So Bitmain announces another batch the day after the AvalonMiner 721 announcement. Big surprise Wink

they can increase there price now after what avalon offer yesterday

the new Firmware hide PCB temp and increase Chip temp 10-15%
i returned to previous one
66  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 30, 2016, 09:55:49 AM
So a question about S9 HW errors. My S9 has always had much higher errors on the third board, which also had the highest temps, but still within acceptable ranges.

About three weeks ago, now board 1 with the lowest temps on average is showing a much higher error rate. More than the other two boards combined. The overall HW error rate over time is .0033 with an uptime of 2 1/2 days.

Is this something I should worry about? Is there anything I can even do about this or just ride it out until that board fails?

Thanks!

Below is the current error rate:

Chain#   ASIC#   Frequency   GH/S(RT)             HW          Temp(PCB)   Temp(Chip)
1             63         600           4286.07                    20937          64                  95

3             63         600           4267.80                       124          66                  95

4             63         600           4293.49                     1863          70                  99

my miner B9 600M working now on there new firmware and one board on 104C chip temp
we are in the beginning of winter and the Ambient temperature less than 30C
What will happen to the temp next summer ?
do you think this firmware will lower the freq by self or what ?

i had the strangest reply from bitmain support today. one of my new s9's has been running 1.5th/s slower than it should be since the day i got it which is out of spec by more than double the numbers posted by bitmain. anyway i was talking to a very nice person names "barbara" which im sure is a fake name like when you call comcast support and get someone in india or south america....but anyway she was working with me then randomly this person with the username "overseas" takes over my ticket and asks me to do everything that i already did and when i replied back telling him no i already did all of this he came back and said basically my miners are cooled too well. he said i need to raise the temps in the rooms i run my miners in because my miners are running too cold. the funny thing is all of my s9's are in one room while my s7's and titans are in another room in the building next to it. each room has its own dedicated ac unit pumpin nice cool 65/70 degree air into the room. the room with all s9's runs perfectly (same with the other room of course but this is about the s9 miner not the other miners) except for that 1 s9 that runs out of spec.

i usually back bitmain to a certain point unless im wronged because i cant go by anyone elses experiences except my own but who would have thought i would get a reply back telling me to run all of my miner hotter and harder in order to fix this one miner running outta spec? all of the other s9's run perfectly at the temps selected in the room so what makes this particular miner less willing to run at spec? it doesnt get anymore extra cooling that the other s9's dont already get. its plugged up to the same 230v apc 5000w pdu as 2 other s9's are but somehow these speeds are my fault and not bitmains fault....lol not likely. just thought i would throw this info out there because i found it amusing.

if your miner using there new auto freq firmware
i lost 3 TH/s from mine and after a week with them on a ticket i told barbara to move my ticket to some one more experiences and he did
after that (Customer Service-Overseas) take my ticket and they asked my kernel log more than once, every time this issue happen
after all they told me that (There is a bug in our latest firmware. We have fixed it.)
my miner now working for 1d18h31m41s without losing hash rate but i will upgrade it now for there latest
71  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 22, 2016, 10:46:39 AM
something like that should i worry about ?
72  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 20, 2016, 02:59:28 AM
I just received my S9 and I got it up and mining. I noticed in that in the Firmware version that came with my S9, i don't have the option to adjust fan speed. This results in an annoying increase and decrease of fan speeds, kind of like a breeze with a slight whistle.

Is there anyway to downgrade the firmware so i can have access to customize fan speed percentage under the "Miner Configuration" page?

Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   4.8.1.3
Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gf387dab-dirty #38 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 17 20:02:51 CST 2016
BMminer Version   2.0.0

batches after 16 can't work on old firmware
that what they told me on there support

We should press them to allow us to manage fan speed
its more disturbing than the previous
Interesting... Anyone have a Batch-16 miner to tell us what version of BMminer it is using?

B16 & 17 is the latest bitmain batches which haven't same freq for boards so it need there BMminer Version   2.0.0

i still have unstable internet connection and it seem like the only miner suffer from that is my B17!

i think the reason is it take a small package to decode and resend all the time unlike the old batches need along time to feel the lost connection
its really a small period of time

73  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 20, 2016, 02:48:00 AM
i installed the new firmware and it start and work on 2 minuts only
i hope this issue not returned again

can we install new firmware on previous batch S9? all batch of S9?

it's for all S9 but i installed on my B17 only
i need to control fan speed to control the temp and this not an option on this firmware
74  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: October 19, 2016, 10:50:16 PM
There is a SN sticker on the miner. tell them on support this SN and they should tell you the patch if you ordered it from ebay or something

it seem like they solved this problem on the new firmware
last hour i lost my internet connection 2 times ( they still fixing it in my ISP )
first time and when the internet backup all miners start to hash with full hash rate except Batch 17 hash with 9.8TH/s for about 5 minutes then lowered to 6TH/s for 5 minutes then lowered to 3.8 for minutes then return by self to full hash rate ( in the past firmware this non happen until i restart it )

in the second internet cut they all return to full hash rate including B17

after fixing my internet i get same error again and after that my miner stop working any more
i reset it but it not help
i think this issue controller related from the beginning
all boards lamp not light and front lamp also not light
just the fans working

here is kernel log i googled this error and it's kernal issue

Thank you for the updates. I need to check with the engineers about how the B17 machine handles interruptions in the internet connection. This batch miner works very differently from earlier batches.

The earlier firmware will not work on this batch.

I will get back to you as soon as I have more information.

Since you are using Awesome miner to monitor/control, try editing the Miner Offline rule to use 'Start Miner" Instead of "Restart Miner. I just started trying that and so far it seems to give the miner a kick in the pants without doing a full restart/warm boot.

good advice, thank you
i will try it after start my miner because i closed it until i fixed my internet connection with my ISP
