61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why will BTC halving stimulate price growth? on: January 13, 2020, 08:33:42 AM
I predict that the halving won’t affect the price all that much. There are already so many bitcoin in the ecosystem, and the halving will just slow down the rate of new bitcoins.

Regulatory controls, new platforms supporting bitcoin and an increased rate of new users (and investors) will probably be the main driver of bitcoin price growth.
62  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next Bitcoin Halving will drive the price down... on: December 29, 2019, 05:04:10 AM
Mining equipment will likely double in processing speed at the same time in which bitcoin halves for mining, so I think mining equipment will still be profitable now and in the future.
63  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Smart Bitcoin Investments - the #1 source for Bitcoin investing knowledge on: December 29, 2019, 05:00:02 AM
We have added a guide for those who want to learn how to buy bitcoin with a debit card or credit card. This is a popular method of payment for many people who are just getting started. Buying bitcoin with debit card is fast, efficient and secure, though it will likely have higher fees than other methods like bank transfer. Before being able to buy bitcoin with debit card make sure you understand that you must get verified and will likely have to upload several types of identity documents.

Here are a few exchanges which will you let you do it:

  • CEX.IO
  • Coinbase
  • Coinmama
  • BitIt
  • Changelly
  • Luno
  • Bitstamp
  • BitPanda
  • Wirex

And many more...  Grin

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now YouTube is flagging Bitcoin and crypto-related videos? on: December 25, 2019, 02:48:03 AM
Bitcoin is free-market money much like YouTube is user-generated content. As long as you are providing quality content for your viewers there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

If you are promoting scams or even gambling websites there is a chance that YouTube will take you down purely because gambling, betting, etc is against YouTube TOS.

Focus on creating fun, quality content and you won't have anything to worry about - no matter the niche.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After years in this space...I am now a BTC/ETH maximalist (Both are important) on: December 20, 2019, 03:25:17 AM
I love Bitcoin and fully believe in it. I would like to see what Ethereum 2.0 has in store for us before I truly form an opinion. I think there is such great potential for dApps in financial services, legal services, and government services that Ethereum can't be ignored. I am excited to see how Ethereum will be used in the future  Grin
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: December 20, 2019, 03:10:46 AM
Both. Definitely both. To diversify your portfolio you will want to hold as many alternative assets as possible.

Plus, you can actually exchange between the two of them with a Vaultoro holding (learn more).

Some of these had me lol'ing.

Thanks for putting these jokes together. You're the man now, dawg.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Italy is now anti-cash and pro-Bitcoin? on: December 11, 2019, 10:14:45 PM
This sounds like very good news for the bitcoin community and the rest of the world. It will be interesting to see if the European Union favors bitcoin and other digital currencies over other cashless forms of money.
69  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why Crypto Exchanges Should Lower Their Fees and Profit Margins on: December 11, 2019, 12:09:37 AM
Lower fees =/= happier users

Not necessarily true. There are a lot of factors that go into making a cryptocurrency exchange successful such as branding, marketing, the # of trading pairs, the user interface, accessibility, verification and the country they are located in.

Every exchange is different so it is tough to say when or if they will lower their fees.

My suggestion is to do some research on what exchanges are out there (including their fees) and choose the best one for you.    Cheesy
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 10 Reasons Why Bitcoin Is Strong Today And Will Continue To Grow on: December 10, 2019, 11:57:07 PM
No one knows for sure (with any degree of certainty) what the future holds for bitcoin. Having said that, most will agree that the future is bright.

Here are 10 reasons why Bitcoin is strong today and will continue to grow:

1. Bitcoin introduced blockchain technology for the rest of the world to utilize.
2. Bitcoin itself is a protocol that will continually evolve.
3. Acceptance (Bitcoin is only 10 years old!)
4. Much of the developed world where payment systems that enable instantaneous person-to-person payment are not available, would love to adopt Bitcoin.
5. Volatility will minimize as the public at large becomes less sensitive to everything the media spews out and as more users adopt it.
6. As larger corporations start offering Bitcoin as a payment alternative, smaller companies waiting in the shadows will jump on the bandwagon.
7. The market capitalization of Bitcoin indicates that the currency is now too big to collapse (and is backed by the trust of its users).
8. The buying process of Bitcoin will be made much simpler than it is at present by exchanges, corporations, and developers.
9. Bitcoin will be featured regularly in the remittance world and by travelers and travel agencies alike.
10. Bitcoin is universal and globally recognized as a store of value.

Agree? Disagree? What your thoughts on the growth of bitcoin now and in the future?
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Week (Dec 22-28) on: December 10, 2019, 09:06:53 PM
This is definitely the time of the year when people love giving out gifts to other people. Bitcoin makes for a great gift and can be used to purchase other items like gift cards, travel, movie tickets, clothes and toys.

If you are thinking of a gift to give to a loved one I would recommend giving them a hardware wallet so they can keep their Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies secure.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nvidia Battles Shareholders in Lawsuit Over Crypto Miner Claims on: December 10, 2019, 02:10:22 AM
Chip making giant Nvidia has been making its case for why a court should throw out a lawsuit alleging it misled investors over cryptocurrency mining demand for its graphics cards.

https://www.coindesk.com/nvidia-battles-shareholders-in-lawsuit-over-crypto-miner-claims

GPU chips are needed not only for gaming, but also deep learning and big data science applications.

GPUs for mining are also another realistic application and although the mining rewards might be getting smaller for Bitcoin, there are a whole lot of other cryptocurrencies which could use GPU to mine. It's up to you if you want to establish yourself as a player in the mining game, but it is getting more expensive to make a profit with Bitcoin.

I would recommend just getting a dedicated ASIC miner from Bitmain if you want to try out mining at home.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so few women buying into Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2019, 02:07:17 AM
Just tell them you booked a flight + hotel to a far away exotic country with Bitcoin. You can do this on a number of sites including booking.com and Expedia. Then they will probably be interested in Bitcoin  Wink
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: please help me about bitcoin atm! SCAM or No on: December 10, 2019, 01:58:59 AM
Bitcoin ATMs are meant to be used in person. I would check out Coin ATM Radar to locate a Bitcoin ATM in your neighborhood.

I would not trust someone from another country to purchase Bitcoin from an ATM for you.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reinventing paper money in a cashless society on: December 10, 2019, 01:53:42 AM
I'm working on an idea and it might sound a bit far-fetched but it is a 'virtual currency' made to be stored offline much like a paper wallet. But I'm not storing any bitcoin private key. I'm creating what is called a ticket. Each ticket has a unique set of codes and the whole idea is that it must be easy for people to write down these codes so you can create your own set of money or complementary currency.  A long story short, my plan is to use Bitcoin as an "intrinsic value". Since the whole point of this project is mimicking physical cash in a cashless society  Shocked it can't be backed by fiat.

Another point to make is that the idea is that small or large communities can run their own server backing their 'community currency' and it doesn't have to be that powerful. It is not a decentralized solution, so it will be built on trust, but there is no way to trace or log transactions, just like cash.
I'm currently running in beta ( 52blocks.net ) with focus on testing it out and doing hand-to-hand transactions. But in near future I'll add some new features .
My current issue is how to give each ticket it's own value. I would like to hear your opinions on this project and what would be the best way of assigning value by using bitcoin.
As a community currency you don't need to trade your ticket for bitcoin for each transaction, but if you don't want to create your own set of cash, you can burn a ticket for a new one and also (in the future) collect it's value ..

Most people own hardware wallets, desktop wallets and mobile wallets or they keep their cryptocurrency in an exchange (not recommended). Paper wallets are effective if you know how to make one.

Here is an easy to use paper wallet generator: https://walletgenerator.net/
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: crypto earnings on: December 10, 2019, 01:49:06 AM
guys how to get around local tax laws and convert crypto earnings into legal fiat?

You can sign up for a platform like Paxful or LocalBitcoins and trade with other users.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy birthday, Bitcoin! on: December 10, 2019, 12:44:03 AM
So 10 years have gone by and there are ~28 million or some odd users of Bitcoin. Companies are releasing their own private blockchains and more investors are hopping aboard the cryptocurrency train. I'd say it's a job well done for Bitcoin and its community.  Grin

Who knows what the next 10 years might hold? I think governments will soon take notice of the success of Bitcoin and issue their own blockchain-backed currency as a result.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: France to launch their own cryptocurrency on: December 09, 2019, 05:41:13 AM
I'm sure there will be a day when a country or a major bank announces its own blockchain-backed cryptoasset. The blockchain as a technology is already so popular for database security that only time will tell =)

France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom are next to Malta which is essentially cryptocurrency island so I think we could see an "Euro Crypto" or something similar to it one day. I think it would actually reduce crime because everything asset and transaction is automatically tracked and accounted for. I am excited to see how our global economic system develops thanks to the invention of the blockchain.
79  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: (H) BTC 70 (W) Paypal 100 on: December 09, 2019, 05:34:48 AM
Check out Paxful or LocalBitcoins. There you can easily sell Bitcoin to other people using PayPal as a payment method with an escrow system.
80  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Launching a Marketplace - What to lookout for? on: December 09, 2019, 05:32:20 AM
Be sure to market your project well! I would utilize a signature campaign and maybe some SEO to put yourself in the public's eyes so you can grow even faster!

Thanks for creating a marketplace which accepts cryptocurrency. We need plenty more entrepreneurs just like you in the ecosystem.
