4. Bitcoin will be regulated and legal - SilkRoad closes - price goes down

Oh man yeah  Huh Huh Huh

and what if they make the drugs illegal too  Huh Huh Huh

what will you smoke before you post?

Is it not clear that SR doesn't care about 'regulations'? Am I on drugs?

Well it's not entirely true they wouldn't care about regulations. The ban on drugs actually protects their niche.
If drugs are legalized in some of their markets, then legal competitors may provide the same service cheaper and more conveniently.

Having lived several years in a country where Marijuana and hashish are legal I'll have to agree with you on the convenience but disagree on the price. Drugs are always cheaper on the blackmarket, and when I say cheaper I say at least 3x cheaper... Silk Road is expensive and only geeks that know nothing about real life will buy anything there...

Guys, did I miss something? Because I didn't see anything on the website mentioned 'paypal' except a background image called 'paypalcheckout.gif' which was a blank image actually...

It used to be on http://pocketartillery.com/purchase.htm but now it's using Google Checkout.
6025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: banned from solidcoin forum on: October 29, 2011, 01:25:34 PM
And why is this in the alt currencies forum? At most it should be in Off-Topic.

I agree anything related to ScamCoin should be in off topic.

Not because of that, only because it has nothing to do with an alt currency, it's just someone crying they got banned from other forum. Stop being a fool.
6026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: banned from solidcoin forum on: October 29, 2011, 01:01:59 PM
Joecoin,

Spacy and Psy are both SC fans, so don't worry about them

By now it's relatively old news that RS bans anyone who he disagrees with.

No, I'm not. Point me to a post where I say I like Solidcoin.
I think you are confusing me not liking douchebagexpress with me liking solidcoin.

Was just pointing out that the OP is a crybaby.

Should users banned from Bitcointalk.org open threads at other forums complainting that they were banned?

FFS...

And why is this in the alt currencies forum? At most it should be in Off-Topic.

For adepts of decentralization you guys trust MtGox too much, even after all the times they fucked up... Just don't come crying when you lose your Bitcoin/USD/EUR. Until now they had the money to cover their(and others) losses, but what will happen when the fuck up is so big that they don't have the money?
And take out your donkey goggles, they are doing their job right, just letting you see what's in front of your eyes...

But whatever, people are free to lose their money any way they want. I'm out!
6029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: someone fucked up and lost ALOT of money on: October 29, 2011, 11:25:33 AM
i deleted my post because i cant help you.

you trust a free service a lot of coins, then wondering what happend.

but you dont trust a hard working man fighting agains powerfull enemys (banks) and taking high fees from us for that.

well do what you do, i do what i do.

Wrong answer. I trust myself, and even so I must account for those times when I get high...
I haven't lost anything in mybitcoin and I don't plan on losing anything in any exchange. But others did and will.

Also, I'm not trying to get you to lose your faith on the hard working man charging you high fees. You are free to do whatever you wish, just don't be surprised when you lose Bitcoin in some service.
6030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: someone fucked up and lost ALOT of money on: October 29, 2011, 10:46:23 AM
The win-win will disappear when the fuck up is so big that it turns into a lose-lose...
What if instead of 2k coins the dude(or code) that sent these coins to no address was moving the 500k coins we all saw MtGox move when the hack happened? Would their reaction be "hey, it's just the bitcoin revenue of 250 weeks, no problem" if that was the case?

Thinking about this stuff gives me the chills.
6031  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kudos to MtGox on: October 29, 2011, 08:51:16 AM
Why is anyone surprised MtGox could give away $100 easily. They are an exchange. If they're not flat out printing their own money, they just influence the exchange rate to cover their losses.

Yeah, they can even afford to send 2k+ bitcoins to no address and cover the 17k bitcoin that bitomat.pl lost...

And this is the guy whom 90% of Bitcoin users trust their money to...  Roll Eyes

MagicalTux fucks up... AGAIN!  Grin

What will happen when they lose the income of 10 years?  Undecided

at the moment he stands 100% behind the bitcoin.

since the 17.000 Bitomat.pl story i trust mtgox deeply.
nobody asked him to pay the 17k. but he did. because he ownes and earns a lot of btc. and he is obviously looking long term.

so i dont see him running away with my mtgox balance.

It seems he's more close to LOSE the mtgox balance than run away with it.
And for some strange reason people also trusted "Tom Williams" and look what happened... doesn't matter if he was really hacked or if he scammed and run away with the money, people lost their bitcoin in the end.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

How will you deal with guys like me(and other internet marketers) who have 10k+ Facebook accounts and 10k+ Twitter accounts? And I'm not the worst out there, I know a couple guys who have 100x the accounts that I have.

I should add that all those accounts use different IP's(for the most part) and most of them are almost 2 years old and are fairly active(thank you bots).
If facebook and twitter didn't notice that they are fake accounts how will you? And don't say that you are better than them at detecting fakes, because you aren't. For every live account that I have I can assure you that at least 4 were closed due to them catching up.

Or maybe i should just STFU and take your cryptocoins... Roll Eyes
6038  Other / Off-topic / Re: DEA agent discusses Bitcoin in class today on: October 28, 2011, 10:13:40 AM
IM perfectly fine with them "cooperating" with the DEA or any other law enforcement agency. Cooperating doesnt mean handing out private data without appropriate legal request. Just explaining them how it works is a form of cooperation. For all I know, it might even be illegal for Mt Gox to give that information to the DEA or anyone else without court order.

But this is irrelevant to the discussion; anyone dealing in drugs is going to have to assume a court order will be given. Assuming anything else, and relying on Mt Gox or other exchanges to protect your privacy when you are committing crimes, thats whats naive.

Agreed. If was in any of the exchanges shoes I would also comply, probably even with informal requests for cooperation, at least if I wanted to keep my liitle unregulated financial service going Wink
I just wouldn't say it's naive to expect the exchanges to keep users anonymous, i would say it's EXTREMELY naive. Smiley
6039  Other / Off-topic / Re: DEA agent discusses Bitcoin in class today on: October 28, 2011, 09:32:47 AM
Where does it say they hand out private information without court order?
Regardless, that is not the issue, when it comes to drug trafficking or other illegal activities, its usually not a bright idea to hide behind a need for a court order.

And since when does an exchange owned by a japanese company need to comply with a US warrant?
They offered their colaboration, they went to DEA, it was not DEA who went to them to ask for help... that says it all. Or can't you add 2+2?
6040  Other / Off-topic / Re: DEA agent discusses Bitcoin in class today on: October 28, 2011, 09:04:09 AM
It would require a court order if MtGox didn't offered already to hand your head in a silver platter the minute they ask for it... And Britcoin/Intersango will do the same...
