6002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who creates more impact in bitcoin price the Hodlers or Investors? on: January 15, 2022, 03:58:14 PM
I doubt that there is a difference between HODLERS and INVESTORS.

I know "hodlers" and I know investors. The main difference to me? The former actually have sole access to private keys, and have most likely in the past used Bitcoin (to buy or pay for stuff) or continue to do so on occasion. The latter probably only have some form of Bitcoin derivative (a stock or pegged-asset or whatever or an account on some platform that says they have Bitcoin but doesn't give them actual access or control).

Investors probably have more market impact short term. Holders, as users, contribute to long term value.

My couple of satoshis, anyway.

Sigh. I knew it would be dull, but not this dull. Like you said Trofo looked like both just wanted a draw but KDB as usual pulls a rabbit out of the hat for Pep.

Chelsea hedge bet did not work out, by least got a point from this yawn win. Thought City might get a wake up call but on they march. And a number of you got exact scores too. Sorry, Welsh but there you go. Hope Villa at least gets the other Manchester team tonight.

Only bet left for me is a long acca with first leg won thanks to Citeh. January blues, let's say.

Edit: aaaand ruined as Norwich got 2 goals in the time I wrote this. Heh.
6004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazilian mayor to reportedly invest 1% of city funds in Bitcoin on: January 15, 2022, 02:15:54 PM
Is it cynical to treat all news like this as popularity moves and back chanelling to secure backing? You want to make lives a little bit better for your citizens, great. But I hardly think making crypto investments (again, note there actually isn't any specific Bitcoin intent) see the elite as benefactors, especially in a place hardly known for transparency. Not to point fingers since my own country sits very low in Transparency Index...

Bitcoin is not a magic wand to fix economic problems. Politicians are either naive or deceptive if they claim it does.
6005  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Quora Bengali is killing bitcoin on: January 15, 2022, 01:16:38 PM
Quora's changed in the last couple of years -- it's definitely very pro Bitcoin and crypto. The most viewed answers in finance now are in crypto.

But the caveat is the bulk of Quora profiles are spambots trying to game SEO. Take a look at even the most viewed answers and they're crap. Very, very few are actually to the average standards of this forum. If you think the altcoin section here is bad, Quora is a madhouse.

Not saying Quora's shit, but it's pretty shit for Bitcoin. Those Bengali posters you're talking about? Believe me, they're blackhat SEO bots and doing the same crap in other topics. It's not a fight worth your time.
6006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet AFCON prediction pool discussion thread on: January 15, 2022, 12:40:13 PM
These generations are toothless, and I miss players like Emenike of Nigeria, Drogba of Ivory Coast, Cessie of Senegal, Gyan of Ghana, and Smauel Etoo of Cameroon hitting and lighting up the front of their respective national teams. Today's strikers are all toothless and sluggish in front of the net.

The pool is becoming more difficult to forecast, and the underdogs are reaping the benefits.  Grin

Yeah. I stubbornly kept to my predictions even after witnessing the results AND style of the first Matchday, but anyway, we didn't put anything in this pool so I don't mind keeping to my usual style, but entertainment wise, I also feel pretty cheated, especially when you compare this to how they were playing during qualifiers.

Today's strikers are good, just no longer playing in the formation or style of past editions. Why, I've no idea. We gotta blame the coaches as Trofo says. It's even more frustrating when you saw how Senegal played in last WC, or let's even say outsider like Tunisia who still played to score against European teams and now lose miserably to what, Mali (and yes the ref was shit but the team was shittier)?
6007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +78295 units on: January 15, 2022, 12:23:31 PM
Late late pick but couldn't resist the way odds jumped up for Chelsea against City, and boy do they need to win this one to keep all of our hopes alive for a City post-midway slump heh. Why not double our stakes too?

200 units at Fairlay on Chelsea to WIN vs City @5.62. Other odds: 5.10
Units advantage: 52

Running advantage after 100 bets: +11339 (+52)
All-time cumulative: +78,687
Running units after 99 bets (13W|86L): +2673 (-100)
6008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tonga to copy El Salvador’s bill making Bitcoin legal tender, says former MP on: January 15, 2022, 11:43:31 AM
They're just joining their neighbours who a couple of years ago offered citizenship for Bitcoin (makes me curious to see just how many new Pacific Islanders are there for their Bitcoin) so they're already up over 100% on those investments if they never sold.

Makes for fancy headlines but their long-term fates haven't been changed. Economic diversification is the only route to salvation, not Bitcoin evangelisation.
6009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Supercycle or Halving cycle still? on: January 15, 2022, 10:33:57 AM
Yeah I have been thinking more and more that the cycle as we know it could very well be over. A few firsts have already happened... First time the rally lasted longer than a year (by my calculations anyway) if we see now as still a yet to subside rally. First time we saw barely 3x gain of ATH to ATH.

A big move down and a failure this year to continue gains would confirm another cycle I would say.

I can wait =)

Nice exacts for a few of you swogerino, Joca, hahay and captain Wink

we are taking Norwich at home, maybe that should be a decent match and a chance for Gray to prove his value

regarding United and Villa, not sure, but United has to start winning sometime soon, maybe this weekend is the moment

As long as we don't force another red card and then have to break down a fort, we should be all right. Compliments to Norwich, they still come out of the blocks trying to fight, for better or worse.

And on United starting a winning streak well, Villa's also got to start theirs soon to hold off the panic tide.
6011  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 14, 2022, 09:09:13 PM
3-0 up and they just had to let Freiburg get back into the game, of course Haaland needed to retain the GD. No other game available for me to see so I switched to my rare German football once AFCON had ended. This right after watching Gladback get the better of Bayern too. Should still expect Bayern to win their game in hand, and steamroll to the end but Freiburg will rue their chance to cement their UCL spot (heh).

Actually only realised today after checking the table how badly Leipzig are doing! 15 points off 2nd place, what?
6012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🌍⚽Sportsbet AFCON prediction pool discussion thread on: January 14, 2022, 05:28:19 PM
Yeah, thanks very much for that reminder, leea, of how crap the tourney's been so far. I backed Senegal (always do) so the first win was actually a huge escape, really (Mane penalty in 97th min). Worst of all is he and Keita both tired themselves out and got nothing out of it.

Malawi's about 30 mins away from a mild upside right now, and Morocco looks headed for the usual 1-0 win heh. All specials seem to be out dead right now, good that I've avoided them all so far except for the opening day one.

Poor Comoros, they were one of my favs in qualifiers, their first tourney and haven't scored a single goal. (Hope this reverse-jinxes them to do so heh).

Aussie Open finally got the promo posted!
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/tennis/wta/australian-open-women-singles/australian-open-women-singles-2022-61546a34080b0e1dddb4f733

And it's my natural pick. Same as before (forgot which tournament) but 1 mbtc on Osaka and you get 0.25 mbtc every time she wins. So I guess it's a nice 4 wins at least I'm sure to get your money back eh? Barteigh's the favourite here but Osaka wasn't the last time I picked her either. 8.15 on boost, sweet odds I think!

Speaking of freebets, I got and played my Blackjack free bet from Senegal's Matchday 1 win. Put all 0.2mbtc chips on one blackjack hand. Hit on 12, dealer showed 10. Dealer drew a 9, and stood at 17. 0.4 mbtc added to balance, so I'm only 0.6mbtc down so far... Now waiting to see if I get the Matchday 2 rewards. Another Mane injury time penalty? Ha

6014  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Sportsbet.io ⚽ Arsenal + Southampton ⚽ Prediction Contest (Sat + Sun) on: January 14, 2022, 12:48:25 PM
Game 1:  23' 2-1 Southampton
Game 2:  23' 2-1 Spurs
6015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 14, 2022, 12:34:10 PM
Game tonight, gentlemen, new round, 17 more match days to go!

^Coutinho AND Digne for Villa! Gerrard factor at play here for sure. Both passed medicals so are eligible to play, don't know if they actually will, but Digne's distribution, and Coutinho's unlocking? United won't want them on the pitch!

Based on the performance tonight, I think caution should probably be taken. Though, I have a gut feeling, and a bet riding on a 2-0 win with Jota scoring at anytime in the match. I think that's pretty probable. Brentford going through a rough patch at the moment, and conceding a lot. Shipping 3/4 goals recently, however we're significantly weaker without Mane, and Salah so I'm actually feeling the 2-0 here.

Obviously, I haven't bothered to put in predictions since pretty much the start of the season so don't take my advice Cheesy. I'm predicting a CuJo, Henderson, and Fabinho midfield. Milner being used tonight against Arsenal pretty much confirmed this for me.
I do like your way of thinking there Welsh! Wink
Today's match just shown how vulnerable this liverpool side can be without their main players who are off playing for their respectable countries in AFCON. And Arsenal even with only playing with 10 men for the majority of the match showed this to be true.
I really thought when I saw them go down on a red card at the 24' minute they were done for. But some how the gunner boys kept them off the score sheet. Rematch on Thursday then back to basics on Sunday against the Hot Spurs.

Actually, though, both sides were going for the win before 24th min. 4 corners in that time, compared to 5 the remainder of the match. The red card spoilt the EFL game as after that, in came Holding, out went Nketiah,  so Arsenal effectively put their men in their half, sometimes Lacazette ventured up front, but in fact we spend a big portion of the game with 21 men in Arsenal's half, and even Alisson outside his box. And Liverpool simply haven't really learnt how to dismantle a team bus.

Ref didn't really have a choice but I wish Xhaka had stayed on, game would have been much more open -- as Brentford will NOT be playing like this, giving Jota and Firmino more space the way they excel, I'm still confident we can get a big win.

Oh and now I've seen Mina, Jota and Bobby together, yeah, it's definitely not working. Mina doesn't take on people like Mane does, and both Jota and Bobby are too silky and unselfish for their own good. They need a bit of... Ox selfishness, without his finishing of course haha.

6016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: HANDBALL EHF EURO 2022 Discussion thread on: January 14, 2022, 12:02:09 PM
Well they actually did comeback before the break, just 2 goals down, and at 2 stages also came the same margin, but ended up 5-goal difference as you predicted. New things I learn about handball: also 2 halves, but 30 minutes each. Old thing I didn't need to learn: I can't throw jackshit with even my strong arm.

I might martingale on underdog on next bet. Dangerous paths should never be trodden with a small bankroll though.
6017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A solo Bitcoin miner just won block 718214 reward worth 6.25 $BTC on: January 14, 2022, 08:48:36 AM
Now that's what I call a lucky winner. Didn't think the odds were THAT small actually (not that 1 in over a million is small) but I suppose this already pays out his cost, wonder how what his profit margin's been across all those 262 blocks found?

Anyone knows what the record is for solo block found with the most improbability (or lowest odds)?
6018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: HANDBALL EHF EURO 2022 Discussion thread on: January 13, 2022, 06:41:30 PM
Hey, always here to support the guys I know Wink

Last year was probably a record year for me in that I actually started following and betting on new sports. Not seriously, but enough to know a little more than I did before: American football, baseball, even MMA. Not sure I'll ever start following Handball, but it's popular where I live now and I have seen probably more handball teams than any other (apart from football) walking around in my neighbourhood (their jerseys say so).

I put money down on Croatia @5.32 despite your advice. Classic match? Then the underdog must prevail!

6020  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC has crossed $43k what's next? on: January 13, 2022, 03:19:46 PM
This isn't such a sharp bounce either, almost too weak and gradual for me to really think we're out of the frying pan just yet, and certainly not enough to say we're not headed into the fire.

Volumes still meandering, global economic outlook and inflation still not shocking enough (so external pressure is not shifting).

Think it's literally a wait to see if bull or bear tires of this.

Yeah, literally we are still in the middle ground this 2022. The December plunge has still its effects till now although it's good to see the price sharply rebounding to $43k, and I even saw it getting into $44k but it goes down again.

So we have to factor what is the global economic outlook, the Covid-19 effect is still here, many countries are still suffering specially with the new variant, so it's hard to see where the price will go.

I was just saying that this rebound isn't "sharp" enough to give me any shivers in my timbers, but I guess if it rocks your boat, good for you. Not that I'm turning my nose down at 5+% gains, but without the volume to back it up, I just see this as bears lazy to move rather than a shrinking away of.

And I wasn't saying macro factors will determine, just looking at all of it as a package. World Bank seems to suggest the first world is out of the woods on pandemic effects...
