61  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin in 2017 on: December 24, 2016, 09:47:36 AM
I think, the vegetating period's over. It'll keep growing until... well, some people expect a crack here, but I think it won't be a crack. Many popular service accept Bitcoin now and the number of adaptors's continually growing. Building out this opportunity wasn't easy, I don't think they'd easily tell "Oh, we won't accept Bitcoin from tomorrow, sorry" when I understand that it was worth for them and made people happy.
62  Economy / Speculation / Re: And 2016’s best-performing commodity is ... bitcoin? on: December 24, 2016, 09:44:35 AM
It's crazy. Bitcoin's price's growing in an amazing pace. It's past $900 already. People who've bought or got BTC for Xmas have good reason to be happy now. We hope the best.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks accepting bitcoin on: December 24, 2016, 09:41:42 AM
That's a very good advertisement for Bitcoin. Starbucks's a trending service around here. It's trending from popular people who're telling how they love Starbucks so their followers will love it and then their followers. At least, that's what I've seen most of the times. Now, they can tell how they paid with Bitcoin in Starbucks :-)
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to start rewarding full nodes on: December 23, 2016, 09:58:56 PM
I agree, running full nodes is becoming a serious issue due to the size of blockchain and access speed and people who are willing to take this issue on themselves deserve some reward. But aren't they getting BTC for it, already? I thought if you ran a full node, you would profit from the network fee.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: December 22, 2016, 08:26:27 PM
I can understand that some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat because maybe in their countries the national fiat currency is weak and/or they are underpaid in fiat so getting payment in Bitcoin gives them advantage.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How serious is BTC to you? on: December 15, 2016, 06:57:58 PM
Thank you for your answers! From your answers I'm reading that everyone takes BTC serious in general. I think, that's not something to wonder on a crypto forum. However, some people trust BTC more than others. Some prefer to obverse BTC as an entity, how it behaves, what it'll become and maybe even deposit some money in it while others actively take part in BTC related projects and not only observe, but base further projects on BTC. From this view, I can read that there's a stable demand for BTC while it's still looked as an unstable currency by many. Hopefully, the latter will change soon. Thank you!

Cheers to that, banking system is very weak in terms of transaction, they do check well the transaction before approving and they have the power to freeze our accounts while here it cannot happen.

Also the fee. International bank transactions have horrible fees. In BTC, I know EXACTLY how much I will pay, I can EASILY calculate it and I can TRUST what I pay goes to improve the network that I'm using and not the Christmas gift of some already rich bankster.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used for Good? on: December 12, 2016, 09:16:36 PM
BTC helped me reach businesses that were far from my place. It gave me opportunities that I could not even dream about and nowadays it gives me a living. I appreciate the opportunities thanks to BTC and I love my way of living that it provides so yes, BTC is Good.
I agree. It also makes my transactions faster. Whenever I want to put my stuff in auction, I accept btc payments so thst I can easily sell my stuff and get my money.
Also, not only in business we can use bitcoins.
Like me, I also used bitcoins for paying my bill and buying loads. It's easy and instant, undeniably bitcoin is great.

Transaction time is a major reason why I prefer BTC. BTC is good because you can avoid delays due to banking shifts (some banks do not send transactions at night or at weekend) and among different banks in different times zones. BTC network works 24/7 and you do not have to adapt to the working time of banks' employees.

Maybe they are accounts of online wallets and the sellers could make money from them in the more comfortable way by selling and by selling redirecting the responsibity for stealing the money to the buyers. I can imagine how the business model works, but in your place I would be super cautious about them. Most of them must be scam.
71  Bitcoin / Mining / Is mining destroying my PC? on: November 30, 2016, 10:02:20 PM
In the ancient times, I used to mine with my high-end gaming PC. I thought that I never experienced any issue from it, but once my video card died.

My friend said that my video card died because it was old and I destroyed with running GPU mining.

Could that be true? Is mining harming the hardware?
72  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Agile software development and BTC on: November 27, 2016, 11:23:37 AM
We are using SCRUM to develop modern software projects in the company where I work. These software projects are like financial platforms that you can see around the forum, but we are doing it for fiat purposes. Does agile software development work in crypto projects too? What else could you use to develop BTC projects successfully?

Why not? The bigger problem with scrum is that it does not really work well when the team is remote, distributed and working across various time zones. This is even worse if the project is open source and developers are contributing their own time outside their regular work schedule. When would you run your daily scrum meetings?

Unfortunately, most projects I saw in crypto was what you wrote so they ALWAYS had difficulties with organising the meetings. I think I can state that undistorted Scrum rarely works well in similar projects. But what else could we use in crypto?

74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How serious is BTC to you? on: November 13, 2016, 07:51:40 PM
I would say that Bitcoin is currently a hobby for me that takes up a chunk of my time. It is more of an exciting experiment than a foundation of business at the current moment, since I am not making or investing that much money into it, but that might change if Bitcoin's popularity continues to increase. I hope to see the cryptocurrency being more accepted by people and businesses and hope that it can become as popular or a serious alternative to cash one day.

Are you not afraid of BTC becoming generally accepted in business on one day and your business will be in disadvantage to the organizations that were braver than you and invested more into BTC earlier? How will you determine the right time to invest a business amount into BTC?
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How serious is BTC to you? on: November 10, 2016, 05:55:03 PM
I read some replies, mainly in the Mining section that said mining was a fun hobby for them and not a thing that they could continue doing as a business. In the Project Development section I found many projects that generated profit like your local businesses.

How serious is BTC to you? Could you look at it as a foundation of business/job or is it just an exciting hobby/experiment?
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What benefits your favorit altcoin have to BTC? on: November 06, 2016, 09:01:36 PM
Unfortunately, I found that Burst is mostly dead when I did my research on it, but I hope someone will prove my wrong because HDD mining was a very tempting idea.

-snip-

I understand that ZEIT is a living altcoin. I will consider what you wrote. Thank you!
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What benefits your favorit altcoin have to BTC? on: October 29, 2016, 05:55:32 AM
I see that the two main benefits that people have to BTC with altcoins are the transaction time and trading potential. I think, these two alone are good enough reasons to have altcoins, but I appreciate that some altcoins demonstrate additional innovation too like...

ZEIT

No ASICS miners needed,
Our Energy requirements are less than a video game.
Our Number of coins run in the Billions so we will never lose the ability to process micro-transactions like BTC has.
Takes only 3 workstations to keep ZEIT network alive forever, plus it is economical to do so.
BTC has to run to ~$1300 per coin for me to double my money, ZEIT only has to go to 2 satoshi for me to double my money,
5 sat and I made 5 time my money, BTC does not have that potential.

That's an interesting concept. So, you do not have miners, but direct investments into ZEIT's price? Why do nodes work for then at ZEIT?
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What benefits your favorit altcoin have to BTC? on: October 24, 2016, 07:31:57 PM
Well it is kind of obvious, asic manufactors focus on one thing and one thing only sha 256, only a few companies are out there that focus on that, they mine internally and give the scraps later to the average user. Hard drives regardless of mining are used by every single computer out there (this is counting flash memory as well), many companies already exist to make these, there won't be the issue of self mining and home miners not being able to get hardware, if somehow this did create an increase in technology everyone regardless of mining would benefit. Power also is an issue, sure people could stack hard drives and data servers but a 6.5w to 9w for each typical 3.5inch hard drive. The antminer s9 consumes 1274w, you could have 141 hard drives compared to a single S9 (this is means home miners are able to attempt to compete on an average circuit).

So cool! Thank you alot! Thanks to your explanation I do not only obtained a better understanding about the benefits of Burst and got an example of the benefits of altcoins to BTC, but obtained a high level of interest, too, in Burst. I will have to check this altcoin out. I have access to free electricity, but getting asics are kinda difficult where I currently live. But I could get HDDs and could obtain the blessing of time if I start to mine it now and its price increases later in trading.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What benefits your favorit altcoin have to BTC? on: October 23, 2016, 08:49:53 PM
My favourite altcoin is Monero. I like it because of the anonymity it provides. Much more than Bitcoin do.

How does Monero provide more anonimity than BTC? It's the first time I'm reading this one.

I like Burst.
The "Proof of Capacity" mining method uses free hard drive space to mine coins and needs much less power than other coins to mine.
It's an interesting approach. "Green" mining that doesn't require a ton of GPU or ASIC running all day generating a ton of heat is an interesting idea.

The dev team has integrated a lot of things into the wallet- mining/ faucets/ and lots of plans for the future.
They have a lot of cool ideas for sure.

I can see your point, but if people start to invest into Burst mining, won't its mining difficulty go up just like at BTC? Then why would people choose Burst instead of BTC? People who can afford to invest into GPU / ASIC mining, could afford to invest into "Proof of Capacity", too, they would just buy HDDs instead of GPU / ASIC. Then what's the benefit of this concept?

Hello!

Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

What benefits do an altcoin have compared to BTC?

I wonder why we would like to have altcoins when we have BTC already.
