61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: January 25, 2024, 10:31:17 AM
Quote
Guideline 1: Gamble no more than 1% of household income
Don’t bet more than 1% of your household income before tax per month. For example, someone with a household income of $70,000 before tax should gamble no more than $58 per month.

Recently I decided to risk only 1 percent of my gambling portfolio into each bet. This makes my bet risk free as I know that even if I lose the bet i will lose only 1% of my gambling money.

1% per month is too little I believe because knowing that you can spend more than that is the
problem if we are dealing with gamblers here but if not then indeed that we  can see  them spending that little
lol. but its good to hear that  you manage having this 1% in your gambling activities that most gamblers must
do as well because many of them turning addicted as they are not knowledgeable about what will happen and
how to control their budget and earnings.
It's not something we can say a small amount to spend on gambling per month. If you have the same income shown above, $58 per month is enough to make a gambler satisfied with playing. Unless you are someone who doesn't know how to do bankroll management. Without knowing about it, your certain budget every month on gambling will not be enough and probably make you add more funds to continue playing.

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will invest the money to buy the land in Bitcoin. on: December 08, 2023, 01:42:29 PM

Since I have like 11 thousand dollars right now, I want to invest this amount in Bitcoin instead of keeping it in the bank. I know about investing in bitcoins and I know that there are risks involved, I am investing in the potential to grow money but I want to invest in bitcoins with the understanding that my money may go down due to market volatility. I decided to withdraw the money from the bank at the beginning of the new year and plan to invest the money in bitcoins. Now that I can't buy land, I will definitely hold this investment for a long time so that I get good returns at the end of the long term and I can also accumulate some more money through employment.

At the time I planned it I felt I should have planned it earlier.
Buying Bitcoin using your savings would be a good decision you can make. Instead of saving it in the bank without any progress, invest it to earn profit. Don't let the bank make use of your money, you are only making the bank richer, it should be you who benefits from your money and not them. Accumulate Bitcoin before halving, and invest only the amount you can take risk.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: December 08, 2023, 01:20:00 PM
Bitcoin is a very useful thing to many people. It has provided very good opportunities, job opportunity, trading opportunity and lots more for many people to earn money for their essentials of life. Bitcoin halving is fast approaching, giving many people hope of investment, and making reasonable profit at the end. Yet in some countries it is completely illegal. What will you do if you are a fan of bitcoin but your country did not legalize cryptocurrency?
Bitcoin is completely illegal in the country I live in. Even though Bitcoin is illegal in my country, still I am using Bitcoin very well from my country. I've had no problems with the bitcoin I'm using so far. As Bitcoin is not legal in my country I am converting directly to my local currency using P2P. But always working with caution to keep myself safe. Since Bitcoin is illegal in my country, I think it's best to proceed with caution.
Do you mean you are using p2p in an exchange or p2p in real life? I was just wondering if ever you are using p2p in an exchange, how can you do that or how can you possibly do it and where. If it's p2p in real world, does that mean you look for people who are buying Bitcoin before you can withdraw your money?
<snip>

I would prefer to allow them. I don't view using them as unethical, and I don't care about reputation. But this kind of thing is far from the core mission of bitcointalk.org, and the costs far outweigh the benefits.
73  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Nakakabahalang balita mga kabayan. on: November 30, 2023, 02:06:13 PM
This is beyond our control already pero sana hind pa ito final and mag appeal is Binance since they are already working for their permits if I'm not mistaken, not sure lang kung natuloy ba ito or still on process. Sa ngayon we should take precaution and follow the instruction of SEC.

Super laking kawalan sa atin nito pero hopefully the local exchanges will step up and provide a more quality service para sa mga pinoy, good thing here is that hinde naman totally ban is Crypto dito sa pinas.
74  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: NEW NFT GAME - MonMon Land on: November 28, 2023, 12:35:54 PM

75  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can old generation cause the habit of gambling in young generation ? on: November 26, 2023, 11:49:41 PM
Old generation can raise gambling habit on young or current generation, if that old generation has achieved something in gambling. If persons grandparents or great grandparents simply gambled from time to time or did it frequently, then future generation wont have any impact because of that. But, if relatives have won in a lottery, got lucky and caught jackpot, or simply won a huge amount, then this might trigger future generation to start gambling. There is no such gene as «gambling». It is not passed on from generation to generation.

I agree with your opinion, that there are no genes or hereditary gamblers, but gambling is a habit of someone who has done it, whether for a long time or recently, and this behavior will make someone addicted because there may be two factors, namely hobby. as entertainment or at the same time making a profit so that you are addicted to continuing to do it.
Therefore, the older generation may have experienced what I said above, and this will trigger the younger generation to try gambling because they only saw or perhaps heard stories from the previous older generation.

there may be no hereditary gamblers, but if a person is continuously expose to gambling related activities, he may form a habit as well. but if they will see it on an occasional basis, like when your football or basketball team is playing, i don't think such young person will be a habitual gambler. they will more likely see it as a form of family entertainment or bonding activity among family members.
also, if a young person may see his older family got addicted in gambling, and got so much troubles, either he will follow the steps of that person or change his path not to have the same kind of life. this will depend on the person himself, it is by no means in the genes of the person to be a gambler.
It still depends on how the young generation would take the gambling activity they see or hear from the old generation. Even if the young generation only sees it occasionally, it doesn't mean they will only take gambling the same. They can either be more aggressive in gambling at an early age or not, the fact that they are exposed to gambling, it still has a  possibility for the young generation to get into gambling.
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: November 26, 2023, 11:27:07 PM
In my opinion making cash from gambling is not a good option and the statistical probability that you will win every game at every casino is very low. I think winning or losing every game is completely in your head, so your individual tricks are not there. However, we all have some kind of luck so we should strive for what is possible for us.

Yes, it is all about luck. So if you are thinking of making money from gambling, don't. You will only lose money and fall into debt, your property will be depleted. In short, you will ruin your life if this is how you think about gambling. But if you are naughty and really want to make money with gambling, buy a casino or build one.
Agreed, it is all about luck. In some way luck 90% and the learning about gambling is also must. There are people who are lucky to win big. Even after that they don't get fulfilled. This had ended in losing the big jackpots. So, gambling is all about luck, but we should have the learning and the money management to stop at the right time. If not the same could go against us in no time.
There are gambling games that also require skill and knowledge to increase the probability of winning. It's not all about luck, we can say that luck plays a big factor in gambling but if you have skill it can increase your chance of winning.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not share your bitcoin holdings with everyone on: November 26, 2023, 11:03:11 PM
I was listening to a news that one of the relatives of a person kidnapped him and asked him for bitcoin in ransom. This happened because that person showed his bitcoin holdings to many of his relatives and news spread among them that he has lot of money invested in crypto. Though, finally funds were recovered from that guy but he could have even lost his life in the whole scenario. Thus, you should be careful with disclosing about your bitcoin holdings to everyone.

I think this should only apply to crypto hodlings. Generally, it is a very risky thing to flaunt your wealth. Not everyone is happy with you and some will be looking for ways to sell you out to people who could harm you and try to take your wealth.

What is the point showing his entire family his portfolio? Was he trying to convince them to invest, or just for show off. Whatever his reasons are, my take from his experience is that one should be careful who you show sensitive things about you to.
It is because some people will get jealous of your great achievement in life and they start to think of making you down.
Indeed, we should be careful about whose and whom to tell our holding but much better to just tell no one aside from our husband/wife. In fact, we don't need to involve our life with others, and actually, no reason for them to know that we have XXX of Bitcoin because they really hate it. Sometime, they will tell us a scammer and some say that we are involved in illegal activities.
Most people actually. When it comes to money, there are people who don't want to see you successful in life or they want to be the one to have that success. Most people can think of anything bad to get your money or what you possess, and if they see an opportunity to take it.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helping family businesses and fulfilling dreams with Bitcoin. on: November 26, 2023, 11:56:43 AM
I congratulate you on your success. You have helped your family business and bought your new motorcycle. But you seem to think of it as a negative outcome for your investment. Be grateful, that you are able to buy what you bought. Don't regret your purchases, start again and buy Bitcoin the same way how you started.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: November 25, 2023, 02:16:45 PM
I’m a new member here, and I want to gamble on online casinos. I found some good trusted casinos. And I want to begin with a game with a low budget. First, I need your suggestions about the best games, slots. Live casino for a beginner.
Do you think Me starting gambling would effect me in my real life or make me addicted to gambling. What’s you suggestion and advices.
It depends on how you let your gambling activities affect your life. If you let your emotions and lose your self-control in gambling it will lead you to having more losses. Having losses will make you feel and always think of gambling, and that becomes the reason you get hooked on gambling without realizing you are already addicted to it.
