6021  Economy / Gambling / Re: 80 BTC bet between Micon and mrb (are BFL ASICs real?) on: February 15, 2013, 08:34:42 PM
I just have to testify...

I've been lurking along with this thread because I find the technology, software, drama, and bets interesting.

But this Josh guy who is a COO of BFL?

He comes of as a giant tool.  If I was a person who had spent money on one of these boxes in advance it would make me very uncomfortable seeing him prance around acting like this.

just my B.02

I just hope that tracking software is not the reason there is not new software in the works.

I'm sure it isn't. I don't even see how that possibly could be the case.

2)  you want us to buy ads in Cardplayer / Bluff / Pnews / etc and make a big noise in the poker world.  Remember this is a major cost - something we are looking into, something we are likely to fire on soon, but something that is not to be taken lightly.

I really think it you need a nice standalone downloadable client, or a vastly improved in-browser experience before it's worth spending significant money on advertising to regular poker players.  The flash Poker Mavens interface feels clunky and unprofessional, and probably puts a lot of people off the site.  The existence of an Android app proves that it's possible to make a client independent of the Mavens interface.  I realise it's a big job to make a nice poker client, but I also think it's crucial to do so.

I think you are probably right, but I want to say two things.

First the Poker Mavens software is like a proof of work for good flash programming.  It works about as good as it possibly could using that bloated platform.  I find the software runs smoothly and is easy to use.

Secondly, I have rather enjoyed the backroom honest feel of playing poker against people who are regulars and you get to know their game.  There is a wide variety of skill levels at seals.  There are folks who can play the game well, but there are enough bad players to make it a profitable place for a semi-skilled player to park his ass.

In some ways a nice standalone client seems like it would draw the hud using 100nl reg types who just turn the game into a mechanical exercise.

Does SwC keep hand histories?  In the future, will you guys analyze that data to find colluders or cheaters?  Would you let a third party do analysis if you guys aren't currently doing it.

Yes they do.  And anytime I've seen anyone try shenanigans Freemoney responds swiftly and well.

. . .Only gamble if you want to lose your coins.
. . . Wouldn't it be more accurate to say not to place bets that have a negative expected value as a known outcome? . . .
Where the hell do you find a gambling service that has a positive EV?
I believe he is referring to poker.  If he is being honest, then it would seem that he is a skilled player who has enough of an edge to overcome the rake.

I know this is an old post... but indeed I was referring to poker.  And I am not really very skilled as much as I am a talented sand-bagger and game selector.

What a douche. Is trying to be funny or is he really that arrogant?
Did he know that he was talking to micon? It looks like he did.

Even if BFL won't scam I wouldn't give them a quarter.

No shit... he will just give it right to Micon.

If these jokers could play poker they could make much more money than the tiddlywinks they are asking for.

It is times like this when I can hear my father echoing in my ear;  "If you have a limited budget and not much time to do something right the first time, where in the world do you think you are going to get the time and money to do it a second"?

Still have faith!  Godspeed!

This is the wild wild west of money and online poker.  If you want something more secure or reliable maybe switch to Full Tilt.

Oh wait...

But seriously I have been a player at seals for quite some time...  since the beginning I guess.  And I have known Freemoney to be honest, hardworking and dedicated to a fair, secure BTC poker site.

To be honest SWC should be proud.  They have been an honest site in a sea of shady ones.

Hackers have taken down or successfully attacked some of the biggest websites in the world...  I am sure Freemoney is hard at work trying to get this one back up and safe against this kind of attack.

6034  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stop gambling your coins unless you're playing for entertainment! on: October 18, 2012, 07:29:54 AM
The more you play, the more you're likely to lose them all. Don't play BTC gambling games to try and make you rick or "turn 0.24 btc into 0.25 btc for a nice number, they're not worth it. Only gamble if you want to lose your coins.

But gambling is the single solitary way I have made my coins.  I started from zero and have piled up dozens and dozens of BTC, all from gambling.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say not to place bets that have a negative expected value as a known outcome? If one can find bets where the expected value is generally positive should one not take those coins?

I do.
6035  Other / Off-topic / Re: Chairman Byron Micon Does it Again on: September 16, 2012, 07:11:41 PM

Probably because he claimed Micon was a bitcoin developer  Cheesy

Yes!  That MUST be it.

Because if we let a little misinformation exist even in the spirit of humor who knows where it might lead?!?!?

We might see someone with such warped morals end up disgracing Bitcoin in some way.  And lawd almighty we aren't gonna let that happen here on these esteemed forums!  No sir!  We will shut down clever jokes right away! Or err on the safe side and accuse someone of trolling when in fact they are being too subtly funny for various idiots to comprehend.

No... lets punish someone who represents one of the honest BTC businesses for being funny.  That makes sense.

Mosrite is part of a site hosting a game that a player can actually LEARN TO WIN unlike the millions of -EV gambling sites, ponzi schemes, "investment" scams, "banks (LAWL)", and just plain old trolls who defraud dozens of forum members out of their money.  Not to mention "HERO" members who do not pay their debts and ride off into the sunset on a unicorn shaped "apology".

Good thing we squash people like him down as soon as humanly possible.

No seriously:

FREE MOSRITE!!!

I want know know why Mosrite was banned for a week.  It has to be something bad right?

Did he start a ponzi scheme and defraud the community out of milllions USD in BTC?   No?

Oh, Oh, I know...  he made a giant public bet, lost and then reneged, and then had the balls to act like he was apologizing (instead of paying up?)...  No?  hmm...

Well WTF then?  Was it actually because he is from a eastern European country and doesn;t speak Englush well?  Thats kinda bigotted isn;t it??

I say:
FREE MOSRITE!!!

Blaming a poker site for your losses is a very reliable tell.
Can you please not tap the glass. Thanks.

You're right of course, but some fish are too dumb to really notice.  The oblivion runs deep and strong in the rigtard.
6039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Response on: September 10, 2012, 04:48:07 PM
As a lurker I feel there is a tremendous lack of clear understanding here.

Facts:

1.  If by some stroke of random impossibility Pirateat40 HAD actually paid out MNW would have taken EVERY SINGLE BTC sent him to the bank.  He published an address to receive coin.

2.  But MNW lost the bet and is paying NOTHING.  He claimed it was all some sort of joke.  This is not how bets work.  This is not how debts are paid.  This is how someone destroys their life, the reputation of many around them and the community in which they exist.  He has done even more damage to the image of BTC on the heels of continued negative press.

3.  He comes in here with his tail tucked and his eyes misty and MOST OF YOU ARE BUYING IT.

There is ONLY one right thing to MNW to do in this situation, and an apology and resignation is not it.  Can anyone guess what the one right thing is?

He should PAY HIS DEBT.

That is the one and only reasonable action here.  He ows the coin, and he owns coin, and a new block is going on the chain right now as we gawk at this... oh and there's another... and another.  Where are the payments?

He doesn't have all that coin?  Well that's terrible and another proof of core dishonesty, but he does have SOME coin.  He should start by paying out every bit of it.

By the way, I am not on the list of people he just ripped off.  But if you are ,shedding a tear of regret as you shrug off his debt to you when he does the apology song and dance is you falling for yet another angle from this guy.

You know... it's sad, but it is just a matter of time before clowns like this screw over the sort of people who will not take an apology in place of payment.  Then BTC will have some real bad press...

I suppose that though has not crossed MNWs mind... (of course it has... see the OP)
