63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining eth tokens on: July 21, 2017, 10:45:46 PM
I'm just curious ,I understand that eth tokens ($bat $adx and tons of others) are being transferred usuing eth standard gas system..does that mean that it's impossible to mine eth tokens ? And for moving and confirming this tokens in the chain miners receive eth as a reward?
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers steal $32 Million Worth of Ethereum From 3 Multisig Wallets on: July 21, 2017, 10:41:33 PM
Nearly 153,000 units of cryptocurrency Ethereum worth about $32 million was stolen from three of the largest Ether’s multisig wallets that seem to have been hacked today, rattling the global cryptocurrencies community in one of the biggest security breach ever of the rival of Bitcoin.

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: July 21, 2017, 10:27:00 PM
Litecoin is officially dead, why you may ask?

What Litecoin used to offer:

ASIC Resistance
GPU Resistance
2.5minute blocktime

What Litecoin now offers:
2.5minute blocktime

Basically, Litecoin is worth less than Blackcoin, Netcoin, OompaLoompaCoin, heck, practically anycoin that has a faster blocktime and Any other feature... Litecoin offers absolutely nothing over what 99% of these alt coins offers, even the worst alt coin offer more innovative features than Litecoin. And to those litecoin bagholders, who say that "Litecoins age and adoption" is something it offers, that's not true..There are NO reputable stores Worldwide that accept Litecoin, not one.

Verdict: Litecoin is dead, it hasn't been updated in years, it's a practically abandoned coin. I'm gonna feel really sorry to all the litecoin bagholders that are still "HODLING" when Litecoin reaches $1, 50 cents, 10 cents etc.

You just love reading those years later
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth using gpu or cpu to mine litecoin? on: July 21, 2017, 09:57:40 PM
I thought ltc is a $btc alike coin and is only mined by CPU? Am I wrong ?  Why is btc not being mined on gpus 🤔 Confused
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is there a list of free altcoins for bitcoin holders? on: July 21, 2017, 09:54:28 PM
Is there any way to claim this coins from an exchange wallet?
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why doge still a thing on: July 21, 2017, 09:23:07 PM
But isn't this just a silly coin with a bunch of whales in there ?) I agree it seems kinda stable ,and all other you said about fees and transaction time ,but now there are dozens of better alternative coins with support and stuff.
How did Dode community appear ?in early days of bit coin and doge mems 💁🏼?

Honestly, when i got into cryptocurrency I started with Doge. You know, it was fun it was created for memes and community wasn't full of "mycurrencywillbegazilliondollarsandiwillberich" type of people. When something is less serious it gives you pleasure.Investors uses it because it's cheaper and faster but i don't think that it will ever get half of the popularity that Bitcoin got.

gazziliondollarsandwich lol 😅 Haha reading about history of doge I'm pretty sure it started out as a joke and then got shilled by adobe employe for a pun ,and it just took off 😁 Would love to hear from somebody from that era
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why doge still a thing on: July 21, 2017, 09:12:17 PM
Yes there is a bunch of whales but a lot of middle and lower class whales. It's a fun coin and it is one of the most popular in gambling sites in my experience. Doge is still alive because almost everyone has it and almost everyone gives it away. Who gives away other alts as often?
You probably right about gambling and stuff , and it's probably just really easy to implement if you work with bitcoin (since it's pretty much the same tech I think)
I'm gonna try to find something on history of doge coin and post it ,maybe somebody is interested too. I just know it's logo was on NASCAR car 😂
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do i get free coins? on: July 21, 2017, 09:07:25 PM
Welcome Timmy Cheesy

Here are the 5 Guiding Steps:

First, you want to build up your Bitcointalk Member Rank like the others have said to Jr. Member as most Bounty/Giveaway/Signature Campaigns require a Minimum Ranking + Post Quality History. (It will take about 1 month to achieve the ranking with Activity)

Second, sign up for a Twitter Account to claim Twitter Bounty rewards when Coins/ICO Giveaways offer them for their Campaigns, etc.

Third, apply to join a Signature Campaign here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0 or in the Services thread.

Fourth, apply to all Altcoin Giveaways/Freebies that you want that are currently on offer.

Fifth, it is ok to create alternative accounts (There is a free limit per IP, per Time Duration) BUT PLEASE adhere by the Signature Campaign or Giveaways "Stated Terms" If there is no rules stating that more than 1 account can participate then you are abiding by the "No Rules" and just have the upper hand compared to others.

+ DON'T USE THEM FOR EVIL or ELSE !

In the Unofficial Terms And Conditions of Bitcointalk https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 written by mprep it states this:
NOTE: This is meant to serve as a reference/educational/informational thread, NOT a rock solid list of rules.

18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

*Bonus Tip: If you are good at doing tech stuff, writing or translations then you can also claim Coin Bounties.

Thank you for informative post

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in a coin before a large split to increase ones earnings. on: July 21, 2017, 08:48:09 PM
Well, technically, there will be no split in Bitcoin. That's why the price surged around 600 USD to 2700 USD. What concerns me, is that ETH or other cryptos are not following the upside movement that much as BTC. The BTC has the momentum right now, I would say...

Well technically I think it's just not certain if the split will accure (or it was just a pile of bull from the beggin)

But if it happens I will not invers new money into btc ,but rather sell both chains probably and then try to reinvest in the "good one"
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Most ICO's are SCAM ? on: July 21, 2017, 08:26:59 PM
Do you know that most of the ICO's are scam .

Well if you don't here are some reasons behind it :-

1.) Most of these ICO's have no business model  Angry
2.) Most of these ICO's would never be profitable  Sad
3.) High Market cap for a project / ICO with no development , code or any past experiences  Tongue
4.) Most of them have a 1 year roadmap which means no vision  Huh
5.) 5 months of hard work and for that they get Millions in funding  Undecided
6.) Dumb people running the shitshow  Grin
7.) Behind the scenes it is all about Money

What makes an ICO legit ?
1.) Working product
2.) Practical Use case
3.) Legit Team
4.) Limited Funding ( Based upon Fair Market valuation )

Why are these days ICO raising so much money ?  Shocked
Answer :- People are dumb and greedy they want to invest in the next ETH , STRATIS , WINGS , EDG , IOTA , XEL but they do not understand that Stratis had less than 1000 contributors and most of these ICO's happened during bear season when most of the people were not active in the scene .

Should I invest in ICO's ?  Huh
Yes , some ICO's are legit and can be good investments such as MobileGo , Edgeless ,  Civic etc which can yield you good ROI in long term but then always due diligence is important .

Should I invest in ICO's with high marketcap ?  Roll Eyes
No , High marketcap means a lot of people have invested in an ICO seeking for quick buck or the ICO team has been dependent on marketing to get more investors which makes a lot of weak hands so when the marketcap is not able to sustain the demand and supply the price will likely go down . When the price goes down is the time to invest but not during the ICO .

I fomo like a noob during ICO as I don't want to miss it .  Cry
Well then you are a fuking sheep who want to buy in today and be a millionaire tomorrow well it does not work that way , you can always buy after it hits the exchange . Always have a good risk management system in place where you are able to manage your risk/reward ratio according to your portfolio .

Always :- Ask tough questions to the team and you will know the reality

Best Regards ,
VerthagOG

Everyone is trying to take advantage of the momentum right now. My strategy is the same for all investments whether cryptocurrency, stocks, and startups.

First and foremost:
  • Team
  • Traction
  • Idea / Concept

Team
First and foremost, I invest in people. The questions I ask are:
  • Are these individuals I can trust and share the same values with?
  • What experience does the team have in this space?

Traction
Traction enables me to understand someone's passion, hustle, and results over a period of time. The question I ask here is:
  • What traction has the team achieved over the past quarter, six months, etc?

Idea / Concept
It's never about the idea. It's always about the execution. Hence why this ranks lower than traction. The questions I ask are:
  • What problem does this solve?
  • Is this an idea that I'm passionate about and care offer value to?
  • Is the idea / concept aligned with my values?

The answers to all of these questions give me a good sense on whether or not I should invest.  While it is still possible to make money from momentum investing, I recommend everyone employing due diligence and ask the same questions above prior to making an investment.

Thank you for your post ,it's really helpful in understanding the market.
But don't you contradict yourself saying that you should invest in good projects like $MGO (5th biggest ico I think) and then saying don't invest in inflated cap ico's ?
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bip91, lockin by 90%. on: July 21, 2017, 08:17:22 PM
I think this explains it very well, https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6oksam/bip91_lockin_does_not_guarantee_segwit_will_be/

If I can quote a little bit of it, " Soft-forks are ultimately enforced by users, not miners, and right now practically no users are

running BIP-91 enforcing nodes like segsignal. " - Peter Todd

It's funny how Peter Todd seems so anti crypto currency and stuff ,but still he follows crypto world and just post about how $btc about to drop all the time 😂😂
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why doge still a thing on: July 21, 2017, 08:14:55 PM
What does DOGE coin means to you ? Why it's still being traded with no development ?)

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SONM or GNT on: July 21, 2017, 01:13:40 PM
these coins have nothing to do with one another, and can't therefore be compared

GNT is a prediction market while SOMN is a supercomputer

It's like comparing apples to oranges

When investing make sure to compare two coin from the same "industry", so to say

Compare ETH to IOTA to EOS to TEZOS (all these are "smart contract related")

Compare BTC to LTC to XRP to DASH etc. (these are focused specifically on "financial transactions")

Ahah you probably confusing $GNO and $GNT which are gnosis -2017 ico and old school daddy golem
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SONM or GNT on: July 21, 2017, 01:09:35 PM
Seems like a big somn promo post 😅 I sold mine because of market uncertnty and pre-Ico mostly ..its gonna get pushed to that pre ico price every time there is something scary going on with btc
