6141  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-31]Bitcoin Scam Orchestrator, Who Stole Nearly $68 Mln, Beaten to Death on: September 04, 2019, 04:22:43 PM
The biggest comedy is that now all those coins are lost forever. His partners are claiming that the password was known only to him, and he refused to reveal it even after many days of torture. I am not sure about it, but in case what they are saying is true, then there is no way to recover those coins. That is unless he had kept the backup in some bank locker or safe deposit box.
6142  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-27] Craig Wright loses Kleiman case—billions in Bitcoin awarded to Klei on: September 03, 2019, 06:12:37 PM
In my opinion, it's time for Craig Wright to give up claims in the name of Satoshi Nakamoto. He went too far and drove himself into a corner. He probably does not have access to Satoshi Nakamoto's bitcoins. The amount that he was obliged to pay is unbearable for the average person. However, it is interesting what he will do next. With any scenario, Craig Wright loses.

The most possible scenario is that Craig Wright would file an appeal against this decision in the higher courts. He can also argue that the American courts don't have jurisdiction over this. A third option is to declare bankruptcy.  Grin

But I don't think that he'll ever give up claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto. Because it gives him a claim on BTC980,000. At current rates, they are worth more than $10 billion. And god knows how much they'll be worth in the future.
6143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scammer caught tortured and killed. on: September 03, 2019, 06:05:39 PM
This incident happened in my country (India). This guy apparently cheated more than 50,000 individuals with his Bitcoin ponzi scheme. Not satisfied with the profits, he then tried to con his associates as well and this proved to be his undoing. Now the entire team have their lives ruined. The leader is dead, and the others will spend at least a few decades in the overcrowded and disease-infected prisons of India.
6144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IEO is popular, what do you think? Will you participate? on: September 03, 2019, 05:58:11 PM
So far you can see that it seems that the IEO trend has subsided, only a few IEOs on top exchanges are profitable, but participants have to spin the lottery with a very low chance of winning, and also bear the risk of holding exchange's token. Currently only a new trend following IEO can bring new inflow to the market.

This was expected right? Exchanges such as Binance charge huge amounts as listing fee, and therefore only serious projects with good teams get listed there. And if you check Binance, only one or two IEOs would be listed at a time. But in the smaller exchanges, the listing fee is low and scammers are abundant. In many of the exchanges, as many as two dozen projects are listed at the same time.
6145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: September 03, 2019, 05:52:02 PM
Now the prices have fallen much further, despite the prevalence of the IEOs. Even the support level of 0.018 was breached quite easily. And it didn't took much time to reach the current level of 0.0169. Outlook is tragic for Ethereum holders. I would expect the majority of the holders to convert most of their tokens to either BTC or Tether.
6146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 70.5%, alts lagging behind on: September 03, 2019, 05:47:36 PM
When I created this thread, the dominance was hovering around 60%. In two months, it has increased to 70%. And check the latest exchange rates of the established alts. They are bleeding like anything:

Ethereum: BTC0.016933
Ripple: 2,467 Satoshis
Litecoin: BTC0.006476
Monero: BTC0.007
Stellar: 593 Satoshis
Cardano: 425 Satoshis
Tron: 151 Satoshis

I can't even remember the last time when I saw prices like these...
6147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 03, 2019, 05:09:12 PM
So far this is the most intense game in this world cup. All I can see these past few days is always a blown out game especially for the team I rooted most. I think US will have a hard time this world cup don't you think? I mean, don't get me wrong they are all great players that are playing in the NBA but it would be still a different story if NBA superstars will play the world cup. But, that shouldn't be the case, we should support those who are willing to play. Now it's time for me to bandwagon this since PH has been out of the game lol. Let's go USA!

The Americans gave first priority to the NBA and send a second string side to the world cup. And to tell the truth, NBA seems more competitive than the world cup. We don't get to see too many one sided matches in the NBA. But then, the purpose of the world cup is different. The aim is to globalize the game and highlight its diversity.
6148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What withdrawal fee do you consider as fair in gambling sites? on: September 03, 2019, 04:03:05 PM
There's no way I would play in a gambling site with BTC0.001 withdrawal fee per transaction, that's too huge, even higher than most exchange with only BTC0.0005 withdrawal fee, I know they are in different industry but I just like to compare.

Anyway, you are promoting sportsbet, I think they have the best withdrawal process which are instant and free, that's why I like to play in that site.
But for other sites, since I don't really gamble much expect sports betting, I would be okay with a withdrawal fee within the range of BTC0.0001 to 0.0002.

It is not very ethical for the gambling sites to charge BTC0.001 as withdrawal fee for a single transaction, as the current rates are 1/20th of that amount for priority transactions and 1/100th of that for normal transactions. How can they charge 100 times that of the prevailing rates? Also, most of the sites do bulk transactions, which reduce the manpower and time needed to process these withdrawals.
6149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 03, 2019, 03:58:53 PM
They did not choose any man of the series even though the series got over. They could have chosen Rahane who performed well in both matches.

Virat is now on the 2nd position and Smith after a year ban is on the first with just 1 point more. Hope Virat can perform better against SA as his performance was not so consistent in both matches.

At least against weak sides such as West Indies, other batsmen like Ajinkya Rahane are contributing and so they are not overly dependent on Virat Kohli. But I don't know what will happen against South Africa, as they have a good pace attack. Perhaps the Indian batsmen can do better, as flat subcontinental pitches don't offer much seam movement and bounce.
6150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 03, 2019, 03:51:40 PM
New Zealand looks to be in lots of trouble now. They have lost 3 wickets and still need more than 100 runs in 14 overs. The good news for NZ is that Akila Dananjaya has only one over left (he had taken all the three wickets fallen so far). Tom Bruce and de Grandhomme are trying to build a partnership, but they need to be a bit cautious now.
6151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 03, 2019, 03:35:19 PM
Who is watching USA vs Turkey right now?

The game is intense and close. Turkey is doing it surprisingly and they aren't really far from the scores with USA. I haven't followed the track of Turkey but these guys are good, I'm impressed.

Unreal scenes from the United States vs Turkey match. No one expected it to be so close. The match went in to overtime, and somehow US won the match by a whisker. But I would say one thing after watching the match... I would no longer rate US as the favorites to win the tournament. IMO, this world cup would be won by Serbia.
6152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 01, 2019, 04:38:18 PM
And then you wake up from the dream and see India won by 300+ Runs.  Smiley
There is no Ben strokes in WI team who can do this miracle.

ROFL...

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
If turnips were bayonets, I'd wear one by my side.
. (William Camden 1551–1623).

There is no Ben Stokes in the West Indies team, but they had players such as Russel and Pollard. But unfortunately they are more interested participating the T20 leagues around the world than representing the national side. So for now, West Indies can humbly take whatever thrashing they receive from India and use the TV revenues from this series to build grass-roots cricket.
6153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 01, 2019, 04:22:28 PM
India could wrap up WI again very easily and could have an inning in hand. :-(
Okay, what could be his explanation here?

Well... let me guess. One possible explanation here:

You do not take the follow-on and a lot of gamblers lose their money.  Wink

Another one here:

So Kohli is using this opportunity to enhance his batting stats, for himself as well as for the other team members.
It is going to be good for the TV broadcasters as well.

But as I can see, things didn't played out as planned. India struggling at 9/1 after 6 overs. Mayank Agarwal trapped in front of the wickets by Kemar Roach for just 4 runs. Roach, with that 5 kg gold chain around his neck is literally frying the Indian batsmen. Rahul almost dragged one back to his stumps.
6154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 01, 2019, 01:59:52 PM
The way that I see for them to win before the start of the game is a good defense and at the same time, best offense especially in the threes but its the opposite. Poor defense and poor offense and include the 9 turnovers of Blatche. I understand that Italy is ranked 13 but if the threes of Philippines went in, the lead should be lower than what happened. Anyway, feel sorry for them. It will be worst if they will also lost to Angola in Sept 4. PH vs. Serbia?? I will just gamble in Serbia Cheesy.

Well.. rather than aiming for the 3s, my opinion is that they should try to get closer to the basket. They might have thought that they may stand a 50% chance of winning points with the farther shoots. But that just didn't happened. IMO, you need to go with an attacking mindset. Italy may be a higher ranking side, but they are not invincible. So there was no need to be overly defensive.

BTW, today also we had a bunch of one-sided matches. Lithuania won by 50+ points against Senegal, and Greece had an easy victory over Montenegro. Today's last two matches are ongoing and both France and US are comfortably ahead of their rivals. So no surprises today.
6155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 01, 2019, 01:53:01 PM
SL opted to bat first. Both the team is playing under two bowlers Malinga and Southee. I think both teams will perform good, the pitch is in favor of batsman. The match is getting delayed for raining.

It has started now. Lockie Ferguson is not playing due to a thumb injury. I just hope that it is not serious. The match is taking place in the city of Kandy, which is a bit far away from Colombo. Nice to see provincial cities being given their due. Anyway, so far so good for Sri Lanka. Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera have given them a slow, but solid start. There is no Boult/Ferguson, so they should be looking for a target in excess of 180.
6156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: beware of IEO SCAM on: September 01, 2019, 01:11:40 PM
There is another possibility that could have happened during the CYBR IEO, which many users would have overlooked. Shawn Key himself admits that there was a bulk order on the first day, which took the proportion of sold tokens from less than 1% to over 50%. There is a real chance that this was done by an individual user, and he might have withdrawn his investment just before the closure of the IEO, as none of the other whales were investing in the listing.

If this was the case, then we can't really blame Coineal.
6157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: September 01, 2019, 01:01:12 PM
Maybe there will be a decrease in eth prices for the next few days, but this is one way for investors to get more eth, because I think eth prices will go up after bitcoin halving
Am not seeing only ethereum to gain price surge, but all Altcoins will definitely have a good price after the Bitcoin halving next year 2020. The possibility of ethereum to skyrocket with such price is actually feasible and can be realize if the team settle their inner differences.

Could you please tell me why do you think that the Bitcoin block reward halving in 2020 would boost the exchange rate of altcoins, including Ethereum? After next year's block reward halving,I am expecting a major upswing in the exchange rates of Bitcoin. But I can't understand how altcoins such as Ethereum will use this opportunity to push upward.
6158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IEO becomes successful = ETH will moon? on: September 01, 2019, 12:55:43 PM
This claim was made more than one and half months back, and during this duration the exchange rate of Ethereum went down from 0.025 BTC per coin to 0.0178 BTC per coin. The writing in the wall is clear. In order to survive as a major cryptocurrency, Ethereum needs a major boost. Unfortunately for that coin, this boost from the IEOs is not quite enough.
6159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next year will determine the fate of altcoins on: September 01, 2019, 12:14:06 PM
The digital money world has seen many high points and low points, and there are unquestionably more to come. presently the most recent Crypto Bear Market is finished and Bull run has started. As it were, digital currency markets are warming up once more. This makes it a decent time to put more money into tokens and coins before price rise excessively high, altcoins will take a new form this time around, leaving the unprepared out of the scene

The bull run which you are talking about is true with regards to Bitcoin only. The other coins are not in good condition right now. Their exchange rates (against both Bitcoin and the USD) continues to drop with every passing week. I would say that for the altcoins, the bear phase is not yet over. And I am unsure whether they will ever be able to climb back to their previous ATH levels.
6160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Stake vs Fixed bounty allocation on: September 01, 2019, 12:04:45 PM
With stake allocation you can get more tokens based on the stake and how many participants join the bounty but that's that, the reason why I choose fixed allocation over stake is because right from the start you've know how much tokens you will get and the fact is merely looking or comparing bounties from one to another fixed bounty allocation performs better, they pays most times and no single participants is left out, what do you guys say about this?

I don't understand how this fixed reward system is going to work. In case you are taking part in the signature bounty then in the stake method, the shares are calculated according to your forum rank and number of posts per week. Now if you replace this system with fixed payments, then everyone will be getting equal payments regardless of their forum rank and contribution, which is not fair.
