To begin with: I love Bitcoin. I think it is desperately needed.

However, I think in a perfect world, one humanity may or may not be able to create one wouldn't need it. It would become dormant. I if we can reach it, we are at least extremely far from it and would consider Bitcoin at least an important tool for now.

Do you agree?
If we're in a perfect world, we wouldn't need any form of currency and money at all.

Try to delete the contents of the whole bitcoin folder, and then paste the new blockchain and the wallet.dat in again if you haven't done this yet. Try using the 0.5.3.1 client too.

If every thing else fails, dump your keys from the wallet.dat file by using pywallet : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34028.0
and running the command pywallet.py -dumpwallet
Import them into https://blockchain.info/wallet/ and immediately use the blockchain.info service to send all your btc to your new wallet.(As you can download the transactions if you didn't update the wallet.dat file with your old one)

sorry! i THOUGHT it was easy    but it isn't: it still doesn't work!
...after i made what u told me (and what i founded on internet) the wallet shows my count and my past transactions, but it doesn't connect to the
bitcoin network...

in fact saids: 0 active connections on the bitcoin network.....

it tryes to synchronize with the blocks but it doesn't really begin..

i tryed re installing and replacing data files... but still don't work...

now in pc i'm tring sichonyzing a new wallet (hours and hours), to change just the wallet.dat after the synchronisation...
in another pc i'm downloading the blockchain that seems to be faster

i also tryed making port mapping to my pc in my subnet on the port 8333 but still doesn't work.........

i don't know if the ways i'm taking will resolve something... but untill i don't resolve the problem.. i can't (fisically) send your btc (of course;)

...

If you want to download the blockchain faster, go http://eu1.bitcoincharts.com/blockchain/
And download the latest one (3-21). After downloading just unzip it in the bitcoin folder. I find this faster then redownloading via the client. Just paste your old wallet.dat file in after done(remember to backup it, it contains the keys to your btc !!). You might also need to update your client if it still can't synchronize (use 0.5.3.1, not 0.6 as its still unstable .

There's no rush in sending me the btc, just don't panic when something goes wrong as you can't lose your coins if you have copies of your wallet.dat file on hand.  Cheesy

I have 400 MH/s!

I'm sure some will be able to beat that?

I started with 21 MH/s on an old Asus 9000 or something.  Keep on trucking!
I did start with a CPU at almost 2 MH/s, so you both certainly beat me for the record.
Now I'm running happily at 2 GH/s, still measly as compared to those big boys  Undecided
6191  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 21, 2012, 03:36:56 PM
weather its a botnet or not it really does not matter

the big problem here (for Bitcoin) is the fact that they are not accepting any transactions in their blocks. It does not really matter if its a zombie botnet or a group of former KGB members with a ASIC farm humming in the basement of the Kremlin.

We need to put pressure on these folks any way we can, at least until the Bitcoin developers come up with a either a way to enforce transactions (not sure if this is even possible) or come up with some way to get rogue miners like this to want to accept them. Its obvious they care nothing about the Bitcoin network but they certainly care about making money and thats where we need to hit them.

To me this is really simple. Make it worth while for miners to accept your transactions. If you pay a higher transaction fee more mining power will play nice and compete to pull in your transaction.

Have a look at the last 10 blocks. None of them have total fee that gets close to 0.1 BTC. Compare that to the 50 BTC block reward.

If I for some reason had access to a huge set of idle computers and wanted them to mine for me I'd have to develop/maintain/update software that effectively turns it into a distributed system. My software would be easier to develop/manage (and more stealthy) if I didn't have to push pending transactions around. With the current fees it is simply not worth the extra hassle.

In other words: If I had 10% of the total mining power, what would be my incentive to pull transactions into my block? Nothing. Don't give me that "I'll do it for the greater good" crap, this is not how the world works. The other 90% make sure that my coins can be spent and keep their value.

Unless the fees increase dramatically(or the block rewards is halved a couple of times), this would hold true.

More than a month ago I sent some PM and emails to bitscalper about getting back my funds. Of course I got no reply.
After finding this announcement I sent some PM to MiningBuddy.  And it seems that MiningBuddy handles this case the very same as bitscalper - by simple not answering.
That behavior leads to a simple question: Is this announcement for real or is MiningBuddy and bitscalper the same person?

Your post leads me to a simple question: Are you retarded or are you retarded?

I myself lost only a marginal test amount. Actually I wasted more on bitlotto Wink
I write here, to let others know. See, MiningBuddy make it looking like everything will be resolved, but I highly doubt this.
Still, will I try to get it back? Of course.

He has already stated that he will start the refunds after he has completed the audit and so.

You copied the wrong file.
Your wallet(that is your bitcoins) is located in

Windows:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin

Back up this folder, especially the wallet.dat file found inside this folder FIRST.

Copy and paste this whole folder into another windows pc @:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\

Start the bitcoin program at the second pc, and you'll see your coins there.

If you stil have any problems, (especially how to migrate your coins to Debian system), read this:

6200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin shares = 1 block on: March 20, 2012, 04:52:48 PM
IMO, as SC is derived from bitcoin, there's no specific amount of shares that would correlate to 1 block. Just like Bitcoin, you can find a block even from a single share or not find any from 1b shares.
