6121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can not see what is a Bitcoin Wallet on: July 19, 2016, 05:50:44 PM
I see it now.
A wallet, then, is a software that handle one or more keys,
Yes

splitting your money between them?
No. The Bitcoin you receive at one address is not split nor sent to another address in your wallet. When you want to spend Bitcoin from your wallet, it will choose which addresses to spend from.

If I have a key in a paper and want to transfer to someone, how would I do that?
You could import that key into a wallet client and send the Bitcoin to the other person's address. Or you could give the other person that piece of paper with the key and have them import the address and send the funds to themselves.

I would advise to use blockchain.info.
I highly advise that you NOT use blockchain.info. For starters, they are a web wallet, which is less secure than a desktop wallet. Secondly blockchain.info has a long history of bad security practices, service problems, and customer support issues. I advise you to not use blockchain.info nor any other web wallet. Rather you should use a desktop client such as Bitcoin Core, Armory, or Electrum.

There is no such thing as a "coin" in Bitcoin. The Bitcoins you see are just values, there is no object of a Bitcoin.

How would you identify each coin?

"There is no such thing as a "coin" in Bitcoin. The Bitcoins you see are just values, there is no object of a Bitcoin."

When did I say there was a "coin" in Bitcoin? o.O
You didn't, but many people who propose ideas based on Bitcoin that have a concept of a "coin" assume that there is an object called a Bitcoin and base their ideas off of that. Thus I thought it was necessary to point this out.

"How would you identify each coin?"

I already said how: "The coins as well as holding the public/private key can also then hold an ID."
Who assigns the ID? What prevents me from creating a fake coin? What if I want to blacklist all the coins that I know have been used illegally?

A Bitcoin wallet is a collection of Bitcoin addresses and their corresponding keys. There are several wallet clients which generate the addresses and allow you to easily send and receive Bitcoin and view your transaction history.

A paper wallet is a piece of paper which contains addresses (usually only 1 though) and their corresponding keys. This is usually printed out and kept in a safe place for long term storage of Bitcoin.

Well Bitcoin Wallet is a 34 digit alphanumeric characters starts with number 1 and 3.
This is a common misconception. That is an ADDRESS not a WALLET. An address is different from a wallet. A wallet contains multiple addresses and the corresponding public and private keys.
6125  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth it?... on: July 19, 2016, 05:16:17 PM
No. Your electricity must be much much lower in order to make any sort of profit and an S3 does not provide enough hash power. You will need several Th/s in order to see any significant revenue from mining.

6127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2 Questions on: July 19, 2016, 01:46:58 PM
If you are using Bitcoin Core 0.12.0 or 0.12.1, you can go to Help > Debug Window and click on the Console tab. Then type in the box at the bottom
Code:
abandontransaction aaddeaa91cc7ed77b58044fa274cd6abaa0dd46b90f42a5bf05ab052775e0f28
If it doesn't give you an error, you should then be able to respend the inputs spent by that transaction.

So I did that, and didn't get an error.  The full amount is back on the main screen.  The transaction is still there though, is it always going to be there?  I haven't resent anything and now I'm not even sure I want to or even should.  Is there any way to clear the transaction from the wallet?

Thanks.
It should remove itself once the transaction drops from the network, although I'm not entirely sure. To clear it from the wallet you need to use -zapwallettxes. It's okay to leave it there and it won't affect your wallet.
6128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the "4" prefix? on: July 19, 2016, 01:27:37 PM
I don't know what is wrong, but it is clearly a bug in the blockchain parser software.
6129  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Paper wallet printed on: July 19, 2016, 12:57:10 PM
Even without encryption, the private key is pretty safe. All you have to do is to first make sure that your computer is secure, free from any sort of viruses or hacks, then print the paper wallet using a website like BitAddress.org. The wallet should remain just fine. BTW, don't just gift the empty paper wallet, it'd be worthless. Tongue

I understand this ... but if I print a priv key in a banknote, how I can make trustable also for another user, a "third person"?

for example there is a lot of coins sell with some btc inside. how yo can trust the seller if he don't have back up of your priv key in the coins you buy?
You can't.
6130  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.93.3 dowloading Blockchain since days! on: July 19, 2016, 12:51:14 PM
First of all, use Armory 0.94.1, not 0.93.3. You can download it from https://github.com/goatpig/BitcoinArmory/releases/tag/v0.94.1. Next, go to File > Settings and uncheck "Let Armory run Bitcoin-Core run in the background". Shutdown Armory. Then start Bitcoin Core and let it finish syncing. Then start Armory.
6131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the "4" prefix? on: July 19, 2016, 11:59:39 AM
There is no "4" prefix.

which blockchain parser?
6132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another newbie! have a few questions on: July 19, 2016, 12:57:48 AM
If needed, there are some more to choose from https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet and choose WEB
Some details are also provided there.
Weird that the blockchain wallet isn't listed.

You are right my friend realized that there was no blockchain.info. Is there a problem between blockchain and bitcoin.org so it is not included as an option blockchain wallet? : D Maybe if anyone knows can share here. But really very strange, large companies such as blockchain not listed there.
It actually is not strange at all that blockchain.info is not listed there. They have strict criteria for listing wallets on the site to ensure that users have supported and secure wallet software. You can see the criteria here: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org#wallets. Blockchain.info fails some of those and thus is not listed. Many users have found concerning issues with their security, especially the use of a weak RNG. Many times security issues have been pointed out but those issues were not addresses for a long time. Their service typically has strange bugs that have caused issues in the past. Many of those bugs are simple bugs that should have been easily found and solved but were not. Their customer support is also pretty bad.

This is the PR that removed bc.i from bitcoin.org: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/pull/663 with explanations of why it was removed. Some of the issues identified have been fixed since then but many of Bitcoin experts and long time users still consider blockchain.info to be pretty bad.

Edit:  Apparently it bitcoin.org not bitcoin.com, if at bitcoin.com blockchain there. Please check here https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet?category=web
Yes, Bitcoin.org and Bitcoin.com are very different, run by different people, and have different purposes. Please don't mix them up.
6133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2 Questions on: July 18, 2016, 09:25:51 PM
Sorry, here is the wallet screenshot:

Can you show the transactions tab? That will have the full transaction list. There may be other transactions that spent the large transactions.

So with the zero fee, I just have to wait it out? Sad

If you do get an error, start Bitcoin Core with the -zapwallettxes option. To do that, right click the shortcut for Bitcoin Core and choose "Properties". Then in the box labeled "Target", go all the way to the right in that box, past all of what is already there. Then add -zapwallettxes. Make sure there is a space between that and what is already in the box. Then click OK and double click the shortcut to start Bitcoin Core. When it is fully started, you can edit the shortcut again and remove what you just added.

So when you respend them, make sure that you include a fee. To get a good fee, click the "Choose" button next to "Transaction Fee" on the send tab and choose the radio button for "Recommended". Then slide the slider all the way to the right to "fast". That will get you a high enough fee to have the transaction confirm quickly.
6134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2 Questions on: July 18, 2016, 09:10:39 PM
Questions:
The  "Available", "Pending", and "Total" in the wallet only show the smaller received coins, the other coins aren't included, even though they appear in the transaction list.  Why are they not there?
Interesting, that shouldn't happen. You should see them in Available.

How long do these send transactions take now?  I don't remember transactions taking this long years ago when I started.  Edit - here is the transaction: https://blockchain.info/address/1PzED2NsMKbWbJ946FbA9VKy1D5seSTJU9

Thanks!
First of all, that is not a transaction, that is an address. Secondly, you did not include a transaction fee, so it will take a long time to confirm, if it does at all.

What version of Bitcoin Core are you using? It should never allow a zero fee transaction.
6135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: wallet with payment disappeared, help!!! on: July 18, 2016, 08:47:02 PM
Somehow lost wallet 1P7TSk8m1znmE157dJyAQiaKFqY1Yx8WFv
It was number 4

2. Unfortunately it did not help Sad

If you do not have a backup of your wallet, it is most likely that you have lost that address and will not be able to retrieve the Bitcoin.

Try starting Bitcoin Core with the -salvagewallet option. You do the same thing as you did for rescanning but instead of -rescan you do -salvagewallet.

Can you please provide the debug.log file?
6136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How I can confirm a 0 fee transaction on: July 18, 2016, 07:22:08 PM
I've never understood how you choose a pool you want to confirm or is it just randomly gets confirmed by a pool. When one confirmation doesnt confirm and the next and so on what is to say the 5th confirmation will confirm. Who decides if a pool's ownders do not decide than who? That really confuses me cause theoretically a transaction can get stuck forever by this mechanism.
The pool software decides whether they want to include your transaction in a block. This software can be tweaked to include or exclude certain transactions.
6137  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: "This transaction has a none standard input" What does it mean? on: July 18, 2016, 07:21:03 PM
I use coinapult as my hot wallet and whenever i send bitcoins from this wallet. I see in all my transactions on blockchain.info there is a warning message like "This transaction has a none standard input" in front of estimated confirmation time.
Can anyone explain what does it mean? The tx however, gets confirmed eventually always.
It means just that, the transaction is non standard. The most likely reason for this is that the signature uses a High S value which is non standard. This means that coinapult is not staying up to date with the latest standards.
but that surely does not mean that my wallet can be compromised or vulnerable to hack?
No, it does not. Your wallet cannot be hacked just because the transactions it produces are non-standard. It just means that your transactions may take longer to confirm or may not confirm at all.

Trust is not moderated. Talk to the people who gave you negative trust.
6139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A way to identify wallet running in bitcoind on: July 17, 2016, 10:16:03 PM
You could create a new address and label it "identity" for each wallet. That would be your wallet identified. Then use the rpc command
Code:
getaddressesbyaccount "identity"
to get the address and determine which wallet is which.
6140  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Paper wallet printed on: July 17, 2016, 08:14:13 PM
Check out https://www.bitaddress.org. You can use the site to create paper wallets. You can and should download the code for the site from github: https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org and then use it on an offline machine when you actually want to make a paper wallet.
