I'm also curious as to what mods to electric you have made as well as where did you get that shelving unit - it's nice and looks EXTREMELY sturdy!
\ The power electrical modifications are mentioned above. The shelf is just a cheap shelving unit from home depot.

What electrical modifications you have made to be able to run all those rigs?
So far I have added 4 20A breakers and run 2 rigs per 20A breaker

I use my basement as a heat sink. I pull air out of the room with all my rigs. The air travels through the rest of the basement and cools and then exhausts through the rig room.
The rigs were initially in the basement but there is no good way for me to exhaust in the basement. It was impossible to control the heat down there.

With all those rigs your going to need to pull out the hot air using a squirrel cage fan so that cooler intake air can replace it. Otherwise your just circulating the hot air in the room. It's also more efficient to pull hot air out than push cool air in.
When I say intake air I am talking about the air it is pulling from outside. I cant get any cooler air than what ambient is outside without AC. So I either need to figure out how to pass enough 100F air over them to cool them or start undervolting them to lower the heatload. The temperature in the room is able to maintain whatever the outside temp is leading me to believe maybe not enough air is passing over the GPU's.

I have made a few posting discussion cooling of mining rigs and have gotten many good responses from you guys. The progress I have made so far would not have been possible without the advice. I have made some great progress but am still fighting with temps. With an intake air temp of 38C or 100F I am not able to keep card temps around 70C as I am aiming for. Should I allow temps to go higher? Are those box fans not able to push enough air through the cards? Would I be better with the small high speed PC type fans? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FaYXDz23.jpg&t=663&c=tjp0VoS-2xf7wg) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FtXQxcmf.jpg&t=663&c=ZgUPxYw6EXHipQ) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FCy1RrTX.png&t=663&c=Na-ckWJLRp8e4A)

Like Philip said resale on HD's is great. HD's hold their value very well. also with 70TB he should be bringing in quite a bit more than $50 a month. 70TB should do $150-200 a month at least

I had iGPU set to the primary. When I disabled iGPU everything started working fine.

I cannot get this board to even POST with more than 3 cards installed. I have seen builds with 8-10 cards on this motherboard. Any suggestions of what may be causing my headaches here?
4G decoding is already enabled.

I broke rule 1 of card flashing and hoping maybe someone out there can bail me out. I neglected to take a backup of these cards before flashing them. I foolishly though all the cards I had used the same mem but a few of them were micron and are not happy with the hynix ROM. Anyone out there have these cards?

A shed was a though I had early on based on yun9999's build. It does not look like my HOE will allow that though. For now I am limited to what I can easily cool in the garage. Once I get to a return on that investment I may consider leasing a space somewhere and going bigger, Much bigger. OF course that said, assuming the profit margins still make it worthwhile a few months from now.

My limiting factor will likely be cooling long before anything else. The 6 month goal is to be at 10 rigs.
you can do good with 3 fan in front of the gpu and for exaust you can use a tube with radiators to direct the air outside, or what about an air conditioner even better no? just put the temperature to 20° and you are done It would take damn near a 5 TON AC unit just to cool the rigs and it would run all the time. That is not cost effective in any shape or form

I honestly havent done anythign with surge surpession yet. I will likely install something on the main panel for whole house surge suppression. MY main breaker panel is directly below where the miners sit in the basement. I have been running 2 outlets up there on a 20amp breaker to do 2 miners per breaker.

I believe the cylinder fan with a duct is probably the way to go for me. How do you guys determine the required size of a fan though?
|
|
|
Perhaps your rig power consumption is much lower than mine but by my math you are using about 39KW of power with just the miners.
|
|
|
yea that will work make sure you get at least a 2000 cfm model or more Why do you say 2000CFM? Is there some math you were able to do to determine that, Something i should make myself aware of? I have been struggling with fan sizing and how to to know what I need.

I am a bit confused. You mention running 8 rigs but have 260 cards. Are you running all 260 Cards on that 200AMP panel? Do you have more than 8 Rigs, or do you have all that hardware but cant run it yet?

Miners have been moved out to the garage. During the day with an ambient temp of 85F the garage has been reaching right about 100F. I have a carpet drying fan blowing air out underneath the cracked garage door but it doesnt seem like that will even begin to put a dent in the temps. Not ideal anyway as it is exhausting heat from near the floor. I was thinking of using one of those air extractor fans with a duct to draw hot air away from right above the miners and blow it out underneath the garage door. I feel like that would be better but perhaps still not enough. I currently have 4 machines out there but would ultimately like to have somewhere between 7 and 10. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FqW6pYPZ.jpg&t=663&c=go0xGh0cKiBlRw)

I don't know if there is actually a humidity issue or not. That is what I am wondering. At what point do you guys worry about it? or not at all?
If your mining room is 10 degrees F or more above ambient, you don't have to worry about humidity. In my case, even when it's raining outside and I have my largish Brisa Evap cooler running, I only see 40% or so RH at the most, and most of the time closer to 30% - but that's with somewhat over 15KW worth of mining gear running. What area are you in if you dont mined me asking? How well does the evap cooler work?
