601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best piece of advice to anyone going into bitcoin on: December 20, 2023, 07:53:23 PM
Don't give advice unless you're a licensed financial advisor.  I do understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but this truly isn't good advice unless you know that they can fully afford to make such a purchase.  I do like how you explain the DCA (dollar cost averaging) structure..but there is NO  guarantee that doing this will make you a millionaire, and it's sort of irresponsible to state such things.

You're heart is in the right place though!
602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 20, 2023, 07:48:55 PM
A few things.. first off NEVER show anyone your bitcoin holdings.  In fact you should never tell anyone you even own bitcoin. It's a bit different with a friend so I understand that.  Secondly, sounds like you've got all your bicoin in a hot wallet- move that to cold storage!

Lastly, unless you're a financial advisor who's discussed his entire portfolio, it's not smart of him to listen to your suggestions.  How do you know he can afford bitcoin?  Never buy anything until you've done the research.  I didn't buy btc for about year from discovering it.  I read multiple books and make sure I knew what is was, how it works etc.  Never just buy something because someone tell you that you should.

I appreciate you well meaning behind this though!
603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: December 20, 2023, 07:44:20 PM
Do not know anybody who had Drew Lock and the Seahawks to win that game especially after the announcement of Geno Smith being out of the game.
The face of Jalen when the camera panned over to him with around a minute left sitting on the sidelines told the entire story: "It Hurts so much!"

We have some good matches coming up for the week with the playoff picture smoothing out a bit more.

Geno has really been overrated IMO.  I knew that last year was mainly a fluke.  Don't get me wrong he's a good player, but he's not a star.

Some great matchups this week.  I will reevaluate these as the week goes on, but as of right now here's my top picks..

Colts +1 versus Falcons  Aruther Smith is a JOKE , losing to Carolina last week.  Even if Pittman is out, ATL is a joke
Lions -3.5 versus Vikings
Browns -2.5 versus Texans  Now if Nico and Stroud play, I'd swap this bet.  But no Stroud I'm smashing the Browns at -2.5

Not much else I like spread wise.
604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Is Michael Jordan a gambling addict ? on: December 20, 2023, 07:35:39 PM
I was recently arguing with someone whom stated that MJ is a gambling addict, and I pushed back.  I think we could probably all agree that being addicted to anything is never good, no matter what it is.  Michael is famous for being a big gambler.  However, it's not like that's the only thing he does in life.  He's a billionaire with many companies and countless things to do each day. Gambling doesn't effect those important things in life.

He takes care of his family, far from broke and gambling brings him entertainment.. so my question, would MJ be considered an addict?  I argue he's not.  He just loves to do it, but any negative effects may be literally zero ..

Wiki Definition "Addiction is a neuropsychological disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to use a drug or engage in a behaviour that produces natural reward, despite substantial harm and other negative consequences. Repetitive drug use often alters brain function in ways that perpetuate craving, and weakens (but does not completely negate) self-control.[1] This phenomenon – drugs reshaping brain function – has led to an understanding of addiction as a brain disorder with a complex variety of psychosocial as well as neurobiological (and thus involuntary)[a] factors that are implicated in addiction's development.[2][3][4] Classic signs of addiction include compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli, preoccupation with substances or behavior, and continued use despite negative consequences. Habits and patterns associated with addiction are typically characterized by immediate gratification (short-term reward),[5][6] coupled with delayed deleterious effects (long-term costs).[3][7]"

(sorry hilarious and cyrus, I know you see this same type of topic a trillion times a day but this is bit different and something I'm truly interested in discussing, being his situation is unique).

Haha, this league has a good sense of humor!

Oh man there's all sorts of really great league loser deals that I've seen over the years that are hilarious.  One of my favorites is making someone spend 1 day at an iHop (breakfast/lunch diner) but every pancake they ate took 1 hour off their time.  Another is someone going to an open mic night at a comedy club, unable to tell them why they are there doing it, and do a 10-15mn comedy set lol.

Look at this way...If I ever had to receive or send a large amount of BTC, then I would send the BTC addy thru two different channels...example would be thru signal and also thru encrypted email. If they both match then I am ok,,,as I do worry about the man in the middle attack.
I think there are better options than signal now, maybe something like simplex chat, first messenger without using any user IDs.
It's open source, it has end-to-end encryption and you dont need to use phone numbers or other identity.
Another good thing about Simplex chat is that you can use both on mobile devices and desktop computers (Linux, Mac, win).

Another way I make sure the addy is good is, I would send or received say $10 in BTC and once that has arrived in good condition, then you are good to go. Have done this many times, and it will never fail you.
Not ideal thing to do when fess are crazy high  Tongue

607  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Breached or Scam coin makers list on: December 19, 2023, 11:37:18 PM
Mopar, nice work my friend. This is extremely commendable. I’m really sick and tired of so many whom spot such things but don’t bring them to light.

Anyone who refuses to answer legitimate questions, hides and deletes them, blocks you etc is to NOT be trusted. Take a look at the most trustworthy creators ..would they do these types of things ?

I’ve run in to this same type of thing many times where my legitimate question are deleted/ignored. Never ever trust any person or company whom does this. Transparency is key.

If I were you Mopar I’d have opened a thread so that it can be grabbed by google when people search for these. Perhaps this would then get the makers to come here and respond. Then you mention essentially he said he doesn’t trust his workers…wtf. How could you trust someone who hires people he doesn’t trust. This is also used as an excuse by makers…”it wasn’t me, it was my team”. Here’s a great example of that- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2580746.0

They are definitely on my radar now and will be looking in to them.  XRP lol.
608  Economy / Speculation / Re: A big buying opportunity might be on the horizon on: December 19, 2023, 06:49:06 PM
What sort of rug pull are you referring to?  Not sure what you mean exactly by that.  I think the same principles stand here as they do anywhere else with investing..DCA/dollar cost average.  Dollar Cost Average is a concept created exactly for times like this where there's simply just a lot of unknowns.  So, just continue to slow but surely add to your bitcoin.  You'll catch plenty of low during the time period.
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 19, 2023, 06:45:43 PM
I don't know how many people here who've seen or rather listened to the new Eminem Juice World song, but it reminds me of gambling and gambling responsibly.  Juice World famously and sadly died of drug OD a few years ago now, and Em famously had a drug issue for years.  So it's a song of responsibility (rare in the Hip Hop genre).  It sort of reminds me of this...if you can do it responsibly then great, if not..you shouldnt be gambling at all.
610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does match fixing concern you often? on: December 19, 2023, 06:39:43 PM
It really doesn't , because it's so few and far between that we actually ever hear of matches being fixed.  Now don't get me wrong, I damn well know that they do..but they don't as often as I think people think they do.

Has anyone seen all the parody commercial the NFL (US football) has been putting out, mainly before the season, where they are all mocking the fact that so many say the league is "scripted".  It's pretty funny, pointing out the absurdity.
611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 19, 2023, 06:36:59 PM
Well here we are, it's offically playoff time no matter what league you're in.  How in the fck did time fly by this fast?  I appreciate ya'll in this league..everyone's cool, does a good job with setting lineups and what not..glad to be apart of it.  So cheers to that (lots of fighting/bad actors etc in other leagues I'm in).  I may not have made the playoffs but I got closer than I did last year lol.

Ended up making the playoffs in 4 of my 6 leagues.  Play Hhampuz in the semi-final in our other btalk league.  Dropped like 145pts and had a monster of a game..10pts less and I'd be looking out.  So US vs Sweden this week..but I think he will prevail, he's just due.

Best of luck to those whom made the playoffs..will be watching closely.  Cheers ya'll.
612  Economy / Economics / Re: My view of wealth and assets specially now on: December 18, 2023, 06:33:46 PM
It depends entirely on where you live in the world.  Real Estate is often a fantastic investment, and owing debt is not necessarily bad at all.  I believe your view is a bit flawed here.

I mean you mention btc, gold, no real estate. Well what about traditional investment?  No one should be buying gold, silver, bitcoin etc if they don't have a proper retirement portfolio such and IRA of 401k.  Investing in the stock market is to to be investing in actual real world physical companies.  Far too many people start buying bitcoin before having any sort of traditional investments ..DONT DO THAT.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You will burn on: December 18, 2023, 06:26:52 PM
Yeah working in finance you should see the type of stuff I hear and get asked, people tend to be clueless with any finance stuff.. not understanding basic principles.  I often get clients asking about bitcoin, and always they tell me they've got say 50 percent bitcoin, and the other 50.  I try telling them they have zero ZERO chance of becoming something.

Twitter is filled with bots that will say "buy this coin, it's upside is way higher because its only 50 cents.. these companies never explain the other siide of the equation.  I agree though, this is a great topic btw..more people need to come here to learn this concept.
614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 18, 2023, 06:20:19 PM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.

Anyone who gambles on animals as a sport are not only not intelligent, their inconsiderate asshole who seemingly fine on watching a beautiful horse whos all hocked up run a race, risking injury that OFTEN ends in death. It's sick and cruel and show a major lack of intelligence in my mind.  Sorry as an animal advocate I can't not speak out

As for the other stuff..heck yes it make a big difference Intelligence is needed in games like Poker, Roulette and especially blackjack.  My father was the most intelligent person I'd ever known.  He loved to gamble, but he was very smart about it.  I can't tell you how many blackjack books he read.  He would hate playing with one of my uncles because he was a terrible plyer and would mess up the game.  He's certainly not as smart as my father way.  It matter.
615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I could have won bigger. on: December 18, 2023, 06:14:51 PM
Yeah I hear ya, that's pretty frustrating, but man..if 10 bucks is too much to come out of pocket with that other 10 still being owed to you..does it really makes sense to continue to gamble?  As a financial advisor I see stuff like this and I start to think what might have been a better idea.  If 10 bucks is a lot, you shouldn't be gambling.  Be careful, stay within your means...but againi..that sucks your friend did that to you.
616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 18, 2023, 06:10:38 PM
If this is really Tee Higgins' mother, no one should mention anything bad about her son in social media heheeheheh.

@ChiBitCTy. Were the Bears +3.5?

On the Eagles vs. the Seahawks, might this be the opportunity to bet on the Eagles with only -3 against the spread? This might be -7 or more if they did not play consecutively against the 49ers and the Cowboys which arguably are contenders for NFC championship.

Man I hate how berried this thread always gets.  Crazy that that's just how busy this sub is

Anways, I saw the bears around -2.5, but it could of been 3.5 closer to the game.  Either way they lost in lovely Bears style fashion lol.

There's a lot for me riding on tonights game.  If AJ Brown scores 10 or more points I'm in the playoffs in the other btalk league, where our pot sits around $2,200 or so.  Scored 145pts this week too, my team went over, and despite losing Burrow and Chubb, my team is rock solid.  So yeah, trust me when I say Brown wont have 10pts because of me lol.  Just watch.

I think the main thing here is Jalen Hurts may or may not play. He pays I'm smashing that bet.  Talkin smack to his mom, def not cool.

OGNasty a page or two ago is right.

It would save everyone here a lot of time and troubles if they kept this thought in the back of their heads.

Took me a good mn to understand this lol. You act as if you being right is common ..doubtful. messin, but this is a Yogg thread and will stay on that topic.  Hopefully people will get back to the topic of doing something with the collected funds. This just really rubs me wrong way.
618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You must have a source on: December 17, 2023, 06:47:57 PM
Honestly I’m not sure that I really see any sort of pattern like you mention in your thread. I see a lot of people regardless of income , ups and downs of the spot price etc. moving in and out etc, Typically people whom are struggling a lot with the decision to sell all the time are not the people who should be likely be buying bitcoin at all.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: December 17, 2023, 06:42:04 PM
Well being financially responsible when it comes to gambling is something that goes hand in hand with my work (finance), so it keeps me in check gambling wise ..but I can’t lie I’ve recently been playing a little roulette, and that actually kinda scares me as I really just don’t trust it being legit but two , can’t make it a habit. Besides that, I’m all good in this area.
620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 17, 2023, 06:36:30 PM
Couldn’t really find much that I liked betting on today.  I believe the falcons were -2.5 versus the Panthers. Snag a little action  We will see how that one turns out.

This Bears Browns game, what a snoozfest.  Best of luck everyone who’s still in contention this week !  Mf Tonyan drops a TD as Im typing. What a throw too ugh, alright I need a smoke break
