Hey ppl !

Is anyone familiar with the Cryptonote address-generating rules?

Can someone create an address with as many X's possible and a valid checksum?

You can check source code of http://xdnwallet.com/ page to understand an address generation process better. There we have a pure JavaScrypt XDN address generation.

Please, use http://darknotetalk.org to ask questions aboud DarkNote - there is a Questions and Answers section.

No connection to remote darkNoted. Any ideas why?

After a recent GUI update we have seen an unbelievable number of connections to remote GUI blockchain node. That small update caused a massive interest in DarkNote GUI => too many connections on a few of remote nodes.
We suggest all users to initiate their own local blockchains for XDN strengthen.
In near time we will introduce more XDN nodes.

How do we connect to our local blockchain? I have downloaded the blockchain from http://darknote.cc/ to my 0.99.1 f4wallet-win64 folder
  • I then ran darknote GUI wallet, waited until sync, disconnected and reconnected.
  • No connection.
I have also just tried using darknoted v1.0.2.782 to no avail. As soon as it is executed, it closes.

Thank you!

edit:   I am still able to use ducknoted and wallet v0.8.9.65(0.1-unknown) with data in C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\ducknote
ps. The latest GUI works great! I am just having troubles setting up the a node and running the latest ducknoted.

Thank you for your question. We are working on detailed guides and community website with wiki.
In general to run Local blockchain you should do:

1. Run .darnoted (darknoted.exe) - from simplewallet distribution chrome://mega/content/secure.html#!YVp1yQ4a!1RmjYhBd9ksRBhfU9xU-xUd8jm1OO50rvHvuQdrPOh0
2. Wait until full sync (you can download blockchain as you did to make sync faster.)
3. Run GUI and initiate connection with local darknoted, instead of remote, via Connections-> connect to local darknoted.
4. That is it! By connecting to your local darknoted you became absolutely independent in terms of node stability, since you will run your own node and you will be the only one who is using it (until you decide to share your node). Also you will make XDN network stronger by spreading the decentralization.

Thanks for all the good work!

This is definitely the best cryptonote out there. Too bad the trading volume is relatively low.
The popularity of XDN does not match its superiority.

There is a long way ahead, we are at the very beginning, truly, i would say we are on PoW stage. That is it. Hybrid PoW/PoS  - completely different circumstances, will be the next stage. Messaging and initial GUI was a middle stage, we implemented new cryptography, absolutely stunning approach of "information transportation" across blockchain. Messages in the form in which they are presented now is only a draft for the future DarkNote messaging functionality, it will be an instant messaging across all platforms with lots of side features and cool UI.

popularity comes with knowledge, we are proud of our work and the way we act. being international  dev team we suggest all users and XDN fans to contribute, but please, we don`t want you to promote DarkNote, we want you to share an information about the work that was done and about the work that will be done.

In the words of OK Go:

i would say everything can change upside down in every moment of time, being an optimist.

After 1 year, Monero is going stronger than ever (how many of the coins from that period are still even alive with more than 2 devs paying weekly attention? 1%?)

As i understand you are the main XMR holder and investor, Sir,so why should you make untrue or incorrect statements about  your investment asset?

Truly Monero is not in good shape now and certainly not stronger than ever.

Strength here is difficulty and price.

1. XMR difficulty After the Jan, 2015 frequently Bellow 1000M, while Before the Jan, 2015 it was frequently above 1000M.
2. XMR price was on its Top for the whole last summer. Now we can see only 1/3 of its Average last summer prices.

So, No, sorry, but Monero is at least much weaker than the whole period of last summer.

Feeling a little off the track now Sad

1. The project seems to be stalled. Back in september fluffy said 6 weeks is the maximum time needed to get the db out. I am yet to find how to use it, im sure half of the people here are only able to use monero because of mymonero.

Why just not to fork "db out" feature from XDN? Are you too proud or too ignorant? rhetorical question.

The Way Open-Source Development Works. Goodbye!

Just a sarcasm. sorry, if it hurts, for all Monero lovers, good luck with development, developers.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DASH/XDN/XMR/SDC] Comparison between the most known anonymous coins (MUST READ) on: April 05, 2015, 08:32:12 AM
We are working on BIG update. As you may know, we like "quantum leaps" like we did with duck->dark.
Meanwhile PoS/PoW hybrid, Aliases and multisignutares, and some other "messaging" functions will upside down all you know before about cryptos. You just need to wait, and we just want to keep a little mystery, one reason is because we do not want to interrupt the dev process because of unnecessary excitement and anticipation caused by the inevitable future success of DarkNote.

Hi guys,
Me, mr. Xian_XDN and one of my friends (mr. Hall who hasn't any bitcointalk account yet, but is available via email: rhall.xdn@gmail.com) decided to launch a new [community-based] website for all the DarkNote people.

We want to gather as much information about DarkNote as possible. It should be done to give everyone (especially to newbie users) the clear view of XDN, its technical basis, its economy and features and ways to use. We had chosen DarkNote.world as a best domain name for it. It symbolize that XDN is made for the world and unite all of us.

Now we are working on design and concept. It will be a website with 2 cool modes: duckNote mode (yellow one) and DarkNote mode (black one). Below you can see what is already done. If you have any recommendations and ideas how to make it better, please, don't hesitate to contact us!

Also, we need some help with a content and texts. We've already finished Getting Started section, DarkNote About/History Section, DarkNote services List and List of social links and contacts. We work on F.A.Q. section now. Here's the list of the questions: http://pastebin.com/P873B6X4. Do we need to add anything there? Could you help us to answer those questions?

Also we will be glad to receive:
- your reviews of XDN services, pools and exchanges (for DarkNote services section)
- your thoughts about DarkNote, its development and future
- your DarkNote-related art, pics, memes and so on. Everything will be added to Community Blog section!

We highly appreciate your help, so we will make a special gratitude section with names/nicknames of all XDN people.

And bounce: we plan to make some cool XDN T-shirts. We will present it to all active guys Cool

If you ready to help:
- PM me or mr. Xian_XDN
or
- Write an email to xian86wei@gmail.com or rhall.xdn@gmail.com
or
- contact us via Xian facebook page or XDN people twitter

Website will be launched April 2015.

This team has a full support of all DarkNote devs. @Xian_XDN is a part of XDN media team.

Please check this , if it applies we should address it in our next update , as well …
Unlinkability Issue of Cryptonotes based forks allegedly solved by Boolberry :
http://www.slideshare.net/boolberry/boolberry-solves-cryptonoteflaws-37055246

This one is studied by XDN devs long before, and yes, there are some useful stuff in  Boolberry development, although Duck -DarkNote has some blockchain minimizing features by its nature, like XDN reward structure, that causes the lack of useless (not used in mixes) "blockchain dust" (no other CN coin has this). I will explain:

Average XDN reward after a few month = 150 XDN. Average "generation transaction" in DarkNote has only 2 outputs: 100 and 50.
The size of that transaction is minimal, compared to ANY other CN coin. This was made because of long term thinking, while XDN development.

Lets compare XDN with XMR and BBR: There is no average "generation transaction size" in XMR and BBR,  but common output count in is >4.

Lets compare 3 blocks on height 87999. (on that height XDN has simmilar to minimum generation transaction output structure with 2 outputs)

1. XDN
http://chainradar.com/xdn/transaction/a0f845da7799181015b4c7a2ece74adc6fa4db8e2dc40e6cd4a60bb865215bba
Outputs:  2
Size:    176 bytes

2.XMR
http://chainradar.com/xmr/transaction/72d46865c0e1cbbacf969f8621b48b415cc4fcb6f3eac2a471b209401a3130ac
Outputs:  4
Size:    249 bytes

3. BBR
http://chainradar.com/bbr/transaction/5a62ea385b35e24a016a829ee14821020dae0f4835ec4cd3cbfe3bdbc5a6738c
Outputs:  7
Size:    346 bytes

Lower is better:
176 (XDN) vs 249 (XMR) vs 346 (BBR)
As you can see average BBR generation transaction is almost 2 times larger than XDN.

Other thing about Boolberry -
As we think, BBR can not be taken seriously, because they refused the CPU-efficient mining nature, means they refused the whole idea of a fair, decentrilized Proof-of-work, no offense, but the whole way of BBR is wrong.

P.S. Updates we are working on will lead to a new level of XDN, be preparred.

"Smart Libertarian pure PoW emission with future PoW/PoS Hybrid"

Sorry if this has been asked before, and not looking for a timeline, just curious if there are any specifics about this idea? Sounds *very* interesting.

Happy to answer.
First of all: everything about XDN Hybrid PoW/PoS is a secret.

But i can tell you the idea:

1. Main coin units amount is in circulation, pretty soon we will celebrate XDN 1 year birthday.
2. Soon XDN reward will reach 150 XDN per 1 block.
3. After some time an additional PoS scheme will be added to the current PoW scheme. Miners will have their rewards, as always, and XDN owners will have an ability to have an interest for holding their DarkNotes.

Should I be able to generate multiple addresses? Option is grayed out in my wallet - 0.99 GUI.

No with the current version of XDN Client you can generate only one address.
The main reason is - you actually need only one address, because of XDN privacy protection.
E.G. In case of Bitcoin you should use multiple addresses to save your privacy, DarkNote is designed to save you privacy by default.
But later we will introduce 1.multiple addresses generation 2. Multisignatures.

Shouldn't they be able to generate multiple wallets using simplewallet.exe. This would allow them to import any wallet at anytime. Technically it should be able to be done. I only say technically because I haven't had the need to do

Oh, there is the way to generate multiple wallets (private keys) with XDN GUI client.
1. Generate your first XDN address with generate button.
2. Find you wallet in your DarkNote folder - it should look like darknote.wallet. Copy it and save it. OR you can just backup your wallet via GUI
3. Rename or delete or move your generated darknote.wallet file.
4. After that you can generate new wallet with generate button. You can generate unlimited number of wallets.

Any way if you need a quick, easy and user friendly way to generate good private key/address you can use DarkNote Brain wallet generator
http://xdnwallet.com/

xdnwallet.com wallet generator is fully compatible with GUI client import.
