Yes I watched the second match of BPL, 177 runs was a defensible score. The first 10 overs of Chattogram Challengers batting looked like the Sylhet striker would win the match. But Najibullah Zadran and Shahadat Hossain's 68-ball 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket turned the match around. Najibullah Zadran played an unbeaten innings of 61 runs off 30 balls and Shahadat Hossain played an unbeaten innings of 57 runs off 39 balls. Sylhet Strikers bowlers did not bowl very well in the last overs. Chattogram Challengers won by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare.

Apart from Najibullah Zadran, there were quite a few overseas players participating in this match, including Avishka Fernando, Harry Tector, Richard Ngarava and Curtis Campher. So in a way this is good. Players from countries such as Ireland and Zimbabwe never get an opportunity to participate in high-profile leagues such as the IPL and the BBL. At least they can get some experience from the BPL. I saw the highlights of the match, and the crowd attendance was pretty good. And from what I have seen there is decent viewership from India as well.

Today's two matches of Adesh Premier League have been quite good. Especially the first match Dhaka vs Comilla this match was very difficult match. Here Dhaka won the match very hard. Because meanwhile they had only three balls left if they could not manage the runs early then they would have lost the match at the last stage. However, Bangladesh Premier League has been able to show a lot of good performances since its inception.  So it seems that every team is well prepared. And the matches will be very enjoyable

It is surprising that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has managed to conduct the Bangladesh Premier League without much troubles. The fact that Bangladesh is a cricket crazy country definitely helps. In today's match Chattogram Challengers won against Sylhet Strikers, thanks to explosive batting from Najibullah Zadran and Shahadat Hossain. Durdanto Dhaka had won the first match. My main concern is that this league is overlapping with several other franchise T20 leagues. At this point, the International League T20 and SA20 are ongoing.

Congratulation to Australia cricket team for a well-deserved victory by ten wickets in first match. The key to crushing the West Indies was Travis Head century scored 119 runs and the outstanding bowling performances of Pat Cummins and Hazlewood. i think in T20 encounters between Australia and the West Indies are expected to be more exciting. Australia win appeared effortless due to the West Indies very low traget of 26 runs in second inning. Hazlewood best bowler demonstrated his talent by bowling brilliantly in both innings which greatly aided Australia huge victory.

Australia without a doubt have the best pace attack in tests right now (Cummins, Starc & Hazlewood). Even their second string pacers such as Scott Boland and Jason Behrendorff are very aggressive. And under home conditions, they become unplayable. Only a very few batsmen have managed to take on the Australian batsmen down under. One of the reasons is that their first class competition (Sheffield Shield) is the best in the world right now. County championship of England has become diluted, but Sheffield Shield has maintained its quality.

Today match is the between Ireland19 and USA19. Ireland won the toss and first decided bowling. Ireland bowler out the USA batsman in the last ball of the 1 over. This is the first achievement for Ireland team. This is the bad started for USA batsman. USA batsman makes 9 run in 2 over and 1 outs. Once time again Ireland bowler out the USA batsman in the fourth ball of the 6 over. This is the second achievement for Ireland team. USA batsman makes 31 run in 10 over and 4 outs.USA batsman could not worked hard and struggle and can not make run. USA batsman makes 195 run in 41 over and 10 outs. This is the target for Ireland batsman. This is the easy target. Ireland batsman can complete this target and won the match.Ireland batsman makes 109 run in 23 over and won the match.Ireland's bowlers worked hard and struggled to get an easy target.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Ireland should not get over-excited with this win. USA is one of the weakest teams in this tournament and a win against them was very much expected. The real challenge will come when they face the other two teams in Group A - India and Bangladesh. Qualification for Super 6 is going to be extremely tough. Even if they manage to defeat Bangladesh, an entry to the next phase is not guaranteed. Only two of the four second placed teams are going to qualify for the next phase.

Today 2nd Match of South Africa U19 vs West Indies U19 team has already started. South Africa U19 now come out to bat. They scored 36 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 7 overs. South Africa U19 team batsman Steve Stolk is out for 5 runs from 6 balls. Steve  Stolk could not bat well in today's match. If the bowling line of West Indies U19 team can perform well, maybe South Africa U19 team will not be able to give the target of many runs.
South Africa Under 19 collected 285 runs by losing 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. South Africa Under 19 team's batting line was quite good as a result of which they managed to score 285 runs. With a target of 286 runs, the West Indies U19 team went into bat with the aim of winning and collected 190 runs by taking 6 wickets in 29 overs so far. Initially, the West Indies U19 team was under a lot of pressure losing 5 wickets in 10 overs. Both Nathan Sealy and Jewel Andrew batted brilliantly to help the team out of the pressure. The two have put on a huge partnership, scoring 116 runs off 113 balls so far. Jewel Andrew batting brilliantly today looks like he is playing a T20 match. However, 98 runs are still needed to win. West Indies U19 still have 4 wickets, I think West Indies U19 will win.

These matches will give an idea about the future of international cricket. Two teams won today - South Africa and Ireland. Although South Africa had the home advantage, they also maintained an upper hand throughout the match. On the other hand, the decline of West Indies continues. There is not much team bonding, and the batsmen hardly shows any patience. Win for Ireland as well. However, it was against one of the weakest teams in this tournament. Despite being the blue eyed boys of the ICC, USA is struggling at international level.

The performance of Pakistan team-against New Zealand is really disappointing because we all know that Pakistan's bowling line is very strong but they are not able to prove that against New Zealand. The way Pakistan team is performing against New Zealand clearly shows that both Pakistan's batting and bowling are much weaker than New Zealand's. New Zealand's batting and bowling are both very good due to which New Zealand has won every match against Pakistan with a bang. If Pakistan enter their fifth T20 match like this, if their bowling and batting do not improve, New Zealand have a high chance of a whitewash tie. So Pakistan must do well against New Zealand otherwise they will not win the fifth T20I.

It is almost certain that New Zealand will be whitewashing the series 5-0. So far they have won 4 consecutive matches and only one match is remaining now. Pakistan has failed in every single department - bowling, batting and fielding. They performed decently in Australia. But when they landed in New Zealand, all that was lost. The fifth match will take place at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Pakistan should try hard to win at least this one because this series was supposed to act as a warmup ahead of the T20 World Cup.

West Indies set a small target of just 26 runs. In the first innings itself we saw poor batting from the West Indies batsmen. Other than Kirk McKenzie, no other batsman could stay at the crease longer. McKenzie scored 50 runs. In the first innings, West Indies' innings stopped at just 188 runs. In the second innings too, as usual, we saw bad batting by the West Indies batsmen. The team collected only 120 runs.

Hazlewood bowled brilliantly in this match. He was able to take 4 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. Hazlewood destroyed the West Indies top order. The match was likely to be a tight one, despite the West Indies being able to set a target of more than 150.

West Indian batsmen have always struggled in Australia and this time also it was no different. In the past Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan were the ones who found themselves in trouble and now it is the turn of Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kraigg Brathwaite. Kirk McKenzie was the only West Indian batsmen to get to a half century. Everyone else failed. The raw pace of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood were a bit too much. These guys mostly focus on T20 and test format and bowlers with real pace were new for them.

First test is done and aus just got the victory as expected. It was between Australia vs Wi, where team WI played below avarage and did 188 run But in 2nd  innings, wi performance became decreased than their 1st inning. Maybe Australian bowling was too accurate to face. Australia team proved themselves stronger again. Even they could won the test by an inning if they could manage to did 26 runs more in their 1st innings. Travis Head is man of the match by his century but i fell bad for Josh Hazlewood who got total 9wickets from two innings. This man also deserve something, maybe player of the series after 2nd test done between aus vs wi team. Let's wait till then

In test cricket, only South Africa and Pakistan are competent against the pig-4 teams. Others like Bangladesh and West Indies are there just to make up the numbers. And that is the reason why I have always argued for a 6 or 7 team first division instead of the current 9 team setup. We can have pig 4 + SA + Pakistan in the first division and the other 6 teams in second division. But then, teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are never going to agree, because this would mean a demotion for them. ICC need to do it, if they want to save test cricket.

Ireland is in a very comfortable position against the United States. Last 5 years of higher allocation of funds from the ICC seems to be having some impact. And completely disappointed with the USA squad. Out of the 11 players, all 11 are of South Asian origin. And South Asians are less than 2% of the total population in the US. At least for the age group teams, I expected a few native players. BTW, South Africa recovered from early blows, to finish at a commanding position against the West Indies. For the West Indians, decline continues even in age group cricket.

I'm more interested fo discuss about the Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe, 3rd T20I result where SL archived victory by 9 wickets by defeating Zim. SL bowlers stopped zim within 88 run where top batsman from Zim team like Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine couldn't stay in the field for lond due to the pressure from SL bowlers specially Wanindu Hasaranga who got 4 wickets. And SL team easily cross the target and won the match. I still wonder how Zim defeated SL in 2nd T20 matches. Well Hasaranga player of the match and Angelo Mathews player of fhe series. Bad luck Zimbabwe team for ODI & t20 both sector.

There were some good individual performances from the Zimbabwean players, but overall they failed as a team. Even highly regarded players such as Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani failed to make an impact in this series. The truth is that they still remain overdependent on the White and Asian communities, who together makeup around 0.2% of the population. Cricket adoption among the natives have stalled and that give rise to the uncomfortable question on how the ICC funds ($17.64 million per year) are being spent.

Looks like Pakistan will be whitewashed by New Zealand in the T20I series. Fourth match was also won by the Kiwis, and now they are up 4-0 in the series. Batting first, Pakistan could only manage to put up a total of 158/5, and that too was possible thanks to some power hitting in the end by Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz. Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson had combined figures of 8-0-49-4, but then Adam Milne conceded the same number of runs from his 4 overs. While chasing, New Zealand was 20/3 at one point. But the partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips took them home.

Another match of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka is loading and after some hours we will see the reult of this match, and this match is the match that will decide who is the winner of this series, and by the way, this is the first T20I series of Zimbabwe in 2024 and if they won it so maybe their new year will good in cricket but unfortunately they can't be qualified for the World Cup 2024, and after this World Cup they also can't play Champions Trophy 2025 but maybe we will see them at 2026 World Cup if their performance will good.

If we look at the current score, Zimbabwe has scored 82 runs and they are all out in the 15th over. They were 4 down for 64 and the rest of the team just could play any further. Too much poor performance by Team Zimbabwe. The SriLankan team should win this match very easily and there should be no second thoughts on this.

I don't know for how long the ICC is going to tolerate poor performance from Zimbabwe. They are unable to compete in a meaningful way against the test nations, and they are losing even to second tier associate nations such as Uganda. Today they got bowled out for just 82 runs. And they had very experienced batsmen such as Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams and Craig Ervine in their squad. Only one player (Brian Bennett) managed a score of more than 15. And in the lower order, top scorer was Clive Madande with 5 runs.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 18, 2024, 02:48:16 PM
With the help of Travis Head's century, the Australian team managed to collect 283 runs. They managed to take a big lead of 95 runs. Considering the condition of the pitch, it was a good enough collection. Other than Travis head and Usman Khawaja, no other batsmen can bat as well.

Like the first innings, we have seen bad batting by West Indies in the second innings as well. At the end of the second day West Indies players managed to collect only 73 runs and they lost 6 wickets. The West Indies team is still behind Australia by 22 runs. It has now become very easy for Australia to beat West Indies.

West Indies as usual, let the match slip out of their hand. At one point they had Australia at 129/5. But then they allowed the lower order batsmen to add another 154 runs. Nathan Lyon made 24 crucial runs, and Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc also contributed with the bat. And in return, the West Indian batsmen once again struggled against the Australian pace trio. Josh Hazlewood was unplayable, and in the second innings Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon also chipped in with one wicket apiece. This series was supposed to be very one-sided and it is turning out that way.

Zimbabwe women's team scored only 170 runs for 10 wickets in 42.5 overs. I saw the highlight of this match Zimbabwe women lost their wicket at regular intervals their first wicket fell for just 4 runs then the second wicket for 39 runs. The 170 runs scored by the Zimbabwean women's team will probably be too easy a score for the Ireland women's team.Because 170 runs is not a very big and strong score in ODI cricket if Ireland women batting well according to their strength today they will win this match today. Now the innings break. The game will start in no time and the Ireland women's team will fight for victory.

This was more or less expected. Men's game is alive in Zimbabwe, just because they have some legacy players such as Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams and Craig Ervine. Almost all of them are in their late 30s and may retire from active cricket very soon. And now coming to the women's game, they have no such luxury. Domestic cricket is in pathetic state and whatever funds they get from the ICC gets stolen by the politicians. Zimbabwe is going the same way as Kenya. And my biggest worry is that South Africa may follow the same path.
635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 18, 2024, 03:56:42 AM
It seems that Group B have some top teams which include England also which have some good batting players and when we look at South Africa which seems to be more dangerous teams according to their bowling attack which mostly putt them in the winning situation and the other team West Indian are also famous for their sixes against different teams. So, the matches between these group will be quite good and we can easily get some enjoyment likely to be very soon.

India will be the favorites without any doubt. They performed quite strongly in the tri-series against Afghanistan and South Africa. After them, it maybe Australia and England, as they have a very strong grass-roots setup. And then South Africa will be having the home advantage. You can't discount New Zealand and Pakistan as well. BTW, I don't have high hopes for West Indies. They are in overall decline, and the same can be said about Sri Lanka as well. And regarding the other teams, Afghanistan and Bangladesh may score a few upset wins.

ICC Under-19 World Cup Warm-up Matches

We know that the ICC U19 ODI world cup is going to be started. And there are some warm up matches are playing. Today there are three matches.
England U19 vs Pakistan U19
Bangladesh U19 vs Australia U19
Scotland U19 vs New Zealand U19

I am not sure who will win the matches from these teams. But I think Pakistan U19 Australia U19 and New Zealand U19 may win today match. So let's see who will win today match. Smiley

Most of the warmup matches till now have got washed out. And today's matches are the last batch of warmups, as the tournament will get started on 19th January. India U19 will be playing against Sri Lanka U19, and I hope that the Indians will get at least some match practice out of it. A few days back, they were involved in a triangular tournament, which also saw the participation from South Africa U19 and Afghanistan U19. India U19 will be one of the favorites to lift the trophy, along with the hosts and Australia U19.
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 17, 2024, 03:57:09 AM
The New Zealand team scored 224 runs out of which the highest contribution was made by Finn Allen who scored 137 runs alone. But the reverse batsmen could not support him as they just got out one after the other. Finn Allen gave the best batting performance in this match today. But if Pakistan team wants to win today's message then they must give their best batting performance. Pakistan team has already lost two wickets as the first opening batsman Siam and Rizwan did not perform well. Now, if the two batsmen Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman can perform well then the Pakistan team will be able to win.

New Zealand won by 45 runs and this means that they are up 3-0 in the series of five matches. Even if Pakistan wins the remaining matches, they won't be able to save the series. New Zealand selectors now have the opportunity to give chances to some of their bench players ahead of the T20 World Cup. And for Pakistan, disintegration of their bowling is a big worry. Haris Rauf returned figures of 4-0-60-2 during yesterday's match. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Zaman Khan were only marginally better. And apart from Babar Azam, no one really made an impact with the bat.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 16, 2024, 02:43:52 AM
In my point of view the Zimbabwe team is giving a tough time to Srilankan team. Means if we took a look on the last match so we will see that Srilanka lost 7 wickets and they chased the 144 runs target with 0 ball remaining. It means Zimbabwe is giving very tough time to Srilanka. Or Srilanka is taking easy Zimbabwe team perhaps. Sikandar Raza bowling was good in the last match I hope he will do his best in this match too. I think we should not underestimate the Zimbabwe team they can give us a surprise anytime. Smiley

Unlike test format or ODI, T20I can be very competitive even if two teams of uneven strength competes against each other. And in this series, I couldn't notice a large quality gap between the two sides. Both the teams are on decline and they are overdependent on individual performances. And given this, I would say that Zimbabwe did relatively well. Sri Lanka had the home advantage, but Zimbabwe did what they could. But my question is what will happen once Sikandar Raza retire? He is the backbone of Zimbabwe now.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 16, 2024, 02:35:56 AM
Defeating Pakistan once in that tournament was just a random outlier. They didn't win any series properly since eons which is why they are barely clinging on these days. I expected them to disappear like Kenya etc sometime back.

However, I was wrong and they are somehow surviving. New teams like Ireland, Afghanistan etc are making it tougher and tougher for them to survive.

Actually it is not Ireland and Afghanistan are making their survival difficult. Ireland is in very poor form ever since they got the test status in 2019, and even if they lose to these teams it can be justified by saying that they lost to test nations. But what about the recent defeats to African associates such as Namibia and Uganda? And also in the ODI World Cup qualifiers, they lost to Scotland and Netherlands. These sort of defeats triggers a lot of questions and the decision by ICC to keep the test status of Zimbabwe will look more and more unjustified with each passing day.
640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 15, 2024, 03:31:29 PM
Yes, you're right about Zimbabwe's long-standing presence in international cricket since 1992. They've had their share of national-level matches and even qualified for the T20 World Cup a couple of times. However, it's true that they haven't been part of mega-events like the World Cup for several years, which can impact their performance.

If they can't qualify for the major ICC tournaments, then what we can do about it? Despite all the funding from the ICC, they failed to qualify for both the ODI and T20I world cups. In ODI world cup qualifiers, they lost out to associate nations such as Netherlands and Scotland. And their performance in T20 qualifier was even worse. They lost matches to Uganda and Namibia, and ended up at the third position in Africa qualifiers. I am feeling bad for the Zimbabwean players. They are getting punished for the incompetence of the cricket board.
