ATTN MODS

2 requests and I think that they are very reasonable requests

1 Scammer tag
2 Sticky

This forum is an important resource in this community and when someone steals unapologetically and then continues to do business, people should be warned.

In the meantime I hope everyone pulls out of that pool and puts it out of business.
He has a 1% rate advertised and a new flock of miners might head there without knowing any better if this information is not visible and readily available.

Thanks

63  Bitcoin / Mining support / HELP can't even boot up on: April 12, 2013, 11:48:57 PM
I had my brand new computer up and running last night. Tried to get litecoin going and I got an error message that popped up during the initial part of litecoin's startup where the wallet logo thing is in the middle of the screen.

I don't remember anything else bad happening but now my computer is absolutely useless. Will not boot, I can't even get into the BIOS menu to check settings, what the hell am I supposed to do.

I am contemplating returning the HDD the mobo and the CD drive and starting with fresh parts.

Error message I have gotten today

(1)    (as soon as I turn it on)

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-061: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM

then

boot and select proper boot device
insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

**press a key and it says the same thing again.

(2) Windows starts up, (it was installed and working last night)

then It goes to a screen that says "starting windows"

I run the install driver until I get to "where do you want to install windows?"

no drives appear.... if I choose

To Install the device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files and the click ok

then no matter what driver disc I put in it says:

No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.

Should I just return everything and start over? I'm getting pretty fucking pissed. I have spent my entire day looking at error message and remembering why I switched to Mac in the first place, but I want to mine, built a kick ass rig and now the fucking software wont work. HELP
64  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux... should I go Linux.. CAN I go Linux???? on: April 12, 2013, 09:01:00 PM
I'm going for it.....

feel free to do any of the following.

A) Give advice or answer questions.

B) Predict my outcome......

"That was easy, why did I even bother buying windows?"

"I never should have tried... trying leads to failing and I'm a failure'

(or anything in between.... be creative, be nice, be mean, whatever I have thick skin.)
65  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New Rig- now put together and operational!!! *updated with final parts and cost on: April 12, 2013, 07:59:49 PM
Thanks middlemarkal

Those were two big questions I was wondering about.

66  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Linux... should I go Linux.. CAN I go Linux???? on: April 12, 2013, 07:24:09 PM
I built myself a mining rig, first time ever putting a computer together and now that I am trying to get it up and running I am considering Linux but I have NO experience with Linux....so

1) am I crazy?  (specifically pertaining to trying Linux)

2) Can I go Linux with my rig?  ** Rig parts listed below

3) Is it too late? I already installed Windows 7.

4) I am not a big fan of Windows, have been using Mac for a long time and although I used to know my way around windows, that was about 10 years ago, so I am pretty much starting from scratch either way.... so should I just put that effort into learning and setting up Linux?

5) If I go Linux, a) is Xubuntu the way to do it and b) is it tremendously more involved than downloading Xubuntu, setting that as first boot and rebooting and starting from scratch at that point?

6) Do I need to uninstall Windows? I have read about running them side by side, will that work?

7) Am I crazy?

*The ONLY thing I plan to do on this computer is mine (Btc and Ltc for now).  It seems like a lot of people claim Linux is more stable and that sounds GREAT! I hate windows freezing and crashing, I want my rig up and WORKING.

Parts in my rig:

Graphics Cards     Gigabyte HD7950 3Gb GD5   (X3)  (2 on order, 1 installed)
Processor            AMD FX 4130
Hard Drive          Samsung E 256GB SSD 840 Pro2.5S   (was only 50 bucks more than cheaper alternative, but better resale if needed)
Motherboard         ASROCK 970 Extreme 4
Power                  Corsair 850W Proseries GLD MOD
Ram                   Crucial 16GB 8x2 D3 1600 DIMM C
Case                  Coolmast HAF XM MIDTWR ATX CASE

I am pretty good with following tutorials and I read and retain quite well. (Had zero problems assembling the rig with no experience whatsoever).... but if I am going to be in over my head for some unforeseen reason or something in my rig is not compatible, etc I would rather know before spending a ton of time on this. My thought process is that it still might be early enough in the game to make that switch and benefit from Linux's stability.

Any advice is appreciated.  I am a noob, but I am a very dedicated noob who is trying hard to educate myself so that one day hopefully soon I'll be answering more questions and asking less..... thanks for reading!!

Intersango and BTC-e for me.

I am mining LTC at the moment, and trading them for BTC on BTC-e. Then to my wallet, and finally to Intersango to be sold.

Gox pee'd me off in 2011, so I changed to a local exchange, that being Intersango.

Could you elaborate on the actual process of funding your account on Intersango? (so I can update the OP) I have not used that site before.
69  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question about mining LTC on: April 12, 2013, 02:20:26 PM
I think you are fine, when you install the Litecoin client it generates an address for you.

With Litecoin open, click on "receive coins" and there should be a long string of numbers on the right. That is your address where the litecoins are going.

Maybe someone else can confirm this for you, I am still pretty new at this.

ps:  the link you posted goes to the alternative cryptocurrencies page, not a specific thread.

Everyone should just calm down and listen to some relaxing music.

http://www.listentobitcoin.com/

That tells the story right there of a DDOS attack.  Undecided

look at the prices, .06, <.01, .09 .... just jamming the system up with bullshit.

15    .01 bubbles on the screen at the same time.

You're misinterpreting the small bubbles you're seeing (and hearing) :  ... they represent the actual transaction size in BTC, not the BTC/USD trade price.

I am doing nothing of the sort.  . .  BTC0.01 is about a dollar right now. That is an incredibly small increment for a time when most transactions are occurring on a trading exchange.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people complaining about manipulation? on: April 12, 2013, 05:34:30 AM
Agreed Nesetalis- if you are a believer in bitcoin as something other than a get rich quick scheme, then this is nothing more then a way to benefit from morons who got in bitcoin for all the wrong reasons.

I got myself a HUGE stack of litecoins (relative to my holdings) at a great rate today, sales are great!!

I did realize today that I need to keep more currency in an exchange so that I can capitalize better. Now I know, but I managed a bitinstant purchase and timed it pretty well.

I'm not complaining.

It is all in the marketing.

Perspective #1-

Bitcoin crashes, omfg it was a bubble the sky is falling, sell, panic, move back into my mother's basement!!!

Perspective #2

Bitcoin SALE going on right now, we're slashing prices so low they are INSANE!!! Savings as much as 60% off, you won't find a better deal anywhere, but an offer this good is just too good to last, so call now and take advantage of this great deal while supplies last!!!

I went to the sale. Got a great deal too!!
75  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy new bitcoin with currency 4/11/13 (can you do it without gox?) on: April 12, 2013, 05:17:12 AM
It's a convoluted process, but you can indirectly buy BTC with credit cards using Virwox:
https://www.virwox.com/

Basically, the process is deposit USD instantaneously through credit card using Skrill/Moneybookers. Exchange $ for SLL (Second Life Linden dollars). Exchange SLL for BTC. YMMV on what the final USD/BTC exchange rate will turn out to be.

The only catch is there's a daily and monthly credit card deposit limit in Virwox, but this increases over time.

You can get around the limits by buying SLL at any online retailer who accepts credit cards for SLL. The problem is the only way to transfer SLL to Virwox is through the in-game Virwox ATMs, and this functionality is only available once your character is more than 30 days old (it's free to download and install the game and create a character).

Told you it was convoluted.

uuhhhhhh wut?

Forgive me, as I am not a gamer, but are you saying that I have to get a video game, create a character (site says I have to link to avatar to join and then confirn as the avatar or some shit like that...), then I can buy bitcoins with a credit card or paypal.....

For realsies? You were not kidding about that being convoluted!!! How in the fuck can I explain that in a concise manner in the OP??

Ok, I got three free video game coupons with my mining rig, will any of these work?

Tomb Raider
BioShock infinte
Dirt Showdown

Did they try turning it off and on again?

the move is to blow on it REALLY HARD
77  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Aaaannnd....ITS OVER on: April 12, 2013, 03:43:27 AM
exciting indeed....

I got a purchase in at 130 and one in at 100.

Hopefully one day those will sound like great deals. Maybe even a day that isn't that far away.

I think we are in for a shitshow for a little while.

a) The news is going to have a field day with this nonsense, there will be shit tons of trash talked about BTC, which will both bring new players to the market as well as encourage aggressive volatile trading practices

b) The exchanges need to adopt to the volume, sites going down left in right isn't good for anyone.

c) More options for buying and trading need to emerge..... WE NEED A SERIOUS COMPETITOR FOR MTGOX

78  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy new bitcoin with currency 4/11/13 (can you do it without gox?) on: April 12, 2013, 03:07:52 AM
Bitinstant back to allowing purchase to wallet
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of low post count users here today worried about the price on: April 12, 2013, 02:04:35 AM
Some low post count users have researched and read very thoroughly....

I would imagine most of the speculators getting taken for a ride haven't even heard of this place.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So... This is how you kill bitcoin. on: April 12, 2013, 01:58:47 AM
If that is the plan, then fucking capitalize on it.

Put in low buy orders
don't have ANY market price sell orders (that could get pulled down in a drop)
buy on the dip
DO NOT FUCKING PANIC SELL

Then if the day traders panic, they can get their asses kicked and we can take their coins on sale and send them running home to mommy crying.
