Have a couple 1200w psu's coming from Sidehack and working on getting picopsu and riser rig package from Finsky. Found a good outlet for 1500w common slot psu's that will work with Sidehack breakout boards. Figure as long as I manage power then 1500w psu will handle 8x 1080 ti well. Am I wrong?
I don't see a single 1500 watt power supply handling more than about 5 1080 ti at one time reliably (6 if they are FE cards *maybe* but that's pushing the supply to the limit). You MIGHT be able to push it to 6 (aftermarket) or 7 (FE) with a fairly hefty lowered TDP limit on all the cards but keep in mind that the cards run at 100% TDP and normal BIOS voltage when the rig first boots up, for a few secs at least, 'till whatever you're using to SET the lowered TDP kicks in - definitely put a sleep of at least 10 and preferably 20-30 seconds on the first line of your "start up the miner .bat file" to give everything else time to get going and initiated. 1500 + 1200 should handle 8 comfortably - 1500 for 5 cards, 1200 for the other 3 cards + the rest of the system. Don't believe the "1080 Ti is a 250 watt TDP card" information - a LOT of the aftermarket cards set the TDP quite a bit higher to give them the OVERHEAD to be able to set those high "factory overclocks", and even on GAMING loads (which don't load up a GPU nearly as consistantly as mining does) a lot of review sites quote some of the 1080 ti cards as being MEASURED at 290 watts or so usage. listen to QuintLeo - I have 6 that's been connected to my killowatt for the past 3 days and the draw from the wall is 1310 watts - that's at 70% TDP so at 100%... good luck!

How is it that profitable? I have a couple i7 7700k computers I just wanted to see how much they would make and on nicehash they only were making $0.30 a day, so really curious thanks.

Why do the risers have to be powered I'm curious? The 1080Ti's already need to use 1 8Pin and 1 6 Pin cable - I didn't think that the riser needed power as well
|
|
|
How long have you been running 1080Ti's on the risers you listed, and zero issues with them? How many do you have running? Would like to hear from someone that's got them running, wouldn't want to burn the house down lol Thanks.

this will be longer conversation im owner of asus 1080ti fe (bought for my gaming rig but due to insanse coil whine is able only mining) and its realy REALY beast ... (180watts on skein algo 880MH/s) 4x1070 evga sc black ed. arriwed today (HOOORAAAAY) BUT waiting for risers damn .... risers ordered: http://www.dx.com/p/kitbon-usb-3-0-pci-e-1x-to-16x-riser-adapter-card-extender-cable-465573im planing to make a rig with 7 gpus in total (2x1080ti + 5x1070, but dont have money for the rest of cards and 7x 1080ti is toooo expensive for me) on asus z170 pro gaming (was in my gaming pc, rma`ed, meanwhile bought asus z170-p, so now is in free for mining ... it has 3+3 pcie + m.2) and then lets see m.2 to pcie4x card: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-shipping-NGFF-to-PCI-e-4x-Slot-Riser-Card-M-key-M-2-SSD-Port/623732_32248406559.htmlas mentioned ... 1080ti dont need powered riser, but it can be pluged into it? ... but i "need" length of usb cables, so there is no other way, coz there is no longer non-powered riser then +-200mm and i think its too short for placing in rig im building (own construction, alluminium plate, 2x psu) you can do 950 on skeina nd i think 1000 with some heavy oc, but i found that 950 is the sweet spot, to have nice consumption and not overheat, because now in summer it's better to not push too far your gpu I'm only getting 800-850 depending on card but 8 different 1080TI's on 70% +200 +225 and they all just hover around 800 - what settings are you using? Thanks Vaccinus

OP: There is no sense in mining Litecoins with a GPU rig. Litecoin mining and other scrypt algo cryptocurrency mining is done today with ASIC hardware, like A4 Dominator, Antminer L3, KnCMiner Titan, ...
and from where i cann buy this i m from india and how to setup this can you plz help me on this they don't have computer shops in india?

No, I dont want to run them at 100% Phil. Btw i did small benchmark on my 1080ti Aorus on digibyte-skein : https://gyazo.com/c568b5b6aae68b51bf4b5c3ae780e0f6X axis is power limit At 70% power limit we're losing only 9% hashrate I will buy risers with PCIe power connectors. Thanks a lot guys! 954 @ 70%? what are your clock and mem settings at? also what pool and program r u using, gui looks pretty cool!

DGB on yobit: -16% AUR on yobit: +2.6%
Its down a tad; plus another 20Gh just jumped on since last I checked yesterday....
There are some slumps; but the good days are totally more than the bad... You just see it faster because of the faster block times on this algo.
FYI: ZEC is -11.9%; so it seems all the whales are dumping alts to invest in BTC for the slump.... (guess)
Just saw it jump 50Gh from when u posted this - guess folks got their UPS deliveries today lol *** lol 11 min ago when I posted the 50Gh bounce it was 130 I think ... now it's at 180 and rising - looks like fluxing pretty hard now back down to 100Gh hah

Well... 9.6Gh of that yesterday was me and the new 1080ti's- and later tonight I'll be setting up another 4Gh at my girlfriends house ... hers are going to be only 1070's so maybe I'll point them to something else but I'm not sure yet. Nemos miner I tried to just run the start bat but I get trouble connecting when it tries to switch algos, it sometimes searches for 5-10 minutes to finally catch a new algo which is kinda nuts. Nemos batch or my batch? My auto-batch swapps algos almost instantly; as long as the PC can handle one instance of ccminer launching for each algo; all at once.... Ah! I knew I forgot something. been so busy setting up all the new cards that I forgot i needed to grab your batch! So yeah running nemos not yours. I'll try yours out for sure when i get to my girls house! Thanks a bunch

A last question ...
Is it still profitable to invest in mining equipment rather than invest directly in the currency I want, such as ethereum for example?
A friend told me that in view of the increasing difficulty, it was better to buy cryptomonetary units directly than to invest in equipment ...
Apples to oranges really. I'm sure it's been talked about on here a ton but just looking at the basics investing is crypto is just that - price goes up from your buy point, you make BTC, Price goes down from your bp you lose BTC (if you sell of course) - very cut and dry. with mining equipment it will start earning back your ROI - and you'll be able to hedge and recoup loss if things go south by selling off your hardware, most likely and hopefully not at a huge loss Just my 2c

I have 4 x 1080tis and 4 x 1070 currently. Thanks to the BTC rise (even at 2300 something it is still an incredible level).... ordered another 4 more 1080ti I decided to standardize on the MSI Z270A-Pro for NVIDIA farm -- compatible perfectly with fullzero's nvoc Linux OS. Late last night, my group put another early order of 12 x MSI and Aorus 1080ti but....... it fell through..... got email from supplier NO STOCK and both MSI and Gigabyte have not updated next shipment schedules. Supplier has indicated that crypto currency boom basically getting practically all NVIDIA GPUs off the shelves as soon as they are available in store and basically no stock for online sales. If you have not bought that 1080ti or still deciding..... my advise is get them now before its too late. Its bad enough that practically RX500 and RX400 cards are hard to come by nowadays...... now NVIDIA has gotten the crypto bug too. I suspect that by the time VEGA comes in.... every card from AMD or NVIDIA will be above normal price. I think Intel will soon come to play in the GPU arena. I will not be surprised if we will see "unknowns" from China coming out ...... like this brand called COLORFUL. http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/colorful-launches-igame-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-vulcan-x-oc.htmlWhat scares me is I called all of this so perfectly since last April . I would argue and fight with people that alt coins mined by gpus would take off due to so many economical factors that we all need to have a piece of it. 13 x 1080 ti's earn good coins. Around 100 a day. That is a 1080 ti every 8 days. I run them at 70% tdp. And if it gets too warm I will drop power to 55%. Thanks to you I've decided to run all 1080 Ti's, tested 1060, 1070 and RX 470's and 1080 ti's just fit for me because I don't have enough power. All the rooms in my house are on crappy 15A breakers so I'm screwed on running a lot of rigs Do you tweak anything else on the 1080ti's besides bringing tdp down to 70%? Thanks agian for the help! I use afterburner on all rigs except one I use firestorm from zotac which is like msi afterburner as that rig will not let afterburner work right and after a complete install of everything from start it still said f u to me. so I Installed firestorm works about the same as afterburner. So on a 3 1080 ti rig I synch the 3 cards in afterburner for skein 70% 150 core 0 memory 75% fan for zec 70% 200 core 0 memory 75% fan thats on all of the 8 founders edition cards on the 1 aorus it has a higher core so I do 125 for skein and 150 for zec I also have 4 msi aero 1080ti the clocks are higher on core so I do 140 for skein and 160 for zec. pdu question the correct setup will let you power cycle from anywhere in the world via an eth cord to the router. and if you have smOS and the mobos are set to power up when power is restore it is easy. if you have 1080 ti's no smos I know the rigs will power on via a pdu recycle you then need a scrypt to start it mining. Since my summer rates kick in June 1 . I am doing a low power test today. I set all cards to 50% vs 70%. The Psu meter dropped from 11 amps to 8.5 So 2640 watts is now 2040 watts . This is good as ac bill and mining bill will both drop As will hash rate. But heat will mange better Awesome thanks a ton! For Skein currently it's not doing well for me - I'm on ZPool and for the past 12 hours it looks like it tanked for me - daily calculations on current earnings is only: 3.830636066 mBTC per 1 GH/s = 1 1080Ti @ 800 MH/s = 3.064508852mBTC or $6.96 @ current rate.... that's a pretty significant drop

Im actually going to get myself very first gpu, founders edition R9 370 4GB DDR5. I'll have a test run on my pc with i3-2130 3.4Ghz. Im not sure whether this gpu can do any good. tried to do few search on this gpu but cant find any information or people who have use it. if this card is a good card I might going to get to add a few more. I'll let the Core 2 duo to rest for a while for now until Im comfortable with this. Just want to make mining a hobby but at least the money invested will return in a few month be careful, it's a dangerous hobby. at first i only wanted to spend a few dollars. now my wallet is empty

Great thread. That wiring is the neatest I have ever seen!
I like your simple setup too Citro.
How do you guys source large amounts of gear? Do you go through a wholesaler or online retail store? None of the shops in my country stock large amounts of GPU's etc.
That's a good question because I can't even order online because my banks keep hitting me with fraud alerts and then also the online retailers after I clear the fraud alerts are putting their own fraud alerts on me and cancelling all my orders. It's very damn frustrating Man this is some awesome lounge though! Making me drool! What miner are you using I like the display on sol/watts and all the data on it - what pools are you using for the Ti's? thanks!
