621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the meaning of Bitcoin? on: July 19, 2017, 04:20:41 PM
In simplest words, Bitcoin is a derived experiment out of scratch that was meant to give complete financial authorities in your hands, just so you can feel that you are your own bank. It is something that has a value and gets inflated every time someone gets into it.
It is a method of transferring "digital tokens" from one account to another based on reflected values one asks for, and on the other hand get services or goods against it.
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees - I Think We All Been Scammed on: July 19, 2017, 03:35:59 PM
It always looked to me a way of snatching our Bitcoins which were an attempt by those third party mediators that we used to store our bitcoins at. But I was lucky somewhere because I had them stored at few exchanges where I used to trade alts and only redeemed them when I wanted to sell them for fiat. Even I don't understand that why those days we were paying such high fees, especially those recommended ones but currently seeing least fees being able to confirm my transactions in minutes, makes me think that it was all a plan made to collect our coins in a scandalous manner.
623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty [IXT] InsureX blockchain-secured marketplace for Insurance Bounty Program on: July 17, 2017, 01:29:45 PM
[ANNOUNCEMENT]

I have calculated the payouts for facebook and twitter campaign. It is still pending a check on multiple entries which is highlighted in "light green" in cell of their username. There might be a little bit change in your payout (only increase since we have to reject multiple entries which will lead to decline in excess stakes) after rejecting multiple entries.

Just curious about the entries which were made at theviralexchange?
I wish to know because I applied when the rules were changed and everything was shifted to TVE.
And how will those withdrawals be processed? Directly from you to us or to TVE and TVE will send the tokens to us?
624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty [IXT] InsureX blockchain-secured marketplace for Insurance Bounty Program on: July 14, 2017, 07:53:31 AM
I had a talk with Jamal over some rule and payout detail changes since it didn't completed the whole tenure as it was planned right from the start.

There are couple of things that you should know will change: Maximum post limit, little bit relaxation to those who didn't completed the new post limit, Total bounty pool. (Probably more but in meantime these are the changes that we thought of)

I made some new rules and reached out Jamal and he agreed over it. I will be making the announcement tomorrow since I need to give some time on calculating figures to make a fair payment system as the campaign closed in sudden.

The ICO was scheduled to start July 11. The signature campaign required 50 posts for the whole campaign. I think it's fair that since the ICO ended today July 13, ONLY TWO DAYS AFTER, that the required posts should half at least to 25 posts.

Avirunes, can you please let me know that what is the last date of counting posts?
I mean, is the signature campaign already over? Or we do have time to post and get the stakes for the same?
And is it like 25 constructive posts in a week to get paid 100% stakes for that week? Or is it for all the weeks for the amount of time the campaign ran/runs?
625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at Exchanges on August 1 on: July 14, 2017, 07:40:46 AM
They gave the guide but didn't come up to any conclusions yet. I think we should wait for the best answer and take measures accordingly.
Putting Bitcoins on exchanges would be more than hazardous on or 12 hours before August 1 takes place which is what theymos said. I am worried what will be its impact on the value of bitcoins, because I think people are exerting their money out of Bitcoins due to the fear of getting dumped through panic sell.
626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Handling splits: UASFs, BIP148, etc. on: July 14, 2017, 07:29:23 AM
Which will possibly prove to be the best way to store our coins if we are not safe to keep our coins handy at any third party wallets like blockchain, electrum and/or any other services? This is making everyone worried about the possible loss of their coins from anywhere, and unless we know which part of the "assumed upcoming split" will be winning, we are bound to the risks of losing everything we have. Why are so many difficulties rising up with the growth of Bitcoins atm?  Undecided
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally moving to Ethereum on: June 12, 2017, 01:19:22 PM
No crypto can be "managed" or "controlled" while ETH can because it is centralized and has someone's control over it while Bitcoins are free to move anywhere. The only reason I see bitcoin could fail, is the mentality of its adopters who are just getting into it and taking it more as a speculative asset rather than considering its use as a currency itself.
628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Everything in the red explained on: June 12, 2017, 01:14:54 PM
They drop because the surge in their prices is nearly baseless and they are just getting pumped, they get into bubble and when it bursts everyone starts panic selling. Then at some point it stops when sellers start to think that they won't be getting any profits below that level. IMO, many alts are getting pumped seeing the surge in BTC itself and they have no other reasons to go and reach those highs because big players are trying to gain as much btc as they can while the price of BTC remains high.
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: June 12, 2017, 12:51:07 PM
If your transaction was small and still the fee was high, I think Lauda said somewhere that Bitcoin was used to be the best currency for small transactions with lesser fee, it isn't anymore.
As the number is growing drastically, we are definitely going to experience some huge spikes in the calculation of fee too. But taking your point into consideration too, I think that miners should lower down the fee to at least 25% because it is becoming very hard to pay those satoshis and not even getting a complete guarantee of a confirmation as promised by those wallets.
630  Economy / Speculation / Re: Demise of bitcoin under Eth on: June 12, 2017, 12:47:08 PM
I think the chart will provide me with the information I need in why it had the highest market cap

No need to look at charts. It's an easy form of market cap manipulation that requires basically no effort at all. In that regard, I wonder how long it will take before we see the first $1000 billion market cap joke. If the existing supply is 1,000,000,000 for example, then it works as follow;

Buy 1 coin at $1 and the market cap sits at $1 billion.
Buy 1 coin at $10 and the market cap sits at $10 billion.
Buy 1 coin at $100 and the market cap sits at $100 billion.
Buy 1 coin at $1000 and the market cap sits at $1000 billion.

If you hold 50% or more of the total supply, you'll statistically be the richest (known) individual in the world with just $1000 invested. Cheesy

That's true. If someone stacks in too much ETH in volume and decides to dump on everyone, say even 5% of the total available coin supply, the next day they will see the market cap to be dumped down to more than 50% by just that single step. Bitcoins are much limited in number compared to ETH and I see no reasons why ETH is being pumped too high. Just due to those smart contracts of different tokens that are being laid upon its blockchain?
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Market Opportunities? on: June 11, 2017, 01:35:54 PM
It does give opportunity for us users of it either on investment or on the benefits that it gave to the community.
What benefits?

Thanks all for all the responses, from what I read, some of the major problems for Bitcoins are:
  • High Transaction fees (For microtransactions)
  • Delays (Unlike paying cash)
  • No incentives for people to use Bitcoin

Would Bitcoin be just an investment to store your cash? For safety reasons? Looks like we won't be using Bitcoins in our daily lives after all.. Is there anything else we could do with BTC?

Even the tipping service ChangeTip that provides a tipping service with no fees has discontinued, essentially allowing microtransactions. Sad

Yes it is, because it is being seen more as an investment asset and not a currency, and that's actually good for it. At least by hook or by crook, it is getting attention and now everyone is getting on the train, and I don't think that there is anyone now who can devaluate Bitcoins unless some whales having more than 0.1-1% of Bitcoins come and dump them over us. I introduce Bitcoin myself to my friends as a way of increasing our paper money's value and there's nothing bad in it.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long is a long-term hodl? on: June 10, 2017, 05:04:29 PM
For some shit alts long term is a week. I had one coin go 16000% in less then 2 months. Depends on how shitty they are the shittier the alt, the shorter the "long" term hold.

So that does mean that the more efficient as well as highly priced coin it is, the longer the time duration for its rise to take place.
But that's what we call stable because when those shitty coins get dumped hard on us, we people only cry hard and ask why only we faced it.
So it's better to hold only those who we really know have potential in them.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why BitShares price Up today? What happened? on: June 10, 2017, 04:47:28 PM
Bitshares seriously had nothing for real in news part, but yes as mining1 said it's been pumped.
And for your kind information, I would like to let you know that all alts are currently reaching and some are also breaking their All Time Highs, so I would like to draw everyone's attention here that BTS started from 18500 and it never reached there back again. So, I think that there's still a chance for BTS to go there as well as make it up for itself. Go grab it.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the future of ETH , DASH , DOGE , LTC ? on: June 08, 2017, 06:37:21 PM
Alts have been getting many chances for taking over bitcoins with their enormous and incredible facilities that they used to show in their appendix, and when you deliver what you have talked about and sometimes even more than that, then why shouldn't these alts be appreciated in value too? ETH looks good atm if you are looking to invest in for a long term.
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really have enough 'cryptocurrencies'? on: June 08, 2017, 04:55:34 PM
I think there is enough for now, coz now there are ICOs almost everyday. We going to end up not knowing which ones to use or invest in

No, we can't. Altcoins are nothing different than newer and better ideas over Bitcoins' protocol and by adding up to some new algorithms, devs are creating something new everytime they create an alt. It completely depends upon how we react and adapt to those coins, there should be a coin for each need that we have, like something for food, some alt for music, some for security and there should be much more needed to maintain the balance that will be shaken when the whole world will enter this crypto world and coins will be less.
636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: June 08, 2017, 04:45:16 PM
With the increasing demand and facts that speculative markets can take alts to some incredibly crazy levels, I predict ETH to cross a whole lot BTC without doubt as many alts popping up are now based on ETH smart contracts and using its blockchain to run their jobs over it.

638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin for Retirement on: June 08, 2017, 03:07:57 PM
Bitcoin is an asset for retirement actually, but I don't think that 1 is enough. Saving a lot of coins or if possible, investing some part of your salary in bitcoins is the best thing you can do to retire early when the price will reach $1 million, and if we can see $3000 which seemed impossible one time, then going a million is possible too.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think Ethereum could break $1000 as well? on: June 07, 2017, 03:20:54 PM
ETH deserves to be there as it is the strongest competitor which has already beaten LTC and other alts in terms of technological reviews as well as security parts, and there should be no doubt for Ethereum to cross 0.5 btc some day as it already proved that it's a giant by going $200 in least time.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt Bubble Popped? on: June 07, 2017, 03:14:13 PM
Things you have said seem too much worried on your side, but don't worry. There are many coins which are coming up and are getting pumped, as well as others too which got dumped earlier are now having chances to get up again to more higher levels based on their strongest resistance levels.
