Prolly being biased, but you guys should throw away the Rpi and switch to Lightningasic firmware, we now have an auto-overclocking feature that will overclock each individual chip (5 chips per Gridseed miner). Also the reject rate is close to 0, I've been getting 99.91% accepted running over 24 hours at Ghash.io.
BTW, Jack is making a test rig with 100 miners connected on a single controller, I will have a pic up to prove it.

Thanks sandor111. I actually have a few wiibox's that I have never used. Will load up your firmware and let you know how it does. Great job on tuning per chip as I have seen that each chip can be pushed to different levels.

Edit: threw away my Pi over a week ago!  (threw away=returned to store)  Cheesy

Wondering...should I go with 16 AWG or is 18 AWG adequate?

18 awg would do, as are 3 wires x 7 amps (amp limit) = 21 amps.
Each blade will not absorb more than 15-17 amps overclocked.

But, still are close to the limit and the 18 awg will get a little warm.

I would go for 16awg to be safe for any unpredictable reason.
Thanks. The 16awg was only a $1 more Smiley

Very nice DPoS. Looks like a city from the future.

thanks - hashing homes for us all

originally I was just going to shove them all in a PC case but they looked too good not to make it a display.. and without the fans and it being wireless networked I can move it and plug it in anywhere    Cheesy

it runs Win7 so I just remote desktop into it to kick off the cgminers (will make a startup script on boot as well)

You should check out cgwatcher if you haven't already. Use it for my GPU rigs. It supports auto starting of cgminer on system boot, email notifications, and so much more.

My advice for a simple non-reversible modification:
1) PS-ON : achieve this by using a tiny flattip to pop up pins 3&4 and bend them into contact with eachother. add a quick hit of solder to make this permanent

Are these pins 3 & 4 that your bending together? Just the bottom row pins right?

This version supports "Per device frequency setting by serial number ":

https://github.com/girnyau/cgminer-gc3355

this version gives me around 10% lesser hashrate then the orginal cgminer .... I did a test with 20 miners ....

I asked for it ... with PM no answer ... so far ...

Sorry to bother you.

I just used your https://github.com/girnyau/cgminer-gc3355

which was compiled in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=477709.msg5763819#msg5763819 for the raspberry.

Somehow I'm getting around 10% less kh with the same setup .... then with the orginal cgminer from andreed from here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=477709.msg5539257#msg5539257

... Why does this happen ....?

Interesting. I started using the girnyau version recently but have not noticed this. Will take a closer look. The two versions are not much different from comparing the source code. The dtbartle version went away from setting static freq's and now support increments of 25. The version you referenced is an earlier build of dtbartle that had static freq.

I have considered forking the current dtbartle version with the per miner freq part of girnyau but am still undecided on doing static freq's or increments of 25. If I could figure out how to code increments of 5 that would be great. If static then there is not much benefit over just using girnyau's fork.

My miners are all over the map supporting freq's of 850 - 900+. Most of them do 863.

Are you basing your results on the pool reported hashrates? Contrary to what that one poster spams all over various threads the hashrate reported by pools are inaccurate and should not be used as a basis of your miners performance.

Edit: I'm not using a Pi. I found it too unreliable and like you mentioned about 10% lower hashrate.

IMO 25 MHz increments work the best, one of my miners runs stable at 925 MHz, but throws HW errors at 856 MHz. The 25 MHz increments have the lowest PLL frequency and other PLL dividers set at 0. I have also found that the cgminer forks does not take in account the hashing time lost when finding an invalid nonce (HW error).

Interesting. Thanks...hadn't actually looked at the methods they are using to increment. When you say "cgminer doesn't take in account the hashing time lost when finding an invalid nonce (HW error)" are you referring to it's display of hashrate? Are you using dtbartle or girnyau?

Here's a 48 hour run on girnyau. Notice that some of the individual chips are not as good as others. I think someone mentioned perhaps coding freq per chip in the future (might have been bfgminer). I'm going to scale down to increments of 25 on girnyau to see what that does. Also some of these HW errors may be due to the internet connection as I only have 1-2 bars on the mobile hotspot it's hooked up to...not the best setup for testing  Undecided

Mac wallet wont sync? and about 500pot was sent? can anyone help me out? appreciate it. saw earlier posts about copy pasting some nodes but not sure how?

On the a PC you open a txt file paste the nodes and save the files as potcoin.cfg in the user/appdata/roaming/potcoin.

redownloaded and it works but got a question mark next to a transaction, how and where do i run the salvagewallet command? really appreciate the help

If your on Windows create a shortcut of potcoin-qt.exe then open up the Properties window of the newly created shortcut. Append a space and -salvagewallet after potcoin-qt.exe. Click OK on the shortcut property window then double click the shortcut to launch.

Delete the shortcut afterword's as you only need to do it once.

Alternatively you can launch from the command line using: potcoin-qt.exe -salvagewallet

hm im on mac so this wont work! tried running that command but it doesnt work Sad

Well in that case I would try running it from Terminal. Make sure potcoin is not running then navigate to the location of potcoind (notice the "d") and at the prompt type:
potcoind -salvagewallet

You may have to hit enter to get back to the command prompt after it launches. Check the Activity monitor to see if its running. Give it a few minutes (10) and then type:
potcoind getinfo

If it returns some data showing what block it's on and other information then you can stop it using:
potcoind stop

Make sure it stops running (give it a few minutes) and then launch the client.

Please backup your wallet.dat file first! I have not tried any of this on the mac.

However, this was an issue with KGW, which a lot of coins have implemented...as there aren't many Kgw coins out there that aren't effected by the timewarp.
Is this what the timewarp vulnerability looks like?

Since I switched to using 20mm extrusions (instead of 25mm) it opened up lower cost corner bracket options. These are not as inexpensive as the generic home depot corner brackets but they don't require any drilling (to enlarge the hole), are stronger, include alignment tabs and are made specifically for this application:

Use the salvagewallet command via console if you have stuck coins.

Thanks broken_pixel. That worked.

Disappointed in the lack of notice regarding the fork to fix KGW. These things need to be done at least two weeks out if not longer.

Not knowing about the fork I sent over 1000 POT and it never got there...updated my wallet and issued a -resync only to see the two sent transactions sitting there with a ? next to them (they were confirmed on the wrong blockchain). Any idea how to get them back?

I understand the desire to patch as quickly as possible but you need to allow enough time for the pools and other operators supporting this coin to have sufficient notice.

Your post is confusing. Lack of notice? Besides the giant red text and them blasting about how they are fixing the exploit on every avenue of social media they are involved with what type of notice would you like? A personal telegram  Cheesy? All the other scrypt coins that use kgw were having a melt down too, so if you didn't read about it through potcoin then perhaps you could have read about it while doing research on another coin. Perhaps you just don't read anything about the community, although a sr memeber with over 300 posts leads me to believe you are just upset that you lost coins and are striking out.

To answer your question, i don't think you can get them back. Live and learn and be more diligent in the future.

I don't think it's reasonable to give a two day notice of a fork. It does not instill confidence in a coin. 1000 POT is nothing to me so I am not upset. Forks should only be done as a last resort and under extreme situations with plenty of notice. I think the KGW issue is a valid reason to fork but a two day notice in unacceptable and will lead to people loosing faith in a coin.

You can not expect people to watch message board threads. If there was any actual use by consumers they would never trust this coin again under this situation.

Edit: I have started "watching" the github (email notification) for any source code changes. I also think not incrementing the version number is a mistake.

p2pool seems to be on a different fork than the official blockchain explorer.

Do I need to update the networks.py file?

You do not need to update the p2pool code (networks.py). Just update your wallet daemon and hopefully all the other p2pool nodes will as well. Sent cryptovein a msg on irc.

Brought back from the CPU/GPU archive section. Please stick to bitcoin only hardware to keep this thread alive.

What's wrong with scrypt hardware?  Thread title says mining rigs, not Bitcoin-only mining rigs....
If you follow the bread crumbs it says "Bitcoin Mining Hardware":

Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Mining > Hardware > Pictures of your mining rigs!

They are somewhat scrypt hostile here Smiley

What is MAX_TARGET?  I've noticed it's different for various coins but not sure how it's computed.

the maximum custom difficulty you can set

hmm, nm, i'm not 100% sure about that actually, would have to look at the source again.   i think that's what it is, though.

btw, for any coin with, say, block times of 2 or 3 minutes or less, you should remove the following in data.py:

if best is not None:
            best_share = self.items[best]
            punish, punish_reason = best_share.should_punish_reason(previous_block, bits, self, known_txs)
            if punish > 0:
                print 'Punishing share for %r! Jumping from %s to %s!' % (punish_reason, format_hash(best), format_hash(best_share.previous_hash))
                best = best_share.previous_hash

...  first off, these blocks are too fast to have that anyway.  not to mention that the vast majority of the time this will be beneficial to your node.  if you build off of that old valid *share that's just getting punished because of a new block, all the other clients will follow your chain (as it'll be the longest).  this way you don't end up making a share some 3 seconds later and have some slow (or modified, heh heh) node build off the original share

In ravs repo it does this with the following:

Code:
    def should_punish_reason(self, previous_block, bits, tracker, known_txs):
#       if (self.header['previous_block'], self.header['bits']) != (previous_block, bits) and self.header_hash != previous_block and self.peer_addr is not None:
#           return True, 'Block-stale detected! height(%x) < height(%x) or %08x != %08x' % (self.header['previous_block'], previous_block, self.header['bits'].bits, bits.bits)

Same result?
