Heard about mining alt currencies to trade for bitcoins on online exchanges, since bitcoin mining supposedly is too hard/unprofitable now.. I have acces to free electricity and have a macbook pro 15 quad core 2gz, can i get any significant amount from this, and if so, what would be the best way to execute it? (I prefer not to invest in any mining equiptment, since most of it will probably go to buy bitcoins)

You might try mining Primecoin and exchange to BTC. But hard to say if it is worth even with free electricity because notebooks overheats a lot if under constant high load - thus reduced lifetime

Now I'm kind of having second thoughts, on one hand their Gold Miner will definitely crank out some serious Hash/s but the difficulty jump is so drastic of late.  It might not be worthy to pay at the current rate.

Any comment or thoughts??

This preorder is dangerous game. I believe 1.000.000 difficulty is very likely to hit at the end of this year, and Im not really sure when the difficulty stop increasing at rate about +25% every 10 days...

Don't buy BFL!! Haven't you read that everyone didn't get their BFL until 12 months later? Shocked

Thats true, and while their products are shipping faster now, compettitors offer better deals in my opinion

I keep hearing about them once and a while but I never see any sites that take them and I dont really understand what purpose they play. Are they just easier to mine?

It is just a speculative coin because you can hardly spend it buying goods/services

Did you logged to blockchain.info to see your ballance?

Because with shared wallets you cant say how much you have with looking at the addresses balances only without logging to blockchain.info

Hey
I am a beginner in the BitCoin field and would like to know how and where can I earn some Bitcoins, initially without actual money transfer.
I made a wallet and the address it gave me was 1G3kkUKKgZDvMqyAjoFV51oFpKKjV8SSAV . How do i go ahead with this?

There are many free faucets, try this thread:

And do it for education purposes only, you cant make much with this  Wink

77  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: September 14, 2013, 06:52:58 AM
Why would the dollar be worthless? Btc reached 260 with no problem even when the dollar was fairly strong.I see no reason why it won`t reach 1k,we just have to be patient  Grin

Patience doesnt help alone, the price rise can be only if higher adoption of Bitcoin happens, especially merchants

You can't compare paypal and bitcoin.

Bitcoin is like a currency, like USD or EUR you can use bitcoins to buy stuff online.
Paypal is like VISA or MASTERCARD, just a way to spend dollars or euros. You can also use cash.

I dont get you. I think about bitcoin as a global payment system, where no govt can set the rulez. It is like torrent, from people to people, no regulations necessary
