Windows has nothing to do with the POST process.

If it's not making any kind of beeps or anything, first guess is your PSU is dead (even though lights are turning on). Try and swap it out with a known-good one. After that, it's real troubleshooting.

15-pin D-sub RGB video connector, commonly referred to as a "VGA connector"
In fact, I picked up 4 used LCD monitors for $60, and none of them had DVI (and they're not that old). All VGA inputs.

There's a reason they're only $60. VGA gives an abysmal picture on LCDs compared to a decent digital connection.

VGA? WTF?
More correctly known as a 15-pin D-sub RGB video connector, commonly referred to as a "VGA connector" because it was first used on ye olden VGA graphics cards (though some VGA cards used the earlier 9-pin connector). Of course, nobody uses VGA cards any more, but the connector is still the most widely supported today, which is probably why it was chosen over DVI or HDMI.

Or they could have gone with DVI-I which would have worked with DVI and HDMI as well as stuff people are pulling from dumpsters (I kid, I know there are a lot of embedded displays that are still analog RGB but still, why not move things forward?).

I always enjoy it when people say dump windows... Undecided

the majority use windows, and I fix the usual problems, but would like something that checks the computer hardware too.

You could look at some of the free rescue CDs. I know they usually contain the memtest program. Other hardware might be more difficult to diagnose. Each of the disk manufacturers have their own validation programs for example (though the one from WD seems happy to run test on other drives). dxdiag might help you with the video cards. You might want to check AMD and Intel for processor validation software.

I'd be wary about using commercial full-system testing software. Too much risk of it going out-of-date. YMMV.

He ran the site with a server that had only ONE gig.  That's the mind-boggler.  But maybe if CoinURL took the whole gig, the site would run.  I need to trim down some excess services.

1 Gig is not really all that tiny, especially for a headless server depending on what you're actually doing. If you're not swapping, adding more memory may not help much (but it never does any harm). In fact, if it's costing you $$$ per month for memory, you definitely want to profile that to see you're not paying for more than you need. Presumably you also pay for CPU also?

How was the software transferred to you? Presumably it's all custom software. First place I'd look would be the SQL. There are ways of seeing what's tying up mysql queries. Often all that's needed is an index in the right place.

Manual FTW.

Your battery probably bit it when it went low last time. Deep discharge is pretty damaging to regular car batteries. I've killed a couple myself that way.

Glad it came back down. I'd rather have it be where it's supposed to, than hovering around in a possible bubble state, no one knowing when it will pop.

+1. Stability is what is needed. Steady as she grows...

Someone running the price up to later cause a crash to discredit bitcoin?

I'm holding on tight though.
Already crashed.

Time to buy!

I went to the site but you have to sign up. That immediately excludes a whole bunch of people.

I can think of plenty of ways doctors could profit from not prescribing drugs - parents would be at their wits end and might try any treatment regardless of it's efficacy. Lobbyists and politicians can make just as much money when trying to change laws as when trying to maintain them. And pharmaceutical companies don't make most of their money from anti-psychotics, so I doubt it would bother them at all.

Doctors get quite substantial kickbacks from pharma companies for prescribing drugs. It's shocking how much. Lobbyists have to get their money from somewhere and at the moment, pharma is a big earner. And it doesn't need to be that they make most of their money from anti-psychotics, merely that they make enough to hire lobbyists and politicians.

All I'm really saying is that it could do with some scrutiny.

My point is that the relationship cannot be assumed

Yeah, but 100% - or even nearly 100% - correlation certainly is enough to warrant further study.

"Every one of these mass shooters was drinking water. And this hey don't show in the media.  YET EVERY SINGLE CASE THESE PEOPLE WERE ON FLUIDS. "

Is a 100% correlation between consuming fluids and going on a murderous rampage also enough to warrant further study?

Disproportionate representation would be the key phrase I think. As 100% of the population consume water, one would expect 100% of the mass murderers to consume water. If 10% of the population were on psycho-active meds and 10% of the mass murderers were, there wouldn't be much to consider. If 10% of the population were on meds and say 50% of the mass murderers were, it could, perhaps (probably), be argued that the murderers were more likely to be disturbed and thus more likely to be on meds and that further investigation *might* be warranted. If it's 100% of them...

To be certain, I don't think it's the meds. They may have played a role in some cases, they are certainly powerful mind-altering substances but ultimately, this kind of thing has been going on for a long time, certainly since before meds became so wantonly prescribed. It definitely should receive some kind of scrutiny. But who benefits from fewer drugs prescribed to kids except for a few peasants? Certainly not doctors, teachers, pharma companies,  lobbyists or politicians.

Nice try, but you forgot the trading fee...

Whilst I was being facetious, I was kinda making the point that the original post doesn't actually specify that the trade be BTC/USD. Mtgox deals with other currencies too, right?
Yeah, but it's specified on the form.

Ah, bait & switch :p No doubt you'll put one of those evil cookies in our web browsers while we're there too.

I still think you are an ass Cheesy

Old habits die hard, but I have come to grips with the need for a new attitude in my life. It may take some time, but it is part of the many things I want to accomplish this year.

#1 being to get your dog to wear a suit? Cheesy
