What are cvddc and mvddc ?

Core Voltage, Memory Voltage
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My rig freezes when mining eth on: August 29, 2020, 07:42:49 AM
No, first thing is reducing voltage. No need to edit bios for that.

Too late Shocked
I flashed 1 gpu using ubermix 3.1 straps (it is a samsung memory)
After that MB won't boot with HDMI connected to it, however it is still being recongnized in windows and capable to mine.
I flashed back its original BIOS, however the display was not fixed.

It is still on warranty so I will return the card.

EDIT:
Apparently the backed up ROM extracted from gpu-z of that card was invalid, and the strap modification I did it on that ROM. Good thing is, I did a backup of all ROM so I could reestablish it and its working

As a rule of thumb never use GPUZ to save roms. Use the bios flashing utility itself.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Overclock Sapphire RX 570 NITRO+ 4gb on Simple Mining OS on: August 27, 2020, 04:35:12 PM

Allright go to the "Group OC" section, go to "Add new group OC" and select "RX OS AMD"
Give this overclocking profile a name, enter core and memory overclocking values etc (same as what you had on MIS afterburner on windows) and save.

Then you will have to apply the overclock to your rig
https://imgur.com/eqim099
In the above image, go to "Actions - Group OC Link" and in Group dropdown select the overclocking profile you saved earlier, and it will apply to this rig.

Also the "Error" that you stated earlier isnt an error. Ignore it. Everything works fine.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Overclock Sapphire RX 570 NITRO+ 4gb on Simple Mining OS on: August 26, 2020, 05:26:21 PM

Thats weird. Could you share what Miner configuration you have, from the smOS dashboard?
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Overclock Sapphire RX 570 NITRO+ 4gb on Simple Mining OS on: August 26, 2020, 04:56:36 PM
I need help to overclock RX Sapphire Radeon RX 570 NITRO+ 4gb on Simple Mining OS. I uploaded picture of how it used to be overclocked on Windows, but on Simple Mining OS I get cuda error

Cuda error? Thats an AMD GPU ... We need more details about what error you see - share a screenshot of your OC settings and the error you get on smOS.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 26, 2020, 04:54:31 PM

I will keep these 470s,480s aside and offline for now (i have total 240 + 60 of them)

Oi, whadayamean keep them aside smh. Loan em to me in the meantime Tongue
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mininig with Air Conditioner ??? on: August 24, 2020, 03:04:57 PM
Where I live it can get really hot during the summers and in my experience, AC doesn't do much for the rigs. What you need is a good exhaust to vent out the hot air outside.

That is the thing people dont understand, with temps around 40c or more, during summer or in tropical places, air conditioner does not work unless is totally sealed off and it does double than 3.6 btu per watt. The ambient air will make ac useless if otherwise.

when people are mining with air conditioned rigs. you sell your coins and RUN!  Cheesy

Exactly, but we are not quite there yet hehe, crypto has to rise a lot yet, remember the $20 per card per day? hehe, this week, crypto reached $1 per card per day again, so there is a lot to go before that.

we were never at $20 per card lol what are u talking about, maybe $20 per rig you meant.  Im not talking about mining eth back in 2016 and holding to resell for a profit of $20 plus or more per card.  I don’t remember a sustained $20 output per card for daily ming profits

I got into mining when it was LESS profitable than it is now, waaaaay back in 2016, and even then It boggled my mind how much I was earning. I told everyone I knew to get it, alas almost noone listened.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying used 8 RX580 8GB miner on onda board with 1300W PSU need advice. on: August 19, 2020, 07:23:47 AM
8GPU = 1040 >.<
RX580 undervolt = 85/91Watts not 120/150W
PSU 1200W: => 8*91 = 750w
USe PSU 1200W

Its fine to not know the correct way to read power measurements, thats what forums are for - to ask questions and learn.
It is however totally NOT fine to be advising people in forums when you do not how to read power correctly.

What do you think of the single 1300 Watt (EVGA 1300 G2) power supply that powers the whole rig AND the  8 X RX580 8 GB Sapphire cards?
You don't think its underpowered? Is 1300W good enough for 8 GPU's? Stock? Undervolted?

Perfectly fine to use that 1300w. Get a wattmeter and check consumption at the wall with it to be doubly sure, for extra peace of mind.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which PSU for 4 cards RIG ? on: August 19, 2020, 06:33:56 AM
Why take very expensive PSUs when an 1800W costs $60$ on aliexpress for example? if you look at the videos of chinese farms, there is no brand there ... it minimizes the costs as much as possible which makes sense, i bought 15 1600 / 1800W power supplies at $65$ delivered, and no problem with

Do NOT touch those chinese no name power supplies with a 10 foot pole. Not only are they VERY bad quality, they are inefficient causing you to lose money over time.

Order any server block with wires for a mining farm. Look for quiet power supplies such as the 2450W Delta.
Its price will be less than $ 80, but you can connect 8 video cards if you decide to increase the number of video cards on your farm.
To buy a new power supply unit for 4 cards for 200-300 dollars is not the best financial investment.

Server PSU's are NOT quiet AT ALL, infact they compete with ASIC's on being the loudest mining gear out there.
Good power supplies last decades and are by FAR the best investment for peace of mind, bad PSU's burn far too many GPUs than noobs realise.

Hi I'm looking for building myself a mining RIG with 4x Gigabyte Radeon 5700 XT Gaming OC.

Is the EVGA GQ 1000W a good PSU for this installation ? If it's not, could you please tell me which I can buy ?

Yes, thats a good GPU for 5700XT Ethereum mining. Not to mention EVGA has good warranty and RMA service.
Please always use the 80% rule to make such decisions - for a 1000W PSU make sure you have a system that never needs more than 800W.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2 type Strap, which one i edit? on: August 18, 2020, 07:04:18 PM

ok, now the question, which one i must copying the strap?
the 1:1625 into 1:1750 and 1:2000
Or
the 2:1625 into 2:1750 and 2:2000

or just 2 of them?

Do both. Copy the 1:1625 into 1:1750 and 1:2000
AND the 2:1625 into 2:1750 and 2:2000.

Or you can use SRBPolaris Bios editor and use its 1 click bios timings.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 18, 2020, 03:59:15 PM
If you  use smos you would not  need to do any bios work.

How would that work Phil? Is there a way to inject memory straps/timings at runtime in smOS?

Which meant that the solder joints somehow got cracked and I think it was during the thermal repaste job. So I don't do it anymore since it hardly had a temperature effect anyways on the cards.

Holyshit dude you're scaring me. I wasn't particularly gentle with taking off the crusted cement like thermal paste either ... now I need to get them online and check them asap.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 18, 2020, 07:32:56 AM

240+ GPUs sitting in the storeroom, waiting to be dusted... that's a big effort to put humpty dumpty back all over again..... to be useful for just another 3-4 more months.

I just had to deep clean and repaste 160+ RX 470's. Took a bloody week and I didnt have the energy left to flash them and set them up. Its been two years ... I had forgotten how much work this was.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I bought 30 grand usd worth of P106 and hosted them in China! on: August 15, 2020, 09:01:21 PM
hindsight backwards, at the time how could he know ether was going to $400, what he did know is what he could steadily earn via buying the cheap hardware.  he could have grabbed 30k worth of eth and lost half in a dump to $150.   He took the safe path nothing wrong with that

If it crashed to 150 usd then the result would be the same, he would 3x more time to earn those 30k again because profit would crash 3x and that would be a pain for him as he would be paying for the electricity and earnings would be even smaller, the more it rises the better it is as electricity becomes trivial to pay. The end result would be the same, buying coins would still be the better choice no matter how you do.

Suuuure buddy, keep telling yourself that. Ive seen you sprinkle your salt in EVERY mining thread ever since you missed the mining boat. I dont even understand why you hang around in the mining forums if you are sooo butthurt by mining. I cant even call you a troll, a troll atleast does it for the luls, you just ... seem to have no life.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 14, 2020, 08:41:29 PM
Question 1:  do i need to unplug all GPUs while installing drivers, then only plug them back in after driver install is complete?
Its best to start with 1, and then plug them in 1 by one if you're unsure of the cards being good. If they're all new its fine to just plug them all in.
Quote
Question 2:  do i still need to run pixel-patcher with more current versions of AMD drivers?  I was always using this when using v17 & v18 drivers but wondering if this is still required with their v19 & v20 drivers.
Yes, you still need to. Also dont use the ver 20 drivers, stick to 19 or older.

Btw since you are using windows, you wont be able to mine eth with 4 gb cards, you would need to switch to something like simpleminingOS.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I bought 30 grand usd worth of P106 and hosted them in China! on: August 13, 2020, 05:03:19 PM
Lol no, no it isnt. That was a rhetorical question. Please check your stats over 24 hours with and without "dual" mining zil and compare $$ earnings. Even the 1-2 minutes your system spends mining Zil is not worth it, just mining Eth all the time WILL net you more $$. Not to mention the complexity and chances of failure it adds because of the constant switching.

I guess they will never learn, reminds me people using celeron with their gpus together and because the cpu was being used for mining, that lag between the cpu and gpus lowered the efficiency of the system as a whole and coin hashrate. In the end they were losing more than earning anything worth, trolls never learn.
its of course not worth it if you stupidly sell your zil at the current price then of course lol , even then my average hash rate on nanopool it’s basically the same over a six hr period mining both.  To each thier own

and by the way there are proxy pools now that mine to your primary pool so there is no switching at all, Im passing on information and im troll a troll funny coming from the biggest troll agains mining on this board ok lol.

I've seen you around enough to know that you know your shit Cheesy but wouldn't it be better to just mine Eth and buy the Zil if you really believe it will go up? Because at current rates its better to stick to Eth only.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I bought 30 grand usd worth of P106 and hosted them in China! on: August 12, 2020, 06:48:14 PM
Oh ok, i think we will see ETH at 1000 dollar in next month, but when 400 is enough LOL.
If you don´t need the money then hodl it.

And your reward for 6 Gh is to small.
My daily income on HiveOS pool with 600 Mh is 0,065 ETH and on Ethermine with 1 Gh i get  0.11 ETH. You with 6 Gh around 0.55 ETH?

you should mine zil as well extra earnings

Dual mining is back??? Lol Grin

Dual mining is back for long time, but in a different way  Cheesy and yes Zil+ETH is very profitable  Grin

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ar 570 nitro 4gb not recognizable any more on: August 11, 2020, 12:23:24 PM
Unfortunately no warranty. Is there any way to fix it by my self

If this happened right after a bios flash on a fully working card, its a bios issue and can be fixed by reflashing the correct bios.

If you had been using the card and it was working fine, and one fine day it stopped working then the card has gone bad which happens to Rx 470/480/570/580s a lot (about 10% failure rate over time). Theres nothing you can do to fix it.

79  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Antminer S9 and APW3++ chargers on: August 11, 2020, 11:40:36 AM
Thank you for the reply, I saw some postings earlier in the year about interest in S9, let us see if any one is interested to buy especially that the price is on an upswing.

The S9 is a paperweight now since it costs more to run than it earns, the PSU's may still be worth something, but I doubt you'll find any buyers because those PSU's cant be used for anything other than Antminers.

Bro the s9 can mine 0.0001btc per day at current difficulty ... for the S9 to be profitable you need to have free electricity, or BTC would need to hit 44,000$ WITHOUT the network difficulty going up ... it is a paperweight.
