Not a good news for the Gilas fans.

Scottie out of Gilas for Olympic qualifier
Quote
GILAS Pilipinas will have to make do with an 11-man crew in the coming Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Latvia.

Guard Scottie Thompson is the latest player to be stricken out of the national team as the former PBA MVP hasn't fully recovered yet from the bulging disc that has bothered him during Ginebra's campaign in the recently concluded Philippine Cup.

Thompson now joins fellow injured players Jamie Malonzo and AJ Edu on the sidelines.

But based on the latest article, he is included in the line up.

62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get your Dad (or Mom) to buy Bitcoin? on: June 21, 2024, 09:59:27 PM
Good for the effort but if you check those long thread and you will explain to your parents do you think they will understand?, tons of jargon words have been used I guess if you want to encourage them you must need to teach those things in an easiest way that they can understand like you are having a story tell to a kid that they can relate. Also open up the possible risk so by this you can give them an awareness for losing their money and gaining profits. You introduce to them you are responsible with that money you know how they give all of their hard work to gain that money.
Parents are more likely traditional in thinking rather than digital. Before you introduce Bitcoin to them, I'm sure a lot of questions and doubts will be raised, but maybe if you can explain to them the easiest way, they will certainly understand but that doesn't mean that they will invest. I have been in that situation where I have to convince my parents to try investing in bitcoin, but risking their retirement funds could be very hard for them and with that, I certainly understand them.

Bitcoin is not for old people who's minds are deteriorating, but it's certainly for highly enthusiastic people who's willing to invest and risk their funds after they have completely understood the nature of bitcoin.
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it time to buy the dip in Bitcoin as it drops to $64,000? on: June 21, 2024, 09:17:11 PM
It had dropped to $64k and then it will recover for sure, no matter what happens. Those that have been waiting for this dip should have bought.

Because if you haven't bought yet then we might see the movement of it to an increasing pattern. As they say, it's month of June that's always sluggish and bad month for the bullish folks.

But if you're really bullish at all, you should have bought at this time as this is the month where we've seen a lot of dips recently on this bull run.
Well, as soon as you see the price in dips, then always take the opportunity to buy at a lower price, otherwise you will regret why you didn't grab the opportunity. Bitcoin can be seen dumping its price in the market but obviously, it always recovers after that and even surge high and reach new heights. That's how sustainable bitcoin is, that worrying is not enough, but keep on hodling and hoping for bitcoin to reach its new all time high soon.
64  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Meme coins so how you trade them to make constant profits ? on: June 21, 2024, 08:36:59 PM
Well I think if you want to trade meme coins for profit then you are going to lose alot of money. There is so many of these meme coin projects and to trade these tokens is very hard to do.
Trading Bitcoin for fiat is so hard. But if you want to trade the meme coins it is going to not be a good results for you I do not think.
It will be better to buy meme coins like Doge and Shiba and Pepe and just for you to hodl them.If you want to have them in your crypto portfolio do not trade them just hodl.
Trading meme coins may bring profits for some but for others, it could mean gambling to them. The chances to gain positive outcome is very low, that's why a lot end up losing more than taking their profits. Meme coins are not just intended to be trade in the market, but more likely hold it for short term, otherwise if you can't have the perfect timing to sell them before its price drops low, you will definitely lose all your capital and even waste your time holding meme coins.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm happy I can finally say something about bitcoin. on: June 20, 2024, 03:00:01 PM

Considering the rate at which Bitcoin is spreading across the globe, it might be globally accepted as a means of exchange in all parts of the world in 10 years to come.
Yes, it is true that bitcoin is almost known to some of the world's population, but there are still those who do not want to participate in the technological development and progress of blockchain and digital money (bitcoin), regarding the problem of being a legal means of payment, I think this discourse is the hope of all Bitcoin holders, however as we know the government will never agree to that, and bitcoin will always be an investment tool other than gold

We can’t actually tell if the promotion of bitcoin will move to adaption 10 years from now. Yes, there could be increasing number of financial institutions that already recognized about bitcoin, but still majority of the world governments have still not accepted bitcoin as a currency, although the legalization of bitcoin has successfully done. As long as bitcoin remains decentralized, I don’t think this will come to possibility. Knowing the government won’t certainly adapt if they can’t totally control it in return, that’s how greedy the government is, or shall I say the officials sitting in their respective positions.
66  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Power of Social Trading: Can It Improve Decision-Making for New Traders? on: June 20, 2024, 02:01:34 PM
On one hand, it can be awesome to learn from the pros and see how they're reading the charts. On the other hand, blindly following someone else's signals might not be the best recipe for success. So, what do you think?  Could this kind of social sharing improve decision-making for new traders?
You can consider this as your learning guide but I don't suggest to fully rely on this, you have to consider the risk of doing trades without understanding it's fundamental strategy. You can all have the signal and advises from the pros but still at the end of the day you should have your own strategy that will fit for you, and by this you can have real success in trading.
This could open you to more tips and strategies in trading and just do your part studying them so you can take advantage of them when needed. However, know that other’s strategies may possibly work for them but won’t definitely work on you, that’s why you should have to do your own research and try them on your own. Otherwise, if you keep relying on them for your trading decision making, you won’t learn and grow on your own, and won’t develop your own trading skills and strategies knowing you only adapt what has worked for them.
67  Economy / Economics / Re: True wealth comes from income when you sleeping but earning on: June 19, 2024, 09:44:58 PM
The great Warren Buffett said,  “If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”

He’s mostly right isn’t it. Try to create a passive income if possible.
Precisely. However, not everyone is capable to make an income while sleeping, that's why a lot struggle in dealing and managing their finances not to end up shortage. But in all honesty, it's never the worth of the investment that becomes a problem, but most likely on the type of mindset that we continue to adapt even if we know already that it's not getting us the best advantage.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What initially brought you into Bitcoin? on: June 19, 2024, 09:11:30 PM
BTCWhat initially brought you into Bitcoin? and what made you stay?

Initially I was introduced to a friend who was already familiar with Bitcoin, he said if I wanted to get Bitcoin I could work on one of the forums and platforms that held bounties first,
to this day I still persist in participating in bounties and airdrops, because I think hunting for crypto and bitcoin can make money and can help my family and partner's finances
Gaining Bitcoin is more likely getting a good amount of profits as well, as the value of every bitcoin is like a thousand folds of USD when converted. So obviously, we all come here for significant amount of profits, something that is hard to find when we only settle in our day job. Although the process how we get here varies, but still we end up with a common goal, that is to own bitcoin that will completely change our way of living.
69  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Persevering Through Crypto Trading Losses on: June 18, 2024, 09:29:10 PM
We should not stop learning because if we stop, we will not for sure grow as individual traders in this field of crypto space. Facing loses can help us to grow more and to learn a lot from the mistake we made, at in that way we think deeply to resolve it the next time we do trade again and again here in the crypto space, isn't?
It is good to continue to trade after some losses, but if the losses is huge and it is getting more than 2 or 3 or 4 or more years, trading may not be for the person. In reality there are people that trade and continue to lose. Some people's losses comes from greediness and as a result of looking for huge win, but while trading, they will only experience losses. Such people should just quit and wait for the right time to hold their coins.
Trading has some inevitable losses that even professionals still lose in the process. But if you are experiencing the most of your trades losing and it’s already affecting your finances, I think you should already give a lot of thinking to it if you are going to pursue it or quit it for good.

Sometimes, what we expect to give us the best results could probably give us the worst scenarios and turn us into losers. Not all trades are good and profitable, that sometimes traders end up quitting from trading if they have seen it’s not working on them anymore.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Akhmadaliev ordered by the WBA no later than September 25 on: June 17, 2024, 02:03:35 PM
I don't think we need a poll for this fight, even if Inoue suffered a knockdown, it's a flash knockdown where the fighter gets a knockdown but was not visibly hurt or affected.
Agree. After that last fight of Inoue, though he got knock down but somehow he impressed the fans as he was able to stand up like nothing happened. We can see he really has the strenght and stamina that makes him more a complete fighter. So even if he'll get knock down in his upcoming fights, we won't be worried as we know he will come back to end the fight in a knock out. No boxer could beat Inoue in this division, but I only see casimero being the closest to Inoue despite Casimero's bad ranking.

I don't think Akhmadaliev style and power can offer something different from what his past opponents whom he easily dispose.

Inoue will just add Akhmadaliev to boxers he dominated and knockout before going into the upper division, no one in his division can offer resistance to his domination in the division, the Casimero fight is not going to happen as the Inoue or all boxing organizations shut out a Casimero fight.

This guy loss to Marlon Tapales via split decision, if we use Tapales as a gauge, then we know what will happen, this will likely end in a brutal KO.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 17, 2024, 01:10:07 PM
Speaking of imports, Brownlee still could not come back since he might be serving a penalty, so we might see new imports coming for Ginebra. That will be a different story for sure, as so far, JB has been their best import. Also, there are rumors that the PBA is going to invite an overseas team like before. Would this happen?
I'm not sure what's next but the rumor is that with an import and if possible, they're going to make it 2 imports per team.

This has not happened before, right?

No offense to the fans, but in my honest opinion, I don't see it entertaining. I can't imagine what would happen, it will only become a battle of imports where our local will not be able to show their talents. IMO, one import is already enough, just like before, it's already entertaining and as I can see, the love of the fans to the PBA is slowly coming back, so they just have to continue what they are doing.
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 17, 2024, 06:05:08 AM
Congratulations to Meralco Bolts for winning the season 48 Philippine Cup. Wow, that's a long history for them before winning a title. For 14 years, they have to be too patient with that and never gave up. I thought that it's gonna be a game of SMB and we'd see a 7 but it didn't.
That last shot of Newsome really made the team proud of their own. I remember him being there for the Gilas on the bench even if he's not part of the roster, now, he deserves to be there. I guess that everyone is going to agree or was he already included?

Newsome's defense was highlighted on him but after becoming a champion in the Asian cup, his confidence boosted and he again got another championship. remember that even if he was only bench that time, he was the one who was assign to guard the best player of Jordan and he did a great job on that.
No doubt. He deserves this championship and that highlight shot that finished this series, for sure that it's going to be told by him and all of his fans to their apo's and will always be happy to tell it as a great story of that very first championship for the entire history of Meralco.
I guess that MVP is surely going to give hefty amount of bonuses to the entire team for this very successful run that they have for this Philippine Cup. Despite that some fine were made to Nenad, still, that didn't bother them at all.

The time is due for Newsome to finally win a championship. Now, people can say that Meralco is a good team since they won the All-Filipino Cup, and some can also say that Ginebra is not really good because they can't win without Justin Brownlee.

By the way, what will be the next conference for the PBA? I can't seem to find any information on the website, but I guess the next conference will have imports, right?

Speaking of imports, Brownlee still could not come back since he might be serving a penalty, so we might see new imports coming for Ginebra. That will be a different story for sure, as so far, JB has been their best import. Also, there are rumors that the PBA is going to invite an overseas team like before. Would this happen?
73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 17, 2024, 05:12:19 AM
The fourth game went as I expected, the Celtics did nothing to win and gave up too early. It was like they missed shots on purpose, they weren't focused at all. They want to finish this series at home and celebrate in front of their fans. Game 5 is a good opportunity for that, but if things go wrong and the series will be 3-2, I can't imagine Game 6 in Dallas. The Celtics have to finish this series in Game 5.

Somehow I was expecting for Boston to win game 4 to avoid possible upsets. But a lot are indeed expecting it so Boston can crown in front of their adoring fans. The game was a little obvious. There were even times when the Dallas crowd were silent, probably because it's obvious and there's no excitement on that game. There were three point attempts Boston made early in the game that couldn't even touch the ring. There were some good drives to the basket where all of a sudden they just passed it back to their team mates.

Anyways, I am hoping for Boston to close the series in game 5. It's a must because they cannot give Dallas a momentum. It'll be a shame if they're the first team to lost from a 3-0 lead.

They got outplayed in that game, if that happen in game 3 as well, then this series would become more unpredictable. But here we are, it will be game 5 tomorrow and I cannot disagree with you, the Boston Celtics has to win the game and finish the series so they Mavs will not gain that confidence that will only put the chance of Boston in the line if they'll allow another game. They know how dangerous the Mavs at home, so if can't finish the business tomorrow, I guess we can expect a game 7 here.

I think it's time for them to bring back KP in the line up to add sa lenght. According to the update from ;
https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/celtics-kristaps-porzingis-questionable-for-game-5/

He is still questionable if he can play, I don't what to expect but in game 4, he suit up but didn't play, so most probably the injury might be serious. What you guys think the Celtics should do to end the series? i'm sure it will be hard for them to forget what happened in game 4, so can they bounce back strong in game 5?
74  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An analogy in gambling. on: June 17, 2024, 03:54:58 AM
Do you believe this analogy as to sport betting? that sometimes, casino bets with higher stakes are likely to not cut it? Considering the amount that a certain multiplier could reach?

I've known a certain group of gamblers that would sing their praises to games with lower potential winnings. At some point, I'm stuck in-between the fact that they're either lucky with games of little potential winnings and it happens on almost every winning tickets? Again, if you're also in doubt to their belief, is their winning tickets on the low outcome always a coincidence? Also, if the casinos are always cautious as to not incuring too much to pay, how about tickets with $800k winnings?
I don't understand what this would have to do with belief? Higher multipliers are harder to win, that's why they are higher multipliers. If casino / bookmaker allows higher multipliers, they are counting in that the probability of how low your changes are to get it. And they are often lower than we can comprehend.

And it's not like one huge pay off once in a while would break their bank, after all they are dealing with millions of smaller wins daily. Both giving them out and keeping the lost bets.

True, it's all about probability not the amount of your bet. Actually, we can use this too (https://www.aceodds.com/bet-calculator/odds-converter.html) to calculate the implied probability based on the odds the sportsbook would offer, just input the odds, and you'll see the implied probability.

A ticking with $800k winnings but a bet of $100k has lower probability than a ticket with $800k winnings but with a bet of $800k... That's the simple logic behind that, don't overthink too much, and just understand it's all probablity.
75  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 16, 2024, 09:30:48 PM

Yeah, not this time. Meralco understood that if there's a game 7, that will only put their chances at risk. Imagine for how many long years, they finally won a championship, and that in an all Filipino cup against a powerhouse team. I guess this win of Meralco will also gives confidence to the other teams that SMB is not anymore unbeatable. Great job Meralco, congrats!

Congratulations to Meralco Bolts for winning the season 48 Philippine Cup. Wow, that's a long history for them before winning a title. For 14 years, they have to be too patient with that and never gave up. I thought that it's gonna be a game of SMB and we'd see a 7 but it didn't.

When they don't have the system to monitor crypto transactions, then they should just easily announce a ban in crypto for online gambling transaction. Indeed, they are against innovation, I think they should learn from other countries, I mean if a country could regulate a crypto exchange, there should be no difference with regulating an online casino with crypto as part of the payment system.

If this information is correct, we can see that Brazil had allowed crypto exchanges to operate, with the following names.

77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 16, 2024, 10:50:02 AM

To bad if the splash brothers will be separated since we know how exciting to see them play together with Steph. But that's how business works on NBA and maybe the owner can't handle to pay huge luxury tax anymore and they need to create a big move so they can build up their team into a title contender without paying another huge taxes again.

They are exciting to watch before but Thompson's performance have declined and he is not anymore showing great percentage of his outside shooting. So as you've said, business is business, they need to rebuild the Warriors with a new players coming in while letting out those who are high paid players like Thompson. I would even want Wiggins as well to be traded so they'll have plenty of room to get a new players that could blend with Curry, it's time to try for a new experiment since they failed badly last season.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 16, 2024, 09:35:26 AM
Yeah, it's a sunday game and in terms of fans who can watch live I agree that the volumes of those people who will support SMB might be more compared with Meralco not unless MVP will bring his money in terms of ticket sales, which is also possible since they need the numbers of supports as it can boost the adrenaline inside the players.
So guys, you ready with yout bets? I guess it's time for SMB to even the series but I have a little doubt if they could cover the spread.
From -3.5, there's a little movement which is currently -4.5 now, I guess it's just a normal movement, but is -4.5 already good for SMB bettors?

Also, as we've seen in the past games, most of them went under, so this could be another under game as it's a do or die game, it should be more physical for both teams.

I like game 7 too..

Let see if SMB will manage that push and win this upcoming game 6, if they, well, knowing SMB's capabilities they can change the momentum and if I'm in the side of Meralco I will never give that opportunity if I can take this game, though we can't conclude the fate
of both teams, it will be depends from how they will play the game/s.

Who wouldn't like game 7. All I want is to see SMB playing strong from the very start to end, they should nail that 3 point shoots with high accuracy, because without that, it will be hard for them to win.
79  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Biggest Crypto Mistake: Shorting Bitcoin on: June 15, 2024, 09:50:53 PM
More than anything it's all about timing. Even though I would never short bitcoin but I wouldn't call it wrong per se. The problem is when people short bitcoin after the drop is over thinking (better say hoping) the price would go lower some more. This is when they get rekt.

For most people the best bet is to invest in bitcoin for long term rather than trying to play the market and make short term profit.
Short term profits is fine, but long term hodling is what makes profits satisfying. So don't just invest in seek for short term profitability but always go for the long term. Aside from going bitcoin with timing, it's also a must to never underestimate the power of holding bitcoin. At the end of the day, there's more to profits and sustainability if you have deep faith for bitcoin to keep it long term.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin not coin memecoin on: June 15, 2024, 08:58:49 PM
Bitcoin is a currency, not a stock, and that means it will go up if it has more adoption and will go down if it receives less adoption as in people leaving it).

Right now, only a tiny percentage of the global population holds Bitcoin right now so as more people keep buying it, the Bitcoin price will continue to go up until such a time when a healthy percentage of people have already bought their Bitcoins and there are not as many buyers.
While bitcoin serves as a currency, it can also be a good investment for majority of us here. Which means if people will keep accumulating bitcoin and buy regardless of its price, it’s value will keep surging high despite of its volatile nature. Although we can’t expect it to consistently rise and reach new all time highs all the time, but with higher adaption and patronization from people all over the world, bitcoin price will be seen skyrocketing most of the time until it reaches its new all time high.
