Asking Aluna.social and Alvin on twitter I discovered there will be a swap for all EQT holders to ALN tokens 2:1 no announced date yet but should be in Q3 more information on Aluna.social whitepaper: http://aluna.social/WP.pdf

Great to know about the swap for EQT holders! Didn't know about that and just checked the whitepaper now.

POS is definitely evolving and has some clear advantages in relation to POW, nevertheless it also have cons... For me the major downsides of POS are the fact that POS can easily convert into an oligarchy, and that the investment has almost no commitment as you can sell your coins at any moment and just forget about it... on POW you have a structure, hardware... so the network will have a different value... Anyway, I think the future will reside on hydryb systems that include these two... or maybe on a different protocol, from the new ones under testing...
that was what I was talking about. POS sometimes just becomes "riches getting richer" while POW has more game theory, you can't simply game it everytime. of course having more money will help but it's not always the case.

totally, it's a mix of game theory, good analysis and a bit of luck. there's no sure way to say a project will succeed but after analysing tons of projects you get a feeling. it can be quite profitable when you hit a homerun. Well this home run you talk about is something that can last for years. You invest some money, or some of your time, and than you just wait for years, it can be success or failure, but that we will know only after couple years. It`s a game, it`s gambling, you need to choose your investment and you need to pick the right one among so many of them, it`s impossible to invest in all of them. I wonder what OP is mining now, is there any interesting project that he would like to recommend. it really depends. Last year Ravencoin (RVN) went up more than 200% in a couple of days GIN made a x10 in a couple of months. not necessarily years. <...>
Yeah I feel that too on bounty hunting on making an article, I got a gist like you said, which one will make a good profit etc. Not a miner obviously, but I tried mining in the past. Rent some hash and mining some hype stuff on twitter, it ended not so bad actually, but not looking good either, I mean I barely breakeven. definitely possible. and sometimes it's a shot onthe dark as well.

I think it may highly depends on the amount of coins you hold because my returns are more like 3-5% a month.
can anybody confirm what does precompute do? I click the button here on the wallet but nothing happens
https://veil-project.com/blog/veil-precompute/All there for your reading pleasure. Basically you should be able to spend zerocoins faster. When it comes to staking, it should also help you lower your rate of orphans if your CPU is on the lower end. awesome, thank you so much! for some reason mine is not turned on by default and nothing happens when I click it should I change .conf to precompute=1 or there is some other way?

i just see the picture for new wallet it on new site like a surprise
didnt notice it lol looks really good better then any other wallet out there shard has done more things then top coins out there and still doing a lot it'll be great to have it listed on at least one more exchange any consideration on that by the team?
|
|
|

I totally disagree that POS or masternodes or dPOS are better than POW. POS is only an auxiliary element for greater network security. And so often do POW+POS. Pure POS coins are much more at risk of 51% attack, as the cost of such an attack is much lower than the probability of capturing 51% of the POW power on a large network. To do this, you need to buy for real money huge computing power and electricity. But to attack POS, you only need to buy coins in a period of low prices. In addition, in the POS very uneven distribution of coins and whales can always get coins "out of the air" only because once bought very cheap a lot of coins. This situation is almost in all POS networks and their varieties with masternodes or dPOS. The most fair algorithm for the distribution is POW. Also, the price of POW coins initially has a minimum formed from the cost of mining. The price of POS coins is formed only from speculation and marketing.
actually, can you name one POS project that had a 51% attack? Still, I agree that mixing POW + POS (like Decred let's say) it's usually one of the best ways to go. but not for this reason. specially because POS is usually : "riches gets richer".
