In week 22, Real Sociedad only drew against a team that is in the middle of the La Liga standings and that is Celta Vigo, while based on head to head at least Real Sociedad has good dominance when playing against Celta Vigo.
But unfortunately, at this moment Real Sociedad were basically on top form but failed to beat Celta Vigo. Obviously that is a bad result I think, because on paper Real Sociedad can get a convincing victory in that match.
For a while I thought that Real Sociedad could be the team that surprises us all, but in the end it is the same two teams dominating La Liga. The gap between Barcelona, Madrid and then the rest is just too big. In order for La Liga to stay exciting until the very last moment it usually needs a strong Atletico Madrid. It is still fun to follow the league and see how Barcelona is doing against Real Madrid, but that becomes boring as soon as one of those two teams falters, which is now the case. On the one hand I am happy for Barcelona to play a solid season, but on the other hand I would prefer to see Real Madrid get closer one more time for the sake of having more fun observing the battle. It was really fun when they were quite close, but now that Barcelona has widen its pace I don't think there is still Much thing to talk about cuz at it stands, Barca is already at the avenue of Escape. It won't be easy to loose up to 4 matches in a row, and even if that is possible, real Madrid will not meet up. I quest it will be wise if Madrid focus on the EUFA champion league. as for La liga, the champion has already been known. |

Very true, EPL teams performance is not tough like in the previous season. Manchester City is the only team that is making little effort in their performance this season .Leipzig is not an easy which I doubt if Manchester City can defeat them, the game might end up in draws because Manchester City have be finding it difficult to increase their goals. So many chances from Manchester City but didn't work out to be goals. Leipzig performance is impressive for equalising the game Surprisingly City could not win without Kelvin. I agree with Ahli38 that Real Madrid has chances to catch up with Barça, and disagree with swogerino because there is no need of 3 consecutive loses at all (which is highly unlikely): every draw for Barcelona, if Madrid wins, cuts the difference in 2 points. In 16 matchdays (the ones remaining) chances are that they manage to do it. In fact, a few months ago the situation was the opposite, and look how easily Barcelona has managed to overtake Madrid.
If there weren't a personal meeting ahead where Real Madrid has an iron opportunity to score three points at the same time and deprive Barcelona of three points, thus reducing the gap to 5 points, I would consider that the championship is already over. Potter has struggled to find form from his players but he is expected to turn it around for the better in the remainder of the season. I actually asked why he wasn't fired immediately, but in the end there is a lot to consider before making decision. But I think the situation at Chelsea is like a ticking time bomb that is about to explode.
Exactly my thoughts as well. There have been a lot of cries for the sack and removal of Potter. Admittedly, the cries for his removal is somewhat understandable given the circumstances and poor and performance. Chelsea has been under a bad spell at the moment and a lot of fans think that the sack of Potter would do the job. It isn’t an easy task for a manager as well. Having been given the job last September, it would be nice if he’s given some time fully get in sync with the team. Besides, there is a lot to consider when letting go of a coach and searching for a new one. Potter may still not be able to turn things around this season. If chelsea assigns a new coach, they may still not Have a good result. Even if they may have, it will not be long they will still go back on poor form. Well the best bet for Chelsea is to allow Potter manage the team till the end of the season, though the club is not doing well now in term of scoring goals, personally I will attribute the club failure partly to ill luck and hurriedly assembled new players who might needed some time to blend together to form a formidable squad, recall Chelsea signed a lot of players this January and having watched most of their matches both UCL and EPL the team isn't performing badly in term of possession only their final third has not been very effective, however once the team resume their winning mentality they would surely remain consistent.
The only option really has to replace Potter, I know he still wants to prove to the fans but if it continues with bad results then this is not a good choice to keep a coach who really doesn't match the capacity Chelsea wants. Actually, there is no reason for Chelsea to be in a bad zone because they have quality players. Only one thing was out of sync, namely Potter was not able to develop the skills of the players. So that it looks monotonous, with not much aggression in the midst of intense competition. Some time ago it was Ole of Manchester United and he was later replaced and Manchester United has started getting good results. As Bayern Munich dropped points in their last match. So I thought Union Berlin would get full points against Schalke. And the points will go to the top of the table. Manchester United has lost only one game out of eleven home games so far. Since Barcelona has to win it it's either through luck in a penalty shootout or they need a pretty good day to take this away from United.
Nantes vs. Juventus will be rough for Juventus I think. Nantes must be unbelievably motivated to brighten the final result of their season. If they make it against Juventus it is already a huge success for them. They are also still in the Coup de France and they are relatively safe from relegation in Ligue 1. The draw in Italy is now one big step to a great success story for them. I expect a strong fight from them.
Winning against all those other teams are understandable, winning against Barcelona is different. I am not saying United will lose or anything like that, they could still end up being the winners, but at the same time I am saying that this will be harder than almost all of those home games, because they are facing a team that by all accounts should have been in UCL and not europa, they are a very good team. United of course got better as well and they are very good but that doesn't change the fact that both teams will face very tough opponents and we have no idea how it will end. I still root for Barcelona obviously, but have to say it's equal powers fighting. Manchester is prepared and can be able to win any team they face with the great form of Bruno and Rashford. Also having Casemiro in the midfield is a great boast to Manchester United squad. To go or not to go? Chelsea risks relegation with their consistent poor performance week after week if Potter stays. Alot of fans have said things like "he is not ready for the job," "Chelsea needs a top manager that can salvage the situation," "he is a mid-table manager,". The fans are so impatient, and I understand. However, they should remember that Arsenal's Arteta faced the same situation at the beginning of his management in Arsenal but look at him now and the team he has built up. Todd wants to avoid the legacy of Ibrahimovic in sacking coaches at every slight mistakes. I think he wants to undoubtedly give Potter chances to the end prove himself to the end and I am in support that he should be given to next season to use the new signings to do good works.
