601  Other / Meta / Re: Why was the gambling risk warning removed? on: January 06, 2024, 06:00:30 AM
Unless theymos was experimenting with something I don't believe there's ever been a warning there other than in Investor-based games.

Or it is possible that Op was talking about the warning of some gambling thread where the thread creators are scammers and their flag has enough support which might be the reason for a red warning. But, I guess OP spends enough time on the forum to understand this is the warning for newbies and it disappears after a certain period.
I highly doubt that would be the case. OP must have been around for a considerable length of time to be able to decipher just what that is.
The closest to what would have been is as explained by Xal0lex on the Investor Based Games sub board of the gambling board.
It’s very easy to come by this confusion with the fact that, we’ve had a news field flagged up lately and upon seeing such update with the gambling board for the first time, one could easily note the change and assume it to be some new order to the board while forgetting to note where and how as explained.
You easily get to leave the sub board and give the attribute to the whole gambling board.

In any case, I was as well surprised by the development and I don’t see it to be a bad one just that, I’ve never had to encounter such warning in the gambling discussion or just gambling board as the investor based game sub board haven’t been a place I frequent.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption in Nigeria as a Problem of Economic Growth and Development on: January 05, 2024, 07:08:52 PM
I like the fact that your some worth grounded with the background, cultural and political heritage of Nigeria. We don’t get to deny the fact that, we’ve got corrupt leaders in this part of the world and we as Africans do try to do things in our best interest but it continues to be surprised and influenced by the rich and powerful from the developed world still.
Leaders trying to make a change and unify Africa and Africans being labeled as dictators with a puppet leader being prepared and put in place by the west to serve interests of the west.
Where after the neocolonialism, they still fashion colonialism in terms of business and unscaled trade relations. Not like the pol don’t know better but being I’ll fated, it becomes really difficult to escape the grasps of this long claws of the west.

Little wonder why some African nations lately have been or are going through military actions.

Believe me, I found it a bit uneasy having to read this as, it doesn’t define Nigeria politics by any means. Maybe the comparison don’t get to go but, your telling me Switzerland is any less corrupt than Nigerian?

Little wonder what it’s been referred in the popular phrase a Swiss Banker…. It’s always the one place where it all gets to and it’s made to go away. Accepting corrupt and laundered money across nations of the world because it adds to its economy, does that make it any less corrupt or rotten?
Are you out of your mind making a comparison between an impoverished, filthy, socially and politically broken and rotten country like Nigeria with Switzerland??
Nigeria being impoverished, are you serious right now or you’re about what’s being posted on the internet and the various chants you hear out there. Of course the standards of living might be poor for a large part of its population but, that’s largely due to corruption I agree but, not at all defines the wealth in the nation.

And prince scam?
Naaahhhh, Nigeria didn’t start swapping of cards, drugs, pimping and more of the vices you’ve hit out there. If only Nigeria was as half secured as the rest of the developed world, crime rate would have been zeroed upon. Nigeria is much more better than y’all imagine it to be and Nigerians are good people. Don’t be fooled by the few gullible people out there and what they preach.
603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 05, 2024, 06:48:12 PM
Truth be told majority of person actually gamble because of the possibility that they can earn some profits from the act and as we all know it , not all the time the end result is what we expected.

So I would like to know your own experience when making or taking risk in gambling under pressure.
Of course you gamble because you feel you can make profits off it, that’s where the fun is, the fact that you could actually profit or lose and not taking it for a profession or some sort of job or lifeline to run your life on. You don’t, it’s not a source of income and shouldn’t be viewed as such.

Well being pressured to gamble based on circumstances of the lose you’ve acquired or just don’t want to loose out on the opportunity to take part in a round is one means to lose in gambling. I say this out of personal experience because, it ignores reason and you just go in without making certain considerations to making a bet.

I see it to be a bad idea. Though gambling my be mainly pegged on luck, you’ve got to give it some look into the possibility and presiding outcomes/stats as well.
604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I could have won bigger. on: January 05, 2024, 06:27:06 PM
Now I am angry at my friend because he didn't keep to his words. Although I am still happy about the win, I wish he had given me back the $10. Then, I would have win bigger money.
You could have won bigger!
That’s the sort of idea or notion that dishes out loses yo gamblers.

Believe me, you won just what you deserve no question and you took a bet out of what will give you pease of mind except, your telling me your a huge stake gambler of which, $10 doesn’t make that mark really but, it’s worth something to kick the category.

You gambled on an unsure event and like every other bet or gamble, if you lost, you would have thanked your friend but now that you won, you’re kicking yourself. If you were sure that you would win, I don’t think not having to sell just the amount of coin equivalent yo $10 would have been an option. After all, you could have bought even $50 worth of it back should you have won.

So, you won and the best thing with you now is just yo enjoy your win.
605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: January 05, 2024, 05:58:34 PM
Liverpool can survive without these key players. After all Mohammed Salah is leaving for the AFCON but it doesn't mean he won't come back, he will be present in Anfield before any opponents will start tendering threats. Jurgen Klopp always know what to do to secure his territory, no invasion will be completed because Liverpool will continue to record streak winnings, they're leading team on the table, they will be ready to execute good positioning. Rumors holding on the Egypt international regarding Mohammed Salah moving to Saudi Pro League.
We shall see what happens this month, but Manchester City is already going to gain tabs on them, and you know what happens when Manchester City is as the top of the league, and it's the second half of the season.

To me, Salah will surely be missed by them, even if it's just for a month.
It’s one reason why some coaches are not particularly arms open to the ideas of having more African or Asian players on there team, just a few and that’s all but, it’s no doubt Mo. Salah and Son would be very well missed in their respective teams. These guys are the top scorer in their individual teams and have been the pivot about which the game is centered. Their absence in 3-4 games could come at a league threatening position.

Liverpool is top of the table and that’s with 5 points if I’m to match them with Manchester City. Manchester City have got a game to play for catch ups. E. Haaland is back in training although, his fitness to play remains under probability and Pep knows this be the time to get them points he needs to grasp the league and he would be out for it.

I must say, I like the fact that you can write and took quite some time to get this piece to a level that gives you great satisfaction but, would you mind fact chickening lost of this and drop the reference to the claims? I’m particularly interested in how my country is presented because, though I accept that there exists corrupt practices in various systems to our administration and lifestyle, I don’t feel we are worst or even way worst when compared to other parts of the would so, you might want to clear things up by fact checking and giving references.

Corruption in countries are in different forms.

1. Sex for job
2. Buying of job opportunities
3. Nepotism
4. Favouritism
5. Money Laundering or siphoning
6. Bribery.
These are norms in a society, it doesn’t make it any better but, it happens in our world everyday. Show me a nation that this is non existent and you’ll more than prove a point.

Quote
Among all the fifth item is the major cause of under elopement in Nigeria and other countries. Culture and tradition places a minor role to development in only rural communities where they resist certain development to preserve lands and other historical properties.

In the time past , several ideas have suggested solutions to the problem of underdevelopment in Nigeria. In 2014, the Nigerian Government suggested Restructuring political powers and administration.

So far all the suggestions have failed and obviously, there will not be changes until, the Chinese communist system of administration is adopted.

A public or political leader must not acquire certain properties and nut not be richer than a certain net worth, with a stipulation of death penalty ( death by hanging). This will certainly stop the excessive looting and siphoning of public funds.

What do you think?
There are obviously means to solving several issues and I can tell you, Africa could be more than willing to adopt but, are you familiar with the term “THE WEST”.
Perhaps you need to go over what these could do to the forward of the least African country. You seem like one that would be open to researches so, I’ll leave you to go see how that term has influenced most nations in a way to hamper growth.

609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 04, 2024, 10:51:06 PM
So, one question I want to ask is, if games were built to be played with money on casinos like we do now, with absolutely no chances of making money even when you win a game, would you still be spending money playing this games or betting on sports games?
I don’t really get you when you say, “without any chance of making money”

Are you implying, no chance of making money from the games you gamble upon but still, you have to stake with your money?
If that be the case then no! I mean, why do I have to lose money just to play and have no means of getting some reward when my prediction comes true. There isn’t much excitement in that. The excitement is the money, the reward, the bonus and so, we need that for it to be gambling.

Again, if not making money implies you not having a source of income,,,
I think most persons in my locality gamble without a source of income. Gambling gives hope to a common man, even though it continues to drain the good life out of gamblers at times. It always comes with promises and encourages you to be hopeful.
Many does win in the end but, a lot of others always end up broke. That’s why, you need to be responsible in gambling.
610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 04, 2024, 10:44:09 PM
Getting influenced by other people's winning is a simple way for someone that is a gambler to get aquatinted to gambling. It is good for us to adjust and never allow other people's results to trigger our desperation as gamblers.
One thing that gamblers need to note about these big wins of a fellow gambler is that, your prediction is inconsequential to the next person. Like, another party’s win has got nothing to do with your win, no influence at all except, to motivate you to take bold steps but even in doing so, your taking the step as a new stake and a complete different individual, playing in a whole new market.

I have come to find out that, most of my wins are not as a result of me having to play in an accumulation bet, nope. It’s mostly in a live bet where I can directly look at the dynamics of the game and make a prediction from a market in a single bet. It’s favorited me more than having to make outright predictions from just the fixtures.
611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 04, 2024, 10:36:05 PM
There are always effects to what one involves themselves with in life and gambling has such impact on the life of gamblers that, it is reserved for only matured persons and ones with a high level of discipline or self consciousness.

Unfortunately, with no proper means to measure and set aside and the urge to gamble with the hopes of big wins, one tends to ignore ethical rules to gambling.

I don’t doubt the OP when he states that, it does affect your performance at work, of course it would. You work to earn and when or most of the earned money especially, those that constitute what you can’t afford to lose is poured into gambling, you become unstable as you hope to make amends.
To revisit and find means to meet up with your budget, this leaves you troubled at work and a troubled mind can’t come up with good ideas.
612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: January 04, 2024, 10:28:39 PM
@Onyeeze, Liverpool is at the top of the English premier League and also Real Madrid is at the top of the Laliga, so both are in good form. Talking about history and the club with the high possibility of winning the Champions League, it is also Real Madrid.
Going further, Real Madrid is more influential than Liverpool and Real Madrid is regarded as the big boys club. When you also talk about offer and pay, Real Madrid will beat Liverpool to the later. So, there is no chance that Liverpool can beat Real Madrid in a race to buy any player, unless it is the person choice of the player
Talking about Real Madrid been in form, I would agree but Liverpool, not so much. Though they might be at the top of the EPL, their performance is below anything I would like to call a team in form. They aren’t particularly bad I can give them that and they’ve got the top of the table go show for it but, they are not consistent.
Am in form team needs to be consistent, winning games, getting points out of tough fixtures but, I was amazed Liverpool couldn’t manage it and beat Manchester United, didn’t even share points with them. Even though they had the upper hand all game.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One more filed smear campaign against Bitcoin on: January 04, 2024, 05:26:42 PM
When I as we I meant those who have panic sold their holding and it's sad people don't understand that just one event like spot ETF approval cannot define Bitcoin's future and people should stop believing in these smear campaigns because no one can predict much about crypto or Bitcoin.
One truth is, if you’ve been in this space for a couple of years and I don’t mean just having to invest in Bitcoin alone but to be involved in some news field or forum to discuss it’s mechanics and development, you would come to realize just how safe ot is and wouldn’t be moved by just any news or FUD that is being spread around.
The centralized nature of aspects to Bitcoin doesn’t define nothing of the currency. What they ought to realize first is that, Bitcoin is decentralized and having a decentralized system defined by centralized system is a big fraud and flaw. It just doesn’t make any sense. It’s always been a consensus of users and still would be.
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inverse Cramer Strikes Again on: January 04, 2024, 06:50:40 AM
Funny how a guy with so many failed predictions is so popular. That's probably why there are a lot of people who enjoy watching him.
It’s that simple,
He’s got the nerve to take his predictions to the mainstream, to the media and he’s bold enough to say it yet again and for a second/third time. He’s always out there saying things and people are out there listening. Even still, people have built a correlation to his prediction in an inverse relationship after a move towards what he had said.

We can’t always expect all that falls off his mouth to be false and even now, I don’t believe he has had he’s say on Bitcoin based on what he knows or out of his own complete thought on the innovation but, an outburst based on what’s been perceived and this time, he just might be right and buy himself some more listeners.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many individual holders of Bitcoin are there? on: January 04, 2024, 06:30:50 AM
Ask yourself. How many Bitcoin addresses do you have? I believe I have generated more than 100 Bitcoin addresses. And most of them are used, and a few are blanked. So how could we assume how many humans are Bitcoin holders? There is absolutely no way to predict or identify real human holders. A merchant uses a lot of addresses on the payment gateway, but it's a human or company. Any tool can't identify the address owner; hence, it's impossible to count how many humans are holding Bitcoin.
If by any means any and every address could be traced right back to an individual, then that becomes a problem for Bitcoin as, some vital part of the development is its anonymity. You either get to lose that willing by tying yourself and identity to some address or not.
For most individuals, they change address just as you want because it’s that easy. Most times, you can generate several addresses on same wallet or using several wallets without having any link to show that it’s managed by a single individual or entity.

@OP, you just wouldn’t get that answer, find or develop a tool that can accurately do that. Very few and well funded exchanges have been able to archive some sort of linkage and that is mainly due to reports on an abuse from an address and consequently, bookmarking the address with all related transactions on it using its platform and the next is, signed addresses and addresses used per user on signature campaigns.

It doesn’t speak volume on the lost of addresses used by on forum users and off for users.
By the way @OP, the information you seek has got little to no good to do in the cryptospace.
616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The general public still doesn't understand Bitcoin is still growing on: January 04, 2024, 06:19:03 AM
At the bookstore today I saw some book about the rise and fall of crypto. ~~

How do we educate people that Bitcoin is a continuously growing global currency that is still in its early staged and each big boom and crash is just its early growing pains?
People should draw much clearer lines between the term "crypto" or cryptocurrencies and "bitcoin".

The book you described seems crazy to talk about a fall just because the FTX thing. But we know that "crypto" that includes altcoins has had lots of falls.
Not just clear lines about Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and cryptos but, they need to do their research to understand well enough that there are nominations, aspects to the functionality of every development.
How are they getting to bring an aspect (FTX), an exchange to represent a whole and they talk about it as such! An exchange that even when cut off, it could do nothing to the whole system but rather teach a lesson on how irrelevant or how Bitcoin or the cryptocurrency idea was first and foremost supposedly a p2p currency.

I guess the writer actually did bait the public with that as, some ignorant nerd who would rather see Bitcoin fail and have a good laugh would be eager to get in on the story rather than read a much more better written book on cryptography.
617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What we all learnt this 2023 on: January 04, 2024, 06:09:51 AM
I know everyone has their decision and perspectives regarding to this but from my knowledge and complaints I've seen on this forum and other sources, most persons ends up with negative experiences from this.
Trading is risky and investment must be done wisely.
I recommend that you get some knowledge so you could do some analysis for yourself and check those signals before using them. This would help you have an idea of the risk your getting into.
Always do a good background check up before investing in any project.
You know, upon first having to read that, I missed the from my knowledge part. I was really focused on the part where you said complaints and that felt like a page taken out of popular opinion except, you are saying the same thing then, I would have said, get your own experience with it if need be to have a proper perspective and then, you can talk about it even better.
One thing is for sure though, being such a dependent is one way to discourage yourself and not believing in the things you can do as per being creative with analysis, indicators and even them signals.

Quote
👉 This advice might seem a little controversial, but I think it's helpful. Stop over diversification, what I call over diversification is putting your money in every crypto project that comes your way.
I think it's far better to have few crypto that you are constantly, than investing violently in so many project.
Can people really do that?
I mean, that would be bringing gambling in almost all its attributes to investing. While it might be looked at as throwing away pennies, the penny could be accumulated to make a dollar. You be sure on your terms that, it’s going to boom but, even on your terms, 99% will still be flawed.
618  Economy / Economics / Re: Sometimes tips the securities at the mall or local shops on: January 02, 2024, 11:23:45 PM
Tips might be some means to encourage goood practices in a work pace but, it’s based on the person getting the top either ways. In one way, you could easily divert there attention to be ultimately focused on the tip and you would find a set of staff being nice for no just reason and even deviate from the main job at hand.
Perhaps having a general tip box would be a way to go but, I don’t really like the idea of having to patronize the security unit. It’s supposed to be a focal point in an organization and tips might very much shift their focus. Perhaps you could tip them through the management of need be.
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Must you lose before you gain in Bitcoin investment? on: January 01, 2024, 10:50:51 PM
My biggest fear is losing my hard earn to something as volatile, vulnerable and uncertain as btc. What's the possibility you invest without losing. Is it guaranteed in this kinda market?
I think the word guarantee shouldn’t really be used when talking about investment and investment choices because, business or investments is a profit/lose space and as such, it’s only natural that at some point, either of the possible resultant on a decision would come to play.
You must learn to accept lose because, it would come. Be it Bitcoin or some other field of investment, you would lose at some point but, what makes the most importance is that, your wins should be more than your loses.
One who is scared of loses is one who isn’t ready to make money. Your phobia for loses might save you some risk that could have ended in loses but, it would also make you lose opportunities that could have benefited you as well.
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What course can one study in university that can build potential in bitcoin? on: January 01, 2024, 09:45:18 PM
Apparently, Bitcoin isn’t some course you get to study in universities, at least not yet and I don’t see how it would come to be that because, it’s simply money or a currency, it’s utilization and trading. You wouldn’t get to see that, especially in the face of rejection government of our world as it is.

The closest you could get to studying some course with some relativism to Bitcoin would be you having to take a course in blockchain technology. Blockchain isn’t Bitcoin specific but has connections on how to store ledger in a rather open and verifiable manner without manipulations.

You could as well try some coding corses. It would bring you a lot closer to what is obtainable in our world today.
