSL_VERSION This will tell you which version you're using. (just in case someone didn't know) This is not reliable. On Ubuntu it will show 'OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013' even after the security upgrade. That's because you've upgraded the system-wide lib only. Python comes with its own openssl lib and must be upgraded separately.

The coin-eating bug discussed on reddit today, and perhaps even more so, the dev's negligent and downright silly response towards it has been appalling. IMHO security of funds and private keys should be the top priority of any wallet software. The prominent link to multibit from bitcoin.org puts users at risk and should be discontinued immediately, at least until this is resolved. Discussion of the infamous bug: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/22gt4r/major_mulitibit_bug_btc_gone_it_cost_me_all_of_my/

Bumpy, for not using multibit until the Dev mans up and helps me with this obvious bug.
This is frankly revolting. This isn't the first time it happens either. At this point I'd take this up to reddit. It's amazing how responsive and well-behaved people suddenly become after being singled out on /r/bitcoin.

OP_RETURN can be used to store references to external resources, say for example very long meta transactions that don't fit into 40 byte, an asset contract or whatever. The storage pointed to could be a website which lists something like <hash_used_in_op_return_tx><very_long_message> (for the sake of an example), a side chain or a P2P structure like a DHT. To my knowledge this was discussed several times, but never tested on a broader scale.
You know, an interesting question to ask yourself is if it's totally ok to just embed a hash of the actual data in the blockchain, and rely on the data itself being made available by some DHT or something, why can't Bitcoin itself do that to make blocks smaller and improve scalability? Remember that Bitcoin would work just fine if miners didn't validate transactions if clients implemented client-side validation, as is done in Mastercoin and Counterparty, and to a lesser extent, Colored Coins. What's so special about actually putting those tx's in the block? +1000 awesome point.

Are there any plans to somehow integrate bitcoin-based trustless exchanges into Electrum? A plugin would be awesome. I'm talking about cutting-edge stuff like Counterparty (there are others but this is the only one that has actually been up and running on mainnet for a while and is being vetted by Sergio Lerner and Peter Todd): https://counterparty.co

Why not just use the official windows binaries? That would be the fastest way to get boottleXCP up and running. They are on github repo, I don't have the exact link at hand though

hi ! before excuse my english... i m french ! during XCP ipo, i proof of burn 4 times btc in XCP on the same address but never above 1 btc in tot. today, i import my XCP on boottle xcp great but just the first transaction of four appaear in boottle xcp... how can i credit the others transactions ? Thks for your help. JMTOOCOOL have you checked your address with the http://blockscan.com ? Yes, on blockscan.com, my 4 transactions appear on my btc address. The XCP sum of four transactions are correctly. And you still get total balance in bottle xcp? my total balance in bottle xcp is just about my first transaction, not the third others Use the command line tool and not the Bootle XCP. Can you see the 4 transactions. (were the total of all 4 transactions < 1 BTC). If you got the Windows build of boottle, You can skip installing the Daemon from scratch by just holding down SHIFT while clicking on the icon. Then you can type counterpartyd -h to see the available commands

Only one thing to say: DON'T FEED THE TROLL. Even the other BTC devs are embarrassed.

Wow, the attitude of the Bitcoin core developers is the polar opposite of what I would have expected to see here.
Gents, I wonder which of the following responses Satoshi would have been ~most likely~ to give upon learning about the Counterparty project.
Would he have -
A) responded with excitement, and honored that others are building upon his work, done all he could to support the shared goals of both projects? Or would he have -
B) said "this is not what Bitcoin is for, you free-riding parasites!" or "I don't recall seeing a BIP for this, you intellectually lazy mofos!" and thrown the project under a bus?
I wonder if a little of the founding ethos may been lost here.
Actually, did you know that Satoshi had plans for a decentralized marketplace from day 1, built right into bitcoin.exe (when it was still windows only)? Evidence is in v0.1 of the Bitcoin source code.

Daemon mode is broken under Windows. Os.fork() cannot be used as it is not platform independent - it's a Linux-only function AFAIK.

Perhaps flatfly's chainsnort? Last I checked it had an RPC version that doesn't leak anything (able to connect to local bitcoind daemon).

Great news! Would be nice to tip the people that helped, and/or post the script that you used, so it can be helpful to others in the future...

I just did a push : https://github.com/JahPowerBit/counterpartywscounterpartyws can now be used in 3 ways : Heavy GUIYou must have bitcoind running. Counterpartyd follows blocks and uses local sqlite database to compose transaction. Light GUIYou must have pyrpcwallet running and set composer-host and composer-port in config file. Counterpartyws uses distant counterpartyws running as Transactions Composer. Transactions composerYou must have bitcoind running. Used by light counterpartyws to compose transactions. We can say light wallet is ready in beta version (BoottleXCP is in fact only a GUI for counterpartyws, yes a GUI for a GUI ;-)) I need now to embed pyrpcwallet and counterpartyws in boottlexcp, and make intensive tests (Sorry about that, but I really do not have time to test as much as I should. But I planned to write tests as soon as I have time) EDIT: Tomorrow I put online a counterpartyws in Transaction composer mode on xcpcomposer.jahpowerbit.org. LightGUI and pyrpcwallet sound pretty exciting! How can we (non developers) test this? And will it be possible to import existing private keys in the wallet?
