Thanks for the warning... I will keep to BTC because it's way more stable than Alt-Coins.
Finally , somebody thinking right what to do with his money.

There was a lot of fuss regarding Quarkcoin in the last few days. Now, it's dropping. What do you think? Is that it for QRK? Or will it continue to grow?
There is a lot of activism about quark indeed but i haven't heard anyone stressing any interesting points about that alt. So i guess it's only hype and noise after all. Hello. Great to be on the forums. If I am not mistaken, Quark is one of the most secure cryptocoins out there. Also... name. SarTrek ftw ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I will definitely investigate this further. Unfortunately you are mistaken.

Thanks for the heads up , I wasn't around when BTC was in the ~10 USD rate and did not hold for a couple of years for it to get to 1k. I'll just keep that in mind, read this blog post in autumn 2015 and see if I go nuts then. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Look at the OP: 2 weeks10 business days ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Is this your classic $180 in 10 days? PS. No Bitmovements prediction for like 10 days? Wth am I paying you for? Get back to work. I just came back from the hospital, had a psychotic break , yelled BIIIIIIITCOINNNNNN as the police took me away. yup adam really IS crazy! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) so an update "coming soon" ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) -)))) , 2015 might be to late.

hey, noob here.
A lot of people on btc-e seem to be into ltc at the moment: but is now the best time to invest? Will the growth of ltc really be similar to that of BTC, or should we be waiting for it to drop before buying in?
Thanks!
Dont use the btc-e troll box for investment decisions. And nobody know future, so all the reply you get are personal opinions only Better. Don't use the troll box for anything. Put a stuffed teddy bear in front of it and in 30 minutes you'll see that teddy going nuts.

Hey All
My name is Jef, I'm newly registered to the forums, been following BTC for a couple years, but regrettably purchased my first couple coins in November.
I run a really cool and successful wood oven pizza place here in NYC and I've been trying to convince the owner to accept bitcoins, but I wanted some tips on point-of-sale operations. Yes, we deliver.
The easiest and mostly symbolic way would be for me to accept the BTC to my personal wallet and pay for the transaction with my own credit card, this has many pluses to me, since I am long on BTC, would collect some coins with no fees, as well get the points on my credit card, but only works when I am there. (nights off, etc)
We use a windows based POS system, and process credit cards through it directly, and I'm pretty sure they aren't working on a BTC payment solution yet.
What kind of set up are people using? I made a wallet and if anyone wants to throw a few coins in it, that might show the boss the power of the mighty BTC

Thanks and looking forward to feedback!
Missing the point there but still. Get out of newbie jail , offer your services in marketplace section , post the menu , area where you deliver and go for it. Also you can use https://bitpay.com/ for bitcoin transactions.

vendors account for the bulk of the stolen coins. Apparently the site made some feeble excuse and ceased vendor withdrawals for a week. That is a lot of escrow build up. Some social engineering with a trusted vendor or two kept things from going pear shaped too fast, and then they made off with all the escrow when the jig was up.
Before people say well it is a problem peculiar to pathetic junkies, the same thing could happen to anything in the BTC world that is very popular: An E-commerce site, a tumbler, e-wallet service, btc exchange, you name it. With sufficient incentive (a lot of btc in transit and a spike in price) the same thing could happen either on purpose or opportunistic or a hack, of course.
True it could happen to anything, but it happens more often for businesses that are illegal themselves. You have a tough time going to the police and saying, "I'm a drug dealer and was scammed out of my drug money!" I wouldn't be surprised if maybe this was some sort of a sting operation as well. The government would be smart to pull off stunts like this so as to completely destroy the faith of users in online "black marketplaces". Why bother? Greed is their ally! And Greed has no limits! Also people trying to scam others are far more inventive than the CIA will ever be.

Yeah but you have to change them into privatekeys , and this is almost impossible for the sucker wanting to buy something like that... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) )) Don't understand your comment. It sounds very easy: 1) Buy or get a list of the one million most common pass phrases and passwords. 2) Generate the one million private keys by doing PrivateKey = SHA(password) 3) Generate the one million Bitcoin addresses from the one million private keys 4) Set up to sweep all coins sent to any of these one million Bitcoin addresses into your personal wallet 5) Wait for some sucker to use one of those password/phrases and profit! Or better yet do this with two million password/phrases. Sure it would take a few hours to do but "almost impossible"? You know the chances of actually be the one that wil make the transfers? There are lots of bots monitoring that correct battery address. Will you bother to do the above? Probably no , because you know it's not worth. But lot's of newbies around here thinks that they will hit the jackpot with such a tool. An usually the people who believe in such gains and not the most techie around.

I see that these things might not have worked in the past, but eventually they will work. It's not about arbitrary choice of one ideology over another, it's just going to be a natural transition process and Bitcoin will play an important role in it.
So , things that have failed in the past and are falling right now , will work in the future because.... badgers will blossom?

Bitcoin users not affected by RBS system failure.
Of course Bitcoin users are affected by wallet hacks/hacked exchanges. But these services are only a few years old and are constantly improving.
That constantly improving part.... there were more "hacks" in the last month than during the whole year put together. Improving in what? scams , hack , runaways?

"During the Bitcoin Black Friday event on November 29, BitPay processed 6,296 bitcoin transactions in a single day, making it the most popular day in the history of bitcoin commerce" 1 second of the visa transactions?
Not fair comparsion when visa has ATMs on every corner. Bitcoin is still in very early adoption phase Yeah Bitcoin is in the adoption phase , but Bitpay goes backwards compared to it.

I do think that if brainwallets get popular, it will be rewarding for a thief to keep a list of some good phrases.
Somebody was selling 200k passkeys for the most used passwords a while ago. Huh? Passwords? I hope he didn't get any for that... such lists are easily available, aren't they. I've seen huge lists of leaked plaintext passwords, cracked md5's etc Yeah but you have to change them into privatekeys , and this is almost impossible for the sucker wanting to buy something like that... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ))

my college roommate is now a successful executive. 3 months ago he found out his wife was fxxking a black guy behind his back and his 5-year-old daughter.
since then he has kept quiet and converted as much asset as possible to about 850 bitcoins.
he just sprung the divorce on his ex-wife and now her lawyer is arguing he must have much more money than he claims to be.
the judge ordered he must turn over all his assets to give one half to his ex-wife.
does the court have right of access to his bitcoin wallet?
Sorry to hear that about your friend, Isn't the law on the man's side when it's the wife who's at fault? I thought we had "gender equality" ! He can always claim he lost his money in online gambling or something Sorry to hear? You actually believe even a bit of this crap?

a general question, can things like cryptocoins be scam or dangerous (obviously if the source is malicious, but I mean otherwise)?
edit: and how can Bosscoins be mined? what settings do I need for cgminer?

It is VERY risky for the seller to accept paypal or any form of payment that is reversible. The mining fee is very minuscule compared to the ebay and paypal fees the seller gets charged. So in my opinion, not worth it to sell on ebay... ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) What has to do the mining fee with the paypal fees?
