61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Credits (CS) partners with Lenovo - moon? on: September 04, 2018, 10:57:39 AM
I'm surprised CS isn't up more already, only about a 10-15% increase since the news broke.
This partnership would not make CS itself pump to about 40% increase or above instantly because IMO credible news sources are still not announcing it yet(I have googled the same news but only Reddit and localbitcoins blog are the most reliable at the moment). Either way, I cannot wait to see what their partnership(combining Internet of things and AR) would bring to the world.
62  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Electric cars are the future, but not with batteries. on: September 04, 2018, 10:06:00 AM
What happens if you use the free energy from the solar panels on your house? That seems to me to be more efficient than oil-powered cars and certainly cheaper (assuming you don't but a ridiculously expensive electric car that will take you a lifetime to recoup the costs of).
It would not be more efficient since it will take a longer time to charge electric cars using the free energy from the solar panels unless someone can invent a more convenient solar panel that can speed up the electric car charging to at least an hour. Nevertheless, oil-powered cars would still be better to use in long-distance travels since refilling up their tanks is faster than waiting for an electric car's full charge.
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good or bad? 18% of US students own cryptocurrency on: September 03, 2018, 12:07:02 PM
If the sample and methodology were well-defined.
Since it is not well defined, let us assume that the research conducted by Coinbase utilized convenience sampling in selecting the students that have been surveyed in the school. The sample though IMO is well defined. it is stated in their blog that:
Quote from: Coinbase link=https://blog.coinbase.com/the-rise-of-crypto-in-higher-education-81b648c2466f
To assess the current landscape of cryptocurrency in higher education, Coinbase analyzed the courses at the world’s top 50 universities as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. Our study focused on classes available to undergraduate-level students in the fall 2018 semester or the most recent semester for which information was available online.
Thoughts?
I think Coinbase here is just wasting their time and money conducting such small-scale study. They should have had decreased the margin of error for their findings to be more reliable.
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New token on: September 03, 2018, 11:16:18 AM
there is token just finished ico and the price 1$ and some people sell 1000 token. I mean what happen if no one want to buy this token. is that make project die?
Price will be as is and will continue to be 1$ so long as no one will create a sell order lower than 1$. Keep in mind that price is reflected only when someone bought and sold some tokens and with that in mind, so long as no trades below 1$ you should not worry about it. If someone puts a sell order lower than 1$ it also would not mean that the project will die. The only bad sign of a coin turning into a shitcoin is when it is slowly decreasing to 1 satoshi from 20 or more without an increase at all for a long time.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this real Satoshi twitter handle? on: September 03, 2018, 10:05:17 AM
what makes it fake is the fact that apart from the name this account has nothing to do with Satsohi and if it did then it would have started by providing a cryptography proof of identity already.
Also, Satoshi would have had been active first in his account here in bitcointalk if he wanted to go back discussing his invention. IMO, he would not suddenly use twitter out of the blue to discuss it without hearing something from his account here. Also, he can provide the latest posts that he made if he really was the real Satoshi, not just old messages of Satoshi which can be accessed easily by the public.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tokens or coins? on: September 02, 2018, 08:04:37 PM
I will also prefer to pick coins over tokens because the former has its own blockchain up and running and have a longer history than the latter. Also, most of the tokens are useless especially those made by devs only to gather some money for themselves making investment risk higher than when one holds coins. For now, I'd say that tokens are also nice to have but do not put much hope into it. Just hold it short term.
67  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin forecast by swarm intelligence - project conception on: September 02, 2018, 10:40:37 AM
For my first impression, I think the site itself is good but you should enforce your guest to write on English or if not, enable an auto-translate feature on the opinions so that when users who don't understand the language used in writing the opinion looks at it, they will understand it. Also, I think the website has a few users at the moment and I hope you will continue to work harder towards making it more known.
68  Other / Meta / Re: Do you have problems with login on Bitcointalk with the captcha on: September 02, 2018, 08:45:52 AM
In my case, I don't always encounter such problems with login when logging into bitcointalk every day (because I don't like the stay logged in feature). Although that is the case, I experienced a similar problem two months ago and from my observations, the login problem was caused by the google captcha thinking that you are a bot. To solve the problem at hand, you only need to use an ISP with a dynamic IP. If you are using VPN, it would be better if you will use a VPN running on your own VPS server or on not widely known VPN service provider.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 42% of Top 50 Universities Offer at Least One Crypto-Related Class on: September 01, 2018, 10:36:02 PM
It will be better if you just posted the link of the article here for further review.
As OP has stated, it is easy to google but for those lazy enough to look for credible sources, here it is:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/coinbase-research-42-of-top-50-universities-offer-at-least-one-crypto-related-class
It catches my attention since our country is not making any improvements when it comes to the quality of the education regarding the emerging information era. Most of the schools here do not have any related subjects about blockchain which is indeed sad, the chance of the spreading awareness of the blockchain technology has decreased.
Do not expect them to have any related subjects about blockchain yet. Those universities that offer at least one crypto-related class are still just experimenting with it and if they think having one would not be beneficial to the society as a whole, they will without a doubt stop offering it. If you want to see a school in your country offering the same course as them, wait for at least half a decade or more. If crypto adoption reached mainstream, I am sure that colleges in your country will offer crypto-related courses.
70  Other / Meta / Re: Forum rules are not interesting to anyone, even moderator Cyrus on: August 31, 2018, 10:44:37 PM
Your next step, tell them to open a scam accusation against you with proof. Once that is done you can report all posts that continue on in a never ending circle jerk of "you did this" , "no I didn't".
I believe OP here don't need to tell them to open a scam accusation against him with proof on scam accusation board because you already did and if the ones accusing him is still reading this thread, they should open a thread in scam accusation or reputation board soon on their own accord. If they didn't open a thread there in a few more days, that means they are just trolling OP and is not serious about their accusation and if that happens, feel free to click the ignore buttons under their names on their posts OP.
71  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to do ico press release for free?? on: August 31, 2018, 01:03:26 PM
What you pay is what you get but in this case, no pay so don't expect too much.
At least that is better than having no press release at all. Either way, I also think that a project should invest at least a little money on an ICO press release to gain publicity more effectively.
Look for an aspiring company or person that are working on that field and ask if they can feature your ICO for free.
Some might feature an ICO for free but I don't expect that aspiring company in the future would probably not succeed and I also doubt that OP's team would not feel the effects of the publicity at a. If they are going to pay, looking for a professional one would be a better course of action.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the safest and most reliable altcoin? on: August 31, 2018, 12:15:23 PM
Oh I see. Thanks! Does that mean that altcoins are more unreliable and unpredictable than bitcoins and it is just better to put my money on bitcoin instead?
If you don't want to take that much risk then yes. It is better if you put your money on bitcoin instead but if you don't trust bitcoin that much, you can diversify your money on altcoins that have retained it's value for a long time like litecoin, wave, dash, and others who does not move that much and is not near their all time high(since if it is near ATH, losing money on your portfolio is very likely).
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 42% of Top 50 Universities Offer at Least One Crypto-Related Class on: August 30, 2018, 08:49:11 PM
First of all, I believe you OP posted this thread on the wrong section. You should move it either on Bitcoin or altcoin discussion board, whichever is better in your viewpoint. Either way, I won't think that in 5-7 years a lot of people will be educated about crypto since the schools offering crypto courses are so few at the moment. At least that is better than them having no education about it. I think what you envision right now will come into fruition within a decade from now.
74  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you start trading? on: August 30, 2018, 12:22:15 PM
Trading is very risky they said and the information to learn is very wide , every losses and profits  is a experienced that is why I'm very interested in trading , yet i don't know where i should start .

Can you share guys how do you start with this line?
For starters, study scam ICO history and history of how shitcoins have sprung about. That way, you will be a little familiar if a coin is turning into a shitcoin or not(and if an ICO is already becoming or will be a scam). You can also try testing on trading on small amounts of money first while practicing and if you get the hang of it, only invest big by then.
if you want to start your trading but you don't know how to start you can ask on expert about that and ask them some idea
OP can also search for information by reading threads about trading in this section, altcoin discussion and speculation(altcoins). I believe most of his question would be answered instantly after reading for a while.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using Segwit? on: August 30, 2018, 11:02:16 AM
Thanks, thats so sweet. I tried researching about segwit but its really a different story knowing the experience of people on it. Im now relieved of using it, thanks guys Smiley
Since you already got the answers you want, I suggest you lock this topic or thread before it becomes a spam mega thread like the other threads in this section with many pages. Either way, wise choice in choosing Segwit there but before using it to store a lot of bitcoins, I suggest you try testing it first in storing small amounts so that later on, you'd be familiar on what fees to set using Segwit enabled addresses.
76  Other / Meta / Re: Is anyone having error 504? on: August 29, 2018, 08:35:23 PM
So theoretically it can stop bots, who spam nonsense posts forumwide? Does this work in practice as well?
Or those bots are not that kind of bots?
If noscript browser means e.g. tor browser
No script browser can pertain to any browser with a script blocker installed. As far as I know, it can stop bots because most of the times bots use no script browsers to do the repetitive tasks set by its user and enabling the checking your browser feature of Cloudflare makes them somehow unable to access the forum.
DDoS attack over?
No, but for now I'm successfully filtering it.
Can I assume that the DDoS attack is finally over now? Site response time is fast again.
77  Economy / Speculation / Re: Again the same as August 22... +$ 300 in just 10 minutes on: August 29, 2018, 10:05:40 AM
By the way, perhaps time to sell soon:
~snip~
Even if I am optimistic for 2019.
You shouldn't play with bots and scalpers because your money might end up as a fodder to them. Feel free to sell if are in profit already but you'd better hold on to your stash if you really are optimistic for 2019 because if you don't, It is very likely that you will be buying at a higher price OP before 2019 comes. Nice chart analysis by the way.
78  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GatePay - Instant Cryptocurrency Payment Solution (Looking for teammates) on: August 29, 2018, 07:38:45 AM
As far as I can understand from the technical details, GatePay will support bitcoin but how will you make everything in your whitepaper work? Can you please elaborate it? IMO, Since the buyer needs to connect to the vendor's node first, this project will require you to ask for the help of experts with lots of achievements in coding blockchain related projects. Also, will GatePay support other cryptocurrencies besides bitcoin?
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New EOS Bug Steals Resources Directly From Users on: August 28, 2018, 01:07:15 PM
EOS is downright stupid to hold at this point. It doesn't have a single good quality about it.
It ain't downright stupid to hold it at this point, I will rather describe the status of holding it as a level above very risky because I can still see anyone profiting from holding it short term but the risk of losing it is so high. Either way, for now, EOS team have thought of a temporary fix for holders to keep their valuable RAM and resources and let's see if this project will really turn into a scam or not.
80  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Instagramers approaching me non-stop on: August 28, 2018, 11:57:09 AM
who are these people?
Those people PMing you about the ridiculous offer you have mentioned are probably conmen or scammers.
What type of offers I should be careful of?
You should be careful of offers that are too good to be true. If the offer is from an ICO, you better research their team first before accepting it.
What kind of offers are legit and can be considered seriously?
Consider only those who offer to teach you to earn crypto or money for free without charge payment you would not lose a penny even if you didn't earn from the method they teach you. Just be cautious enough to learn to avoid phishing and anything that asks you to download something.
