61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoins are for hipsters on: April 29, 2013, 08:27:54 AM
The butthurt can be smelled from miles away, OP.

This hipster right here made 10000 USD with FTC.

If you like FTC so much, why do you disrespect them by having "FC" in your sig?

Because that's actually their ticker symbol. "FRC" is Freicoin.

But you haven't heard of Freicoin, have you?

Actually, I hate to say this, but FTC is now the official abbreviation, it will be updated in the Client over the next week or so!

Either way Feathercoin is remarkable progress!  Cool
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: O Canada! Introducing the MintChip! on: April 29, 2013, 01:14:23 AM
its been discontinued already
lol, I wonder why it failed? I'm guessing security exploits.

Yea, the backdoor password was "Hockey" - some drunk teenage hacker cracked it.

Lol that was quick Cheesy

Now there is Irony  Undecided

Of course the banks won't want anything they can't centralize to succeed, but what they are forgetting is the sheer security needed to have money in a digital format, BTC has taken 4 years to get just over 11,000,000 extremely secure digital mintage, what are these Banks gonna use in 4 seconds/minutes/weeks/months even years with next to no hashing power?? - MD5 LOL? Either way it will be something that without a shadow of a doubt will be hacked/copied and generally targeted for total fraud and with total ease... LMAO we will see who shall win!

I'm stocking up on popcorn for this one!  Cool

There are lots of others but this is the only one I have used.

And I have used Coinotron for my mining pool successfully for over 5 months with no problems at all.

Thanks. I added the LiteDice site.

I am aware of Coinotron, but they have had some recent issues, I think I will wait until a few more current users weigh in before adding them.

Yes I read that, I think it's sorted now, but I'm mining FTC now so can't be 100% sure - If its any consolation there have been issues in the past but they have always been resolved amicably in the end.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FTC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 26 LTC | Ask 26 LTC] on: April 29, 2013, 12:31:05 AM
Eitherway the more the merrier

You're right, and besides, coding an exchange engine from scratch would be a fun challenge anyway for a nerd like me.

Coding the exchange bit I wouldn't mind myself, its securing the damn thing that would give way too many sleepless nights!
Good luck and If you need it; I'll help in anyway I can (apart from security Cheesy)

Much more demand to make something automated.

I keep putting off coding anything like this because I figure places like BTC-E already have the engine written and could probably put up a FC market in a matter of an hour or less if they chose to. Then I put it off because cryptonit came out. I think perhaps it's something I should do a little of in my spare time in case this opportunity comes up again in future! Also, what ever happened to the 'bitparking' guy? He was usually quick to come out with new markets.

I'm not much skilled in web development and web security, so i started to develope simple orderbook on Joomla + Plugins, but after announce of cryptonit stopped. And if someone is developing a suitable exchanger, then I will not continue, except for extra experience.  Cool

Eitherway the more the merrier as the whole point is to be decentralised in every way. Even BTC has experienced the problems that can be caused by having one main exchange and is now slowly spreading its trading across various new & existing exchanges.
68  Economy / Economics / Re: Country distribution based on forum posts on: April 28, 2013, 11:10:06 PM
Maybe change the title to 'Native Language' distribution? All this is telling me (unless I'm missing something?) is that more Russians prefer Russian, than Germans prefer German. Also, most EU country members speak better English, than us English do (grammatical errors intended) Grin
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FTC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 21 LTC | Ask 19.75 LTC] on: April 28, 2013, 10:44:44 PM
I think it's time for everyone to move into cryptonit. No any sense in this manualy editable sheet anymore. I'll freeze sheet in 12 hours, unless it would be a LOT of PMs with ask to not to do that =)

If people are happy to trade here then so be it. I'd say until people feel confident enough to move to an exchange...Let this roll on for now...
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining FTC vs LTC (simple math inside) on: April 28, 2013, 10:30:27 PM
Maybe because as Dificulty rapidly increases in some days it wont be this way.

Difficulty recently "jumped" from 24 to 27, which means peak of hashpower dedicated to FTC is almost reached. As with all coins by now after their release, there was
a hype phase followed by major price drop phase - make sure you dumped your FTC before price soon hits lowest ever value. Naive ones will lose, smart ones will win.

Like BTC & LTC did? Roll Eyes
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I think Feathercoins will be a succes on: April 28, 2013, 10:10:42 PM
Of course we dont need that many, but what is stopping people from competing and improving. Look at how many credit cards there are.

Feathercoin improves nothing. Oh, 4 times more coins.  LOL, there is zero reason why feathercoin is valued as much as it is in the first week of its' debut.

Feathercoin is for people/noobs who missed the BTC boat and the LTC boat and who can't mine even LTC efficiently with their rigs anymore. This is why FC even exists, oh also for get rich quick scammers.  It is a parasite.

I won't do business with anyone trying to hype FC. I put them on ignore immediately.

Oh, ignore op.

Cheers.

BTW it's FTC Wink
And that is why most GPU miners have moved over to LTC from BTC, as for can't mine LTC anymore have you seen dodg's 136+ m/Hs pumping away at FTC?
And it's the FREE MARKET that decides it's value, same as BTC & LTC.

72  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin the Bubblecoin on: April 28, 2013, 09:55:07 PM
I've been talking with a friend of mine for over two years about investing in Bitcoin.

Imagine if your friend had invested two years ago.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining FTC vs LTC (simple math inside) on: April 28, 2013, 09:30:25 PM
Another (not so simple math inside - for me anyway Grin) But I am noticing an ever so slight increase in hashing power over LTC, I could only ever manage 1260 avg with LTC (and that was constant over a 5 month period - regardless of which pool I used) yet with the same settings on FTC I am seeing 1294 avg (after a week)... I know LTC & FTC are very similar concepts, so I wonder does the difficulty also affect hashing power? Or could it be the block reward?....Or something else?... Genuine questions as I really ain't got the foggiest why....
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCalc for Android... on: April 28, 2013, 06:09:52 PM
v1.1 now pushed:

Changelog:
Update to reflect FTC as official naming for Feathercoin, also aligned calculator graphic to be more central.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 28, 2013, 01:59:26 PM
ISO-4217 states that the first two letters should be country code Smiley Perhaps one day an ISO for crypto currency will come out and I bet that will have three letters too.

I will update the clients to use FTC and publish in the week. No need to update but I will post back here when the change has been made.

Great news, I must admit FTC seems the way to go, I'll update my app from FC to FTC too.

78  Other / Off-topic / Re: Smoothie Public Diary (Unmoderated) on: April 27, 2013, 10:22:37 PM
repost sorry:

Here is the thing, I could easily afford 50BTC to go to this conference or meetup or secret meeting, but I don't wish to because of the following reasons:

1. I'm not better than anyone and any meeting in which the tone is set for that by limiting entrants and making only for the "wealthy" is an elitist form of mockery of the poor.

2. Having a public agenda for a bitcoin meeting or conference makes sense. Then people can decide if the topics to be discussed or events/activities are suitable for their interests/needs/wants. Going blindly is stupid.

3. Based on reptilia's recent actions with his 13 BTC does not give me any more confidence that his running a meetup or conference might not net more fails.

4. 50 BTC is more productive being given to businesses for products or development, not fancy hotel accommodations.

Smoothie I don't know you but I love you (In a bromance type of way - Ie: I don't really short long bottoms Cheesy), you have me really lol'ing on most of your posts...Awesome!

By the way you are definitely the Devil in disguise with your 6666 post count!  Cool
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 16 LTC | Ask 15 LTC] on: April 27, 2013, 10:01:33 PM
So to be clear, Mincoin was bronze to bitcoin and now feathercoin is bronze?

IMO - Currencies should not be anything to another currency if they don't actually improve upon the code in some way.  Someone copy/paste LTC code and called it feathercoin and people are jumping on it?

Funny enough my reply to your extremely similar post over on the Feathercoin forum applies here too:  Undecided
So I will quote it....

There is not really much to improve with LTC IMHO, it's pretty much bullet proof and fast anyway,  but trillions (amount of people? Amount of money? You choose) into 21,000,000 or 86,000,000 or even 336,000,000  just won't go....
...Without decimalization. we are already seeing BTC using up those places for small item purchases even a kettle or microwave oven would decimalize you in BTC nowadays Cheesy and eventually LTC will do the same, FC seems an extremely logical transition to me.....

...Why?....I believe that the average person hates working with decimal points (average being 90+% of the population), most geeks don't, but then again we are not average that's why we are geeks Undecided And yes most current & early adopters of all crypto currencies are geeks (whether they admit this or not is a different matter).

....Anyway EG: Most people would sooner pay in whole numbers as opposed to 0.001 BTC or 0.01LTC - well now they can with 10FC etc, etc and their may even be another coin that is x4 (1,344,000,000 mintage) to FC and so on....

...So increasing the amount of mintage of an already proven system (IE: Why try and fix what isn't broken?) really does seem another step in the right direction of this amazing concept/technology.

That's my view anyway and I may also be wrong or right Grin
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin rallying cry for ... on: April 27, 2013, 07:36:49 PM
For LTC I usually say Run Chikun Run (I know its mainly Rise Chikun Rise that is said on BTC-E troll box - but I like being different), I suppose also I'll now have to say Fly Feather Fly once it hits the exchanges.  Grin
