621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long do you hold your coins? on: September 18, 2017, 09:20:57 AM
I stay on the safe side, I don't wait for huge profits. I set my profit according to my need and when it reach to that profit level I sell my coins and I keep on monitoring market. But not for all coins, I hold coins who have big potential for long time..
622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes you invest in an ICO on: September 18, 2017, 09:13:41 AM
Project base, Idea, team and which type of market the project belong to and I usually prefer such projects which are based of highly valuable assets like the recent project I invested in was real-estate blockchain project (ATLANT) which gives an indication that the project will be a huge success in future.
623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How cryptos affect your life? on: September 18, 2017, 07:56:22 AM
Yes cryto has also affected my life but in a positive way. I also stay late at night and works on cryptos and working on cryptocurrencies is helping me gathering much more experience of cryptoworld and am satisfied that am becoming part of and getting familiar with something that is new and is the future of money. we all spend or I should say waste substantial time of our day on internet so its much more better to spend our time in such informative work rather than watching meaningless things on internet.
624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are everyone's favorite alt coins?! on: September 16, 2017, 06:08:25 AM
Mine are Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, DASH, Monero and ZCASH.
625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is the best way to invest? on: September 15, 2017, 05:16:24 PM
I believe investing in ICO is really not a good idea because of the uncertainity of the project and it is too hard to tell whether particular ICO will fall in the future and I also admit the facts from the pass that some really great ICO projects like Ethereum was founded by ICO in 2013, and we have Golem, LISK, Waves as well but on the other hand we have the biggest failure ever like Ethereum's DAO it is the largest ICO in ICO's history, this project brought in approximately $168 million USD.
626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much time do the cryptocurrencies require? on: September 15, 2017, 05:02:37 PM
It depends upon you, I mean Trading requires skills and practice to know the entry and exit points and one cannot simply think that Bitcoin or whichever coin you select is going to rise in a straight upward climb, there will be twists in the road and yes it is possible to combine trading and investing with your regular life.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What ICO's / Presale should i break my crypto virginity with? on: September 15, 2017, 12:28:39 PM
Initial coin offering (ICO) is an unregulated means of crowdfunding via use of cryptocurrency and is applied by cryptocurrency businesses as an alternative to the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists, banks, or stock exchanges.
And before investing in any coin I recommend you to check the ANN thread for projects, analyze projects and invest in one which you think will be successful in future. Don't forget to read the announcements (Altcoins) which will give you informations of many projects.

628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin independent of Bitcoin's performance? on: September 15, 2017, 11:49:03 AM
Altcoins are not independent of BTC performance when BTC appreciates and depreciates it also effect Altcoins as a recent huge downfall in value of BTC (because of ban of ICO in China) it also effected Altcoins as am sure you know that ICO (Initial coin offering) is particularly for Altcoins. Here is the list of Cryptocurrencies it can be clearly seen that how other cryptocurriencies are getting affected because of BTC performance.

629  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the future of BTC for the next two years on: September 15, 2017, 11:22:51 AM
Bitcoin will appreciate in next 2 years. currently this downfall is caused because of ban of ICO in China but I think this ban will prove as a temporary ban and when this ban will be remove, BTC will rise again...
630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of ICO ban in China on: September 15, 2017, 11:09:45 AM
I think this ban on ICO is a temporary ban and it will be allowed again in China in near future because ban on ICO is almost equal to ban on cryptocurriencies  and which Government of China can't afford because cryptocurriencies are the future of payments.
Successful ICOs will not refund money to people because they are not bound under terms to refund.
631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coin now you think had a good future on: September 15, 2017, 10:52:30 AM
I think Bitcoin because Bitcoin has gain very high popularity because of being first in market but also facing a tough competition as well because alot of Altcoin are now in the market.
Bitcoin has market cap of $49,945,987,442 right at present with circulating supply of 16,567,262 BTC. with these figures I think has good future.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kyber ICO on: September 15, 2017, 10:06:39 AM
U.S. citizens can now officially buy tokens without any restrictions.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative Block Chains : be safe! on: September 15, 2017, 09:42:36 AM
I haven't seen anybody post about what would be my biggest worry if I were trying out alternative block chains. I realize this may be perceived as "Gavin is FUD'ding anything that isn't bitcoin!"  (FUD == Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)  But I think some of you might be forgetting some basic computer security fundamentals in the excitement to be early adopters.

When I first heard about bitcoin, my questions were:

1) Can it possibly work (do the ideas for how it works make sense)?
2) Is it a scam?
3) If it is not a scam, could it open my computer up to viruses/trojans if I run it?

I answered those questions by:

1) Reading and understanding Satoshi's whitepaper.  Then thinking about it for a day or two and reading it again.
2) Finding out everything I could about the project.  I read every forum thread here (there were probably under a hundred threads back then) and read Satoshi's initial postings on the crypto mailing list.
3) Downloaded and skimmed the source code to see if it looked vulnerable to buffer overflow or other remotely exploitable attacks.

If I were going to experiment with an alternative block-chain, I'd go through the same process again. But I'm an old conservative fuddy-duddy.

If you want to take a risk on a brand-new alternative block-chain, I'd strongly suggest that you:

1) Run the software in a virtual machine or on a machine that doesn't contain anything valuable.
2) Don't invest more money or time than you can afford to lose.
3) Use a different passphrase at every exchange site.

Thanks Gavin, really helpful information and I would like to add people must have a knowledge what a blockchain actually is and it would help them alot to cope with many issues.

634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: September 15, 2017, 07:30:55 AM
Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.
I agree with the decision regarding giveaway threads because such threads will absurd the prosperity of this forum and it should be the responsibility of all members on this forum to try to avoid such threads by not posting/replying to such threads to discourage the people who post these threads.
No one can benefit himself/herself by offering incentives to members for post/replying on their threads.
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts on: September 15, 2017, 07:07:07 AM
Everyone should be very careful about clicking links, downloading or installing programs etc etc related to cryptocurrencies. It's better to ask from someone who is expert in such issues rather than try to make any blunder. Here is the link to the list of possible scams: Newcomers must read this...

636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts on: September 15, 2017, 06:56:55 AM
I think the best response to such hacking attempts near me is always try to avoid links from any person who has Very low or no "TRUST" rank on his profile and try to open links of those person who you know or who has a High level of rank Like Legendary or more.
