I will say I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I think you are confused about how the uploading works. Adding a magnet link from say TPB into webtorrent to check if it works is true. Where I think you might be wrong is after that. Copying the magnet link from the webtorrent client is a different link than the magnet link on another torrent site like TPB. I have actually tested it out by adding a new movie on the site and playing it. The downloading on the site ONLY comes from my link, meaning I would be the sole seeder until someone else could download the webtorrent magnet link. Then there would be more seeders. You cannot use torrent seeders for this.

I think the reason for it is this

Say you are downloading a torrent from a standard torrent client and a webtorrent client and you map the beginning and end of how the file is downloaded on both platforms, it would look like this:

WebTorrent:
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A                                                                                                                  B

Straight across in a stream as that is the only way to handle a stream

Standard Torrent client:
   ||||      |       |||||            |   ||            ||||     ||||||||||              ||||       |     ||||
A                                                                                                                  B

Standard torrent clients cannot stream as it takes the most available pieces of the content until it equals 100%

This means, until you allow others to download those webtorrent links, you would have to rely on the original seeder/poster of the webtorrent link. They cannot remove that link and they will have to seed it.

WebtorrentDesktop, Vuze and a number of other torrent clients are what are considered 'hybrid' clients and can download and upload data between both traditional torrent protocol and webrtc based torrent protocol. By using a torrent link for a file already seeded by hundreds or thousands of seeders it makes the file more robust in the long term. For those who want to use a magnet link from our website to save the file (using a hybrid or traditional torrenting client) the file will be fast with tons of peers and seeds. For those who want to watch directly in the browser, their service gets faster and more reliable as the site grows and the technology is adopted by more and more torrent clients. It is worth mentioning that webrtc torrents are new but growing quickly. WebTorrent-Desktop has over 250k installs and vuze has well over a million. As they become more popular and as our site grows and matures it will be only natural for other torrent clients to add in webrtc compatibility

By suggesting you submit torrents to the site that are already popular, distributed and compatible it future proofs the service.

The in-browser streaming has limitations based on what browsers will and will not allow you to do. You cannot create tcp/udp connections by ip/port meaning you cannot connect to traditional torrent clients. WebRTC solves that restriction by allowing you to connect to hybrid torrent clients and other users of the site.

In regards to the magnet link changing: WebTorrent-Desktop adds a number of 'default' trackers to every item added to it to improve compatibility but there is a common misconception with torrents that the magnet link is needed. All you need for a torrent to work is the file hash. If you look at the magnet link you will have a parameter as urn:btih:. The hash following that can be placed in any torrent client and it >should< be able to re-create the torrent file. The trackers are there to improve speed of reconstructing the torrent file and to speed the process of finding peers where DHT cannot be used effectively or as quickly.

Very short version: When submitting to the site, please use media that is already well seeded to avoid issues. Right now the site is very much proof of concept still and we are working on the underlying code to make it as quick and stable as possible. In the long term we will rely on more torrent clients adopting the hybrid model which will offer a HUGE boost to site performance.

Now for your actual question: There's no technology difference in how torrents are actually run. Only the networking method to send and receive data changes. What happens is that it sets the priority for the 'next block' as high and as soon as one block is finished (generally around .5% of a total file) it will begin playing the video. When you seek to a different point in the video timeline it does the same thing simply re-ordering the block priority until the entire file is finished downloading. At that point the full video file is stored locally in your browsers temporary files and we offer you a link to save the full video file for later. Because you've already finished downloading it, saving the video file to your computer should only take a few seconds as it simply has to re-write it to permanent storage.

We have been culling old torrents users submitted who were incorrectly assuming our site would mirror and host the content for them (we do NOT host any copyright materials, that would be a huge legal issue for the project). As part of our next major set of site updates there will be a report video option as well as automated video analytic on our side to locate and hide/remove invalid torrents. At a glance it looks as though the items you linked had 1-2 seeders total so when they stopped seeding the video files became unavailable. This is why we HIGHLY encourage people who submit content to the site to choose an existing torrent rather than making their own. If you are going to re-encode something for compatibility sake, make sure to also submit it to major torrent sites so that there will be dozens of people mirroring the same content to ensure it is around for months/years to come with a proper swarm of seeders.

In your example it seems to work for me although it is a bit slow.

Hello everyone,

One of our community members Dynamic Index was relentless in his contacting us to let us know he was willing to come on board and share his talents of web design. We're pleased to say we think he's been doing a great job so far working on some new UI designs for the upcoming changes we're making to the site. We'd like to share his work so far with the community to get some additional feed back about the designs he's working on, so let us know your thoughts

http://imgur.com/a/y9jBc

Please keep in mind we're actively looking to grow the PureVidz development team by recruiting those with talents that can be deployed and are useful to our project. If you feel you have what it takes and you're interested in working with us, please reach out to us Smiley

Ok, i am all for this but we have now under 40 movies, that's hardly the pace i thought they would show up. I am getting lots of rejections and don't know what i am doing wrong. Maybe a small tutorial would help the flow of movies? Btw only files i've got in mp4 without converting are porn... lot's of it.

The files we have rejected either have no seeders so when tested did not populate any torrent data or were not in the proper format. All submitted content must have a healthy amount of seeders (preferably 50+), the file must be a mp4 video and must be encoded with h264 video, aac audio. Finding compatible files is quite easy by searching any major torrent site.

As for old items being removed, we have continued to improve the responsiveness of the service and to make sure it can be more reliable at playing videos (there was some problems with torrents sometimes requiring you to refresh the page for them to play). We are continuing to improve the underlying code but we did notice a lot of early submitted content was very low seeder items (1-3 seeders meaning of those people go offline the file is not available). Listing items on the site that could fail to play based on time of day is not what we want for the service so we are being more strict about how many seeders are required to ensure maximum compatibility and uptime.

Here is a quick and easy tutorial for those with no technical knowledge.

-Download WebTorrent-Desktop. If the torrent plays in that it should play in our site
-Go to your preferred torrent tracker site such as pirate bay and search for an item
-Find a item referencing h264 or simply put the magnet link into webtorrent and confirm its a mp4 file
-Right click the item in webtorrent-desktop and copy the magnet link
-Submit the magnet link to the website

While it is appreciated if you seed the file in the long term to make it as fast and reliable as possible, if you are pulling a torrent that already has 100 or more seeds it should be in no way required and once submitted you can remove it from webtorrent desktop. I simply suggest using that as a test as it is easy to use and will quickly let you see if a torrent is compatible.

hey guys, by writing

    Account Management
    Media / Video Management

in ANN

is that meant purevidz will implement 'media' like music, TV/NetFlix series, ebooks e.g. ?

That means we will expand on your account management options. Updating your passwords, tracking what content you've submitted and its status, if you're a moderator approving new items submitted to the site, etc. The scope of our project is video only. While music would be easy to add, there are already many, many streaming music sites out there and so we plan to keep our focus to movies and television for now with the possibility of a XXX subdomain for those who are interested. By keeping our focus on specific content it will allow us to grow and advertise easier.

Hi everyone,

A user of our community has created a community driven Slack for us, and for the time being we've decided it's a good place to start building out community. To join, sign up a disposable email at http://mailnesia.com/ and then visit https://vidztoken.slack.com/signup to join!

Tomorrow, we'll be opening up Twitter registration. If you participated in the Twitter bounties, you'll need to sign up an account on http://purevidz.net if you haven't already. Once Twitter registration is enabled, we'll post instructions on how to attach your Twitter to your account via open authentication. Twitter registration will be enabled for 10 days, and then after this we'll be verifying those who signed up for authenticity and eligibility for the bounties. The entire process should take about 12-14 days. Any VIDZ earned from the bounty will be paid directly to your PureVidz account.

Follow us on Twitter @PureVidz for quick news updates and for the latest movie/tv content added.

Thanks.

Just added a one month tipping slot for vidz on Cryptopia, enjoy.

Thanks, we appreciate the support on Cryptopia we've received so far!

QUESTION:

When will the fully finished, polished and pimping purevidz be launched?

Dev any news about vidz integration into the website?

Pure Vidz is an on going project. There's no real 'finished' goal in mind. However, so far we think we've done a pretty good job of following the road map outlined in the opening post. Before February, we hope to have some more of the key features such as VIDZ integration added to the infrastructure. After our first major update, we'll be looking to update the roadmap with our future plans ahead.

This coin is so under-the-radar...
That "webtorrent" has appeared only once in this thread past the OP.

These guys are the 1st to monetize a network with probably 500K downloads by now...
This is bleeding edge 2016 streaming tech that can, eventually, be optimized and 100% decentralized using only browsers.

https://torrentfreak.com/webtorrent-250k-downloads-strong-with-zero-revenue-160827/

We agree, and as such we've updated our title and will be aiming to draw more attention to that term.

~

How many vidz are expected to be given out for the twitter bounty. Id like to know so I have a better understanding of how many free vidz will be out there.

It's hard to say, but we'll have this information published in about 10 days after we close Twitter sign ups.

Aren't all the movies and shows here actually torrents in the background? So, anything you find on any other torrent site, with a few hundred seeders, and a few thousand leechers, in the proper format (mp4 or whatever it must be) can actually be submitted and suddenly anyone can stream it ?

So, for the bounty hunters, all they really need to do is scour their regular show supplier, or "the most resilient in the galaxy" ....

As long as it meets the criteria of the proper video and audio encoding it can be submitted Smiley
As a reminder, the content being submitted must be of the file type *.mp4 with h264 video encoding and AAC audio encoding.

I really wish there would be support for .avi and .mkv

Unfortunately, this is something not entirely covered within the scope of our project at this time. HTML5 video playback requires the audio/video encoding that we specify and there's no intent that we're aware of for support of avi/mkv in HTML6. We're trying to avoid having to resort to things such as browser plugins such as Flash for maximum compatibility.

Hello everyone,

It's been more than 72h now and Yobit has not complied with their listed time for the 0.5 BTC we paid. We've reached out to them via their support ticket system as well as on Twitter. Please retweet this and draw to their attention that you also want to be able to trade VIDZ on Yobit so they feel more of a need to prioritize our addition.

https://twitter.com/PureVidz/status/821162181135888385

We have updated the wallet in the OP to fix the issue with the text color in the transactions section. This is not a mandatory update, but if it has been bothering you, please redownload the wallet and this should solve your problem.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

We've been steadily working towards our goals over the last few days and are happy to see we've been listed on at least one exchange so far. Since we requested a paid listing we're hoping Yobit complies in a timely fashion and adds us on Monday as per their stated guidelines.

We've updated some of the account management features allowing users with weak passwords to change them and also allowing users to further secure their account through the user of Google Authenticator. You can enable two factor for your account by logging into your dashboard and clicking Activate. On your phone, install the Google Authenticator app and scan the QR code provided. Then enter the 6 digit code and click activate. When logging into your account, you will also be prompted to enter this. If you do not have two factor enabled, you can leave the otp (one time password) field blank.

Password recovery via email will be added tomorrow, however of course this will only work if you're using a valid email. If you aren't and you lose access to your account, you'll need to contact us personally. No feature we add will forcibly require email validation. We believe this is an important step towards users maintaining their anonimity in our system. If you do want to register with a valid email address while protecting yourself, we advise using a service such as Bitmessage which is free or make a secondary email not directly associated with yourself.

Since the crowdfunding process we've been working hard to reach the point we're currently at where the site has its core functionality completed. Users have been helping grow this platform by uploading videos and as such we've made things a little more straightforward by adding a reminder about the requirements of video/audio encoding at the bottom of the upload page. If your content was rejected, you should now have a clickable delete button. In the next major update, we'll be mandating it so that when a moderator reviews your content if it's rejected a reason must be stated as to why since as an uploader we know it can be both confusing and disheartening to have your content rejected and left pondering as to why.

Our next major steps moving forward are to further refine our services making things easier to use, more fluid, etc. We expect our next major update to occur in about 2-3 weeks from now, but we'll be releasing small updates a long the way instead of everything at once to make it easier to identify if any new feature causes issues which will greatly help with testing.

After this update occurs we'll then be aiming to open our doors to the public and starting to allow other developers to cooperate with us in terms of improving our platform. If you're a developer yourself, feel free to reach out to us personally and let us know what you'd like to see in terms of api functionality and it will be taken into consideration. We're also looking for web UI/UX designers so please reach out to us if you're interested.

We'll be looking to address Twitter bounties this week, we thank you for being patient about this.

Thanks again for your support.

Why were my movie uploads rejected?

Was I supposed to leave them seeding for the five days no one could watch them because they were pending?

It's kind of frustrating when there is no place to get in contact with you, or to know when my submissions are going to actually be looked at, or even the reason why it was rejected.

I resubmitted some of them but I think I might just forget about doing it since I feel like I won't be able to get accepted unless I have a seedbox.

Quite likely due to wrong format, encoding, etc. needless to say they weren't working when they were tested and such denied from the moderator queue. When we release our first big upgrade as in not the one coming this Sunday, but later on I can include something where the moderator denying your submission has to leave some form of feedback be it some pre-defined options or a custom text message so the user at least knows why it was rejected from the index.

Also, if the content isn't seeding then when we test playing them before approving it obviously won't play which then we have no way of validating what you submitted is actually what you say it is, etc.

Hello everyone, currently we're working on some core features for the site that we expect to be made available on Sunday. Currently, we are still waiting to hear back from Yobit.

Enjoy your weekend.

The block explorer has been added to the OP which has raised some questions,
Top 10 investor have 75% of the coin..  I think we can go to 5-10k when the marketing starts

there's still about ~53.5 million coins left to be withdrawn which is just over half the amount sold. Coins have been broken into change addresses due to the many withdrawals that have occurred so many of the top addresses are unwithdrawn coins. The development fund contains 24.6 million coins currently. We've added a section in the opening post for transparency purposes so that people understand how the development fund is being used and what it's being spent on.

If you have any direct questions, feel free to PM myself and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know!

Could you please publish the Dev fund address in a visible place in OP, and officially keep it there so everyone could easily review it?
You could ideally make it clickable to go Crytopid explorer, and also make sure all Dev funds are always kept there - without moving to any change addresses.

Yes, we'll been moving the majority of the dev fund into a cold wallet address which will be made public and then expenditures will be made from a hot wallet. The cold wallet will contain 20,000,000 VIDZ and the hot wallet will contain the rest of the VIDZ in the dev fund.

This will be done the same time as when our changes mentioned earlier are published to live, so likely Sunday.

Is it just me, or the font color in "Recent transactions"ist of the Windows wallet needs an improvement?

I see it through Teamviewer, so it might happen that is the reason, but it looks like 'white font on light grey background' and is almost not visible.

Otherwise the wallet looks good. I was extremely surprised to see I am the first person who checked the Win-qt wallet in Virustotal, but I am glad to tell it was reported to be completely clean: https://virustotal.com/en/file/d72d04fbf7371c75adfac713d4ae96f2fe4d261a42b4ebb9c4b76d34c02b93f3/analysis/1484181840/ Smiley

I'll try to get this fixed soon. People who want this issue fixed will have to redownload the wallet once it's fixed, but it is not a mandatory update.

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

As we had stated earlier we have already contacted Yobit and have begun the process for a listing on their exchange. Following this, we will be reaching out to other exchanges. Once we've been added on Yobit, we'll post back here but since Yobit tweets their coin additions you can also monitor their twitter @yobitexchange

Hello everyone,

We're glad to say our crowdfund has ended with great success. We look forward to making PureVidz a success and starting the process of building the PureVidz community. We'll soon be setting up a Slack as a means of easy communication with investors as well as users of the site who may need help or are interested in chatting; think back to the IRC days.

The wallet will be launched publicly on github and windows/mac prebuilds will be provided within 24h. Then after we'll start the process of allowing people to withdraw their coins. Once we have a block explorer available which should be Monday, we'll complete the application for a Yobit listing. We strongly recommend you keep your coins and the network safe by running your own wallet and don't rely on an exchange or our web wallet as the primary storage for your coins.

If you have any questions for us about our PureVidz Platform or the VIDZ coin feel free to ask away on our thread or send us a private message.

Upload movie Death Race 2050 dev accept this movie is from 2017 year.My BTC was confirmed more then 3 .

Hello, I checked the moderation queue and the submission does not pass the site guidelines.

Content must be .mp4 with h264 video encoding and aac audio encoding. These restrictions are in place to ensure maximum compatibility between browsers and to keep file sizes reasonable for people using the site. For example someone submitted a 8 gig movie earlier. There is rarely a reason for a movie to be larger than 2 gig as anything higher bitrate is generally not noticeable and generally shows poor encoder settings.

Dev what happens at the end if btc is sent after the closing of the sale?

Funds initially sent after the end of the ICO would be returned to sender rather than being forwarded to the escrows. Funds sent before but not confirmed will still be sent along as it would be unreasonable for us to block an investment due to long confirmation times.

I tried to upload a same movie multiple times, since i fucked up, and now i have a line of pending movies, unable to cancel any of them. And unable to upload anything. Everything just goes to "pending"

In the production version of the site, users will be able to delete/remove content that they've uploaded. It's marked pending because while your video is sharable as in as soon as you upload something you then have a link you can share with people. Since it is "pending" it means it has not been added to the search index yet and is waiting for approval by a moderator ensuring the content is what you say it is and works.

It's worth bringing up the format rules again given some users are uploading content.

All submissions must be .mp4 using h264 video encoding and aac video encoding. They also must be seeded using a webrtc compatible torrent client such as webtorrent or vuze. As the service grows more and more releases will be done in the proper format to be compatible with our site. Right now it just requires a bit of extra searching to make sure what you're submitting will work on the site properly.

Thanks for your interest in making the service bigger and better Smiley
