6001  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Blockchain technology for a fair distribution of energy on: May 09, 2019, 04:00:04 AM
Do you believe that merging new technologies such as blockchain with renewable energies can take us to the next level for a fair energy distribution?
Life itself (in general) isn't fair. So, why should anyone expect a fair treatment in any deal. I don't think it's going to be. Let me tell you what will happen - some people are going to get super rich with that synergy at the expense of others. That's it.
6002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⬛⬛ BRAINBOSS MANAGEMENT SERVICES ⬛⬛ [Accepting full payment in ICO's token] on: May 08, 2019, 09:07:51 PM
I strongly applaud your move to go into bounty management. It amplifiers your knowledge of the workings around here and the modus operandi of bounty management. But I will caution that you don't let projects pay you in their ICO tokens. Most of them turn out shitcoins. I speak from experience a reputable manager here relayed to me. The least you should accept should be any altcoins already listed on CMC.

You may want to reconsider on that.
6003  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get notified when someone mentions your name on bitcointalk.! on: May 08, 2019, 08:49:03 PM
I had wondered when such a direct notification facility would be enabled in a forum like this as I have seen it in some other cryptocurrency fora not as half as big as this forum. Good a thing it's already even here but why we didn't get to hear so much of it before now is a surprise. Perhaps because it's not a Merit/Redtagging adventure and no whinning?

Anyway, there is also the bitcointalk ANN notification on telegram. It has been a great experience using that facility here @bitcointalkanns
6004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Current bounty campaigns that can make you rich? on: May 08, 2019, 07:07:42 PM
No one knows otherwise everyone would be rich by now, don't you think?

You can participate in bounty campaigns of projects with a lot of hype.
Wrong! Most projects that scam are even those with enough media hype.

I would recommend going with projects that have good potential, but not too high, that way there are not many participants. It's better to also target signature campaigns because there are less people than in the social media campaigns, therefore your share will be higher.
Another wrong move. The number of participants in a project's bounty campaigns (whether social media or signature) doesn't mean an inch it would succeed. What matters is the number of interested investors to the project.

I think currently, projects that you could never go wrong with as long as the team behind is legit are the coins with a use case (like exchanges, e.g BNB).
I dare add - and projects with already existing products
6005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best coins to invest before bullrun (if happen) on: May 08, 2019, 03:48:21 PM
Okey guys.

I know there are a lot of thread like this, but I want to know your opinions.

I have kin, pundix and xlm on my radar, but Im looking also ffor small cap coins. I already have some of nio, hbz, xspec. Which coins now are good to buy I want to invest some more.
Whatever advice you're given here by random strangers like me should be subject to you DYOR. I hope you know that so you don't quote anyone when things go awry (most times they do). That aside, I think you should look in the way of Walton, Lisk, BNB, XLM (is also a valuable one), LTC (though the price is high now), just to mention a few. These Cryptos are valuable and can stand the test of the bears.
6006  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty cheaters using reputed members accounts to register for bounty campaign on: May 08, 2019, 03:06:23 PM

How does this happen? I never registered for this bounty campaign and now my account is listed on the spreadsheet. There may be others. You may want to see if your account appears as registered for this campaign. This really pisses me off. I don't think my account was hacked though.

It's a spreadsheet. Anybody can register anything they want and apparently the bounty manager doesn't care enough to verify. I bet satoshi is doing bounties somewhere too. Such is the world of shitcoining.
I think it was LoyceV (on post #4) who suggested that everyone on the forum should put up their ETH address on their profiles and that bounty managers should use only ETH address from the profile links submitted for payment when I opened this thread on it Sept 2018 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5025197.msg45451680#msg45451680. That's a plausible solution to this whole scam bounty stuff but BM aren't keying in to that suggestion and that's why this still lingers. I believe managers of the altcoin bounty campaigns are the major cause of forum spamming.
6007  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: China’s Plan to Ban Bitcoin on: May 08, 2019, 01:53:24 PM

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) revealed its intent to eliminate the bitcoin and crypto mining sector immediately in its guidance for adjustments to industrial structure published on April 1.

The list of sectors that will be encouraged, restricted and eliminated will undergo a public consultation period until May 7 according to the report of SCMP, and as such, mining facilities in China are likely to be able to operate throughout the next month or two.
Frankly speaking, if not for the population of China the US would've unbundled them long time ago and force a democracy on them. That aside, I know majority of the people here give a damn about China just for her economic strength, nothing more. Sadly, we have seen how that supposed strength didn't play out catastrophically in 2017 when the Chinese government gave Bitcoin the boot by banning it. What happened? Nothing much, if you asked me because Bitcoin still went ahead and had its ATH that 2017. In fact, the general market cap got to over $800billion (the highest till date). So, China should just give us a break and do its worst. I am less concerned.
6008  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Has Been Hacked - Lost 7,074 BTC on: May 08, 2019, 01:23:40 PM
From the same link you posted above:

Quote
Binance will use the #SAFU fund to cover this incident in full. No user funds will be affected.

People will be withdrawing all their coins from their platform to keep their funds safe from any future hacks. Its quite surprising to see Binance been hacked with all their security measures and protocols.
It's really sad this has happened but I don't know why people should be withdrawing their coins after the hack despite the assurance that the lost coins will be covered through SAFU. I am a customer of Binance and I believe it's premature to withdraw my coins at this time. Panic withdrawal is the last thing the Binance exchange needs now. Our support for them should wax strong.
6009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop chasing the "next" bitcoin on: May 08, 2019, 12:45:19 PM
There is a reason other cryptos are tagged "altcoins" (alternative coins) while Bitcoin isn't yoked together with them. It's simply because Bitcoin is on a class of its own. There won't be another Bitcoin. A worst case scenero is that we get another coin getting a higher price than Bitcoin but that still won't make it Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a phenomenal and a pathfinder, not an imitation of any coin.
6010  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin posts seven consecutive weeks of gains on: May 07, 2019, 01:23:12 PM
I found this on trading view:

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BTCUSD/EamcMylT-Bitcoin-posts-seven-consecutive-weeks-of-gains/

So it looks like in the last 7 weeks bitcoin is posting gains. Specially in the last week wherein we have a massive jump to more than 20%. Imminent incoming bull-run? Get ready with your meme HODL. Grin
The gains are still extending and this is so refreshing, at least altcoins are coming back to life now. However, it's not a good time to buy in now at almost $6,000. It's already late and buying now will amount to chasing the price (this is a wrong approach in business). Bitcoin is headed for a slight correction from the technical analysis before continuing on the bull run.
6011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mistakes hodlers make on: May 07, 2019, 08:36:31 AM
How do you take profit for a minor rise such we have witnessed a few days now? I believe it's too early to do such, except to tether it in expectations that a crash will happen. If you take full profit now you will lose out later because whatever the crash now is just a correction. The trend for Bitcoin is bullish. Be careful selling.
6012  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I'm looking for Seller Who have huge amount of BTC(over 100,000~) on: May 07, 2019, 06:48:12 AM
Honestly, it's for a stupid reason like this that people keep opening new accounts just to spam the forum. Sometimes when we advocate that newbies shouldn't be allowed to start a thread, it affects the genuine newbies who have genuine questions and concerns. This is the OP's first and only post here and they are simply talking trash. Such order is simply ridiculous to be filled by a single individual.

EDIT: 400,000BTC... 230 million dollars It's acrually 2.3 bln ... Seems legit... Mr Bezos, or Gates, or Brin.
...Perhaps Mark Zukerberg or Donald Trump(et)
6013  Economy / Reputation / Re: How legit Negative trusted user is on DT! on: May 07, 2019, 06:08:38 AM
It's IconFirm, not ICOFirm btw - never done an ICO & never will....lol
My bad, sorry about unknowingly altering your username. Eyes can easily be deceived sometimes. ICOFirm doesn't even exist in the forum  Cheesy
The username reminds me of the ICOForum site that once advertised here last year with huge ETH payout for its signature campaign. On a lighter note, even ICOForum doesn't exist anymore. Sad the site couldn't keep its erection on  Roll Eyes
6014  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: African bitcointalk community hangout on: May 07, 2019, 03:35:33 AM
It's great seeing the African community here on the forum and am happy and willing to join the movement.
Would you mind introducing your location using the format stated in the OP? That will help keep things in proper perspective and orderly too.
6015  Economy / Exchanges / Re: A must read for every Nigerian using Luno Exchange. on: May 06, 2019, 07:21:08 PM
OP, with just 2posts to show for as a newbie your story will be very hard to believe. For posting such a vital information as alleged, it would've been more credible if it had come from a veteran member here. I am a Nigerian and I haven't heard about this except for the Paxful incidence. BTW, the BVN is a vital and private financial information no Nigerian would want to just give out like that. If this is true, that means Nigerians are going to ditch Luno without reluctance.
6016  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Could Hit The $6,000 Benchmark Soon on: May 06, 2019, 02:03:22 PM
Why is Bitcoin hitting $6,000 even debatable in the first place? It's a simple matter because we should realize that the reluctance of the market to soar has been cleared up. A fresh wave of interest is now coming into cryptocurrency and Bitcoin is normally the first point of call whenever investors interest rises. For sure, I know the market will blow past the $6,000 psyche level like it's not even there, and I see that happening this week.
6017  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Quadriga CEO death, Is it new scam in crypto on: May 06, 2019, 01:33:34 PM
Once again it proved that you cannot keep your money in exchange. It is another debate whether the CEO is faking death or he had really died.
I am feeling sorry for the people who lost money.
Why would someone want to fake their own death in a world of great technological advancement? I doubt this is likely because the CEO will be sniffed out if that were the case. However, what this has come to confirm (after we witnessed the death of another exchange CEO last year) is that exchanges aren't the best of places to keep one's Cryptos. Own your cryptos yourself by keeping them in wallets you control the Private Keys. Imagine if this happens to the CEO of Binance?
6018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Red Trusted Managers Don't Accept Red Trusted Participants on: May 06, 2019, 08:52:30 AM
A redtrust bounty manager rejecting redtrust bounty hunters is like a kettle calling pot black, no matter what reason the bounty manager get his redtrust, either by cheating bounty hunters or promoting scam bounty he's as bad as the bounty hunters with redtrust, they're both birds of the same feather
This isn't entirely correct. I have seen redtrusted members getting accepted by redtrusted managers and even managers who don't have redtrust. It would be hypocrisy if redtrusted CM don't accept redtrusted posters just by the virtue of the negative trust on their profile without clicking to read why a poster got redtrusted in the first place. Sometimes, redtrust are given for flimsy reasons other that scam it was originally set up to curb. We all know howr insensitive some DT members can be most times with the trust thingy.
6019  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to recover when you are down 90% of your portfolio? on: May 06, 2019, 07:36:57 AM
Hey guys, my friends and I were down 90% of our crypto portfolio. We bought at the highs and we bought shitcoins. Now we are still down significantly and i just want to ask if you guys have strategy to recover from this? Cheers!
With 90% down on your portfolio, there isn't much you can do except pray and hope (that's if you're the praying type) that it turns bull again. You have really cut deep into your capital without any MM (Money Management) in place. This is a bad trading strategy. In fact, it's not a strategy at all. And to say those coins are shitcoins, only the worst can happen right now because shitcoins hardly recover from a crash.
6020  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which one is better? Forex or crypto currency trading? on: May 06, 2019, 07:04:49 AM
In my youth, I tried to trade in Forex, as it seems to me, trading there is more stable and is subject to study of more types of analyzes than crypto.
I quite agree with you that the Forex trading industry is a stable one unlike the erratic crypto market. More so, Forex has a daily turnover of over 5trillion dollars while we are still battling with a mere 200billion in the crytoto market. Also, it's easier to understand where the market could be heading and there are certainly no pumps and dumps. We could talk about manipulation but that's a general problem of every business. I prefer Fx to crypto.
