601  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Their is nothing too special about the future, INVEST NOW. on: January 03, 2024, 09:48:58 AM
I'm writing this to those people that are very good at saying "i will buy bitcoin next year, i will be more active in the forum from next year, i will do this and I will do that.

The next year is finally here oh! How e de be? Abi make we wait for another next year?

One thing about us is that we tend to enjoy shifting everything to the future as if their is something too special about the future. If you cant start doing it now, chances are that you wouldn't be able to do it in the next ten years. The key is to buy even if it is the least amount of Satoshi so it would be that you are working on increasing the amount your are accumulating and not still thinking on making your first purchase.

it's already 3rd of January and like play like play e go shock you how far the year go fly and how so many things fit change within a twinkle of an eye.

My friend de always say its better to have a certificate you do not need than being in need of a certificate you do not have.

buy and hodl BTC now so you won't speak the motivation talk of " if like say I been buy am that time I for be big boy by now"
602  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The effects of NEPOTISM (MAN KNOW MAN) in Nigeria on: January 03, 2024, 09:29:24 AM
It has become a part of us to always favour those related to us more than any other person when we are in the position of power and if you are in the position to employ people and you refuse putting your people first, you would be termed foolish.

The phrase you want to please others and displease yourself is not strange to us because it was assumed that former president goodluck Jonathan was not considering his people first while making all his policies and could not even influence a meaningful project to his home town.

For me, their is always a time when the concept of man know man should be applied because everybody want to employ someone that will give them peace of mind and that will be loyal to them but I guess the emphasis should be on how best we can regulate it such that the best brain are not left stranded because some of them are not affiliated with any rich individual.

Their was a time I sort for admission in a vocational center that was situated in a community, they made it that after everyone writes the entrance examination, regardless of what you'll score, the ratio of those getting admired would be 70% from the host community, 20% from the state and the remaining 10% can come from outside state. Although the ratio has a huge gap, if it was moderated, it would be okay because after considering the indigen, others would still have the benefit of being a part of the programme but the negative part would still be that some of the qualified persons that are not indigenous people would miss out on the admission.

What I'm saying in essence is that man no man will still exist but let's understand that the best brains are also their in the society and we need to also use that as a serious index when carrying out any employment process.

One funny thing here is that no one will want to employ a relative that is incompetent in his private firm over an outsider that can burst the business positively.

Na most for public or government firms this man no man something de serious and na for position when no go affect the company like that na him de fit use this method take person if not how you wan go take person when no sabi shit to run your business when you start with your hard earned money just because he his your relative. you reason am na
603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin - Contentment / Addiction on: January 03, 2024, 08:35:58 AM
At what degree of Bitcoin accumulation is one said to be contented, if keep wanting can it be termed addiction

Becoming a Bitcoin owner is one of the sweetest achievements a person will want.
In other to purchase this Bitcoin it is either we deploy strategies in getting it, might be by Dcaing or buying wholesomely from the DIP.

I want to know if their is any point at which a person can say I have reach and get contented in owning Bitcoin? A point where the person lacks Contentment and keep on pressing to acquire more Bitcoin is It said as being addicted?
i don't think that the word"addiction" has a place in anything call investment. Addiction is majorly applicable in cases where you are uncontrollably performing an act that has the tendency of ruing you in the future.

The amount of Bitcoin you açcumilate is basically dependent on your reserve funds and Its just like saving a particular portion of your money in the first bank, would you term thatt to be addicive?
604  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Dangers of the internet on: January 03, 2024, 07:05:24 AM
e just dey scary how 99% of the world's data dey on the internet. Even our incognito(private browsing) data sef dey on the internet with our digital fingerprints. Me and person being dey discuss how easy e dey to actually track anybody for this earth as long as say the person dn active for internet before. if no be say some laws dey cover how this big tech company dey take collect our data, some of us wey think say we dey untracable for dn go jail sef. Everything about us actually dey internet as of now, even your "view once" for whatsapp sef. Infact any things wey you thinks say you delete still dey there only say you no get access to them again. Just dey careful of things wey you dey post for internet.
is their anything like privacy on the internet? Just do your thing and live your life without being bothered on what on what your data is being used for because the reality is that your data is no safe and the exploitation is increasing at an alarming rate with no one saying anything about it or planning how to stop or reduce it.

If we start to talk about the the rate of intrusion into our privacy, you will even get tired of using your phone. Their are some that believe that your camera takes regular picture of you on a regular bases while you're using your phone, are you talking about the recommendation you get as Facebook ad that comes from the private conversation you had with someone in your chat? I have never considered my data safe no matter if I deleted it or not.

605  Economy / Economics / Re: And the most worthless fiat currency of 2023 was: The Iranian Rial! on: January 03, 2024, 06:52:19 AM
The morals of the story:
- no matter how much value you think the dollar is losing, there is something doing that 1 million times worse
true! Their are so many countries praying that the price of dollar should even loose more value because their currency has a value that's real shit and is literally 0.00005 of a dollar. Lucky for my country, it's value has always been between the range of 0.01:1 dollar which makes people that earn in dollar to always wish that the price of dollar would go high while the ones that are into importation and praying for the price of dollar to come down.

Unlike the volatile nature of btc that brings joy to all holders ones it value goes up, it's not same with the dollar because let's assume a dollar is around 10,000 of your local currency, would you pray for your currency to gain value it for dollar to gain value if you're earning in dollar?
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Internet adoption. Bill Gates was trolled about Internet in 1995 on: January 03, 2024, 06:34:34 AM
It's more of how much Bill Gate believed in the fact that the internet would become a reality and that it would have a global audience using it with time regardless of whatever opposition or trolling he received from the media. Now that the internet has become a must use for all thee media platform, would they refuse using it because they trolled it?

Same Is what is happening with bitcoin adoption around the globe. The fact that so many persons and nations have become so used to the fiat currency and the general banking system, they would feel that its not going to be a reality but with the increasing number of nations already accepting bitcoin in their country, it might only take few giant nations to accept it and some key persons to see the positive side of it and bring it to the audience and in no time it would become a global reality.
607  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to avoid virtual bank apps hack when phone got stolen or misplaced on: January 02, 2024, 07:48:16 AM
When peso phone lost, wetin hackers d after na your sim card, no be your phone cos d know sae everly your phone go d locked, and for peso to get access to am na to flash am. So wetin dem go actually need na your sim card. Na through that your sim card dem go get access to your bank money.

Wetin the hackers go now do since they are in custody of your sim card, na to get to find out the banks wey d connected to your sim card. Ones dem don find out, na to start to d create mobile apps accounts for the banks connected to your sim card, putting in your BVN and account details into the mobile app downloaded for you. If you already don get mobile app for your phone, dem go request for forgetting password and the rest with your sim card. With that dem go receive the reset password and log in to your account to pull your money out to their Opay account wey no d link to BVN.

This is how I think sae the hackers hacked into peoples account with their lost phone through their sim card. Na why em be sae once peso phone lost na to find means to block em sim card asap before any other thing.

For peso to avoid this kasala for hackers hand toward em account, na to put em sim card for pin lock as you don suggest but make em make sure sae em get em sim pack within em reach to avoid changing phone or losing phone in the future.

mehn, to be honest, a lot of us have been careless with our security because we've not had a first-hand experience where our gadget was stolen and all our funds taken from us within a twinkle of an eye.

Even if you've lost your sim pack and might be afraid that if your sim is blocked, you might not have access to you puck code, understand that it's cheaper to unlock your sim from a service providers office than recovering a stolen fund from the bank. From the record and if I'm not wrong, I have not seen anyone that has recovered his stolen money ones there account has been hacked into. And since it's actually a mobile banking where most of them don't even have a physical location, it would be confusing and frustrating to even know the steps to take if you fall a victim.

Make your financial security your primary responsibility.

Money no de easy to get and make nobody come take the small one when you don try gather o
608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health concern on: January 02, 2024, 07:33:27 AM
It's New Year here in our country and I happened to bump into an old friend who narrated a story about how he almost suffered a heart attack after he won a big amount of money in a casino, this was several months ago, he's lucky that his son was around at that time so he got the right treatment at the right time.

He did not know that his hypertension had gotten worse since he can gamble even if he has this, he is taking medicines and doing relaxation but big winnings must have triggered this.

My question is :
Do you know the status of your health while gambling and what do you do if you happen to suffer a mild or hard stroke?

This is why I make it a point to open my messenger and have my loved one that I can contact in case, whenever I'm playing alone.

no mater how unhealthy my health condition is, no amount of money will increase my blood pressure to be serious.

I even want the money so I will see my health condition . but for those that are having health issue and easily get moved by things, it's best you put out modalities on ground to protect yourself from event as this so you won't die because you won an amount of money that is supposed to bless your life.

But I feel that you can just tell yourself that no amount of money is too big or small to be yours and this will help you when the money finally comes so it won't seem as a big deal.
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your New Year's resolution? on: January 02, 2024, 07:26:19 AM
Gambling has been a part of our lives if you are an active gambler, and as this year is about to end, I would like to know your New Year's resolution.

Please share it with us here, and please don't make your new years resolution like you will not gamble again, that's against the rule of a gambler.

Also, I like to greet you all, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

to be very honest, this is one of those years I haven't written anything down but I have a whole bunch of plans on the things I will accomplish before the year runs out. I understand that it's not just about writing out things I would stop doing or start doing and after sometimes I become unable to doing them and so I just want everything to flow by itself while I work and give it my all in whatever I do during the year.

I have written loads of new year resolution in the past and if I am being real with myself, I will say that I haven't met up with most of them and I feel I should just allow things fall into place by itself this time around and let's see how things goes on but if i need to pen some stuff down it would definitely be that my resolution for the year would be to
Grow! Grow! Grow!

Just growing and improving in all the things and doing and of course work more on becoming more financially stable.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your altcoin holding with low value on: January 02, 2024, 07:14:44 AM
As you can see I m working with Eloncoin and I have been paid by them. The first device I was using got lost my so I changed device and downloaded my apps back and the seed phrase I wrote down from Eloncoin wallet is not working again when I am inputting the seed. So I lost those my first set of coins from Eloncoin and the second wallet which I am using is a desktop wallet but I have not seen the coins in the balance. I tried to refresh it but it is not showing yet. So I have not really utilize the coin very well.

Normally I was planning to hodle them until the coin has value in the future but since I don't have access again. There is no hope.
wow!
And I had plans of changing the phone I logged my wallet into and get a new one, I don't know if this would also affect my previous holding.

Well, I will keep holding it and ensure that my seed phrase is intact but this case you just highlighted is something to be worried about because we can't tell what can happen to our gadget in the long run and if we can't recover out coin after we change out gadget or misplace it like your case, then it wouldn't be a good one to be really honest.
611  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: January 02, 2024, 06:55:50 AM
What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ?  Or do you like the forum exactly as it is?
I would be looking out for an alternative way of supporting those creating an engaging topic on the board that might not be merited yet.

Like, setting up a default system that can automatically merit a conversation that has up to an 100 replies with say 5 to 10 merit.

And also considering give provision for a voice note mostly in the local board. Their are some replies you will want to drop that it would be better to pass it verbally to express it weight.
612  Other / Meta / Re: Why do some campaign members posting essay? on: January 02, 2024, 06:47:15 AM
Sorry about the title. While reading some posts, I noticed that some campaign participants seem to be posting essays. Have you noticed the same, or is it just me? If you also notice this, do you think it's healthy for the forum?
when you say "essay", it depends on what you mean. If it's just because of the length of the writeup, I doubt that's a problem to be worried about.

If I have an opinion to share and would need to make it detailed so the person reading it can understand what I'm saying, then I can't reduce the length of my writeup and make less meaning out of what I'm saying just because I don't want to be seen to be making a lengthy post.

The only problem what writing a lengthy writeup is with regard to those people that spam the forum with unnecessary post that is difficult to understand but is at the same time lengthy and they will post multiple of it at different boards in the forum
613  Economy / Economics / Re: 2024 & Prediction of World War III - Effect on Cryptocurrencies on: January 02, 2024, 06:29:49 AM
In times of war, as long as your nation or environment is directly affected, even if the price of bitcoin goes up, it wouldn't make much sense to you because their would be more issues to tackle at hand and I doubt that the price of bitcoin would be one of them.

While considering the numerous cases of wars around the world, we can't cease to think that a possible world war can break out, if it does happen, then it would definitely involve more than sic countries and it would be a devastating situation that I would rather not imagine in the first place.

If you've followed the recent Rusia-Ukraine war and the Israeli-Palestinian war and look at it effect on the citizens, you would know that if you're faced with such crisis, your business, investment, carrier or what have you would not even be of any concern to you because the trauma itself is unimaginable and i only wish and pray their wouldn't be a world war.
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rollercoaster of emotions. How to deal with? on: January 02, 2024, 06:15:43 AM
Hey everyone, I've been grappling with a question lately and would love to get your thoughts. How much of my monthly income should I realistically invest in Bitcoin, considering the emotional rollercoaster of the crypto market?

I understand the potential gains, but I'm also thinking about the stress of watching the market's frequent ups and downs. Seeing those price fluctuations can be a real thrill ride – exciting one moment and nerve-wracking the next. So, what's the sweet spot? How do I balance a smart investment percentage without getting overwhelmed by the market's volatility?

Would love to hear how you all manage this balance. I already have some amount invested, but way less than I'd like to have, but I have that fear of being put on risk more than I should.
the question you should ask yourself is, how much of my monthly income can I invest into bitcoin that will give me rest of mind for a stipulated period of time?

If you're able to answer that question, then you will make the best investment choice ever. I understand that the hype could be very encouraging while the recent downside volatility bitcoin has experienced might seem a bit discouraging but you've got to just invest an amount that you can leave for a while and keep doing your job while you do a regular check on the market ones in a while to know the change in the price of btc.
615  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: See reason why other African country envy us on: January 02, 2024, 06:09:35 AM
Recently we dey see post they fly here and there from our brothers from other country them as some don pick offence on how we dey succeed for everything wey we put our hand. This thing no be new thing as some of us no that time wey Dem dey even kill our naija piple base this thing for other countries.

The giant of Africa don take over entertainment and film industry, comedy and many more across the end of the world through social media. Dem even dey talk say we spend more time on social media and we dey support each other.

The true be say, we dey smart and hard working, we fit actually make things work where others no see opportunity. Our condition don turn us to think far beyond normal and hence we be number for all this creative entertaining content.

As e dey be, as some naija women dey condemn our men, other countries like our men like die base on there caring and loving way of taking care of their women.

We this few write up I believe I have been able to convince you and not confuse you say naija go still better.

Even for the crypto space, soon na we go dey front as Jagaban of cryptocurrency. As naija be now, most young people Sabi crypto and them dey put body.
thats what's called the nija effect.

God specially created us to face challenge and always come out as victors and this mentality na wetin de push us to do too well for every sector when we find ourselves.

Even with the negative reputation when we get as it concerns some of our people that have gone into fraudulent activities, the good ones are still doing so well and are representing the country positively at different sectors.

Where we want even de talk about? Na sport when osimehn de give them back to back?
Na entertainment when men mount everywhere?
Na academics?
Tech nkor?

Nija na big name when I de proud of on a normal.
616  Economy / Economics / Re: First time? A company suing because people aren't buying its products!!! on: January 01, 2024, 05:30:27 PM
I just read this news and I can't stop laughing.
McDonald's is said to be planning to sue people who have been refusing to buy its products over the past months leading to their $1.3 million loss. This is due to a boycott movement where people in a lot of countries are sanctioning this company because of its support of the Zionist regime that is occupying Palestine and is committing genocide there.

Imagine if some day you are out and about, suddenly someone wearing a chicken suit puts a gun to your head forcing you to buy their fast food or they'll shoot you Cheesy

Ref: https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2023/12/359864/mcdonalds-malaysia-sues-pro-palestine-activists-over-boycott
are they going to sue individuals for obeying the sanction placed on them by their authorities or they are suing the government for placing a sanction on them that has affected their business negatively?

Every national has the right to make decisions that they feel will protect her citizens and this might include sanction as this and I doubt that the threat to make any sue is a realistic one since ad most nations won't even give an f to it.
617  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: New year's Goals. on: January 01, 2024, 05:22:26 PM
It's not just to write out goals every year, you need to know what you want out of life and start doing it without waiting for the beginning of a year when you will make bunch of resolutions and set unrealistic goals that you won't be able to follow it up within the next two months.

The new year should be used for improvement and doing personal assessment to see if you are doing the right thing or not, don't use goals and regulation to tie yourself up not to experiencing the loads of possibilities that awaits you.

Sometimes it's even best way pray for God to help us fulfil the plan he has prepared for us in the year. No go de write wetin you no go fit keep.
618  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Which require more attention? on: January 01, 2024, 05:14:03 PM
We know say an average nija man get two place of residence, one na the place when him de stay carry out him hustle and the other one na the village when him come out from and as e de normally be, most persons de put in the effort to ensure say them try live comfortable for their hustling ground and still set up some structure for vila so that them fit live well whenever they visit home for a season as this.

But when it comes to which of the place of residence one should invest much attention into, there seems to be some sort of difference in view because while some persons think that it's necessary that we make the hustling ground as comfortable as possible by investing hugely in getting a comfortable accommodation and giving it the best interiors, others would prefer to stay in a one bedroom apartment while they are building mansion in the village.

The thing is that we don't stay more than say a week in the village most times and we spend 99% of our lives in the hustling ground but no matter how comfortable we are in our hustling ground, people tend to judge us more from the kind of structures we have in our villages.

What's your take on this?
Should we invest more into our hustling or working residence or would it be better to invest more into our houses in the village since that's technically our real home.

Most of una already de vila like this and I go wan hear una opinion.

620  Other / Meta / Re: Opinion on Spelling Check on: December 31, 2023, 04:23:13 AM
I know this isn't exactly microsoft word but I am curious to know if you think that the Bitcoin Talk Forum is probably more real and authentic because of the lack of a spell check? I think that in addition to being able to guage intelect and a sort of personality traits to pick up from the readers perspective recognizing proper spelling habits in any users helps you know whether or not a person is out of character due to a hack or something of that sort and now we have an account under the control of a hacker/scammer. I think its honeslty great that we don't have a spell check because I think it always has you second guessing yourself and thus training you to always double or triple check your words on a public forum.
you know the saying that anything that is worth doing is wort doing well with?

As long as we know that the forum is a discussion forum and that it requires writing on a regular bases, it becomes necessary to improve on our writing skill if not for ourselves, but for the sake of the person reading what we've penned down at the other end.
