6001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cristiano Ronaldo's next club betting on: July 05, 2018, 09:18:51 PM
Cr7 is now 33 years old and this movement could be his final before retiring. Bookies around the world are now betting on his possible move and majority of sports websites have come up with 5 possible destinations. My intuition helped me shortlist 3 among them.

1. Any major club of Chinese super league. If money is his concern at this point, CSL looks very bright as option.
2. Paris Saint-Germain - shrewd mind of PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi would want Cr7 to be a part of his club. Money could be another reason.
3. Manchester United - his old club where he played for 6 years. Big money club with stong brand image.

Lets see what happens!
6002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Travel Booking Giant Expedia Has Quietly Removed Bitcoin Payment - Thoughts? on: July 05, 2018, 11:47:26 AM
The extreme volatility may be the reason behind this decision. We need a tech settlement partner who can convert bitcoins to fiat money in real time based on the prevailing market price. The delay in settlement time can cause major loss to the accepting merchant and that is the main bottleneck that is stopping bitcoin's adoption.

However, looking at the growth in interest of using digital money for payment of goods and services, they will eventually have to bring it back in future. As more settlement businesses like bitpay emerges, the market scenario will drastically change overtime.
6003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How has Bitcoin changed your life for the better? (Those who bought <2017) on: July 05, 2018, 11:40:00 AM
In BTC around 2016. For me, it has given me a big step toward financial freedom. Frankly, if I could make do with a lower quality of life, I would already have enough for a few lifetimes. This is the biggest wealth transfer of our generation.

Bought everything I ever wanted  and can support my family very well. Grateful for all of this. This is not a show off thread but rather to share the positivity in a real way as there is too much negativity. 🙏🏻

Bitcoin was always a financial blessing to me in real life. Apart from the financial freedom I got from bitcoin, it saved me from getting into debt once.

Last year only, I met with a small accident while I was riding my motorcycle. It was not life threatening but needed urgent medical assistance. Being month end, I didn't have money to pay for the emergency treatment bill and the cabin expense for two days. I simply cashed out the required amount through localbitcoins using my smartphone and paid the hospital bill in full.

Otherwise I would have to ask my relatives for money. I am grateful that my saved bitcoins saved me from getting into a debt. It is indeed a blessing.

6005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if Satoshi came back suddenly on: July 04, 2018, 07:48:39 PM
Imagine one day, we see Satoshi connect to the forum and open a topic to say Hello I'm back. And that he gives us irrefutable proof that it is him. What would happen?

Would satoshi go to work for Blockstream?
Would Roger Ver start crying like a child and return to his cave?
All the media will talk about it and so with the snowball effect, the Bitcoin would go not to the moon but to another galaxy?
Do you think he will continue the Bitcoin project, or lets others taking care of it?

I hope he'll at least give me a bitcoin t-shirt with his autograph, I'll put it next to Messi's.
He will get 1 Merit point from me, I swear

Do you know that Satoshi was actually a member of this forum? Please check the below account and check his posts as well.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3

I don't expect him to come back online again because if it happens, the enforcement agencies will try to track him down for innovating the most important technology of this decade. Let him live in peace.

6006  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How many $ worth of bitcoins can I sell? on: July 04, 2018, 07:21:13 PM
I sell locally for cash.  I've been approached by someone who wants several thousand dollars worth all at once.  Naturally, I will meet them in my bank and deposit it immediately, but are there any legal limits I should be concerned with?  Normally I deal with a couple hundred dollars max.  USA here.

That can be a trap set up by FED. So never ever execute a trade of several thousand dollar at once. There were incidents where people got arrested for selling huge amounts of bitcoin for cash. I have given few links below which you can read,

https://news.bitcoin.com/us-federal-authorities-arrest-man-selling-9-99-bitcoin/

https://news.bitcoin.com/24-year-old-sent-to-prison-for-selling-bitcoin-to-undercover-agents/

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoiner-faces-charges-after-selling-btc-undercover-cop/

So my suggestion is to stay within your limit of few hundred dollars and ask for ID of the buying party. Just to be on the safer side.
6007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Benefits of gambling? Yes - it exists! on: July 04, 2018, 07:11:44 PM
yes there are benefits when gambling is relieving stress and if win will benefit, but if gambling as a hobby will surely bring destruction for those who have a hobby like that.
Yeah you are right. If you gamble just for fun and not for making money then its ok you will be relaxed but not in online gambling. If you visit a traditional casino with your friends and drink dance and a little bit gambling you will be mentally relaxed, but as you mentioned that regular gambling will ruin your life and the life of your family. So keep avoid from regular gambling.

Many people are losing money through only because of regular gambling online, for a person gambling is just for fun machine to enjoy our weekends. Otherwise, if you consider the gambling in money making then definitely you are going to lose a lot of money, so it is always good to consider gambling as just for fun with the little amount of money for investment.

People this days wants fast money and thus they think that gambling is the best source as you do not have to do anything just play any of the games and you can either win 100% of the money or lose it . But they forget that mostly they will be on the losing end rather than winning it.

Frankly gambling is not a method of earning money. It is a form of entertainment only. Those who understand the difference are the ones who stays addiction free. Just like any other business, gambling businesses also require profit and that comes from the players. That's an open truth and every player knows about it. If some foolish fellow takes gambling to earn his/her living expense, that it's his/her fault. Gambling can change your life in two ways, firstly by winning jackpot and investing that money in some profitable source can make your life superior and secondly by becoming addicted. The choice is always yours!
6008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sheldon Adelson - The Gambling emperor featured in Forbes billionaire's list on: July 04, 2018, 05:15:35 PM
Sheldon Adelson is a clear example of what I usually say: the best way to win in the casino is to be the owner of it. At least an investor. This is easier said than done because some casinos go bankrupt and land-based ones require a huge inversion and contacts to get licenses.

Even though this news would make no impact to your gambling profits, but I thought of giving you some reason to cheer on!

It might make an impact if some people decide to become a casino investor instead of a gambler after reading your post.

Gambling is like any other business mate! Without profit no business can run. So gambling also a way to make profits for the owners as well as the employees who work there. Investors invest money to get profit as well. Will you invest in something which doesn't give you any return? Till the time people take gambling as a form of entertainment, is good. If someone sees gambling as a way to earn money for living, that where the problem begins.
6009  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Indian crypto currency exchange takes Central Bank to court against recent ban on: July 04, 2018, 09:27:26 AM
Latest Update on the case:

1. Supreme court refuses to put a stay order on the RBI directive.
2. Court directed RBI to provide reasons for the Banking Ban within next 7 days.
3. Next hearing date is 20th July, 2018.
4. Mr. Sandeep Goenka (Co-founder Zebpay), will move to the Supreme Court on 5th July as a separate petition to obtain stay order against RBI circular.

Still hopeful! Lets see how the event unfolds.
6010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe BTC wont last because NO ONE really profits from it... on: July 04, 2018, 08:52:14 AM
Thanks for your honest opinion. The economy of the world is indeed drive by the greed and the potential of future profits. However, Bitcoin is the pioneer and true crypto currency currently available in the market. Majority of the altcoins are not qualified to be called as a crypto currency because they are not decentralized. For example, we can consider both Ripple and EOS. Both of the currencies are centralized in nature and they can ban your account for whatsoever reasons, just like EON did few weeks back. That is not possible with bitcoin. Once you have bitcoin in your wallet, only you are the supreme owner of that bitcoins and no one else can claim the ownership on that.

Likewise, every coin has their own pros and cons. Also when you are talking about profit, let me tell you that all early adopters of bitcoin are making huge profits even today. The ones who aren't making profits are the ones who had adopted bitcoin during late 2017s out of pure greed. I personally scored bitcoins when it was only standing at 450 USD. You can easily calculate the percentage of profits I am already in. It all depends on your adoption time.
6011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why is there no bitcoin casino with sicbo on: July 03, 2018, 10:04:43 PM
Sic Bo was originated from China and was very popular in eastern part of the world. However, it was never much popular in western countries. While a lot of online casino players never heard of this game, it is still a very popular game in Macau casinos. It's just that majority of the online casinos are created and licensed in western countries and looking at the popularity, they have decided to keep Sic Bo out of their list.
6012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holders will betray bitcoin one day on: July 03, 2018, 09:54:23 PM
The crypto market is profit driven. The loyalty is directly proportional to the potential profit a coin can generate. So bitcoin is no exception here. I am a long time holder of bitcoin. I didn't sell off my holdings when the price was at 21k. I am not ready to sell of my holdings today as well. Because I belive there is potential.

The moment I stop believing that the potential is not anymore present in bitcoin. I will loose my interest in holding and sell of my reserve. So when someone says they are loyal to bitcoin not because of the potential profit but for the technology, I laugh silently. Till the time potential for profit is there, people will love even the technology. The moment all potential is gone, people will not think twice before dumping it. That's how the world crypto economy works.
6013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kryptowalut and Bitcoin is a financial pyramid? on: July 03, 2018, 08:20:11 PM
Poland is known for their anti crypto mentality. Their Banks have stopped providing service to the crypto related businesses and the matter is now sub judice. The government is now funding the anti crypto propaganda to discourage people from entering into this space.

The ATM you are referring here, is funded and maintained by a privately owned company. So it has no relation with the government. Since the entire story is under the purview of court, the government is trying other routes. The situation is very similar to India now. Not yet banned and not yet legalized. Balancing on a limbo.
6014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OPEN DOORS TO INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS on: July 03, 2018, 04:57:32 PM
I just read through the news from coinbase blog and it seems they are now offering crypto custody service to the clients including institutional investors. They are also planning to expand the scope of the service to Asia as well.

https://blog.coinbase.com/coinbase-custody-is-officially-open-for-business-182c297d65d9

This is the first full scale corporate custodian service offered by a crypto giant in digital asset arena. So we can expect few more funds to flow into the market. However, what I foresee is that, the service is beneficial for large ICOs as they are the primary target client for this service.

Investing corporate funds into crypto space has a lot of legal boundaries. If we want to see big amounts of fresh funds flowing into the market, the legal framework needs to be simplified.
6015  Economy / Economics / Re: Banking is Dead… Long live Blockchain Banking! on: July 02, 2018, 10:31:03 PM
Banks can not afford increasing expenditure of the old technology anymore they will have to adapt to the change.

Talking about technology and banking, Blockchain, will disrupt the financial domain with certainty. Much has been discussed, debated and discussed about this distributed ledger, both online and offline. So this innovative technology does not require a special introduction at this time. Calling it 'annoying' is a disparaging statement. To understand what a blockchain is, look at bitcoin or cryptocurrency. It has achieved many 'never heard' scenarios in the financial domain. Since technology has been introduced in the banking world, experts are always struggling to create safe and secure means of transactions. A person must go through a third party application or an intermediary or regulatory body to transfer money. But here is the digital currency - completely unfocused - and has broken all conventional banking laws. Today, a person can send money to anyone in the world immediately without having to go through the hassle of what I experienced. It has happened in many parts of the world. You can transfer money via WeChat, Whatsapp, and even Facebook Messenger right now.

Believe it or not, blockchain is a breakthrough technology that can be applied to your domain-name. From agriculture, aviation to supply chains, finance, and the food industry, blockchains are everywhere.

A lot of organizations around the world are already experimenting with this technology. Major financial organizations such as the SBI Holdings, Goldman Sachs and Citi group have already invested in blockchain. Back home, the State Bank of India (SBI) has grand plans in place to use blockchain for a number of processes, including the KYC system. South Indian Bank seamlessly carried out an international transaction using this technology. ICICI, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra are some of the few banks that have hopped on to the blockchain bandwagon. While some banks are experimenting with this digital ledger and achieving impressive results, some financial institutions are gearing up to reform and redefine huge chunks of their banking processes. Shocked Shocked

Good for them and their customers!

As far as my bank is concerned, I recall reading this article which showed that out of Fortune500 in last 50 years, 84% of them are dead today. In the next 10 years, I am happy to predict just a few banks will remain in Fortune 500. Most financial institutions will have either absorbed blockchain tightly OR they will be gone.

Our traditional banking system is outdated and over abused. So it needs to be changed. A revolution has already started and more and more banking institutions are joining the blockchain league for sustaining their business. Since you have taken examples from Indian Banks mostly, let me inform you that Kotak Mahindra Bank has signed a MOU with Ripple to use their cross border settlement service. This is just the beginning and we have long road ahead of us.

But the main question still remain unanswered. Does these adoptions will pave the way for cryptos to the world to make it mainstream?? I don't see much hope here. What I foresee is that, we will see a digital version of fiat will be introduced to the market which will not be decentralized in nature. A centralized architecture of blockchain will be used. Systems are certainly changing but when it comes to money, governments will not allow it to go out of their hand.
6016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LAUNCHING AN ICO BY JANUARY 2019 on: July 02, 2018, 10:23:55 PM
The thread tells nothing about your ICO. If I take your words literally then I understand that the ICO will be working around all "black" under privileged homeless and hungry children. Are you planning to open a NGO to work with this social issue??

If I take the figurative meaning, I understand that you are planning to launch an ICO which will provide tremendous success to its investors. If it is so, then what is the background of your ICO? What business you are aiming at?? Give us more details.
6017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any One From Whole World Predict Bitcoin Price? on: July 02, 2018, 10:08:09 PM
I want to ask, do you believe that anyone predicts bitcoin price 100%..?
What Will You Say About This?

Predict bitcoin's price?? Yes anyone can do including me.

Predict 100% correctly?? No one can do. Even with the best of technical expertise or market knowledge, no one can predict bitcoin's price 100% correctly. If for some event someone predicts the price correctly, that's a coincidence and doesn't prove that the person is a human with super power.
6018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you suppose will happen when BTC loses it's dominance? on: July 02, 2018, 10:02:47 PM
Every week BTC seems to lose it's market dominance. Currently it sits at 34.4 percent but what happens when it becomes 5 percent or less? Thoughts?

Bitcoin will loose its dominance over time for sure. Currently it is around 42% but during late 2017, the bitcoin dominance was over 50%. So it is loosing its dominance slowly over time. However, that is because of the new innovative coins are getting introduced in the market and the investments are getting divided. However, on the other hand, the market size is increasing. So the dominance is only decreasing in the percentage factor while the market cap is not decreasing unless the price goes down.

However, I don't see bitcoin dominance to go down to 5% level anytime soon. Even if it happens in next 10 years, the overall crypto market cap is expected to increase to such level where the current valuation will look smaller compared to it. Being a pioneer crypto currency, the significance of bitcoin will not go down.

6020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do whales really control the market, or is that a myth on: July 02, 2018, 08:48:37 AM
Is there any evidence that these mysterious 'whales' really control the bitcoin market, or is this a myth generated as people try to understand why bitcoin prices go up and down?

I don't really believe in it because there is no evidence of the same happening. However, the whales are actually the big money hoarders so they have some controlling interests on the price of a cryptocurrency. But one thing I always fail to understand and I have asked this same questions to many places in this forum. Not yet received a satisfactory reply yet.

Lets assume, I hold 100,000 of bitcoins. So as a whale, why would I want the bitcoin's price to go down? If the price increases, my net worth will be increasing and I will have more purchasing power. So I fail to understand people, when they say that whales are behind this price crash. How and why?? Can anyone provide a proper understanding?
