61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Woman Travels to 7 Different Countries in 12-Week.Challenge using only Crypto on: July 14, 2019, 07:01:00 PM
She could also buy things that are valuable while at somewhere that allows crypto payment and she can trade those things when she is in a place that doesn't use crypto. I think that selling what she buys for cash is not allowed so she will have to keep things people want.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Creating more bitcoin on: July 14, 2019, 06:37:03 PM
OMG!!

What a clueless "senior"

It doesn't matter how many bitcoins there are. It matters how they are released. Less bitcoin just means a higher price. More bitcoin will be a lower price. It is just ratio. Why is 21m not a lot? if there were 42m then you would just pay 2btc for something that was 1btc. If there were 11m in total you would pay 0.5btc and not 1btc.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I hate Banks and love Bitcoin :-> on: July 14, 2019, 06:08:43 PM
I just like that I have to rely on myself and not  the banking system for my transactions and own safety. They have made it so that if something goes wrong it is the user's fault. Only shopping is much easier with bitcoin and payment is within minutes and the seller has his bitcoins. Much better than waiting 1-3 days for a bank transfer, that time could be used to get your parcel to you. Now you 1-3 days late.

You don't have to lineup in queues or make appointments and you get to choose the transaction fees (up to a point)
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 💣💣💣 [TOKPIE] Makes your Dream Real 💣💣💣[Bounty Stakes Trading]💣💣💣 on: July 14, 2019, 05:05:10 PM
I love this. But I see all the stakes are the same price. A stake for signature is the same as for Twitter. Better to do twitter much easier. Signature should be worth more stakes. They aren't really stakes you do not get a stake of anything from a pool. The stakes have just become a currency.

How often do you plan on adding new bounty projects?
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this good for bounty checks? on: July 13, 2019, 11:56:56 PM
What about actual substance? Like a functional website that is more then just a landing page that looks fancy. What service do they provide? IF they have nothing to show for their claims then don't follow their project.
If they do nothing about their plans for a long time without any good reason then stop supporting them, they also like to extend the bounty which is abusive I think.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Would you participate in new project if it is not listed in ICO rating websites? on: July 13, 2019, 11:41:01 PM
No I wouldn't. Most of those ICO rating sites are paid so that doesn't help. It could also be faked to attract people to their ICO rating site. You don't know exactly what they base all their criteria as only some of it is explained. How they give  "review" with a "score" . Who are the reviewers and why should we listen to them?

I don't trust the ICO ratin gsites that much. You see all these ICOs that are really highly rated, but only have a few people rating them. They can certainly be useful sites for getting an overview of what is available, but I personally would trust the more in-depth research that you have to do yourself. The ratings on these site I don't think are reliable.

Yes, and it is personal votes. Even if you know nothing about the project people could give it a high rating because they like the pictures or something stupid.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥[ANN][IEO][MYO]🔥 MYCRO JOBS ANN Thread 🔥 on: July 13, 2019, 11:13:50 PM
This token looks like crap. There still is no site and there never will be. You won't be able to find jobs or do any of the things this Ann claims. This Ann was created in 2018 September, it is almost a year. They had plenty time and nothing to show. Bounty hunters will work for a  whole bunch of nothing. Your stakes will mean nothing. As long as bounty hunters keep supporting crap like this there will be scammers.

These guys have a fancy website and a smart contract that anyone can make with a bit of knowledge.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List Of People For The Bitcoin Community Never To Trust on: July 13, 2019, 10:55:16 PM
This confuses me. RealDonaldTrump? Do presidents have twitter accounts under their name? The account also has 52 million followers. It is so strange. Then you said the CIA and FBI. I mean come on that isn't really the CIA or FBI. I thought twitter banned fake accounts? How can these be real? I don't know what to believe but whoever controls that trump account and the others talk such nonsense.

You shouldn't be trusting anyone who is not yourself. That's kind of the point of the whole thing is it not?

I know it's a lot less convenient than letting someone else do it for you but perhaps everyone should pause briefly and ponder who they are trusting at present in their Bitcoininess. You might be balls deep in exchanges, SPV wallets, hardware wallets pushing updates you don't bother to check and more.

I like the idea of the proof of keys day or whatever it was. Perhaps there should be a trust audit day as well.

You will have to trust someone at some point. You just need to be very careful.

70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto thefts, fraud hit $1.2 billion in Q1 report on: June 14, 2019, 03:23:25 PM
Can you believe that losses from the theft of crypto from exchanges due to fraud hit $1.2B?

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-crypto-currency-fraud/cryptocurrency-thefts-fraud-hit-1-2-billion-in-first-quarter-report-idUSKCN1S62P3

I still can't wrap my mind around why people wouldn't want to have compliance with AML and KYC to better help that this doesn't happen

Because you a newb and don't know what you are talking about. Do you think if there are laws that are somehow going to make crime magically go away? How does asking customers for KYC stop fraud?
This article is biased and I don't even know how true this all is. But sure believe what you read online.

For some reason Paypal is better for business, because they keep it fair. You can ask for a refund if you got scammed. With crypto, you can't.

So, it can't be better than any form of traditional payment solution to be frank (unless what you are doing is against the terms of the particular payment processor).

Yes because paying 7% fee is awesome for your business right? Why would you want there to be refunded? So someone can do a chargeback on you?
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i only use bit.tube to support them vs youtube control bullshit on: June 14, 2019, 03:18:23 PM
It's cool I like the idea. There two others similar to this but this one is much better. You get paid to view and you can as a published monetize your videos and earn Tubes. You can also stake your cubes too.
What I liked is that you can mine them. Though the electricity cost outweighs it, it is still nice to know it is an option. I also liked the interface and the dark theme.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How 18-year old boy became Millionare from Bitcoin on: June 14, 2019, 10:11:51 AM
OP did you write that or copy paste? If it was you I want to reward you with 2 merit points.

Quote
"I say if you do not become a millionaire in the next 10 years, then it’s your own fault."

It's a big statement! An 18 year old male who grew up in an affluent family, is not a good fit for making such statement! Becoming a millionaire doesn't make you eligible for such statements!

People come from different backgrounds, different financial situations and different family situations! To get a different perspective of life, speak to a slum boy someday!
~

This is all true. This child had the sense to invest his money instead of spend it on toys and gadgets and technology. He also times it well. Some of us didn't. We lost out. He had disposable money so he risked it. We didn't.

I just summarized it with my own wordswhat I have understand about his journey on how he became millionare. You can read all his story with the link i provided below my post. Also, i did not copy paste it. You can simple pin point it easily since my English and my grammar is not that good and intact.

However, back to the topic. I envy the boy so much. He was so determined to become victorious in life. He was so lucky the btc's price back then was so cheap.

I gave you 3 merit points  Cool You contacted me and used your initiative so you deserve them.

Yeah I wanted to buy bitcoins in 2013 but I didn't Sad I did need the money but still. I just had to wait a few years.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should Unit against Scam Project As a Crypto Community?? on: June 12, 2019, 07:42:45 PM
After lots of frustration , lots of loss , almost loosing hope now market is recovering . As a crypto community well wisher I am requesting Bitcointalk community as well as other crypto community to fight against Scam projects . So that people should not loose belief on Crypto .

Why i am saying this because ?? . We have seen lots of Scam projects ICO's in past in that lots of investors hard earned money gone . It was became exactly like .COM bubble lots of investors lost their money . These scammers took away this money from crypto space .

1) Now as a community we should not encourage ICO'S for time being . As if now there is enough projects funded in crypto space for next 100 years
2) We need investors who believe in new era of currency . Also needs to attract NEW investors . For that we have to keep Crypto Space Clean .
3) Crypto projects are necessary but we are having enough project for a time being . Community  has to understand this . Find a good project already in a place . Support that kind of projects . Which is giving real value to crypto space . Instead of investing in Scam project and getting into trap .

Finally we should keep away our Greedy mentality for sometime we should work together for long term vision of crypto currency .

Note : I know already some of community members really working hard to fight against Scam projects . I have huge respect for them . Now we should also give contribution .

I agree on point number one people should stop investing in ICO we have seen so many lost money
on point number two, we already had a lot of investors willing to take a risk in the right project but afraid that they cannot find the right one
and on point number three, nobody wants to invest in a scam project if they know that it is a scam project, and yes we have the scam busters to thank, they really made a great contribution.

ICO is not the problem. People being foolish with their money is the problem. YOu see these ICO with pictures of people and that is ment to be "trustworthy" people fall for this. Whenever I see photos of the so-called ICO team I run like hell. Knowing who you giving your money to doesn't really matter. What matters is the project. Being anonymous is fine. It is thee projects that try so hard to "prove" themselves they actually just give off all the bad flags but still people fall for it. When they start asking for KYC to stay away. When they promise profits, stay away.  ICO can be very useful it is not the devs fault people give their money to a scam rather then a legit ICO.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How blockchain technology is changing the world on: June 12, 2019, 07:37:15 PM
Blockchain's main advantage is reliability. Being a distributed network information where information is stored in nodes in thousands of devices (decentralization), instead of a single and a backup server most systems are used to run. So it is resistant to attacks and failures. Meanwhile every banking system suffers from technical blackouts quite often. Visa made a remark last year that customers should always have more than one way to pay. Obvious recognition of the failure of centralized payment systems.

Second major advantage is transparency. Every transaction is recorded in the public ledger and is shared and agreed upon by all network participants.

These two advantages are what governments and banking sector lack and sometimes fear. Most certainly it will be massively implemented in logistics and supply chain and a few major companies already using it (Walmart).

Governments and banking sector are not yet ready to be transparent as they can't hide their financial transactions. Most government institutions are corrupt or hiding many things so with blockchain technology, the public would know if they are embezzling the funds or transferring money to somewhere.

Logistics and supply chain would greatly benefit from the implementation of blockchain technology if properly established within their system. They will save millions of dollars in operations alone once their blockchain system is up and running. We couldn't wait that to happen in our age.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Governments will not be able to hide their spendings since it is all transparent as day. They will have a lot to answer for and will not be able to lie or hide since it is a fact and you canot argue with facts. Even if government official make arms deals that movement of funds will need to be accounted for. So you see if goverments use thoeir "power" against crypto we can use it to help ourselves and demand they use their own blockchain. This is much further into the future but it is very exciting stuff. I can't wait.  Cheesy
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinshares research: 74% of Bitcoin mining is powered by renewable energy on: June 12, 2019, 07:31:07 PM
I don't know how accurate that is. I find it difficult to believe. This is a start though and it is good. They have a positive plan and are trying. I think it is important for miners mining to provide their own power so no one can say we taking or using too much energy. There many topics about it here already which shows genuine concern.

And this is not telling us anything good simply because hydro power is not a green energy. It doesn't really matters if you are using renewable energy or not if it is still poisoning this water.
Also, 55% of chinese electricity is coming from coal. So the number of 74% of renewable energy doesn't seems to be realistic. And if author means that this is a renewable energy like wind energy then is  an absolute bullshit.

I can agree that hydro-power is not completely green, actually the construction of large dams may have catastrophic consequences on the environment. But from what you conclude that such way of energy producing is poisons the water?

That 74% is just an assumption based on the research, and you should read it before you start make wrong conclusions based probably on title. Miners always seeks the cheapest energy sources because of profit, and hydro-power at this point is not have cheaper alternatives.

I try to find something what will explain you in a simple way what is hydro-power : http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/energy/hydropower.html

I don't know how a dam can pollute but ok. The best way to produce energy with the least impact is solar it pays for itself within 7-10 years depending on how you construct it and where you live. I am unsure how well it works in more cloudy, darker, rainer countries though.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Accepting Churches on: June 12, 2019, 06:58:16 PM
You guys should check out biblepay if this is your thing. I know you asked for bitcoin but biblepay is better it has its very own currency. I'm insure of they support churches yet but I know they include Bible versus in their block chain. It might be something some of you will take interest in.
77  Economy / Economics / Re: Surveillance Capitalism, Facebook coin, KYC, crypto on: June 12, 2019, 10:58:39 AM
I felt sad when I read your post. Facebook coin - I personally would not trust this company. Facebook already had a challenger when they merged user data.

I also felt sad. Facebook needs to stay the hell away from crypto. Noone wants them there. They like to ruin things and get everyones personal info. Twitter too, needs a phone number and they suspend accounts often.
Tin foil hats on, people, I'm going in...

Big news recently has been Facebook's announcement that it will be launching its own cryptocurrency, 'GlobalCoin'. I think this has implications for the direction of travel of crypto as a whole.

Facebook, along with other major internet companies such as Google, offers its services 'for free'. Obviously 'free' is not really free, as these companies harvest all of the personal data that you provide and use increasingly sophisticated behavioural analytics programs to predict your future behaviour, and sell this on for big profit.

So the Facebook coin - they can harvest data on your personality, age, gender, politics and preferences, but the ultimate aim is to acquire everything, all data, including the most valuable one, which is what you buy and when (and under what circumstances) you buy it. This is surely the real purpose of Facebook's move into crypto. All of your purchase activity with this Facebook coin will be tracked and incorporated into the 'digital you' that Facebook sell on.

Is the rest of crypto heading the same way? I know there are privacy coins, but the overall trend is towards KYC - including on exchanges, and this will doubtless increase as mainstream adoption draws closer and governments become more hands-on in devising legislation. And then couple this with the privacy trade-offs that we are likely to concede in order to make use of the convenience of IoT and connected devices.

Are we heading inevitably into a future where crypto is used as a means for big companies to harvest your data for profit?
It's possible that could happen Facebook has been known to harvest data from its users, we already have KYC in various cryptocurrency companies and now that Facebook is creating their own coin, they can use it to harvest data and they can do it because they have known to do it in the past.

Most of these ICO should not be asking for KYC anyway. I don't even know why they do. They are not capable of protecting our info either. They have proven it over and over, just look at all the exchange hacks.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: In the future, will fiat currencies be necessary in the world? on: June 12, 2019, 10:49:47 AM
If tax was paid to the government in crypto then we could see how it is spent and exactly where. THis can stop so much curruption and wasted money. Noone will be able to hide what they doing with the taxpayers money it will be completely transparent which is a good thing as a taxpayer to know my hard earn crypto is being put to good use.

Most of all, it seems that we are moving in the direction of a certain kind of digital camp. Gradually, we abandon the physical money transferring them to digital media. In the future, these may be chips with a complete set of our personal data.

It is inevitable and everything will be virtual soon. So much already is. No so sure I like the chip idea nut there have been movies about it.
79  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the global currency cannot be 100% internet based and if we will have one on: June 12, 2019, 10:45:28 AM
bitcoin was created for that purpose, becoming a global currency in the whole world, that is very possible.
but nowadays it is not easy to realize it all with all the problems that are always associated with bitcoin making bitcoin disrupted to achieve its primary goals.

This is correct. Bitcoin is already a global currency since you can send and receive it from anywhere in the world s long as you have an internet connection available. It is not tied down to any country or people.
I know you mean glocal acceptance in the majority. I don't think crypto needs the majority of people to use it. Half is good enough. I do think that number will close though until almost everyone uses blockchain technology.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption In Your Country on: June 12, 2019, 10:07:01 AM
I'm also glad to be in a country that believes in the technology of cryptocurrency, I could not have acquired all the things that I want to buy if not to cryptocurrency and the policy of my country towards cryptocurrency, I can easily buy and sell Cryptocurrency with ease here.

Same with me. I think banks and things are difficult to use and I couldn't get Paypal to work so I was never able to buy anything since I had no way to pay. Now thanks to bitcoin there are plenty of online shops that accept bitcoin as a payment method. I don't shop offline anyway. Online is so much better and cheaper. I get what I want right to my door, all thanks to bitcoin.
