601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Active Team Members on: May 06, 2015, 12:13:28 PM
The Nem community is currently moving to https://muut.com/neweconomy/
The Ournem forum will be closing soon if everything goes well on Muut

Is everyone from telegram moving there too ?
Well i am completely against it  Undecided we should stick to ournem forum.

I'd be all for it if EVERYONE moved there. Just replacing the forum with the majority sticking to telegram anyway makes no sense.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think are the most important features in a coin? on: May 06, 2015, 11:19:49 AM
any feature that results in actual adoption outside of the cryptosphere. Everything else are bells and whistles most people won't use for a long time.

I just love how people either hate or love it. It's like there is almost no in between.

I have a question. Did poloniex.com get a stake from the Sustainability Fund or am I reading this transaction wrong?

no message attached it looks like... so it appears someone may have given the poloniex address, using it like a hot wallet, but did not give a message so it could have been sent into the abyss.. makoto will have to look into that one. maybe it can be recovered.

I'd think that the redeemer would have to hash it out with Poloniex support anyway. Not much makoto can do in that case.

how does the redeemer prove thats his stake? makoto may have to confirm to poloniex whos stake it is, other wise anyone can go to poloniex and try to claim it.

Well how is makoto supposed to confirm it ?
I guess the redeemer will have to provide makoto a poloniex account. Wow...he'll be delighted Cheesy

Try removing the db file from the nem folder and then start NIS again. It sounds like it got corrupted somehow.
It seems to be working now, blocks are updating.

Was to early with my happiness! I have 0 NEM in my wallet

Imported your private key ?
Using the right account ?

Headover to http://forum.ournem.com. This problem has been solved many times there.

Oh, it's ok now. Of course it had to sync starting from 0. Wallet is up to date. Many thanks for your help mate!  Smiley

Yes, just to be clear, when we sync a new chain, the balance will often say "0" as the chain is syncing, but then when it gets caught up to recent times, it will show the real balance.
Ok. Just one question: Is it necessary to activate "delegated harvesting"?

No it's not really necessary.

You seems to be brand new so it would prob be a good idea to checkout http://nem.io/faq.html and/or http://blog.nem.io/nem-tutorial-list/

Local NIS or Remote NIS?
I guess it's a local one. I installed it via the standalone procedure.
Error: Time synchronization not possible, NIS not available. (org.nem.ncc.time.synchronization.NccTimeSynchronizer synchronizeTime)
Can you describe what exactly you did ? How did you run the software ?
I launched it as usual via 2 terminal windows:
sh nix.runNcc.sh and sh nix.runNis.sh (in the other window)

Does "sh nix.runNis.sh" give you any errors?

It seems like your NIS isn't running.

I get this one:
Acquiring exclusive lock to lock file: /Users/xxx/nem/nis.lock (org.nem.deploy.CommonStarter tryAcquireLock)
2015-05-04 08:40:24.671 WARNING no certificate found for (file:/Users/xxx/Desktop/package/nis/nem-deploy-0.6.28-BETA.jar <no signer certificates>) (org.nem.core.metadata.CodeSourceFacade <init>)

and this one's in red:

Hey Patmast3r, any timeframe for sock clearing?

I have no more information than what has been announced.
Since the official appeal deadline has passed now I'm assuming things will speed up a bit but I can't know.

I don't understand why, every now and then, collective hysteria explodes in this discussion.

It's all about communication. The NEM-team should be better at this. There has to be one source (for example the twitter-account) where every update needs to be posted.
Every day some update, if there is a little one. If the team delivered 22 stakes there needs to be more than a simple line in the troll-box at the NEM-forum by makoto.
If you want that people stay with NEM, let them know what's happening - every day, every little update that might be interesting for some of us. For this I would recommend Twitter / Facebook.
That's not that hard to realize with a team of 70. It's all about communication and coordination!

It cam to my attention that not all 70 belong to the dev team. About 15 of them are transaltors and about the rest I have no idea but I'm sure that people leave and people join the team from time to time. The dev team is busy with a super secret white paper + some future features. <-- I got this info from Telegram.

To be honest I had already given up on Nem since it took more than a year to come out and I didn't believe that some day we wil get to see the end result. I was wrong about it and I do believe now that we have a strong and stable dev team so you have to be patient. It's impossible to update every single day and they didn't do that either before the launch. So don't worry they will update us when it is necessary.

Nem is here to stay for the long run.

Yes that should be true. I think the 70 are all people that are actively doing something in a coordinated manner. Core-devs are still "only" a handfull of people.

Please, remember: things take time to happen.

I do.
Because people like punkrock come with their half knowledge and start spreading bullshit information.

We could apply to Liberland our concept as well as to NEMtopia Smiley
I am sure from this something could turn out very powerful.

i agree

It was long envisioned that NEM could help out new communities/countries like Liberland.  The NEMself fund was set aside just like this.  And if Liberland goes well and we get the contract, this could just be a first step.

This is a unique opportunity! One of the NEM team (maybe paid patmaster) should go to the Liberland guy (maybe with community funds) and explain to him personally the advantages of NEM!

Or he could use a new technology called skype. Itīs a brand new shit and you can speak face to face via pc! Without traveling around the world. And the best thing is: ITīS FOR FREE.

 Roll Eyes Huh

Ohh, you invented skype  Huh Shocked Cheesy Wondering why you not recommended NEM encrpted messages...

You never heard about personal relations? So far as i know patmaster is german, and germany not should be very distand from liberland... That we should exploit. I guess patmaster is clever enough and has enough skills to convince the Liberland guy about NEM. If everything would be governed via Skype, businessman would no longer travel..

not paid, not german, not socially skilled and often not even clever.

Did i miss anything Smiley ?
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Altcoins Have The Highest Funding? Make Informed Decisions. on: May 03, 2015, 11:29:28 AM
It would prob make sense to convert it all to USD or EUR or whatever. BTC has gone down A LOT in the last year so you can't really compare most of the raised BTC values.

Yeah.  But the value of BTC raised changes day by day if listed in USD.  So I decided to list them in BTC unless fiat donations were made.

You could just list the USD price of  BTC at the time. That way it would be comparable. No need to update it to current prices.

How long was the NEM IPO/ICO and how much was BTC on the last day?

Don't know any exact numbers. I think it ran from January to March. It's also a little more annoying to calc as NEM accepted BTC and NXT.

617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Community, please tell the devs what features do you want in an altcoin on: May 03, 2015, 11:04:03 AM
It seems we have enough altcoins.

Since features can always be added later, I would like to see more people working to support existing altcoins.

So much this.

619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Technical writers needed + someone from dev team!! on: May 02, 2015, 06:03:48 PM
I'm planning on contacting different institutions about Nem but since I'm not good at writing I'm looking for some writers who can help me put some marketing text together.

Also it would help if I could get in touch wich someone from the dev team for any technical relates questions me or others might have.

There is an official marketing team. It prob makes sense to koordinate with them if you're seriously motivated.
Try contacting xtester.

Its not so much how big it is, its more of how built it is. We here measure time in crypto, you think by the time there are people living there in built housings and have malls and commerce has begun, that XEM will still exist? Dont get me wrong, i would love it, but we should now focus on other stuff like usability and wide distribution and marketing.

I just dont see winning this poll as a great marketing accomplishment...

I'm maybe silent lurker here, but i do my part behind the scenes...

The poll just gives exposure. I'm not even sure if this poll is official or whatever but if a country accepts a crypto as legal currency then that has legal implications and those are what I'm guessing people are after.
