However, feel free to experiment yourself.
Just edit .inf file, reboot and check what happens ; )
I can show you what exactly and how to edit.
The problem is there are a lot of configuration parameters in the driver.
And n1 knows what all of them do and which ones affect this "Code 43" and even if driver config matters for 470.
Maybe driver has something hardcoded for 470 and ignores all the driver configuration or some part which matters..

Can you wrote new program, which can run all 6 GPUs on Win7? I'll donate you, if you can.

I've already tried and sadly was not able to make 6x470 work in Win7.
I do approximatly see a way - attach debugger to Win and find out what exactly is going on with the driver.
As in why it is throwing an exception(hence Code 43).
However it is somewhat complicated remotely. And I only have 6x290 systems on hands.
And since Win10 works..

Also you can try Server 2016 - same Win10 but without all the bullshit.
Telemetry is enabled tho, but can be disabled like in Win10 in services.

And a new problem: I dont see any speed improvement by modifying the clocks, its like afterburner didnt work.
Maybe it didn't - check core clock in GPU-Z and AF.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: December 13, 2016, 10:14:13 AM
Also, any interferance with the GPU except the miner can cause GPU to go idle/low power state.
F.e. - Screen saver/GPU-Z/MSI Afterburner/any soft which uses GPU.
Some software on launch/some rendering/profile apply/etc makes GPU to enter 3D mode, after it is finished GPU goes idle/low state.

Or it simply hangs in OpenCL due to unstable clocks and then resets itself.
Visually it can be seen on display as very quick flicker.

Hi!, I just tried rising vcore by 6% and power limit by 10% and it might just have lasted a bit longer, but in the end, it ended up crashing again.

Raise vcore until it stops crashing. Or decrease core clock.

I would really love if someone could help me with another issue you might encounter in the future.

For some reason, after a couple of hours mining perfectly, one gpu drops its mem clock from whatever stock setting it is to 300, which causes that gpu to mine a 1/5 % of the speed, usually around 47 sols/s (amd 470 4 gb modded). so I am constantly having to reinstall drivers, patch, etc, to get it work normally again, since simple restarts do not solve the problem.

I am using 6x 470 4gb cards, z97 gaming 5 mobo, 8gb ram, windows 8.1

Raise vcore.

Cool ; )

What's 80x25? Seems like it's not present in the manual.
Ok, that's text mode res ; ) So what does POST indicator say?
@70~77,D2 Late South Bridge Initialization
92~96,B5,D4 PCI bus Initialization@

Display should be attached to GPU in PCI_E2.
CPU PCI-E Lane Configuration -> dunno, but lowest possible, Gen1
PEGX - Gen X-> Gen1
PCI Latency Timer -> play with it
Initiate Graphic Adapter -> PEG
IGD Multi-Monitor -> Disabled
Integrated Graphics Share Memory -> dunno.. 32M
Integrated GPU should be disabled anyway, tho I can't see BIOS option to do it.
Intel(R) Rapid Start Technology -> Disabled
Internal GOP Configuration -> What's that?
Full Screen Logo Display -> Enabled
Boot Mode Select -> try both

Also try shorting PCI-e presence on all risers.
And maybe different BIOS versions.
RAM - try more/less/different.

..
I wasted already so many hours 12h in total to get it working.. but i tend to throw it out of the window and let a car smash it.

Time to disclose your hardware ; )
Motherboard?
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: December 09, 2016, 12:52:25 PM
+ for a lot of mobos display must be connected to the primary GPU selected in BIOS
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: December 09, 2016, 12:50:02 PM
Well... AMD driver.. sux ; ) That's for sure.
But, maybe there is also other stuff in play.
I've no experience at all with multi nVidia GPUs.. except with a lot of AMD + some nVidia.

Some stuff that can interfere(what I've seen) - not enough RAM, dual/single/whatever RAM issues(some motherboards don't work with a lot of GPUs and 4x2GB), PCIe bandwidth and revision(should be the lowest possible, x1@1.1), integrated GPU(disabled), incorrectly "hacked" Win(only KMS should be used). Especially Intel(z77) motherboards are completely fucked up when it concerns PCIe lanes distribution.
Weird things - GA-990fxa rev.1 boots headless only with "Full Screen Logo Show" enabled Oo, some GPUs just don't work with risers at all.

So..... well.... >Smiley

And deffo you are not using "one of the fastest available there" SSDs ; ) If by "there" you mean "in the world".

I would be interested on how you guys install new driver or initial setup with more than 3 cards.
I tried the method 1 card install and then install next one after each other..

But i often came across the point of loop flickering, BSOD, or random..how to say looks like MEM freeze artifacted picture.
It also takes a long time ..very long e.g with 4 cards until the setup is done and inbetween the system often freeze mouse and keyboard not working and then it suddenly after 10min works a few seconds and freezes again.

It took me always more than 2h to get 6 cards to work after countless bsods, crashes, freezes on Windows 10..So I'm curious how you guys do it and what problems you experienced.

I'd say you have some hardware issue.

AMD driver install can take a lot of time(max I've seen ~1h) because it keeps re-installing driver for all GPUs on each GPU setup, hence 6 ! installs on 6xGPU rig.
However, I've never seen lockups on driver setup. On properly working PC I mean.

Also, imo W10/2016 is very HDD IO demanding. So slower than 7/2k8.

And BSODs... well.. what do they say exactly?

executed 6gpu_mod (including Force, Modify Registry and Restart).

Run As admin? Were the registry mods applied?
You can backup registry in the mod and send me those files, I can check.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: December 07, 2016, 06:40:43 AM
For me it works  with Crimson 16.10.2 + 6gpu_mod ( win7 and win 8.1 )
...
The result unfortunately is the same:

This is odd.
What differences in the hardware do you both have?

Do you know any fix for getting the sixth GPU to work with the 16.11.5 driver version?

Windows Server 2016

Thanks for the hint. Do I have to take anything special into account?
Or is it just installing Windows Server 2016 GUI-Version, installing the newest AMD driver for the RX 480, running the 6xGPU Mod and then it should work?

Did you already test Windows Server 2016? Because I tried WinSrv2012R2 but I wasn't able to install any of the AMD drivers. It always failed due to the message "Application install: install package failure". I installed all the c++ redistributables, but couldn't get it working, therefore I switched to Win8.1.

Thanks

Yes I really tested it -

I've also tested 2012 and 2008 and 2003. Mining(OpenCL) works fine.
But I've never installed drivers via AMD installation manager/Catalyst. I always install drivers manually.
Hm. Tho I do remember that to get Catalyst working you need to do something in the registry.. enable hardware acceleration for the GPUs.

No.. nothing special ; ) Or you can try Win10. Basically the same, except all the crap is turned off in the Server.

8 x GPU under Windows is a lost cause.... but looking at your build, maybe relook at the PSU - suspect its cause of black screen....
1. Beyond 7 GPU, only Linux can make this happen. Some dude in Ethereum forum has shared this in detailed.
4. Windows Advanced Server with special drivers and Windows registry tweaking - 8 or more cards possible. Google "Deep Learning systems" that are Windows based.

Yes, yes. very advanced Windows Server ; )

How did you get 10 GPUs running? What motherboard are you using?

Thanks
990fxa ud3 rev4.
If I remember corrrectly - 4x7990 + 2x nvidia GPUs. Or connected via PCIe.. mm.. thingy.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: November 19, 2016, 10:10:09 AM
I have 8x280x on same rig and everything is fine. I think the problem are new graphics cards (Rx series), with old card (HD 7950 or R9 280X) my rig start normal.  8x 280x works perfectly on same windows 10, and same 16.9.2 driver.

How about 7x480 + 1x7900/280x?

but the 8x480 will not start

BSOD?
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7xGPU + Windows // modding AMD video driver is the answer on: October 28, 2016, 05:01:14 AM
Well.. normally AMD driver should not BSOD on Win10, it should just work..
On Win7 - the mod should be applied after all GPUs driver installation.
