6101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 71.2%, alts lagging behind on: September 07, 2019, 01:37:43 PM
to be clear the part i disagreed with and said "you are wrong" is not the altcoin bubble/pumps. as i said, the altcoins will pump again as many are already pumping big time and reaching big bubbles. in fact i don't even deny altcoin season and their massive bubbles. we will continue seeing a huge market wide altcoin bubble every 2 years at least.

the part i am disagreeing with was the "excess money going from bitcoin to altcoins". that simply is wrong in my experience. for starters people invest their bitcoin in altcoins not their money. and as i explained in details the altcoin pumps only fool newbies to "invest" others are just participating in them during the pumps.

There should be a reason for the investors to pump these altcoins. So what will be the reason or a possible trigger in your opinion? Back in 2017, it was the ICO boom that caused the alt prices to go up like crazy (in particular, Ethereum went up by 10,000% in 2017). I can't think of a trigger happening anytime in the next 12 months. The ICOs are dead. Good IEOs are few and far in between. And while we debate about all this, the Bitcoin dominance continues to increase, approximately at a rate of 1% per week.

The good thing for England is that they have managed to avoid the follow on... They just need 15 more runs, with two wickets in hand. IMO, Australia may end up with a lead of around 150 runs and then they will try to add another 200 runs in the second innings by the end of the day today. England might need 350+ to win, and unless some miracle happens (and some help from the umpires) it is going to be 2-1 for Australia.

A miracle has to happen for Australia to win this match if England manages to avoid the follow-on. They only need 6 more runs to avoid a follow-on with only 1 wicket in hand. Keep in mind there is only 6 sessions left. Even if AUS manage to get a mammoth lead, ENG will make sure to play the full day tomorrow. So, the chance for AUS to win is to take a wicket now before they score another 6 runs or show some miraculous bowling display tommorrow.

Well.. let me make the calculations. 66 overs remaining for today. Let's assume that the England last wicket partnership survives for another 6 overs and the lead is 180 runs. That means 60 overs left for today. Let's assume Australia scores at a rate of 4 runs per over. In order to get a target of 380 runs, they need to score another 200 runs in 50 overs. That means England needs to face Starc & Co. for 10 overs today and 90 overs tomorrow. And I don't think that they have the capability to survive for 100 overs against Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins.

Grin

We need to have AI robots as umpires in cricket, not these biased human beings.

It is frustrating actually. They got the advantage two times. First during the world cup final and then during the 3rd test when the LBW appeal was turned down despite the ball hitting the middle stump.

Edit: England blasted out for 301, and the Australian lead is 196 runs. 63 overs remaining today.

In one of the most crucial matches in Group L, France is currently leading against Lithuania by 10 points with 20 minutes to go. And so far, United States is looking comfortable against Greece. They have built a lead of 9 points (29-20) and may end up winning this match quite comfortably. That means that Greece would remain at the bottom of Group K.

6105  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency users statistics on: September 07, 2019, 11:47:28 AM
Well people from poor countries are mostly late to get some infomation about something like this.
And most of the time they couldn't risk their money if their isn't too much info about it.
Most of the time they would just invest when it is already well known or being trusted by many people.
For now, I think the spread of information around the world is evenly distributed only the technology spread is not yet equitable. as long as these poor countries are connected to the internet, I think they receive the same information as developed countries.

Lol.. this look quite ridiculous. Do you want to say that the Bitcoin adoption in the United States is lower than the world wide average? And even more ridiculous is the figure for Japan, which is regarded by many as the country with the maximum Bitcoin penetration. I don't know much about South Africa, but to say that countries like Nigeria and Ghana have more Bitcoin users (in %) compared to US and Japan is pure BS.
6106  Economy / Economics / Re: Will BTC defeated in 2019? on: September 07, 2019, 11:25:37 AM
Check the charts for Bitcoin so far this year and you will get the answer. I am not just talking about the exchange rates. Consider trade volumes, number of users, mining hash rate and market share. In every metric, Bitcoin is miles ahead of its competitors. And don't forget the upcoming block reward halving, which is due in less than an year from now.
6107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be too quick to judge ICOs on: September 07, 2019, 11:15:04 AM
I could agree with you if most of the projects showed any development progress after the ICO. But usually I see the opposite. After entering the stock exchange, the coin falls and the project disappears from the market in a couple of years.

This is exactly why I was saying that an ICO should be conducted only after a minimum of 75% of the development is completed. Most of the ICOs go to the market even before any of the real development is started. In many cases, all they have is an "idea". The investors pour in their hard earned money for this "idea", and once the team is able to pocket it, they will vanish in seconds.
6108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance(BNB) best alt coin ! on: September 07, 2019, 10:54:58 AM
ROFL... Good to see some people still having confidence in BNB, despite the coin losing more than one-third of its value during the last three months. My advice is to continue what you are doing. Try to pump the coin as much as you can, as only a few days are left before the US users will be excluded from the main platform. Don't even think that most of the users will simply migrate to their US platform, as that one requires stringent KYC verification.
6109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Altcoins ever come back again on: September 07, 2019, 10:48:10 AM
-snip-
Altcoin is currently still the choice of investors for long-term investment, maybe we only see the price going down, but some altcoins have good ideas such as agricultural and food products, if we look at Bitcoin it is very different from altcoin prices, because Bitcoin has a low price high and at that time BTC also had a price decline and then rose again, Bitcoin halving will make the price of BTC rise and we see whether altcoin will also rise.

Please justify your statement with some proof.

How can you say that altcoins are preferred above Bitcoins for long-term investment, when there is very little demand for altcoins out there? I am not denying the fact that some of the altcoins have very good ideas. But that is all they have. In 99% of the cases, they haven't converted this "idea" in to a digital product that can be used by the ordinary people.
6110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 07, 2019, 10:23:49 AM
Now I am curious... Actually I am sure you have not watched a single match of this WC and somewhere you saw the part with the injuries and just pasted it here. Athinaiou has been injured since before the tournament but Sloukas is available and playing dude... Shit-posting all the way, yessssss

Did I said that Sloukas was not playing? I said that he was injured. I was suggesting that his injury might not have healed properly and his performance may not be up to the mark. I haven't watched any of the Greece matches, because I am not a big fan of Greece. The first Greek match that I am going to watch is today's match against the US. But I do know that Sloukas is playing in this world cup.
6111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Brandt: 99% of Altcoins Will Be Forgotten in Five Years on: September 07, 2019, 10:15:21 AM
I would agree with the figure of 99%. Apart from Bitcoin, coinmarketcap currently lists a total of 2,646 different cryptocurrencies. If you take in to account the tokens and altcoins that are not listed there (including the dormant and dead ones), then I believe that the list will easily cross 10,000. 1% of that means somewhere around 100 different cryptocurrencies. And in the long term, that looks like a fair number for me.

I think the guy has done a good analysis, he covers altcoins in a five-year span, that will leave us 100 to 200 coins in the market that has real supporters and investors are backing up, and that's the real picture, this analysis clearly depicts how messed up altcoins is now, investors are had enough of this altcoins.

200 is still too big for me. My range would be anywhere from 25 to 100 (for the five-year span as suggested by you). Because we don't have too many sub-categories among the alts. We have cryptos for various purposes, such as file sharing, smart contracts, complete anonymity.etc. IMO, there may be at the most two dozen categories. IMO, one to four coins from each of these types will survive in the long term.
6112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 07, 2019, 10:08:18 AM
Afghanistan leading by 355, with 3 wickets and more than two days remaining. I really doubt whether Bangladesh will be able to chase down anything above 300, as AFG has gone with just one pacer and three spinners (4, if you include Mohammad Nabi as well). They will prove deadly during the next two days. Bangladesh made a huge mistake by making the pitch too much spin-friendly. Ultimately, it backfired on them. You can't do that when you have Rashid Khan on the opposing side. This was something India did when Dhoni was the captain. But the strategy was abandoned after they faced problems overseas.
6113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 07, 2019, 10:01:54 AM
It's been touted as "NBA MVP" vs "USA" by the media. No doubt that this will be a tough test for the US team. For sure Giannis will have his hands full here, but we know that he can really score. But I still see the US winning this one by 5 or 6 points.

Overall, they have the talents to overcome such a phenomenal talent as Antetokounmpo. If Greece wanted to get an upset Giannis needs a lot of help.

I won't be taking the risk and betting in favor of Greece. IMO, the United States is going to win this match. Their performance against Turkey was horrible, but so was the performance of Greece against Brazil. The difference is that US was able to win the match somehow, but Greece lost theirs. Also, although Giannis Antetokounmpo is a great player, he would find it tough against the US if he gets little support from the other players. Especially with injuries to Kostas Sloukas and Giannis Athinaiou.

Excellent performance by Malinga. But one of the wickets was from a clear no-ball, which the third umpire refused to call. Other three wickets were excellent ones. He is 36 years old... and I expect him to play international cricket for max 1-2 years more. Sri Lanka is rapidly running out of batting and bowling options. They are no longer producing quality batsmen like Sangakkara or Jayasurya, or spinners like Muralitharan.

6116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Altcoins ever come back again on: September 06, 2019, 04:52:19 PM
To put it simply, currently there is no room for 10,000 different cryptocurrencies in the market. At the most a few dozen may survive into the distant future. The problem with altcoins is that, for each niche or unique purpose, you have hundreds of coins. So the user base and the market capitalization gets fragmented. As a result of this, either all of them will die out, or the best coin for each niche will survive in the long run.
6117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is USDT Tether safe? on: September 06, 2019, 04:45:57 PM
As Lisa Abramowicz of Bloomberg Radio reports, William Quigley, both the CEO of WAX and the Co-founder of Tether, believes that having the exact amount of USD reserves to back USDT is not that important. In fact, what is important is that investors believe it is worth $1.

In case any of this is true, then we should avoid USDT like plague. I would never trust any of the stablecoins. They are diametrically opposite to the idea of decentralized cryptocurrencies. Linking the cryptocurrency technology with fiat currency is never going to work. Take Bitcoin for example. The advantage with Bitcoin is that you are capable of storing your money by yourself. That is not applicable for USDT. You may be holding the tokens, but the real money is being held by someone else.
6118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 06, 2019, 04:40:00 PM
All of a sudden, the match has become interesting once more. The last wicket partnership has taken New Zealand from 52/9 to 88/9. They need 38 more from just 25 balls. It is still a Herculean task, but theoretically possible.

Edit: Sri Lanka won the match by 37 runs. Seth Rance was trapped leg before wicket by Lakshan Sandakan. Tim Southee tried really hard (28 not out), but the asking rate was too much for him.
6119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 06, 2019, 04:20:38 PM
What I am most excited about the match up in world cup is Serbia and Australia. Australia could be the most likely team to beat this giant. As they are in the power rankings. USA is the third in this power ranking and Australia even beat USA in a scrimmage which holds a good advantage. But, Serbia and Australia could be a battle we all wanted to see.

Serbia vs Australia? The chances are low. Because Serbia is in Group J and Australia is in Group L. During the quarter-finals, teams from these two groups will not face each other. Such a chance will arise only in the semi-finals. But that said, I am not sure whether Australia will qualify for the QF. They need to beat Lithuania, which is a very strong team. And even if they beat Lithuania and become the second team to qualify from Group L, they will be facing the United States in the QF.

what would be the first thing to do and how to buy bitcoin where to hold which currency want to get and how do you plan to do that  Roll Eyes

Oh god... the time machine again.. When I first joined this forum three years back, there were a lot of such threads. Everyone needs to understand that time machine is a piece of fiction and it will never materialize. And even if a time machine is available, why go back to 2013? Why can't you go back to 2009 and mine all those coins? And why don't you go back to the 1990s, before the dot com boom? The list may go on endlessly.
