61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 06:59:34 AM
Having difficulty getting my new cubes set up.  I am fairly confident I have everything set correctly but it is not connecting to my proxy and not hashing.

What do the LEDs on the back mean?  I have a solid RED one for status. (I assume it just means it is offline and not working)

I am just using default setup right now, but I did change ports to 8332 because the proxy showed this is the port it is listening to.

I have have a 1000W 80 plus gold power supply - Plenty of juice and nothing else on it.

I have turned off all software firewalls on proxy host and in router.  Also disabled antivirus settings.

I am not using WIFI...everything is over cat5.

I can ping cube & proxy machine both directions

I received two cubes, and have tried both.  And only trying to get one going right now on power supply.  They both seem to be properly functioning.  Same lights/indicators

I can log into web interface and make changes with no problem

I quickly tried "getwork" on OZ pool to bypass stratum proxy, but no luck either.  (But I was pretty hammered/frustrated by now!)

Ok guys, any ideas???

I've been seeing a lot of people setting their DNS to the same thing as the Gateway and setting the secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8.

Try using Open DNS as someone suggested earlier, I did this and it's been working fantastically:
Primary DNS   208.67.220.220
Secondary DNS   208.67.222.222

Run ipconfig on the machine running the miningproxy.exe just to make 100% sure that your IPv4 Address is exactly the same as what you're setting both of your pool addresses to.

Also, your miningproxy port does not have to be identical to the pool ports on the cube. I'm running 8332,8332 on both of my cubes with the following as a miningproxy.exe batch file and its running just fine:
mining_proxy.exe -o nl1.ghash.io -p 3334
Insert whatever pool above you're using.

For ozcoin try this:

mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.ozco.in -p 3333

I've had my cube running great for the past few days.

But this morning I attempted to solo mine a SHA256 altcoin with my cube and I couldn't figure out how to get it working.

Has anyone setup solo mining with the cube at all? If so could you give me some pointers?

For the cube specifically all I did was change the pool ports.

My altcoin.conf file was normal, but I wasn't sure if I needed to point the RPCALLOWIP at either the miner or the IP of the computer running the altcoin.exe file with -server.

Additionally, it's my understanding that with solo mining you wouldn't using miningproxy? I even tried using miningproxy but that didn't work either.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I got an email 12/10 tracking shows it has been shipped out but not yet in my area.

USPS prioity mail

You were one of the first people to order, so that makes sense. I hope that Canary isn't waiting to send mine out on Friday just because that's what I set the shipping date as on the label. When I made the USPS label I had no idea when he would be able to start shipping, so I just put Friday as a guess.

Any update?  Sorry, I'm a little antsy... was hoping to get the Cube by this weekend.

Never got an email back and was wondering if I messed up the format or something...

He said he would email us when he got everything around.

I haven't seen any movement on my tracking numbers or gotten an email so I'm going to assume he's still working on stuff. Just be patient.

Well, I've only got one cube so far, ordered from SSB and Canary. I ordered the Cube from SSB after ordering from Canary and the SSB Cube got here first. Haven't heard word from Canary about the cubes, but often with him no news is good news.

I'm currently using the Antec 620 that I had around and I've had zero problems, now to see if it can last through the night. I've got the Corsair 800 GS on order from Amazon that will be here Friday. I'm fairly confident the PSU will get here before the other two cubes do sadly.

What worker difficulty are you running your one at? Also what pool?
68  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 12, 2013, 05:49:09 AM
Also, new question.

Now that I've got the cube running, what is the suggested mining difficulty? I've got it at 64 right now with according to the cube page around 96% efficiency.
69  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 12, 2013, 05:34:41 AM
Dogie, just wanted to say, thanks for the guide! Got my cube today and got it up and running after about 2-3 hours of troubleshooting. The router gave me the biggest amount of trouble but after that was fixed I was up and running at around 38GH. If it wouldn't have been for this guide I definitely wouldn't have got it turned on this fast.

Thanks!

Got my miner in the mail today and after some fuckery its running!

Great packaging SSB! No rattling, everything is running great, no board problems at all! I'm sitting at about 37.9 GH without issue here = )

For shipping, each cube will be in it's own 8x8x8 box. each box is 7 pounds. you should consider insurance, it's up to you...

so if you have 2 cubes on order, you'll send 2 labels, 1 for each cube.
3 on order, send 3 labels etc... etc...
6 Cubes ordered, please send 6 labels.

it's important that the weight is 7 pounds.  if it's not, post office could delay shipping.

I'm not using Region C boxes because they are just not very cost effective as it turned out last time.

those who have fedex accounts or can email me a fedex label, you can do so.

When creating the labels via USPS/FedEx, it's up to you to choose the type of service: Priority/Express, Ground/Next Day etc...

I do have tracking from friedcat.  As I see the shipment progress (enter US for ex.) I'll post updates here.

USPS labels have been sent to your email. Please let me know if there are any issues, thanks!

for people w/o shipping accounts, ~$12 is about right.

How are you seeing 12 dollars?

For me, 7lbs, (Choose your own box) Priority MailŪ Service (Non-flat Rate) is 21.12.

That sounds dangerous due to different voltage/wattage all that.

I was wondering, would either of these two power supplies be enough to run two Cubes? Additionally, if either one can run two cubes, can they be set to high? Or must they be set to low?

http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-700W-StealthXStream-Power-Supply/dp/B001IZ5O0M/

I own these two already, the first one is brand new still unopened, the second one was running a 6990 for a while in the spring without issue.

If neither of those can power two at the same time with overclock I'll probably go for one of these three: (unfortunately I don't get paid till friday sadface)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006TVQTFE/ (The 900 watt version)
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-Series-800-Watt-GS800/dp/B00ALSNDM8/
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029F21LA/
I wouldn't risk 2 cubes on either of those two PSUs, even at low for 24/7.

Okay, thanks for the advice, that's what I was thinking as well. It's just a bummer to know that if my 3 cubes ship during the week I'll only be able to power 2 until I get paid and can afford/order one of the nicer power supplies.

I ended up getting a Spotswood case before I cancelled my bitfury miner order, would anyone be interested in purchasing it from me? I haven't opened it, still in its original packaging.
