61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: June 03, 2024, 02:59:13 AM
I see now media are trying to use Trump's conviction in the supposed hush money trial against him, even going as far as to use a poll where people where asked if they approve the conviction or not against him politically. Well, people might approve of the conviction and still vote for him, has anyone thought of that? There's tons of reasons to dislike Biden (I like doing genocide) Joe and using political donations wrongly isn't worse than the things he has done. So even if the conviction was based on such evidence I don't think people voting will care. If anything, it'll probably give Trump more leverage.

"Well, people might approve of the conviction and still vote for him, has anyone thought of that?"  I mean yeah anyone whos not a complete moron.  I mean from a betting standpoint this whole thing is kind of fun, as it's about as bizarre as it gets.  From a real world and real consequence standpoint, it's insane that anyone would fully and truly support either of these fools.

As an Independent it's really hard for me to understand how anyone could be so far left or so far right.  Both parties such ass.  But again, this is one crazy bet lol.  Insert deep breath/disbelief emoji.
62  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 01, 2024, 09:22:08 PM
I watched almost all the games in the play-offs. The Mavericks came from a harder path. The Celtics made it to the finals without a real test because they played relatively weaker opponents. From this point of view, we can say that the Mavericks are more prepared for this challenge. If the Celtics manage to play game endings better, this time they can get the expected championship. I'd say Boston in 6.

I haven't watched the playoffs as closely as I normally do, but I definitely agree with your point here.  I think it should be a pretty entertaining/well balanced finals.  I can't see either team just taking it down going like 4-0 or 4-1.

Anyone see Luca trying to enjoy a beer last night and the Vice President of the team comes up to him, shakes his hand and then takes the beer away  Cheesy  I mean wtf.
63  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Institution who control's the Market on: June 01, 2024, 09:19:07 PM
As a long time financial advisor, the vast majority of people on here simply do not have a clue about how the financial world works.  This is actually a really decent write up about how some of the financial world works.

One thing I would like to add, these days actively managed Mutual Funds are really a waste of money.  ETFs (and there are actively managed ETFs) are a much better route overall for investing in to stock or bond funds.

Another type of fund to mention would be CIT's, Collateral Investment Trust funds.  These have become quite popular in todays world for retirement plans such as 401k's / 457b's / 403b's etc.  They tend to be the lowest cost funds there are, but the negative is they are not regulated by the SEC, but the states comp troller, and there is a level of lack of transparency that I'm not fond of.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't forget to HODL your BTC on: June 01, 2024, 09:13:13 PM
I do agree with you to an extent.  I know this is not the most popular opinion and there's a lot of people who argue against this these days, but for me personally, I think it's important to use bitcoin for financial transactions as I still consider bitcoins upside being tied to the use of it as a currency.  Again, I know a lot of people don't agree with me, but I think they're wrong.  I mean bitcoins upside is still huge without it being used much as a currency, but IMO it's twice as big if it is used in that capacity.
65  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Becomes of Gambling if Sport book is taken away. on: June 01, 2024, 09:10:49 PM
Well there's always going to be ways to gamble OTC (Over the counter), like using a bookie, as people have done for many decades now.  I think it would definitely put a dent in physical casinos bottom line, but I really don't think it would be a massive blow to overall attendance at places like Vegas.  You can easily bet sports right on your phone, people go to Vegas for the experience and other types of gambling games.
66  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vegas Gambling Tips/Do's and Don'ts on: June 01, 2024, 09:08:40 PM
Thanks for the recommendations everyone!  I just think that going to vegas is one of those things that everyone should experience at least once in their life.  One of the main reasons I want to go is to play in a few poker tournaments.  I'm a bit rusty, but I use to be pretty damn good at poker and would love to test my skills there.

The best advice one can get when going to Vegas is to stay away from cocaine and get lots of sleep. At least that’s what my advice would be. I remember going to a casino in Vegas with a restaurant that accepted BTC back in probably 2016, but it was all a gimmick. Maybe it’s more normalized now, but as a Bitcoiner I guess my best advice would be to spend your USD instead of your BTC.

If I thought the cocaine would be any good I might give it a dabble but I'm sure it's garbage like most is (not that I like doing it anymore anyhow).  And I hear ya, I've been trying to use less and less bitcoin and more USD as much as possible.
67  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Planning to sell my 0.1 casascius coin. Unredeemed. I have no idea how on: June 01, 2024, 05:22:45 AM
Pinned at the top of this board is all the info you’d ever need for how to sell on here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277761.0

I would absolutely not mail this. It’s worth enough now that flying across the world is worth it (I mean within reason, not a first class flight booked a day in advanced. There’s too many variables and things that could go wrong and it’s just not worth the risk, insurance on crypto (if you can even purchase it) is always risky , some countries it could pass through via the mail route might seize it as there’s been new law changes of late regarding crypto transactions (I can’t remember specifics, just that laws are getting tighter around it) etc etc..just dont do it unless the buyer agrees to take on the risk 100%.

Minerjones has escrowed millions of dollars worth of coins over a decades span here. If he was going to steal the escrowed funds, it wouldn't be for this sale lol.

I’d try to find a buyer in the EU and take a quick flight/train ride to meet in the middle or perhaps have them come to you as part of the deal.

These coins are very highly sought after. Make sure you look at past sales here and understand its current value. Also look at past sales at Stacks - https://stacksbowers.com/cryptocurrency/

As others have stated do not communicate off forum with anyone. There’s ALWAYS scammers watching these threads looking to sneak in and pretend to be forum members.

I’d personally ask for offers, take your time and settle on the best deal. You’ll get DMs like “I don’t like making offers, what do you want for this” tell them to eat a dick, you can do whatever you want.

Best of luck

Edit - get yourself a legitimate coin capsule , like yesterday.  Not all capsules are created equal either- these are legit https://air-tites.com/ . I would wipe out the capsule with 90% rubbing alcohol, and then place the capsule in an air tight tube/container that’s also been cleaned and stored in a climate controlled environment. Sound extreme? Silver can tone very easily and very quickly , I know from too many unfortunate experiences.
68  Economy / Economics / "Hong Kong Expands Cross-Border Digital Yuan Trial" on: May 31, 2024, 09:19:10 PM
"Hong Kong Expands Cross-Border Digital Yuan Trial, Allows Residents to Set Up E-CNY Wallets"- https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2024/05/17/hong-kong-expands-cross-border-digital-yuan-trial-allows-residents-to-set-up-e-cny-wallets/

I'm curious what you guys think about this.  Thanks to an awesome forum member, I was actually able to get my hands on a pack of Digital Yuan "hardware" wallet cards, and even got one funded with some digital yuan.  Now I'm fully aware this is not actually cryptocurrency, and is just another way for China, a dictatorship, to track it's citizens payments.  I am kind of shocked that HK is joining in on this, and to be honest I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to HK/China relations, but from what I've been "told", is that basically HK is giving in to China..can anyone confirm that?

Anyways..if anyone in China or HK sees this, and is able to access any sort of digital yuan cards/hardware wallets (they made several for the Olypics in 2022 that look AWESOME) I would love to buy a few.

Though I'm not holding my breath, tbh this forum has made me so many great friends across the globe.  I consider myself a citizen of the world, and want peace and love and all that good stuff..but why are Chinese people so standoffish when it comes to chatting with "outsiders", or Americans?  Hands down the most difficult people to converse with, have open dialog with across the globe that I've encountered is Chinese/HK citizens.  I just don't understand why?
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing, the Trump pump is beginning on: May 31, 2024, 09:05:44 PM
I don't think this is unexpected at all.  Since Donny T will sell anything to make a buck, and got in to those ridiculous NFTs he sold, he would have to be pretty dumb (which he is imo) but really dumb to go and fight against crypto when he uses aspects of it to make money for his campaign /pay his legal bills or whatever.

I can guarantee that neither Trump or Biden could explain Bitcoin or the blockchain with any sort of coherency.  If Trump wins the presidency or if Biden wins, I don't believe it will impact bitcoins price at all. But that's just my 2.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: May 31, 2024, 09:02:19 PM
Well, this is definitely scary and that is the problem. People who would like to vote for Trump, do not care that he is a criminal, and that is a very scary thing, this dude is a convicted felon and he is willing to go to distance and still have a big chance to be the president.

We have never seen an American president that was a convicted felon, to be fair considering what most of them did, they should have been, but they were not and that is a quite dangerous thing to put, because it opens up the doors that "if you can get elected, then you can do anything, even commit crimes, it all depends if you can still get the votes". Trump is the root cause, and what happens after him will be very very dangerous because of the road that he started for every other criminal.

I absolutely hate Donald Trump, with a passion ( I hate Biden too, just not quite as much), but I fear he's still got a very good chance of winning the election.  The felony conviction will be over ruled by a higher court, and at most he'll get a fine and a slap on the wrist.

I wonder how much the odd's have gone down since he was convicted guilty on all accounts in his latest trial ( I can't keep track of them all).

One bet that's a sure bet, all Governments suck and are corrupt as all hell.  So sad.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Summer Olympics 2024 on: May 31, 2024, 08:57:55 PM
What really sucks is that we no longer get to see Usain Bolt (was a big fan of Yohan Blake as well).  For me, my favorite Olympic sport hands down is the 100 and 200 meter dash.  After that it would definitely have to basketball.

As for betting, I'll likely only bet Basketball.  I know I'm going to put down a bet on the US to win it all, who is going to absolutely destroy everyone as this year all the best players decided to play.  Does anyone have a casino they use that allows for US Mens basketball bets to be made now?  The casinos I use for whatever reason only have womens basketball available.  I assume that some of the best international (outside the US) players perhaps havent committed yet?
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Vegas Gambling Tips/Do's and Don'ts on: May 31, 2024, 08:44:37 PM
I've got a bunch of airline miles I am needing to burn through and crazily enough one of the few places I've never been to in the United States is Vegas.  I gamble online , St Louis, Lake Tahoe and that's about it.  I hear you should only go to Vegas for 4 days max, as a week is a burn out, and also Vegas is just very good at separating you from your money.  I'm just curious for those in the know, what would be your biggest "do's and don'ts " in Vegas?  Are there certain games that Vegas "sneaks" in worse odds than say when gambling online?  Also, I'm curious if Vegas has adopted bitcoin at all..if anyone knows?

Just some basics is all I'm looking for really.  My favorite games are Texas Hold'em, Roulette, Black Jack, and Checkers (kidding).  Thanks!

Also curious if gambling at certain casinos can get you a discount at the Sphere ?
73  Economy / Reputation / Re: 🍕 Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk on: May 30, 2024, 09:32:39 AM
@icopress ..is it too late to add a few prizes?  Would like to chip in some physical btc collectibles ( Crypto magazine, Bitcoin themed DIY wallet coins etc, and IF I can find it, a limited edition Pizza Day Ledger wallet).

Plz let me know if this sounds good to you ICO, again if not too late.
74  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin’s bull run coming to an end? on: May 28, 2024, 06:54:06 PM
I dont think anyone knows for sure when the bitcoin "bull run" is coming to an end.  I think if you look at the technical analysis a little bit that will help explain some of these recent price movements, but at the end of the day I feel like a lot of it has to do with the 70k mental barrier/mark. It seems as soon as we hit that price point, the market sells off.  It's not like its fallen that far either.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I now accept bitcoin payments in my Beauty shop on: May 28, 2024, 06:51:25 PM
Now this is awesome, this is exactly the type of post I love to see here on bitcointalk.  The message board that satoshi created years back was all about things like this and less about "profit" talk.  Sure that is something that is involved here, but this is about using bitcoin as a means of money transacting and spreading the word.  You're doing a lot of good here and I know the community is proud of you for it!
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 28, 2024, 06:47:21 PM
I have been betting on the Mavs all of these other games, but I think this game I'm going to actually take the TWolves just because I feel like they are going to have to win at least one game.  I do wish the spread was a bit higher, so I'll probably just take the Twolves money line.  Even though the Wolves haven't won a game yet, it has been a pretty fun/interesting series to watch!
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 28, 2024, 06:45:33 PM
A little crazy that Anthony Edwards still thinks that Minnesota is going to win while they’re on the verge of being swept, but I like the confidence. Hopefully they can win at least one game to avoid embarrassment, but at this point I think we’re all ready to call the Finals between Dallas and Boston. Should be a good series.

I mean what do you expect the guy to say.  He was awesome in that Adam Sandler movie, but that's seems to be pretty much what he's like in real life.  He's very cock/arrogant.  Problem is he's going up against two superstars who aren't going to relinquish shit, they are up 3 games.  I could maybe see them winning 1 game (the wolves that is) but nothing past that.  This belongs to the Mavs.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People keep asking me to borrow money, some of them for betting on: May 28, 2024, 06:42:39 PM
I don't let anyone borrow money, especially if it's for gambling purposes.  It reminds me of a time when my x-gf  asked me if she should loan her cousin money.  I asked her what her cousin was like and why he needed the money.  She told me he was pretty "famous" for not paying his debts and that he often used money to gamble, but that for this time it was "different".  I pleaded with her not to.  Long story short her dad loan him the money, and months later he was months late on his debt, not sure he ever got it back.  Dont loan money to people is my motto.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Religion. Beliefs or Choices? on: May 26, 2024, 11:15:39 PM
No this has never been an issues for me as an agnostic atheist.  While I do believe that some religions do have a great purpose of teaching people how to live their lives in a moral manner, I think they are all fake, or likely fake and I think it's insane to let a book of words by someone who refuses to show themselves, that's completely made up on "faith" is a bit insane.  Why should any religion prohibit one from gambling.  What's it to them?

I find it silly, like much of religion.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exposure to bitcoin at young age on: May 26, 2024, 11:08:47 PM
Do you think that exposure to bitcoin at an young age is a good thing in general ? I feel it should be taught based on individual personality and not to very young guy. This is because all young guys might not be responsible enough to invest and track with patience at young age. However, those who have the required patience can make very high returns on their investment by investing at an young age. So, which side are you in this aspect ? Do you feel that all young guys should be informed and educated about bitcoin ?

"and not to very young guy" lol.  Why not "young girl"?  Do you come from a nation that is so backwards that it believes women shouldn't be involved in such "important things as finance? I sure hope not.

There's nothing wrong with teaching your children (men or WOMEN) about money.  Whether that be a nations fiat currency, or a new breakthrough technological currency called bitcoin.
