the heavily leveraged shorters that stand to go bankrupt.

Never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Bitcoin could go to zero or $100k I would never be under water.

Me neither, but I don't gamble on margin. From your comments I figured you don't either.

I was directing my post at the margin gamblers.

I learned about margin gambling during my days at Goodwin Harris & Co., members of the Toronto Stock Exchange as it was called in those days (1968).

You work in a carnival, you get to see how the carnies shake down the rubes.

BTC already exploded 2 years ago... oh and a year ago....

Don't forget the biggest explosion (bubble?) of them all, 3.5 years ago, the one to which the smaller bubbles of 2013 pale in comparison.
6124  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: December 12, 2014, 05:44:51 PM
what if they ban the bitcoin?

Who and how?

In case you hadn't noticed, Bitcoin is a global, decentralized, open-source, peer-to-peer protocol.

The only way to enforce a "ban" would be to shut down the internet.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

No crash to double digits nor rally to 5 digits overnight?

Still going sideways?

I can live with that. Cheers.
6126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2014, 04:58:09 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see that the modest price increase from last night's Microsoft news is still holding (for now) and we're continuing sideways.

Slow and steady wins the race.
6127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2014, 10:58:53 AM
I missed the last couple of days and it seems that the price is still in the same area despite all the "action"

Yawn.

I think i even saw some reddit "sit tight and hold" but did not bother to check the price, i imagined it crushed to 200$ or something, but nope, 10$ down, 10$ up. Zzzzz

Exactly. My words when checking in this morning were, "Ho hum".

That's it for me. I'm off to bed.

I need my beauty sleep and the crack of noon is barely 6 hours away.

'Night all.

"Ahem... academic interest only."

Hahahhahahahahaah

Yeah... raise the conversation, a level...  Cheesy

Now that's an even more flattering picture.  Grin

You'd think the dude fucked some of your moms the way some of you are slinging insults at him.

No insults from me bro.

I like to have fun with all the bears/trolls.

There's no denying his credentials... Stanford, PARC, etc.

I just think he dropped the ball with Bitcoin and is too stubborn to admit it.

Just waiting for a reply to my trollpost

Quit being so mean.

Here's a much more flattering picture.

Cut the guy some slack. He's just trying to salvage some academic credibility after badmouthing Bitcoin for so long. Can't blame him for that.

Notice the spiffy bow tie he wore for the occasion. It compliments his blue jeans quite nicely.  Cheesy
6131  Economy / Speculation / Re: Paypall , Ebay , Microsft , Sony , .. on: December 11, 2014, 08:00:46 AM
google or paypal

Why would anyone give money to Google? Their browser and OS suck, their search engine has turned to shit in recent years, and their Android program store is unnecessary. If you need Android programs, just find and download APK files to transfer to your Android device for installation.

Getting a Google account is silly. They want too much information. Anonymity is a basic human right.
6132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2014, 07:43:28 AM
Well, well, well.

Just got back from going out for a few drinks and I see we had a pleasant little price rise.

Microsoft, eh? Pity.

I would never voluntarily give them money. The only time since WinME that they've stung me has been when I've been forced to buy their OS because it was bundled with hardware I wanted. I figure after ripping me off for WinME, WinVista, and Win8, they owe me and all my friends free software for life.

Still waiting for Ebay/Paypal to accept Bitcoin. That I would actually use on a regular basis. Waiting a week to send money from my bank account to Paypal has prevented me from making numerous Ebay purchases. I do not and absolutely will not own some sleazy credit card. Card-free for 20 years. Just say no.

Let's hope this little bump up doesn't disappear immediately. It's obviously much too early to start posting trains and rockets but at least it should slow down the sinking ship and burning house shots.

Me? I'm glad I bought a few more coins while they were under CAD400 (USD350). Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the train.

Still going sideways.

6134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 09, 2014, 07:34:19 PM
There is another way to evade this risk, and it's to spread your investment money over many different assets, but how many of you do that?

Hopefully most sensible adult posters do.

I recall a poll here in the Speculation sub-forum about what percentage of people's net worth was in Bitcoin. Only a few were all or mostly in Bitcoin, I seem to recall.

I've got more in antique musical instruments alone than in Bitcoin but I expect my bitcoins to be worth a lot more eventually. The one asset I'm thin in is fiat currency in the bank but most of my revenues are in fiat so that's not an issue.

Blitz is one of the ''ancients'' here. He speaks wisely. Even if I don't fully agree with him, I'd advise you to carefully listen to him rather than trolls like LambCrap or others.

Indeed, even if he was a little off on the famous "no more triple digits in 2013" prediction he repeated so often 2 summers ago.  Smiley

No, I'm not gonna dig through his old posts. LOL

Shroomskit already did enough of that. Cheesy

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Where'd you dig that up from? Spend hours dredging through my post history? Get a life, noob.

Hahahahaha

I don't usually make predictions and you can see why.

Obviously thoughts of an ATH by mid-summer were a little premature, despite being the majority opinion here at the time.

Did you notice I used the words "probably" and "possibly"? Just in case English isn't your first language, the words mean that I wasn't saying we would reach the suggested prices, but rather that I was speculating that we may have been on the way to reaching them.

While most of us may have been a little ahead of ourselves at that time, don't completely discount the possibility of reaching 5 digits some time next year, possibly even by next May.

I'll give you the benefit of doubt and assume you're just a bumbling noob and not another ridiculous troll.

Dude, seriously. Podyx just criticized my assessment on the market earlier when I was roughly 60 cents off. You, by contrast, were thousands of dollars off. That's worthy of repeat shaming. I mean, geez, if 60 cents gets a comment... thousands of dollars... sorry, but really?

Reading comprehension not that great?

I didn't say that bitcoins would be worth thousands. Echoing the popular sentiment of the time (seven freaking months ago), I suggested the possibility/probability of that happening.

My post was more about some foolish noob digging up some obscure ancient post to use as a "rebuttal" to my post about accumulating. Sigh.

My ignore list is very short, just 2 extremely obnoxious and arrogant cretins, and despite your obvious troll attempts in the past, I hadn't considered putting you on it, but you're wearing my patience thin.

I'll say the same thing I told the noob who apparently wasted a great deal of time (or was extremely lucky) sifting through my post history to try to find something they could call me on...

Get a life.

Keep accumulating.

This old chestnut again?

I'll say the same as I did 6 months ago or a month ago.

We'll probably reach our old ATH by mid summer, and hit anywhere from $7000 to $12,000 before crashing down to $2000-$2500, possibly before year's end.

We should be above $10,000 for good by this time next year.

Unless something comes along to break Bitcoin before then.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

But up or down the HODLer gets to play another day whilst the 20x shorter will run out of luck sooner or later.

This is very true. HODLing is the way to keep it going IMHO. But then again, maybe it's just me. Roll Eyes

No, it's not just you.

Other than for the sheer amusement of watching the bears' exhilaration and angst with every tiny movement up or down, I follow this thread to figure out when to buy the dips.

I've got an eye on that ask wall at Virtex (down to 738 from 800 coins) hoping to buy a couple more coins before it's eaten or pulled.

Gotta finish my coffee and head down the street to the ATM.

Keep accumulating.

...you ignoramous.  You took a few classes in internet memes, but you probably failed out of college because you were such an idiot....

This is why you're wasting your time trying to reason with her. Logic isn't her strong suit.

It's probably better if you just put her on ignore as just about everyone else has.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

It's picnic day I see. LOL

800 coin ask wall at Virtex makes things interesting.
