61  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] Hashrack.com - Realtime stats/Decentralized/Giveaway/PPLNS/Stratum/API on: January 30, 2013, 08:45:17 PM
Nice site... need some people to join now.. it's hard to leave the consistency of PPS though...  if you're hashing at around 200Mh/s, it will take a year to maybe get a block, no?

This is really REALLY true. actually i'm the only miner, this is for testing purposes to show at least some stats data. The PPS method will come, probably, we just have to wait and see how the pool grow.

Give me PPS, I'll move over.  Wink  I really am just a hobbyist though with 1000Mh/s setup.  You need a 100GH to make it really pay anything unfortunately.  The first few to sign up have no incentive, as it would take forever to find a block.

At the start of each new round (when someone has lost), you should randomize the starting price and the reset chance for that round.

That's an awesome idea!
63  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Ubuntu Headless Server 12.04 | Do miners exist? on: January 30, 2013, 03:26:42 PM
Hey everyone,

I'm currently running a home server that has Ubuntu Server installed (this isn't the server that I'm selling web hosting from, for anyone that finds this post and the other post). The server is headless and has an NVIDIA graphics card installed.

Are there any tutorials online or any software here that I can stumble through to try and get a mining client setup on it? I'd love to be able to mine 24/7 on a headless server, but everywhere I'm looking is leading me to dead ends.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give...

Ricky

There is a good tut for xbuntu, maybe you can port it?  But with that card, there is no point in mining, you'll make what... 70Mh/s?

Why not just code this as a webpage, and and drop the whole 'download an application' thing?

Many people are not on windows.

There is a law here that prices cannot be cheaper for cash purchases (and at the same time, cannot be more for cc purchases)... it's funny that it was brought in by VISA/Mastercard.  So we're safe from that crazy law here, but who knows, we always pick up the dumbest of USA laws it seems.

Wow, just called Canadian Bitcoin, they are only 4k north of me!  Yay... nice to be able to deal with a real person!

Looks like https://www.canadianbitcoins.com/ might be the winner.. I can send direct as a personal payee from TD Easyline!

The other site looks like an exchange, but not as straight forward.

I am looking to make an escrow purchase from another member on this forums, and I need BTC, since I only mine for fun, and gamble it all away, I need to buy my coins..

I'm in Canada, and need about $650-675 in USD worth of BTC.  What's the best way for me to go about getting this?

I see there are some sites selling, but I am always leery of sites without some research.. anything I can trust here in Canada?

Thanks
72  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Canon EOS 1D MkII + 550EX Flash on: January 28, 2013, 06:04:40 AM
$600 with a 550??

I'm in.

I'm in Canada (I can still cover shipping and duty), but I own a photography company... so you can look me up any time, pm me.

Couple questions:

- Has the camera ever been registered or serviced with CPS? (Who replaced the shutter)
- When you say it's soft on JPG, is that with any specific lens or focal length?  Doesn't make sense that RAW files are tack.
- What's the s/n (Flash and body), so I can look them up with Canon, make sure they're legit.

Thanks,

Hey, love the new Receivables info box on the payments page! ... No more going through links myself to find info.  One tip, can you make it fixed(Cool, rather than fixed(2)?  Looks like you have a lot of white space you can fill, and would match what you have down in the table.

Thanks for adding that data though!

What's your price in USD?

I've found that it takes about a week or so to get verified.... Just be patient.

That page takes forever to load for me... and then it seems to be all gibberish ... maybe I don't get the references...

I'm guessing this is USA only??  Doesn't apply to most of the world luckily, but I doubt it will be long before we all fall in line... argh.
78  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any Linux pros able to lend a hand to tune a server for high load? on: January 25, 2013, 05:43:13 AM
How many disks are you running, and in what configuration?

With only 2GB of ram, is your /var/lib/mysql and /home on the same drive? raid?

repentance has it right.  This forum seems to love drama...

Spilt the thread, and unless one is locked, you'll have two threads to deal with in a couple months... well, that is unless BFL does deliver, then this whole exercise becomes moot.
