6141  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam alert : Do NOT INVEST in Genesis Mining on: June 11, 2017, 07:55:36 PM
My 2 satoshis :

I bought a XMR contract a few months ago on Genesis. It's still doing "good". Nothing incredible, but the ROI is here (I transfer my earnings to exchange sites).
It's a 2 year contract, without maintenance fees (so they can't discard it). I paid $80 and earn about $15 a month.

(and I don't even post an affiliate link Cheesy )

Are you counting your profits by the value of XMR or by the sole percentage of the price you paid for the contract?
Monero went up by $20 this month, so it's obvious your returns will be good, but had the price fallen I'm quite sure the contract would turn to shit pretty fast. GM are known for closing unprofitable contracts before their expiration dates. It's a gamble.
6142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I asking too much? on: June 11, 2017, 07:17:21 PM
I wish someone would establish an exchange on international waters or on a private island and that exchange wouldn't require any verification or personal details. No government would be able to influence it and force it to share the identities or IPs of its users. If someone finds a way to make such an independent exchange he's going to make millions on it.

This makes no sense, absolutely

If someone establishes an exchange in the international waters or on a private island, it can be easily hijacked by terrorists or their likes (or some rogue government agencies). Apart from that, top exchanges need the fastest Internet available today to remain competitive. I don't really know how you are going to achieve that on an isolated island. Further, such exchanges as Bitfinex are already mostly virtual, i.e. they exist entirely in cyberspace. Indeed, they have some physical presence since they still need processing capacity, read they need servers and other equipment as well as staff, but this is by far a better approach
But I think they still can be forced to give up personal data of their customers.
If they register in a certain country they have to obey its laws and can be pressured by the government to shut down. I hope there are still countries that value people's privacy and wouldn't do it, maybe those countries will become a safe haven for Bitcoin exchanges.

The problem is i think it is impossible to make these sort of free exchanges as it could break all the trade regulations and even if a crime is reported there is nothing you can do and with it if you are not following the basics, even i like to have my privacy but i do not mind providing my verification details as long as my privacy is maintained.
The main issue is you never know if if it will be maintained.
I am ok with verifying myself for security reasons, but I'm not ok with sharing these with government agencies.
6143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: can gambling give you lessons in life? on: June 11, 2017, 07:10:45 PM
Yes it can. Everything we do in life teaches us something and mistakes teach us harder and better than anything else.
Try losing a lot of money on a single bet and you'll remember it for the rest of your life.
If you're a card player gambling will teach you to stay calm, calculate the odds and manage your money. If you're playing in a real casino you'll have to also get rid of all twitches and facial expressions that could allow others to read you.
6144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: From faucet to thousands on: June 11, 2017, 07:05:14 PM
It's a complete waste of time to double up faucets to the point of you being able to withdraw it. It is practically impossible to do.

Why do you guys think every gambling site has a faucet? Why do they give away free money? Because the gambling sites know that there is less than 1% chance to cash that out.
You got it right and those faucet are designed on that way which they do really tend to put up small amounts so that most players would able to try their game can hardly cashout no matter how hard they would try to grow those faucet amount knowing that they are very very small to consider and think off that you can make it thousands.
That's right. Sadly faucets are only good for testing games and they give you that extra bit for fun. It's nice to click on something while you're playing, takes your mind off the game for a while, is another feature on site that you can use to promote it. Faucets are more of a marketing feature than a real money maker.
6145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear miners on: June 10, 2017, 06:58:44 PM
What happened to that consensus, I've seen talks about a conference where miners supposedly agreed to activate segwit in a few months time. I think they still have time to do it because that was going on like a month ago, but obviously they're taking their time. Did they change their minds and it won't happen? Any news?

6147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scary tweet I've just read! on: June 10, 2017, 06:45:42 PM
Vitalik has too much time on his hands and too much money. I know Russian trolling is well known and respected around the world but come on, I thought he was better than this. Also, it's about time to change that old picture, he looks like a 15yo.
6148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing casino games online a good idea? on: June 10, 2017, 06:40:41 PM
Yes it is a good idea. I don't understand why somebody would come to a gambling forum that revolves around online casinos and ask if it's a good idea. Those hundreds of gamblers that write here every day are the proof that it is Cheesy I don't mind gambling even if it leads to addiction. So does smoking and drinking and we're still doing it.
6149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: June 10, 2017, 06:37:06 PM
@pereira4 It is time that McGregor show some guts to defend his belts,do you really know that he has not defended any one of his titles inside and outside of the UFC and you will never be considered as a champion if you really cannot defend your belt. The fight against Mayweather will make him millions and i am sure he might retire after the match without defending any of his belts. Cheesy
He doesn't need the money, have you seen how much he has? He's rolling in a Lambo, has bodyguards like a normal celebrity. Most of his fame didn't come from the fights, but the way he acts outside the ring. Charities, visiting fans at home, all that cocky talk and confidence that people love. He's set for life even if he quits now.
6150  Other / Off-topic / Re: How invested are you into Cryptocurrency? on: June 10, 2017, 06:25:40 PM
I have about 80% of all my money in Bitcoin. I'm not counting the value of all my possessions like a house or a car, just cash that would otherwise lie on a savings account or under the bed. I think that's a lot but with great risk comes great reward Grin
Having money under you bed Cheesy lol. you might be some Arab oil rich millionaire to have those sort of money to invest in bitcoin and altcoins  . Cheesy If i check under my bed,i could find some cents and so is the case with many people who live a normal life. I am not a big time investor but invest in some promising ICO.
I'm not rich, I just don't trust banks or any government institutions for that matter so I prefer to keep my money under my bed. Not literally but there are many options: a hidden safe, a storage box in the floor, you know what i mean Wink I have to say I'm much wealthier since I started investing in cryptocurrencies. How are your ICOs going? Any luck?
6151  Economy / Economics / Re: Think about this: Is crypto a bubble.... or is fiat a bubble ? on: June 09, 2017, 09:39:13 PM
Fiat isn't in a bubble it's dying eaten by a cancer. That cancer is inflation.
Every year you hold your fiat there's less and less that you can buy with it. Bitcoin on the other hand... Just look at the charts Cool
6152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wouldn't this Monaco card mean you would be taxed? on: June 09, 2017, 09:31:16 PM
Technically, yes. In any country where selling bitcoins is considered capital gains this would be the case. Technically you are also supposed to claim any gifts you receive too. Did you claim that $100 your Grandma gave you for your birthday?
A dead law, that's what it is. You are supposed to report everything, but have you heard about someone who found money lying on the pavement and reported it as gains? Or that couple hundred they got babysitting neighbor's kids.
Cash payments never were and never will be reported by sane people. Undeclared work or black economy has been around forever.
6153  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-06-09] US Army Guardsmen Convicted for Bitcoin Credit Card Fraud on: June 09, 2017, 09:23:40 PM
Another negative news for bitcoin. But least they are caught. Bottom line is bitcoin just like fiat can be used in illegal ways to commit crimes. They can take advantage of bitcoin as pseudo-anonymous and they taught that they can't be traced because they used bitcoin. But they are wrong. Sentences has been handed already. And what makes it worst is that the people who committed crimes is a US Army National Guard.
It's not negative for Bitcoin. Do you honestly consider that negative? Should we start saying that every single CC or ATM theft out there is negative for fiat money? That would be fun, we wouldn't be talking about anything else, because a CC/ATM fraud happens every hour.
National guard is nothing special, anyone can do it. For most of them it's only a part-time job.
6154  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST play/invest, level up, win and have fun! on: June 08, 2017, 10:10:20 PM
Honestly I can hardly think about a competition that does not favor players with big budgets. Even "profit to wagered ratio" - players can create alt accounts until they have an alt that beats the others...
Some favor them more and some less. For example a wagering competition gives people more equal chances. Sure, if you're unlucky you'll lose everything fast and won't have a chance to wager more while a rich player will be able to keep going, but at least you have a chance against high rollers.
6155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How test a new gambling site? on: June 08, 2017, 10:07:00 PM
Check if the site is using provably fair service and if you don't know how to do it, read about how it works first and at least check if you're getting a fresh seed every time.
Read their TOS and check if it's not copied from another site. Play some games for free to test them if that option is available before you deposit anything.
Look for information online and find if someone had experience with the site.

6157  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: June 04, 2017, 08:09:39 PM
It had reduced the unemployment at a very large scale. Now people will not search for the jobs on different government offices but now people will start their own businesses with bitcoin and they will be the boss of their own companies because of bitcoin.
How many people are you talking about? Are you aware that the number of Bitcoin businesses worldwide is so small that it's not even 0.5%? How many people do you think will start their own Bitcoin company and become their own boss this year? 1000? 2000? It's such an insignificant number compared even to the number of unemployed people in a single country! If you start comparing it to the total number of unemployed worldwide you'll see how much of a "reduction" it will be.
6158  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Start Up Exchange Costs on: June 04, 2017, 08:04:22 PM
You asked for it OP, when you posted that you want to invest. If you went on into the street and started screaming "I've got money and I want to invest in a business!" who do you think would respond? Would you trust these people who come to you saying they need money and have a business idea?
As an investor you have to review these offers as you did. Lesson learned, keep trying.
6159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold-plated Bitcoin bearer bar on: June 04, 2017, 07:56:49 PM
Was there ever a mintage number of the non-denominational ones released?
Did you just dig out a 6 year old thread? That's necromancy at its finest!
6160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using low fees? on: June 04, 2017, 07:50:33 PM
I always use 30 satoshi per byte and i'm letting Jihan BU to pay the rest on my behalf.   Viabtc's free service does the job very well. Cool

Paying >200satoshi/byte started to hurt me very badly. I have to move my coins from one address to another from time to time because those small incomes which i collect from here and there create many inputs in time and i don't want to look at a 100$ fee in some day.

I prefer to pay more than wait and spam their captcha every hour until I can finally push through all the other captcha solvers.
If doing it is worth paying $1 more to you, be my guest. To me it's almost nothing, so I don't mind spending 50c or 1$ more here and there. My time is worth more.
