6042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Staples Center to be renamed Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day!! on: November 17, 2021, 02:14:39 PM
And just yesterday I read that Porto FC (Portuguese serial winners and Champions League alumni) will get Binance on their jersey next month. But yeah, an actual stadium named after an exchange is pretty big a deal, even if I've never heard of that stadium before. Welcome Crypto.com even if I don't use (or really like) them.

I saw this news late last night and shared it with all of my discord groups and friends who I thought might be interested in seeing it. The funny thing is that Los Angeles Lakers fans are absolutely NOT happy about this name change.  Even though I understand the hate, as like with the Sears tower being named the Willis Tower, no one here in Chicago calls it that, however it's simply a business move so who cares at the end of the day is my thing.

A lot of fans hated it when their beloved stadiums were named Emirates (England) or Allianz (Germany). I'd definitely be against Anfield being called some company instead. Sgn of the times.
6043  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far can bitcoin price correction go? on: November 17, 2021, 01:12:29 PM
We are back to the 50 day average now and some fib level support from previous action.   It can recover from here now thats occured it may flush some of the selling.  The volume was higher on this day then most though which shows it wont be easy to undo exactly.

Big fan of MAs but 200, though have to say am even bigger "fan" of volume so yeah, the numbers behind the dip is of some concern to me. Thought that the weekend and Monday was going to turn this thing on its head but then we're seeing a lot of weakness spill out from Bitcoin into the stronger alts as well (ETH especially) so I won't be surprised if the selling appetite grows this week.

As long as we spend more days above 60 than below til Sunday, we should be all right. Until next week anyway.
6044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: November 17, 2021, 11:57:22 AM
Hah! I knew Norway Netherlands would be dull, I watched the first half and then half of the second (which is a shame as 2 goals came in last 10 minutes)... one corner the whole first half and absolutely no pace on the ball. Stadium was empty too thanks to new lockdown measures in Netherlands so it was quiet, dull, and bleh.

Good temporary riddance to internationals, seriously =p
6045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: November 17, 2021, 09:22:35 AM
Jesus rdbase. If I win that, I'm going on a bitcointalk tipping spree. Spend at least $50k just making all my forum friends happy. And then another $50k cash out, the rest put that all into Bitcoin and then scale down on work for a year and work on a personal project.

Oh and yeah, never stop talking about it of course!

I have to say though, I don't see Black Friday or anything of the drops on Promo page... sad if not eligible heh.

@ralle: I've made my peace playing Blackjack. There's always always always 1/2 players splitting everything, hitting hard 20, etc. Degens or bots, I'll never know.
6046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: November 16, 2021, 06:59:03 PM
Still not decided myself which games to watch tonight. No bets except specials all the way, but yeah, I'm thinking Netherlands-Norway will fail to live up to its billing (like Italy's game last night) so it could be one of the Balkans games I watch; Belgium-Wales otherwise without group results as is would have been my pick -- I know Wales need a draw at least to secure playoffs but no Bale and Origi instead to lead against a team who doesn't need any points.

Choices, choices.
6047  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your opinion on recent bull market, will it be over soon? on: November 16, 2021, 04:27:04 PM
Thats weekly bars and its not got that many on there to draw great significance but its enough to note each bar or rung further down we move from here does stretch the bullish argument.  We might reset in price to a lower major point like 50k.   So far every negative attempt has corrected upwards but its possible people withdraw cash from BTC generally and it would take place like that probably.

A slight yikes moment for me waking up early today actually as I'm making a sell this morning, and it's been a pretty decent while since I've had to grit down on a 5%+ loss overnight. Price of being in Bitcoin, no matter.

Not sure what to make out of the (lack of) bounce from 60,500 support though. Thought even if we did threaten that, we'd get some long-earned inertia pushing it back up but Asian trading time doesn't seem willing to fuel a recovery.
6048  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which exchange is best for someone based in the UK? on: November 16, 2021, 03:16:29 PM
Coinbase, as others have said, appears to be the safest to use, if indeed you don't mind hefty fees -- they're also easy to do tax with apparently, according to a colleague who's lived there for 3/4 years and trying various exchanges.

I've used Bitpanda for about the same number of years for SEPA and they seem to have retained withdrawals for GBP. No commissions/fees for withdrawals or sells, and a buy/sell rate that's rather much better than Coinbase -- of all the licensed and regulated exchanges that work in EU and UK, this is the only one I use (and "trust").

@examplens @Slow death Yeah, I did some affiliate stuff even back in the late 1990s and early 2000s and you could see the trend begin. Almost equal rates for traffic and leads everywhere when it all started, and then you'd get $2 leads for US emails, $1 for Europe and then rest of the world mere cents for PAID leads. It was understandable then but the bulk of online spending today isn't from US and Europe anymore... it just simply isn't captured by Visa/MC/Amex as fintech and local solutions have stopped waiting for them to catch up.
6049  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - Watford FC Main Sponsor - UFC Official Betting Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: November 16, 2021, 11:11:31 AM
The proof is watching Live or Actual RTP on Blackjack. It's far, far lower than expected RTP thanks to people who just insist on hitting on hard 20, for example.
I am ashamed to say that I rarely check the house edge and RTP amounts whenever I gamble. Yes I know, I should check them and I should know them and I should not be getting scammed in some place that has way more than what they are suggesting because that could potentially happen. However what I do not care about is the ones around here, Stake and there are few more other places that we all know and we all love, and you and I both write on the topic of as well, I have seen you there too, so a few places, max 5 places let's say. In those places I know that they are legit and not after scamming me and I know that it is not going to be long until someone figures out if they do something wrong. So I just look to enjoy myself, nothing more.

Nah, nothing to be ashamed of. It's not really important if you're just a casual gambler looking to have fun. I know some slots, for example, have very high house edge but people like them more for the big Jackpots. Same as some roulette tables, higher house edge than others but maybe people prefer the energy.

What's more important is to self-verify Provably Fair games (where possible) and RNG certifications for providers who don't have Provably Fair mechanisms you can self verify. Almost a duty to see for yourself they are as fair as they claim.

And yeah, we're both playing at the same places with almost the same providers -- for games I always prefer Provably Fair dice (or equivalent) and for sports, I just go for best value and entertainment =)
6050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is more real than money in the Bank on: November 16, 2021, 08:46:44 AM
You are absolutely right. The BTC coins that people keep on centralized exchanges or payment systems like PayPal are just CFDs, not real bitcoins. If ever a new "Nixon" is actually elected and decides to confiscate the crypto assets of all citizens, these companies will be forced to freeze funds deposited in their client's accounts because legal entities are obliged to comply with the law of his country.

I do not know exactly how "obedient" citizens can resist such aggressive activities of the authorities. The only way is to store at least half of own crypto assets on cold wallets and of course, not declare them as your property. Unlike Bitcoin, gold as a material substance can be easily seized.

To answer the topic, Bitcoin is no more real than money in the bank. Nowadays both are considered finances. Fiat money is backed by the central bank of the national government. Bitcoin has no borders and is supported by the international community. In my opinion, BTC is generally more transparent and reliable because fiat money often has an inflationary model.

I think in the context of the discussions earlier, it's pretty clear it's not so much about what's reality, but what's actual for the consumer/user.

We can talk all day about what's backing the nothingness in bank accounts, and what other things back Bitcoin -- some prefer the other, I personally prefer to back both -- but at the end of the day, it's hard to argue that having sole access to Bitcoin private keys is the only objectively provable actual ownership to money.

Money in the bank? Depending on the money, the bank, and the state governing the bank, you will have varying levels of probability, hence, varying levels of how real that money was, is, and will be for the consumer.

But woahhh. Guaranteed profitsss (super-profit) everyday!!! what is the secret? time traveling? clairvoyance? tarrot cards? Illuminati membership? sarcasm

Woah. Thanks for sharing. I don't have much money but I just calculated if I get 5% a day (let's just say I do this signal thing part time cause I'm not greedy and I like sleeping and living away from computer), with only a modest $100 outlay, I could get about $430 after a month... effectively quadrupling my bankroll every month.

Over $2 million in TEN months.

See you losers in September when I've bought my yacht, I'll come in forums with a new account and sell this strategy guaranteeing half the profits.
6052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: November 15, 2021, 09:37:36 PM
Rare night for me as I actually kept track of both international games. Precious few goals and as 78th minute came up, both were at 14 points (though at HT, Scotland was at 12, and Italy at 7, to the latter had a slow start but caught up quickly so looked the more likely to go to 21).

By 83rd min, they were both on track at points per minute, with 16 for the push and Scotland seemed content to hang on for the slim win, giving 2 quick corners to Denmark.

As it ended, however, 10+ minutes later, we have to be satisfied with the results. No long injury time favours from the ref or we might have banked 1. Thank god for corners as yellows are a rare commodity in internationals with relatively little to play for.

Soccer Blackjack #282: Northern Ireland v Italy
Corners: 15
Cards: 3
Goals: 0
TOTAL: 18 -- PUSH

Soccer Blackjack #283: Scotland v Denmark:
Corners: 16
Cards: 1
Goals: 2
TOTAL: 19 -- PUSH

Put a rare bet on Patriots actually @1.76 and was surprised the results were so one-sided. I don't follow American football much but surely that's a rare score? 45-7, wonder what the odds were for them to win every quarter or at such big spreads (if those markets even exist) but I guess dumb luck does follow me for the no-knowledge punts. Then again, Packers also blew Seahawks away 17-0 so maybe some teams just aren't cut out.

Got a bit too excited and placed the exact same amount on Watford (late game vs Leicester) in a completely unrelated sport.
6054  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $68,742.31 on: November 15, 2021, 02:40:55 PM
I hope that we get something decent, like 78k or so is a great number until end of the year, but I also hope that people do not end up selling a lot by the end of the year because their prediction didn't happen. I can't guarantee anything but I believe that it could happen if too many people are upset.

Always a win-win for me either outcome. If we get big sells, presumably big dips, and another extension for those of us not lucky enough to get in earlier to stack them up. I won't lie, I do hope for a lot higher than 78k, but I'm pretty okay waiting another entire period of 3/4 years for the next wave. Then I'll be a lot better off when 100k arrives.

But why the gloom and doom? We're in a good place =)
6055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: November 15, 2021, 01:16:21 PM
Although it is kinda like off-topic, its somehow funny.
I watched the video. You can think that the goalkeeper is a man, at least from the stature and movement. But this is also difficult to determine, because biologically you can be both. I can only think of the case of the South African female sprinter Caster Semenya a few years ago, where it is still not really clear, despite several investigations, whether she is actually a man.
I think such cases will be much more common in women's sports in the future and that the respective worldwide federations will have to create clear rules to preserve fairness.

Funny news. I don’t want to discuss gender issues (since this is offtopic and for many people is a hot topic), I’m just wondering how is this even possible - uncertainty? I remember that 20-30 years ago there were scandals with the fact that many adult football players played in the youth teams of Nigeria, but now they cannot appear out of nowhere and information about age and gender can be traced until birth.

Yeah, sorry, it is perhaps slightly off topic, but these games are actually FIFA-governed games for AFC (which Jordan and Iran are members of), which actually determine qualification into FIFA World Cup, albeit for the women's version of the tournament, for which there is, unfortunately, no correct sub-thread for me to add this comment into (or is there and I can't find it?).

The keeper has played for her whole life as a woman, of course, as I'm finding out now. Just funny that a team only challenges the decision AFTER they lose a game. Go Iran!

As a side comment, I have followed women's football recently and they have vastly, vastly improved over the past 5/10 years. Technically speaking, they're quite high quality in some countries, which wasn't the case 10 years ago, based on my admittedly limited observation.
6056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hi coiners, what would you suggest bout bitcoin amelioration? on: November 15, 2021, 01:00:42 PM
The question is, we have people underground that are working effortlessly to make sure crypto doesn't just die out or turns into money heist projects, what are they doing amidst the situation on ground? Don't y'all think they should be an improvised coining system forked out of bitcoin with high mining rates, low radiation and less expenditures all in the bid to help its growth and also profit the masses as well as miners?

There are people working tirelessly on their own ideas about crypto sustainability (not to make it sustainable environmentally but to become a system that is self-sustainable) but I personally think the vast majority of these are working only on Bitcoin itself. Take a look at the various BIPs out there on github and you'll see a healthy number of ideas proposing all sorts of improvements, upgrades, tweaks. If they're good enough, they get attention, consensus, and rigorous testing and development and they get implemented, just as Taproot eventually was just yesterday =)

Then there are also those on-the-ground people all doing their own part to encourage actual Bitcoin use on their own time and effort. Could be as radical as hacktivists believing Bitcoin can be weaponised for political change. Could be as docile as business users encouraging growth in Bitcoin City in the Netherlands. These guys are about anything but money heists =)

Just came across this fun piece of news in Asian Federation Cup women's competition (I actually follow men's AFC but this was worth reading). Jordan's national team lost to Iran and they're adamant the goalkeeper's actually a man. Their prince has demanded FIFA look into it.

I'm not going to judge until I watch the reel itself -- you can always tell when the goalie's a man =p No offence even if some people would take it; I'm sure it'll change over the years but right now, women's goalkeeping hasn't arrived at the acrobatic levels of men's!

I just go to "Live casino" and pick "Blackjack Live - Evolution Gaming" (the icon with the blond hair lady). Then I get 10 Stake exclusive blackjack tables at the top of the screen.

P.S. Does live casino doesn't always load for most of you? It only does for me maybe 1 time out of 5 so I give up quickly.
Sometimes it's a little bit slow but you should try to close your browser and even your OS or computer from time to time because it consumes large amounts of memory sometimes.

Cool, yeah that's the one I click on but the following screen doesn't load for me most of the time -- and when it does, it doesn't have anywhere for me to click. It doesn't take as much load time for me on other casinos (Evolution also) so I wonder if it's a UI thing.

I'd definitely recommend putting exclusive titles on featured pages, seems a bit weird you've to cycle through and search for these titles when they're your branded exclusives!

You're wrong man, a small difference in one rule could make a big difference in the RTP at the end. The minimum stake is also an important factor to take into account if you don't use a very large bankroll and if you are not a highly skilled blackjacker not doing any mistake. Personally, I don't think blackjack is a very simple game as you say, especially in live when you need to play very quickly, if you think this way you shouldn't really know this game. And unlike you I don't blindly trust non live and non provably fair games. Some people had been able to spot some patterns in some games and to exploit them, then it means those games were not fully random but were biased instead.

Exactly. Any game can experience a significant impact on house edge (and, therefore, RTP) with adjusted rules. Most players don't realise this, or don't even know the benchmark rules of blackjack, so when it's a Dealer stands at 16, 8 decks vs 1 deck, or different insurance payout, or win with 5 hands, stuff like that, huge difference to your edge.

The proof is watching Live or Actual RTP on Blackjack. It's far, far lower than expected RTP thanks to people who just insist on hitting on hard 20, for example.
6059  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: November 15, 2021, 07:47:22 AM
Did not see that one. What you mean like ability exchange money between accepted crypto currencies or maybe something like odds exchange where you can put up you own odds and then hope someone will take them? Both could come handy but I just want best possible sports betting experience all the other stuff is nice to have but not a deal breaker for me.

There weren't any details but I was hoping (or assuming) it would be a odds exchange. It popped up but isn't anymore there, so I guess they're not ready yet. I know all the features we asked for above are more important, but I actually have asked for this feature as well, as I really like the idea of p2p betting -- and this solves (partially) the problem of a market not available from regular sportsbetting.

Not a dealbreaker for me but I know simply having a market or the ability to create one if not available, dealbreaker for a lot of gamblers.

One more thing, Sportsbet should add some notifications for receiving free bets, sometimes I forget about them and they became wasted Cheesy

If you've a freebet, the option to use it appears on your betslip, so it's impossible to forget. If you don't see it highlighted, then you don't have a freebet... so the only way they become wasted is if you forget to login and bet Wink

I WOULD like an alert for a freebet that's about to expire though. Sometimes I stupidly collect all my Clubhouse freebets at once, or get them at the same time when winning prediction contests, and then have MANY that all expire on the same date. I've lost one or two freebets from forgetting they expire, thinking "OK lemme wait for a new special to throw them on" =)

Kinda meh night for me, even with F1 on the side. Croatians will be happy they got the full points, own goal or not. No surprises everywhere else, and can't find a good feed for the CAF games so I guess I'm crossing fingers for an exciting end to Sunday night -- Spain/Sweden disappointed last meet, so maybe they make up for it at home?

No more betting on Portugal goals for me either...
