601  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overc monit fanspd RPC stratum linux/windows/osx/mip/r-pi 2.9.4 on: November 20, 2012, 04:13:42 PM
Quick question @ckolivas

Just flashed over to check that all miner are up - saw this...

What is "Harmful miner version detect" - using 2.6.1 on bitminter?

I run Linux 10.10, don't have any backup pools, don't usually upgrade anything, because my rigs just mine continuously with no problems.
602  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: October 31, 2012, 01:18:43 PM
@Yankee  - Thank you for responding.  Bitcoin has indeed been a rocky road, with sites closing and new ones popping up.

I have no problem waiting. I had actually cleaned out my Dwolla balance and sent it all off to MtGox (expecting Bitinstant would be another glbse.com). Now, I plan to refund my Dwolla account as soon as direct purchase is available again - until then, I am getting good MtGox experience.

It sounds like you have some new features coming (very exciting) - when   Dwolla-->฿ address    comes back, I hope you will include at least an estimate of how much ฿ one might expect when purchasing. After finally getting Dwolla verified and money transferred there, plus the 30 day waiting period, I made two ฿ purchases with no clue as to what the $/฿ would be.  I got 12/1 for both while MtGox had changed significantly.

Either way, glad to know this is only a glitch!

NOT happy that fully functional means there is no     From Dwolla ---> to Bitcoin Address   anymore.

OK, so what's the point?  Like I would send from Dwolla to PayPal...
604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 4.2 BTC for $55 (I know everyone hates it....) on: October 25, 2012, 05:33:02 PM
I waited 45+ days before I was able to do my first BTC buy via Bitinstant.

Anyone know how to see what rate they will give you U$D/BTC?

The only chart on Bitinstant is how much U$D you will get after fees.  It doesn't seem to match with MtGox or any other exchange.

1st buy I got BTC at 12.00usd to 1btc

Then the price of BTC on MtGox went down 0.20

2nd buy I got BTC at 12.00usd to 1btc

Is there any way to tell what the transaction will look like before you make it?

I have three rigs - all Ubuntu 10.04LTS - ADL4.0 - SDK2.4 - and I followed the same instructions as everyone....

Why do these look different - (I don't get the nice layout on one of my rigs)Huh

Any ideas - anyone?
It looks like you didn't have curses-development files installed when building cgminer on that rig.

That would be a quick fix - Will rebuild this evening - Thanks!
(Great piece of code BTW - expect a donation)

Like a charm - 2BTC sent!
606  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: October 12, 2012, 04:12:59 PM
After 3 months solid - Back to bitminter  Undecided  (and fees)

Now they will only solve 1 block every 2 days -  (I tend to have that affect).

If blocks increase - feel free to donate and I will stay away!
Do you admit that you holding all blocks you found? Tongue

Well, I found 4 blocks in three months and got the little finder's fee for each - nice feature.  I really like the idea of P2Pool, but got tired of lowering intensity (speed) in order to decrease stales and the like.  I get 0.5 Gh/s more on the other pool (cranked at -I 13)

No,  I wouldn't know how to hold blocks. I just characteristically have bad L*ck Cheesy

Anyway, my P2Pool payout amount will dwindle to nothing in the next 18 hours, after which you can expect tons of cha-chings.

610  Local / Servicios / Re: [GLBSE] [ARS] Cómo cambiar BTC y Pesos Argentinos, en pocos pasos on: September 13, 2012, 10:15:40 PM
Despues de la primera transferencia hacia mi banco, tengo que decirles - todo bien!  Confiable y rapido.   Ahora se puede comprar BTC en otro lado, ganarlas, minerearlas, etc. y tener los pesos argentinos en la mano.

I have to say that after receiving my first bank deposit, I am very happy with the transaction(s).  Now anyone can buy BTC anywhere in the world, earn them, mine them, or whatever - then change them for pesos here.

Great service.  I hope more start using it.
611  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoinary.com - The new smart way to buy and sell Bitcoins. on: September 07, 2012, 08:21:57 PM
Nice site.  I think you should add a "last seen" on users profile pages. Lets us see if the user has logs in regularly or not.  This will give us an idea of when we might see a response to trading messages.

Long time inactive users could make for really lengthy trade commitments.

I just signed up for a glbse account via the guide posted by luchitobw, and will try it.  (looks great - but a bit confusing even if English is your first language).

Creeme que es más fácil de lo que parece, una vez que empiezas a usarlo. Saludos!

Si, muy facil e instantanio!
613  Local / Servicios / Re: [GLBSE] [ARS] Cómo cambiar BTC y Pesos Argentinos, en pocos pasos on: September 07, 2012, 05:01:46 PM
Hello louisBSAS, I really like your idea and I'm interested in buying you Bitcoins for pesos.

There is a site I recommend to make the transactions, called Bitcoinary. There, you can review and get reviewed so other users know you are trustworthy.

Tell me what you think.

Regards!

--

I think I have to get used to glbse first - head spinning.  I involved with bitinstant, dwolla, mtgox, glbse along with mining...  I will check out Bitcoinary as my next 'sign-up'

Sent me a message with how many bitcoins you want - I limited by dwolla limits.

I am trying to understand exactly how much I get for a AR$ at .0153 (or whatever).  This Excel file might help those clarify your thinking on glbse   http://bit.ly/QjHe4r - I hope this helps everyone. (just change the values in the blue boxes to see real money values calculated)

Sorry - I still think in Dollars Smiley

Saludos

--
Hi.  I am mining here in Argentina - Downtown.  Sorry for the errors in Spanish.  I just signed up for a glbse account via the guide posted by luchitobw, and will try it.  (looks great - but a bit confusing even if English is your first language).

I have ways of moving bitcoins in and out of U.S. accounts and I really hope that more get involved with BTC here.  I believe this could be the answer to the current mess we have, with all the different dollar/peso rates, government controls, etc.  Everyone I talk to always asks how to change this new currency into pesos, and I offer to change them at the going rate.  I also offer to buy anyone's btc for pesos via an arrangement I have with a local business owner.  Come to the kiosko closest to the corner of Mayo and Piedras and ask about bitcoins.  Send them from your mobile device, and get cash on the spot.  No set limit, but try to keep it under 1000ARS - otherwise contact me first.

I hope to see more people saving BTC accounts on SD cards in the 'caja fuerte' soon.

i wish I could add some difficulty to my miners, but the /1000 or whatever doesn't work in phoenix

I was wondering who else is out there using Phoenix and what command line options are you using for best results on p2pool. Does worksize have anything to do with the 'difficulty' issue?

I have played with setting poclbm, phatk and phatk2 - the phatk kernel seems to give me the best hashrate.

I have tried with/without vectors and fastloop plus higher and lower Aggression - and given each change a couple days to see how it plays on stales, DOA's, etc.

Anyone want to share 'best configuration' for ATI cards?

* These two give me the best results so far.

... seems to increase local hash rate but payout drops over time - dead on arrival: between 1.9 - 4.0%
-k phatk DEVICE=0 WORKSIZE=128 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP AGGRESSION=9

... seems to generate a higher payout over time but slows reported hash rate.
-k phatk DEVICE=0 WORKSIZE=256 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP AGGRESSION=9

I am running 3 boxes with a mix of 6870's 6990's and 7970's - phoenix 1.7 - Ubuntu 10.04lts
616  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 23, 2012, 04:23:38 PM
Great day yesterday.  I have been mining for a month now, and P2Pool seems to beat other pools. Cudos!

I have been running just shy of 2Gh for over a week- non-stop. "current payout" listed at around .15at first, then .41 (after 4 days), now .28 to .33.

I have been trying to figure out how the payout amount is calculated and such.  All in all, it seems fair according to pool speed.

Question:

Over 8 hours while I slept, I gained 22 shares in 8 hours.. I had 418 when I woke up 5 hours ago - now I have 419 (in 5 hours time).
Orphans and 'Dead' have not changed  and 'expected time to share:' continues to be between 18 and 22 minutes.

Any ideas?

Running 2 rigs piped into P2Pool/Bitcoin running on a non-mining machine - all Linux
No changes in configuration at all - so, that can't be the cause.

Thanks ahead of time.

I've met the minimums.   I thought it was automatic, but I guess not.   Cool forum, would like to contribute - mining related topics.

Thx

I'm on Linux, so I am not worried about virus attacks.  I back up my wallet.dat regularly to several pen drives.

Question:  I am mining so I usually have 4 or 5 transactions awaiting another 100+ block solves before they are confirmed.  Let's say I backup my wallet and something happens / need to restore it.  If I restore the a .dat - that was backed up with 4 partially confirmed transactions, will they be reconfirmed or lost?

Thx

I can't speak for the others, but I have been using LastPass for a couple years.   It offers to generate random passwords (difficult ones) and then remembers them.  Sign on from any machine and use a primary password to sign on to any account.

Pretty decent, but for some reason it's only free on your PC (nor sure about mac).  I put it on my Android and it's only a trial version (have to pay) - same for iDevices.

How does the 4 hours online actually work? As in 4 hours worth of posting on here?

Lurking, reading.
Damn it, I've certainly read more than 4 hours here, but not as a registered user.  Grin
Me too.
