61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 20, 2021, 02:33:56 PM
Well, the match was obviously going to be a Chelsea win, should you look at the team performances lately in the EPL, it would be of no doubt that, Spurs weren't going going have a chance. Chelsea under Tuchels management have been magnificent and with the season at its start, it's about accumulating points now if you've got a better view of the league trophy before injury and other constraints steps in to lower player quality.
Seeing Chelsea on top of the table is a no shocker for me and I'm surprised Liverpool has stepped up as well. Its a good one for Klopp and his boys.
Tottenham played good for the 1st half and surprised me. They had a very intense pressing which lasted for the 1st half but they could not sustain it in the 2nd half. Chelsea brought on Kante and moved to a 3 midfield which I think was the tactical change that changed the game for Chelsea. Kante with his dynamic and constant running was running circles around a already tired Tottenham midfield. Chelsea only had to dominate around 15 minutes of the 2nd half to get 2 goals while Tottenham did not get close to scoring for the entire 45 minutes that they were on top of the game.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC users actually care about privacy? on: September 20, 2021, 02:24:27 PM
Another thought on this is what do we define as a user?

If someone buys BTC today during the drop @ $44,000 and intends to sell it at $50,000 when it goes back up. Are they a user or a trader?
If they are a trader they don't care about KYC since they are not going to hide the profit and will report it to the IRS, or whoever taxes income in their country, and pay their taxes and move on.

If the same person missed the $50,000 sell window and sells at $55,000 since it's still going up but they decide to keep some BTC since they made their profit and then they go and buy stuff with it are they still a trader or are they now a user. If they are a user, does privacy even matter to them now?

And so on.

A better question might be, if people do care about privacy how much effort will they put in before they say "meh, whatever" and let some of their info be known.

-Dave

The technical definition would be they are using Bitcoin even if they are only using it for a small time to withdraw back into fiat but you bring up a good point these types of people who are already slaves to fiat probably do not care about KYC because their data is already compromised by any of the services that they use with their fiat money. This is a hard metric to find out if a person is a trader or a user because I think most people who are invested in Bitcoin today are looking to withdraw back into fiat.
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 20, 2021, 02:18:24 PM
Chelsea and Liverpool passed with 3 goals. They scored 3 points with 3 goals. Arsenal took 3 points with 1 goal, although it was difficult. In the standings, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United share the first place with 13 points. This year will be an exciting season. Manchester City is trailing behind with 10 points. The league has just started, anything can happen.
Chelsea and Liverpool have scored the exact same amount of goals and points each week only dropping points against each other when they drew 1-1. Chelsea are only ahead of Liverpool in the table because of alphabetical order. Manchester City and Manchester United are not looking very good atm with Manchester United only scrapping by against worse opponents then what Chelsea and Liverpool have played. Chelsea have had the harder fixtures with Tottenham and Liverpool but are still undefeated. I think I have changed my mind and I think Liverpool will be challenging for the title again this season but I think Chelsea are too good and will win it by 10+ points.
64  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best way to monetize cryptocurrency blog on: September 20, 2021, 02:10:22 PM
Have you thought about contacting businesses which offering services in the cryptocurrency space? They might be interested in setting up affiliates or directly sponsoring content that you could write about. This is very popular with fiat websites and you would be one of the only people offering a blog about cryptocurrency which would put you in a unique position for earning crypto. By contacting them directly I think you will earn more then adding random affiliate links to your website and you will gain more commission.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: United state 🇺🇸 take the lead in global Bitcoin adoption 2021 on: September 20, 2021, 01:55:36 PM
First of all the number of bitcoin ATMs is not a metric to measure bitcoin adoption with. How much they are used and by how many people is, and that's not something you can measure.

Secondly the number of bitcoin ATMs should be measured per population not the raw count. A country with 10 million population having a 1000 ATMs has a lot more per population than a country with 300 million having the same 1000 ATMs for example.

And finally it is too late for US to take the lead, there are at least 6 other countries that are so far ahead of US in terms of bitcoin adoption.
Even measuring their usage would not be accurate because there will be cultural differences. In poorer countries you see people being more suspicious of fiat atms because they are often tampered with but western countries are living primarily on credit cards. Then western countries are going to have more atm installations because they can afford them if you have checked the price of installing and operating these atms they are not cheap.  What are the countries that you think are ahead of the US?
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to use private keys post societal collapse on: September 20, 2021, 01:50:14 PM
There is no instruction manual for event like this, but I would never count on my brain and memory to remember 12 or 24 seed words,
I could always mix the order or make some other mistake, and if society collapses that would probably be a global event and not just local.
Having backup phrase hidden in multiple safe locations is much better option, and you can import it in any other hardware or software wallet that uses same seed phrase standard.
Problem is that economic and society collapse would affect internet, communication, electricity, food and everything else, so your best bet is to wait for all systems to be restored.
It is hard because the more places that you store your private seed the more chances of it being discovered by some one else. I recommend 2 highly secure places to store your seed because any more will not increase the security of it any more than storing it in 2 separate places but it will reduce the chance of someone discovering it and taking your Bitcoin. Economic collapse would not be as bad as a societal collapse. A economical collapse might be good for the adoption of Bitcoin because people would lose faith in the current money system. We have had recessions which people look for alternatives and I think that is one of the reasons that Bitcoin gained traction in the early days after the bank bail outs.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to use private keys post societal collapse on: September 20, 2021, 01:15:21 PM
If we talking based on this current situation many people will still trust both of Government and Bank, since Bitcoin is still new for them and some country banned it or can't be used to buy food on their countries. Fiat was the only one legal tender except El Salvador, without fiat they can't buy food, water, or any other stuffs for daily live.

Gold will be more valuable than Bitcoin because all people know Gold has a value, but not all people know Bitcoin has a value. Gold has been discovered  and traded long time ago, it can be used when there's no internet access.

IMO your scenario work on full recovered collapse, while what I talking about when the situation were still collapse to recovered stage.
If society collapses then the government will be the one to point the finger at even if it is a natural disaster which causes the collapse. People will look for someone to blame and the government will lose trust. Governments have proven in lesser events like the BLM riots last year that they will take extreme actions when it is not warranted what happens when there is a global collapse what extremes will they go to then? I am confident that if there was a societal collapse the government that we know today would change and hopefully we would see a non authority way of proceeding with our lives. During the collapse the only thing that will be worth anything is every day items that better your life like food, water, clothes but after we have recovered and we start to rebuild fiat cash money makes no sense to bring back. Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency will be the way forward.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC users actually care about privacy? on: September 20, 2021, 01:09:39 PM
In terms of p2p, I only trust binance p2p so far. Haven't tried others. Even if they require KYC, that's fine for me. At least, I know that platform is a trusted one. I care for privacy but I won't entrust my funds to other sites which you have no insurance, in case hacking or any trouble is met by the site. But I do agree, only small percentage of crypto users really do care about their total privacy. I guess, a lot here at some point submit their kyc to their local exchange or other exchanges.
Using a p2p exchange that requires KYC defeats the point of using p2p imo. If you want to avoid mass data collection then Binance and Coinbase should be the ones to avoid. You should be directly trading with another person with minimal data collection as possible because p2p is usually more expensive in fees then centralized exchanges. I only use p2p because there is no data collection usually I would recommend changing to a different platform and avoid giving your information up. I am not sure why Binance has one of the best reputations for exchanges because imo they have been one of the worst at handling compromised coins and have made mistakes which should not be happening for a exchange which holds millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin on their platform.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to use private keys post societal collapse on: September 20, 2021, 10:58:00 AM
How you can speculate that? if whole economic and societal are collapse which no one had access of internet, how can Bitcoin can still be number 1 currency if no one traded it? It will be worthless too but not 0 value like fiat, gold will be valuable.
I am thinking that fiat has been outdated for a long time and day by day we continue to convert cash into online virtual currencies. Everyone pays by card instead of cash atm and I think after a societal collapse people will be more suspicious of the government and will look for a better solution than to have a government owned currency. That is why I think the Blockchain and Bitcoin would be the solution because it cannot be controlled. I think the demand once internet has been reestablished will mean Bitcoin will be the choice of the people. Why will gold be valuable any more than Bitcoin? The internet will be a high priority because it is the best communication channel and after a societal collapse on a global level you will want to see how others are doing. The internet is what we are familiar with and we rely on it. If humans survive a societal collapse they will reestablish the internet quickly and I think Bitcoin is the only solution to a currency that will be worth using.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC users actually care about privacy? on: September 20, 2021, 10:45:46 AM
As someone who has only ever traded peer to peer, and has never be scammed, phished, hacked, or otherwise lost coins even once, i would argue that peer to peer is far safer than trusting a centralized third party completely with both your data and your coins.

At least by using peer to peer you are reducing the amount you can lose. If you have a bad experience with one trader then you can find a different trader and only lose the amount that you were trading. If a exchange exit scams you will lose all the money that you have stored on that exchange and they could sell your data as well. Of course you should not be storing all your Bitcoin on a exchange and should only store what you intend on trading but I bet most people do not listen to this advice and store all of it because it is easier.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: protection mechanics for preventing faking bitcoin on: September 20, 2021, 10:26:12 AM
The protection is already built in with the Blockchain the blockchain only displays blocks which are made valid by miners. They process each transaction on the chain and verify that it is valid. Confirmations are a way of checking that a transaction is valid. Bitcoin protection against counterfeiting is better than fiats because anyone can try to copy the paper even if they keep on changing it. Looking back at history you will see that fiat notes have been changed a huge amount of times because of the advancement of counterfeiting machines these days it is very hard to check for counterfeit notes. Retail puts you on a course to determine what are fake notes and they admit that it is becoming more difficult.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to use private keys post societal collapse on: September 20, 2021, 10:18:25 AM
Yep, this is the most accurate response thus far as bitcoin will have zero post-apocalyptic value. Not that it was ever meant for that, obviously. But the fact is when the internet goes out, you effectively have no bitcoin, until it comes back on again. Bitcoin's reliance on a functioning internet and power grid renders it significantly more fragile than traditional forms of currency, and relies on a world where these things exist in perpetuity.
This is the same for all currencies paper money will not be worth anything in a true apocalypse instead people will be trading for goods like food and water but when the internet does come back online then Bitcoin has to be the number 1 choice for a currency right? I cannot see people going back to fiat when they see how easy it is to fail. Bitcoin can survive a apocalypse and I think is the most logical solution to a currency after society has recovered.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to use private keys post societal collapse on: September 20, 2021, 10:02:18 AM
OK,but what if OP doesn't have money to purchase another hardware wallet or he goes to a country, where hardware wallets are not sold?
You would be able to get your hands on a electronic device if there was a societal collapse. If we are talking about a natural disaster which causes a societal collapse like a solar flare which wipes out most of the electronic devices on earth there will still be laptops and computers which function because they would have had protection against that in a faraday cage. Then eventually society would start building electronic devices again. You do not need a hardware wallet you just need a computer and because of how the internet works even if the country you live in bans Bitcoin you can still download that wallet software and take your money out. I am certain that a country cannot ban a currency over night and instead have to allow a grace period for their citizens to take their money out of Bitcoin and back into fiat.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you consider living on crypto? on: September 20, 2021, 09:56:58 AM
Living on cryptocurrencies is when you use it every day and not using it once in a while to prove that you can use it as a daily currency. I do not think it is a good idea to fully convert to Bitcoin yet because there are not enough services which are accepting it. I look forward to the day that there will be more services accepting Bitcoin and we could all start using it as a daily currency but we are not there yet. I think it will be over 10 years until Bitcoin volatility settles enough for merchants to start accepting it as a permanent payment solution. Bitcoin has a long road until it becomes feasible to use as a currency instead of something that you invest in and hold in hopes that you profit. I am not 100% sure if we will achieve the goal of becoming a mainstream currency accepted by everyone.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC users actually care about privacy? on: September 20, 2021, 09:52:39 AM
If you are going to use a big exchange in the future then you will need KYC.  The only other way to get BTC will be on the black market.  Would that put you off?

Probably 99% of them don't really care. I think most people just want the number to go up and nothing else. If this was chicken shit they were trading, it wouldn't make a difference to them (as long as the number goes up). Black market/Dark market is now running mostly on Monero I heard. So, if btc traders really cared about privacy they would have moved to monero instead.
I think you are right most people who have invested into Bitcoin do not understand it or care why it could be revolutionary instead they only care about how much it is worth. I think this is confirmed by the amount of topics we have talking about the price and not the fundamentals that make Bitcoin great. This place is  filled with anxiety whenever the price goes down which makes me think they do not understand why and they do not understand why Bitcoin should recover. Bitcoin is not a good crypto if you want to act anonymously and I do not think that is one of the draws to Bitcoin like you say Monero has that advantage over Bitcoin.
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: September 19, 2021, 10:57:16 AM
I'm glad to see that Arsenal made it to the victory against Burnley by 1-0. I said that they would win this game only if they scored the first goal and they really did it. Because if Burnley scored first, then they would do a great defense against Arsenal. And we already know how much Arsenal are having trouble as for scoring goals. Let's see what they will do in the next games. I hope that they maintain their good form.
It was the second win in Arsenal's last 5 matches in the Premier League. In the last 5 games Arsenal only scored 2 goals, it is something that looks very weak for Arsenal. They lack sharpness and their strikers look unproductive. I'm not sure they can keep their consistency to win games because Tottenham will be their next opponent in the Premier League. Of course I would think that Arsenal would lose to Tottenham even if they played at home.
Tottenham have a huge amount of players missing from their 1st team it was around 7+ players missing a week ago I do not know how many are returning soon but I think some of them are for a long time. Arsenal should beat Tottenham because of that but then Arsenal lost against Brentford who I think are worse than a weakened Tottenham side. I think the biggest problem with Arsenal is their manager they have the players to succeed but their manager is not good and I do not understand how he still has the job. Tottenham have hired a manager which I think is not good enough to and I do not understand why teams are hiring managers from relegation teams or managers that have no experience managing any other team and expecting them to work wonders.
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: September 19, 2021, 10:51:16 AM
The West Ham - Manchester United match today should be a very enjoyable match I believe. So far, none of these teams got a loss in their league matches. West Ham's great forward Michail Antonio isn't going to be able to play in this one as he is suspended due to getting a red card. He scored 4 goals in 4 EPL matches so far. Manchester United lost their last match which was against Young Boys in the Champions League. They would like to atone for this result in this one. And they defeated West Ham here in their last head-to-head match by 3-1. It is going to be a hell of match but I hope to see Manchester United as the winner.
MU should be able to look extraordinary. they have more motivation due to their recent defeat. I believe this is a great motivation for CR7 and his friends to perform better to get the win.
hopefully, there are no mistakes like the last game MU against Young Boys. the release of 1 player makes all cooperation a mess.
look at the statistics of both in the Premier League this season, both are equally strong and have not been defeated. This will be an interesting match. United will overcome West Ham.
Manchester United have not looked extraordinary against lesser opponents this season I do not think they will look better against a strong West Ham team. I think it will be a close game that is why I bet on the double chance of the game being a draw or West Ham managing to beat Manchester United. I think there will be 1-2 goals in it and I think it could go both ways. Manchester United are a strong team but their team has not gelled together yet and I think Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player but players will be looking to double mark him soon and will learn how to deal with him. This will allow players like Sancho and Rashford more space but I do not think these players are mature enough to make the most of that space. I am more confident about West ham getting a draw then them winning outright especially with Antonio suspended for this game.

I forgot about the red card for Antonio I think that might change the game. Manchester United are going to be tired after their game against Young Boys because it was a difficult game and I thought Antonio could use his pace to tire the defense more and maybe score a couple of goals running in behind the tired defenders. I am no longer confident about my pick because I see West Ham conceding because they have conceded against lesser opponents this season already like Newcastle and looked terrible sometimes in defense. I do not know if they will score without their main striker Antonio. Manchester United do have a good defense and the only way I see them scoring is running behind that tired defense.
79  Other / Off-topic / Re: Up $175k on stake. Would like to spend/treat myself with BTC direct...any ideas? on: September 19, 2021, 10:39:23 AM
- Try lending
There are wallets with really good offers right now, you can set the time till which you want to invest or lend then get the amount after that.

They only have good offers because the risk is high I could not recommend lending especially when you are storing your funds on a external website because that is insecure and double the risk because you have the risk of the website exit scamming and you have the risk of the people you are lending to running away with your money. I think the hardware wallet advice is the better option at least the risk is little then.

- Invest in other cryptocurrencies as well, not just bitcoins
Bitcoin will always be the safest and easiest to earn a profit with altcoins are risky and I guess OP does not care about a little risk but altcoins are very unpredictable and if he was to invest a large amount into them it could make other investors dump. He would be a whale in most altcoins in Bitcoin his investment is a drop in the ocean.

I read somewhere that City failed to register a shot on target only in 4 home games since Guardiola is there and that 3 of them were against Southampton Grin
They already lost 5 points out of possible 15, not the best start - especially considering their schedule wasn't really hard. Liverpool and Chelsea look better so far.

I'm really looking forward to the Spurs - Chelsea game today, odds on Chelsea will be good and I feel they are the team that's in the best form so far.
They do not have a striker and I think that is why Manchester City are struggling if they signed Kane in the transfer window I think they would be cruising to the league title. Instead they look good in defense and midfield but they have not got a clinical striker. At least when they had Aguero fit he would win them games by scoring. I think Manchester City did register a shot on target around the 90 mins time yesterday against Southampton but it was not a good effort. Liverpool and Chelsea are looking the better teams but we will see how Chelsea perform today. Chelsea have already gone against Liverpool and drawn and they have another top 4 challenger in Tottenham. I think if Chelsea win this today they are favorites to win the league because they have already gone against some of their biggest contenders with Tottenham and Liverpool.
