601  Local / India / Re: CBDC/eRuppe wallet is currently being tested! on: November 10, 2023, 05:18:35 PM
I wonder which bank did it? SBI?

No, I got the invitation from Kotak, and every day they send me an SMS to use it and make a purchase. Okay, I understand that is a marketing message but why not tell me where to use it? As per my understanding from a few videos on YouTube, you can receive and send digital rupee to anyone having that wallet but what about using it at the store?

Okay here is what I found in ICICI bank official FAQs page about digital rupee where they mentioned

Where can Digital Rupee be used?

Customers can transfer the tokens to each other through VPA, Mobile No. and QR Code. Customers can pay merchants through the Digital Rupee QR Code.

Digital Rupee FAQ's

So my statment is right, we can only send the digital ruppe to wallet that accepts sigital rupee and it can't be send via UPI QR and other modes. But as you said I never seen anywhere like even in amazon like sites where we have options to pay with digital rupee.
602  Local / India / Re: India trained 3,000 police officials on crypto investigations in 2022–2023 on: November 10, 2023, 02:43:39 PM
.
Like cyber crime there should be a dedicated unit within it to handle such issues. I am unaware whether Indian local police has such a unit. I am aware that the NIA, CBI, RAW and IB has such dedicated unit. India needs such law enforcement units locally and they should be fully equipped and have proper knowledge to investigate such crimes.
Crypto scams should comes under cyber crime and that is how even currently works but the India lacks laws against cyber security/scams/threats like EU that is why EU doesn't allow any app to collect user data but in India there is no regulations against it but in few cases government banned such apps but a clear cut rules and regulations should be in practice.

Local police stations doesn't even have any knowledge even when you want to report something related to online shopping scams so expecting them to have any knowledge about crypto is too much. Grin
603  Local / India / India trained 3,000 police officials on crypto investigations in 2022–2023 on: November 10, 2023, 12:46:00 PM
The Narcotics Control Bureau and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre trained 141 officials and over 2,800 officers in the financial year 2022–2023.

The annual report from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revealed that officials from various cybercrime and police departments were trained in cryptocurrency forensics and investigation during the financial year 2022–2023.

The MHA highlighted that, under the Narcotics Control Bureau — India’s central law enforcement and intelligence agency — 141 officers were trained on the investigations of darknet and cryptocurrencies and other workshops related to digital footprints and gathering intelligence and evidence from open source and social media, to name a few.

Additionally, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre trained more than 2,800 cyber police officials in crypto forensics and investigations and other emerging technologies like anonymization networks and investigating misuse of mobile applications in cyberspace.

Source

This is really a great news for the Indian crypto community and a step forward in the cyber security, the numbers are negligible comparing the size population which exceeds 1.4 Billion still the government is taking their infant step now which will encourage people to report their scams to cyber cells and possibly we can track down the scammers.

South Africa vs Afghanistan, 42nd Match

Toss win: Afghanistan
Team win: South Africa
Best Batsmen:  Rassie van der Dussen
Best bowler: Keshav Maharaj

I guess this match is important for south Africa to prove that they can chase too so they have to bat second even if they won the toos because their name has been stamped as chokers when it comes to chasing and that is what has been the situation even in the current tournament.
605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 09, 2023, 03:10:28 PM
I was listening to the commentators after the post-match ceremony. They were saying that in case Pakistan bats first and make 300, then they need to bowl out England for around 50. On the other hand, if England bats first then they need to bowl out England for 50 runs and then chase down the target in 2.5 overs. So we are almost assured of a semi-final match between India and New Zealand. The other semi-final match is between South Africa and Australia. The knockout phase for sure is going to be very interesting.
Yes, the chances for Pakistan to qualify is quite unrealistic and its pretty sure that the semi final played between India vs NZ. Pakistan will be quite disappointed and that is the reason why it should be important to keep an eye on NRR after every match and it can hurt so much if they miss the knockout qualification just due to less NRR.

Okay the remaining matches has no spice at all and we have to wait long from now to see the knockout game.

4. Put the user on ignore and pretend that nothing is happening, which is the easiest option, but for me personally, it is also the worst because then nothing will change for sure.

Ignore the users who is having the only intention of trolling and for that ignore option is really helpful but to tackle spammers report to moderators should be the tool, and if the user is having this as habit then eventually they will be in the risk of getting temp banned at least for multiple deleted reports for spam as reason.
607  Local / India / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $150K in the next Bull Run? on: November 09, 2023, 10:19:03 AM
What do you think of the current market situation and where do you think the price of Bitcoin going next?

I don't think there will be any chances for Bitcoin ETF to be approved and that is also has been expressed on multiple forums but we can't know whether it will happen or not. Based on my assumption it will be rejected so there will be a price correction coming up and I feel it is also the reason why network is highly congested for the past few days.

New Zealand vs Sri Lanka, 41st Match

Toss win: Sri Lanka
Team win: New Zealand
Best Batsmen: Rachin Ravindra
Best bowler: Dilsan Madushanka

Kiwis just need to win this match to qualify because their NRR is better than Pakistan and the venue is suited for them but if there is rain interruption then the result can go either way. I really don't want to see India vs NZ in the semi finals. Lips sealed
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Nodes, wallet question. on: November 08, 2023, 07:50:31 PM
I believe nodes are already programmed to accept/confirm transactions based on some rules and if a transaction fails to meet those rules it won’t be passed on. And since we are dealing with something that was programmed by a human, is there a possibility that a node could malfunction or for an abnormality to occur and then accepts a transaction that does not meet those rules? If something like that happens is there a way for other node to detect such transaction and drop it from the chain?

Nodes doesn't confirm the transactions only miners can include and confirm the transaction, it only validates them and if there is a node that contains wrong data then it will be rejected by other nodes and that is what we call the decentralized network.

What's the differences between bitcoin core and bitcoin wallet? I always thought bitcoin core was a wallet, but in order to run it, you'd have to download the blockchain data, which would require some things, as stated in my previous thread, but while reading through "learnmeabitcoin" they kept using "bitcoin core" and "wallet" in a way that makes them look completely different. Or are they using the term "wallet" to refer to "SPV" in this context?

Bitcoin core is also a bitcoin wallet, but it can have the entire blockchain data and acts as a node too so if you want to participate in the decentralization of bitcoin network then you also can join by running a full node. SPV wallets are nothing but Simplified Payment Verification for example electrum which doesn't download the entire blockchain data to operate but connect with already existing peers which are considered as trustworthy so you can just install and access the wallet instantly.

.
What is the distinction between "private key, secret phrase, public key, and public address"? I tried researching it and still couldn't make sense of it, so I'd appreciate it if someone could explain it to me in a simpler way.
.

Secret Phrase or Seed Phrase - master key for all of your private keys which can be combination of 12/18/24 words. Using seed phrase you can generate all the private keys associated with that.

private key (imagine it as key to your safe) - It's a long, randomly generated string of numbers and letters.

Public Key ( your mobile number) - This is something you can share and others can contact you using this such as send their Bitcoins to your address.

Only you can access the bitcoin associated with it since it needs private keys to authorize it. And the hashed version of public key is public address.

This means the fee for CPFP is exceeding the transaction value of the transaction and after the paying fee the actual output of the TX will be zero.

What can I do here?

Wait for the fee to drop and for the last few days its been crazy and I guess it will go on for a week or two like what happened earliers with ordinals. Also you can expect the fee to drop considerably at the weekend.
611  Local / India / Re: CBDC/eRuppe wallet is currently being tested! on: November 08, 2023, 05:51:54 PM
Is anyone here using the Digital rupee wallet? I got an invitation from my bank and then followed the quick steps for registration. Completed it and got my wallet activated, but I still do not know how to use it. Can we use it at stores using the Phonepe or Paytm QR code? Or it can be only used to send and receive the digital rupee with others who have that kind of wallet. I am so confused as to what to do with this wallet, I haven't recharged it to avoid unnecessary issues. Need some advice related to it.

I wonder which bank did it? SBI?

Its same concept of crypto but centralized and controlled by government so yeah your assumption is correct it can be send and recieved only with ditital rupee wallet users and in future maybe all the UPI apps will introduce internal conversions so the digital rupee will be converted and send to other UPI but as of now its not available in any of the UPI apps.

When two powerful economies are indirectly in war against each other then they drag those countries that support them into the war. This is why I suspect another World war is in the making and it will be called WW-3
Yeah, I understand what you are saying is from financial perspective and I agree with you completely but imagine if there is a situation called WWIII then the chances of nuclear bombs to be used is high and if that is used there will be no humans exists to care about the money in my opinion and I don't think there will ever be WWIII and it will always be cold war situations and for that having bitcoin is important.

England vs Netherlands, 40th Match

Toss Win: England
Team win: Netherlands
Best Batsman: Scott Edwards
Best Bowler: Chris Woakes

Still England can qualify for the champion's trophy 2025 for that they need to win their last 2 matches and wait for other match results to see where they sit at the table when league matches end. Yesterday AFG almost won the match but one man burned their semi-final hopes and I expect NED to win this because Eng didn't even show any kind of sign, and it seems they forgot how to play cricket. Since we are speculating what happens if one of the Bitcoin ETF's get approved before the year ends. What happens when  a third world war starts as we know it is looming now. Why I talked about a war is because anytime when there is a global crisis Bitcoin gets pumped. The best example will be COVID 19 which I feel was the reason for Bitcoin to pump and create a new high.

What is happening now can cause a lot of people to invest in Bitcoin. It has happened in the past and it can happen before the year end. There is one thing that everyone believes and that is called security of someones money. Bitcoin provides that security without the influence of a third party.
AFAIK, SEC rejected all Bitcoin applications that is why we saw the stall in the price surge and network become congested still the ETF's may get accepted in other entities which will not be helpful at all in the long run for bitcoin, but it will become the catalyst to pump bitcoin's price.

At the time of crisis the asset prices will crash at first then it will grow beyond its previous value but WWIII, I don't know because if there is such an event then we can safely say that the extinction of human race began. Smiley

Mad respect for Big show, this guy actually did the impossible. It has to be the greatest ODI WC inning, didn't imagine this outcome when they were 7 down.

Someone should beat the shit out of Mujeeb and Skipper Shahidi, both dropped Maxwell and one catch was dolly af. Also, skipper Shahidi needs some serious guidance on his captaincy, one of the clueless captains.

Everyone will become clueless if someone is striking the ball in that way, literally no foot work, cramps, back spasm and just made it just with his hand and eye alone. Best ever innings, and he surpassed Kapil Dev's 1983 knock to be honest.

Mad max show, and happy to watch the entire innings. SA vs AUS will be playing semi's and clearly the number 6 can be loading in their mind now.

Australia vs Afghanistan, 39th Match

Toss win: Australia
Team win: Australia
Best Batsmen: Travis Head
Best bowler: Adam Zampa

I wish Afghanistan to beat Australia and came close to qualification being knockout game but its against AUS who lost few early matches but on their 5 winning streak which shows how stable their team after initial collapse, and they are likely to meet India in the final in my prediction, so I think AFG can't make it today like they did in their last 3 matches.
617  Local / India / Re: Discussing about Bitcoin to Friends and Relatives. on: November 06, 2023, 06:12:31 PM
It's not an easy task to convince people from India and other surroundings nations to believe in stuffs like Bitcoin or crypto in general.

I would categorize them into two type as follows:

1. Technology freak: They are very adaptive to any new technology let it be crypto or digital marketing or whatever is new in the industry and always try to be a part of new technology or innovative and want to be a market leader or expert in those domain, these are mostly friends and colleagues.

2. Old school negative people: This set of people will always question whatever you propose and try to proce that whatever you are pshating is a scam and they will even pursuade you to wuict about what you are explaining to them. Mostly some relatives.

It's easy to explain Bitcoin to the first type of people as you just have to explain them about the reason why Bitcoin emerged and the financial freedom it gives us. They themselves will do research and take it forward but the second set of people it's better not approach them.

I want to highlight this will applicable to so-called developed nations too. The great example can be Warren Buffett , is rich and know as most successful investor in this world, still he is not accepting bitcoin as real asset. So people are ignorant about all over the world.

I can tell why old school people from India behave like that because they used to the most conservative mindset because they passed the difficult era's like 1960's, 70's ,80's and so. And bitcoin is exact opposite of their investment principles because it's highly volatile asset so its understandable that new generation are adopting to it than elders.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 38th Match

Toss win: Sri Lanka
Team win: Sri Lanka
Best Batsmen: Sadeera Samarawickrama
Best bowler: Dilshan Madushanka

Both teams are fighting for their spot in 2025' Champions trophy, so still the players have some motivation to perform today. Sadly there are lot of questions about the air quality in this venue and also I read if the air quality index worsen the match can be forfeited too. BCCI made a lot of mistakes while choosing the venues, hope it won't be repeated.
619  Local / India / Re: ICC World Cup 2023 - India discussion on: November 05, 2023, 04:14:14 PM
The Indian team continues to remain unbeaten and this might be the first time that in a big tournament they are not getting an opponent worthy of defeating them. As expected  Pakistan teams luck prevails and they are sure shot to get into the semifinals. That is what my intuition states, they would meet the Indian team and they might win against India.

If that happens then again Australia would lift up the trophy. If Pakistan doesn't qualify then India will win the World Cup considering the amount of wins they have got in the league matches.

India seal their 1st spot in the table with this commanding win and the words are not going to enough for describing the performance of team India both with bat and ball.

Special achievement by Virat Kohli on his Bday and at the post match presentation he said there is no comparison between him and Sachin and this is such an honor for him to be at this level.

At knockout games, anything can happen, so let's not bring Jinx to our team by over praising them. Cheesy

620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 05, 2023, 12:43:24 PM
By collecting 17 runs in the last over, India managed to set a target of 327 runs in 50 overs. Good enough they did. But India had the opportunity to bat better. They scored 91 runs in the first 10 overs but India scored only 33 runs in the next 10 overs. And this is where India lags far behind. Also the controlled bowling by the South African bowlers in the last 15 overs is absolutely commendable. In the last 15 overs I expected India to collect at least 150. But India's collection was 107 runs in 15 overs. India scored around 7.1 runs per over. South Africa's bowling was very controlled today. If the Indian bowlers can bowl in such a controlled manner, they have a chance to win. But with South Africa's batting like we have seen in this World Cup, it looks like India are going to concede their first defeat.

SA haven't been good at chasing, also Indian bowlers are doing extremely well, I think we'll see India continuing their winning streak.

Also the Pitch condition is on slower side so hitting the ball doesn't seem to be very easy and the ball came on to bat very nicely in the intially overs and along with Rohit power hitting ability he made it looks easier but in reality it hasn't been easy even for Kohli who spent 120+ balls can't time the ball well at the death overs. Exciting chase will make the day more spicy but Indian bowlers know the condition well, and I feel even if pacers can't do then we have Kuldeep Yadav to wrap Proteas.

Congratulation to the Bday boy and he matched the milestone of ton along with God of cricket.,
